Congratulations! @Sgeld122

It’s so lovely to be able to go home and just relax! Well, relax may be the wrong word but once it’s done, you just feel so much better and the worry disappears.

This baby is trying to kill me I had 4 hours of contractions last night 5minutes apart were painful but manageable then they just stopped at 3 this morning wtf

KHall84 · 15/04/2020 09:31

I still have no sign of baby and I have started to suffer with acid reflux quite bad the last few days, I had another bath with clary sage last night and when I have checked cervix I still can't feel it so am guessing am no wear near ready although not sure if cervix doesn't drop until labour with 2nd seems as baby doesn't engage until labour starts in about 95% of woman, am very cranky this week husband is getting on my nerves but am only having about 3hrs uninterrupted sleep a night and I have a 4yr old to entertain of a day 😴 sorry for the rant xx

ComeOnEileen11 · 15/04/2020 10:22

@Sgeld122 congratulations!! What a beautiful little girl :)

@khall84 I've been told that - in subsequent pregnancies the cervix moves down during labour because it's done it all before : sort of a muscle memory thing.
I've also been told that baby can be completely free and not engage until labour starts 🤷 so it seems like second babies are a complete guess as to when you go into labour 😄

Still waiting. 37 weeks now. Think it will be a long time yet. At least toddler is keeping me busy.

KHall84 · 15/04/2020 10:26

@comeoneileen11 yes my little one has been head down since 34 weeks but at my last check last week he wasnt engaged at all which I was expecting but they did say it's also normal to not be head down until labour am 39+1 an really wanting to go this week but I feel like am going to go over with this baby xx well jow your 37 weeks you can go any time from now so fingers crossed for you that the baby doesn't make you wait to long now xx

Moussemum · 15/04/2020 23:33

Well I had my sweep today and boy did it hurt.I must be a woose.i kept apologising for yelping.Anyway I had my show in the car park on the way out.Have continued to bleed but that’s it.Doctor said it could be tomorrow but my midwife laughed and rolled her eyes so maybe not.i will be induced on my due date which I’m quite surprised at as I’m 40 with GD.Hope all you ladies are well.

fatisnotafeeling · 16/04/2020 07:36

Hi All,

I came into hospital to be induced yesterday at exactly 39 weeks. It's turns out that my baby boy is transverse and turning to breech.
I have had to stay in overnight and they are going to try and turn him this morning but if they can't then I think I will need a C section. This is absolutely my worst nightmare as I hate hate hate hospitals and being away from my other DC.

I hadn't been feeling too bad yesterday afternoon but I haven't had much sleep and feeling quite tearful this morning.

Moussemum · 16/04/2020 08:51

@fatisnotafeeling hope you are ok.I hope they are able to turn your baby and you get the vaginal birth you would like.Try not to worry the hospital will look after you.Make sure you talk through your worries with your team.I have my fingers crossed for you and will be thinking about you.best wishes

KHall84 · 16/04/2020 09:25

Moussemum · 16/04/2020 10:30

@KHall84 I hope your walk does the trick today and also it may make you feel better.im going to clean the floor on my hands and knees.See if that starts anything.then a bath.

KHall84 · 16/04/2020 10:46

@moussemum thanks am hoping so I cleaned the floor on hands and knees on Monday but didn't work but hopefully it will for you xx good luck keep me updated xx

flowerlamp · 16/04/2020 12:49

Just had my third sweep. And still no twinges so looks like it will be an induction for me on Saturday x

Moussemum · 16/04/2020 13:07

@flowerlamp did you bleed after your sweep?I am still bleeding. Was yours sore?My sweep was sore, the doctor pushed very hard.Going to have a bath now

flowerlamp · 16/04/2020 13:30

@Moussemum no bleeding with any of them. My second one I felt the most uncomfortable afterwards. But feel fine after this one. Currently sitting in the garden on my ball while my ds1 has his nap x

Moussemum · 16/04/2020 14:24

@flowerlamp that sounds like a good idea.I have had my bath.Felt a few pains and baby going nuts.i think I will get on my ball too.the house is nice and clean.

OddshoesOddsocks · 16/04/2020 14:49

Hi everyone!

39 weeks today here and spending the afternoon on my ball. We’ve been for a walk today which made her feel very low and my hips are sore so I’m going to have a clary sage bath later!

