Hopefully the last sweep will have done something @SGeld122. Waiting now is just awful and analysing every single pain and niggle I don't think I'd be too bad if I was actually sleeping

Sgeld122 · 12/04/2020 18:11

@nicciw87, I'm hoping so, another sweep Wednesday so hoping that will set things off.
Me too, am sure your the same up and down all night for toilet or trying to comfortable.

@nicciw87 this is also my 4th DC I have a DD18 DD10 DS8 and another boy on the way.
I am very very lucky in that I have 2 girls already and I keep telling myself that and of course that I have a son but my experience of the difference sexes has been immense.

I know logically that it doesn't matter what sex a baby is and that personalities are just different but my DDs have been so vastly different to DS. Unfortunately DS is and always has been a very difficult child and I don't feel even now that we ever bonded, I love him very much of course but we just don't have that bond I have with the eldest 2.
I have also had some awful life experiences where men are concerned, Childhood abuse etc and I feel a crushing responsibility to raise a good man and worry so very much that my sons won't be.

My psychologist has been amazing and said that these feelings are valid and understandable, that I need to accept them for what they are but that is so very very difficult.

I am currently sat in a bath with clary sage hoping that it gets things moving, I think building up the birth and him being here is making my anxiety surrounding my feelings worse.

fatisnotafeeling · 12/04/2020 18:31

@Moussemum, if DH can't be there then my mum will definitely be there and she is very very supportive but it's not quite the same really.
I am absolutely dreading this labour but also need it to be over because the anxiety surrounding him being here is awful so I just need him to be here.

Thank you for your kind words and also to @nicciw87, it's so reassuring that others do understand.

nicciw87 · 12/04/2020 18:35

@fatisnotafeeling I know everyone says it but every child is different. As I said I have 3 boys 11, 5 and 4. My 4 year old is trouble he is mental and I get the whole not bonding properly with them as all I seem to do is shout and punish him suspected ADHD. But honestly my 5year old easiest child in the world never went through terrible 2s very lovable and loves girls and girl stuff so maybe ur next wee boy will be the same xx

It's been good to read this thread. Congrats to all the births.

I was due May 3rd but after having my 36 week scan the baby is only around 5lb and gone below on the chart. I then had a scare in the day unit when the baby decided to play with their cord (didn't know that at the time) was having a heart monitor check and the next thing I know is the midwife is pressing the emergency red button and I was getting rushed down to the labour ward. I thought I was going to have to have an emergency c section and it freaked me out. Thankfully after an hour on the machine everything was fine and I was told I could go home.

They said I'd have been induced this weekend but with it being Easter said to go in on Tuesday to be induced. I always knew I was likely to be induced as my pregnancy hasn't gone smoothy - high risk, high bmi, tinzaparin injections every day into tummy, extra Asprin, sick most days since September, terrible back pain, borderline geastional diabetes at 28 weeks so had to go on a strict diet and do blood prics 4 times a day, having to go on metformin for the diabetes which made me sick, every scan the baby being in an awkward position, having to see a mixture of diabetic Dr's, haematology department every week