I had my first real panic last night which is unlike me. I’ve been quite chilled about the whole thing, calmly self isolating and not worrying to much about the virus and I’ve looked forward to the birth since ttc (I really enjoy it, I know that’s a bit odd!). For some reason I got into bed last night and my mind went into overdrive! All of a sudden i really didn’t want to give birth, it’s really going to hurt and it’ll be horrendous and I don’t want to do it then ‘dp is going to bring the virus home and we’ll all die!’. Completely OTT and unlike me but I felt so sick and panicky I had to wake dp up!

I’m feeling ok today (apart from tired and grumpy from my bad night) but it really shocked me! I need to get tidied up today, the house is a state and I don’t feel ready now!

Sorry for the (unhelpful) vent, I just needed to get it out!

Moussemum · 16/04/2020 17:42

@OddshoesOddsocks I think it’s totally normal to have a panic being pregnant in a pandemic.i think it raises your anxiety.I am just trying to get everything organised for baby’s arrival.i find that helps me calm down a little.i haven’t even been for a walk in 5 weeks as I have asthma and GD as well and I’m frightening of catching the virus.my neighbours are out in the street chatting but keeping distance from each other and I just shout/chat over the fence.i have only left my house for hospital appointments.i have a good sized garden I can walk about in.keep us up to date with how you are doing.

Maggie90 · 16/04/2020 18:47

I’m still waiting for these babies. Every morning I log on to see if any bundles have arrived!

@KHall84, i got to 40+ 6 everyday was hell from 39 ha!

KHall84 · 16/04/2020 18:52

@maggie90 yes it definitely is he'll first time round it didn't bother me but this time I have nothing else to focus on lol

I have been running up and down field today with my 4yr old doing his exercise for the day so am hoping this might start something off but I doubt it lol

nicciw87 · 16/04/2020 19:18

Well second sweep for me today and was no change from 2 weeks ago still only 1cm dilated and cervix still a bit long so disheartening consultant said he would be shocked if I went in next 2 days so looks like IL be going overdue x

Maggie90 · 16/04/2020 19:47

@nicciw87

I was the same With my sweep at 40+4, I was really disheartened. When I googled it everywhere just said you’re not near spontaneous delivery. He then came on his own 2/3 days later. Keep spirits up! I honestly thought I’d have to be induced.

@OddshoesOddsocks
I hope you’re feeling better today. I was exactly the same in the week before having baby. I’ve been a lot more relaxed since getting home. Hospital experience was actually lovely, they are all being very careful and they are all calm.

Birth did hurt, but 5 days on i just can’t believe how much of an amazing experience it was. I’d do it 20 more times to have my bubba. I have now banked the experience as really special (weird)!

Also, sod the house work! I spent 3 weeks solid cleaning and tidying and the house was still a mess when I went into labour. I had a whole grand plan of cleaning for Sunday which obviously went out of the window with baby coming. You will not care one little bit when you bring your baby home.

Husband and I now both have duvets and a pillow on each sofa and wer camping out downstairs ha!

Beanie1981 · 16/04/2020 19:56

Interesting to hear about the sweeps as I think this will be me on Monday's appointment - I am really not looking forward to it. Was induced last time and it was so painful and drawn out. The breaking of the waters was worse than the birth!
@OddshoesOddsocks I'm completely with you - I vary from completely fine to proper panic stations.
@Moussemum are you feeling better after the sweep?
@fatisnotafeeling - how are you doing - lots of ball bounding and the front position helps for turning - this really worked for me this time.
@Sgeld122 congratulations! Did they make you stay in for awhile?

nicciw87 · 16/04/2020 19:56

I really hope so @Maggie90 with my other I was either in labour or given birth by now so the thought of going overdue is killing me especially when he was weighing over 8lbs today already x

KHall84 · 16/04/2020 21:31

@Maggie90 just a quick question did your baby become more active just before labour started ?

My little one has been moving pretty much none stop for last 2 hrs or more and causing alot of pressure below and there big movements he is doing xx

OddshoesOddsocks · 16/04/2020 21:47

Thanks everyone! Feeling a bit more back to normal today, I’ve had a lovely clary sage bath this evening and baby feels nice and low and very wiggly.
Can you overdose on clary sage? I’ve gone for it today in the bath, the oil burner and in baby oil rubbed in! Grin
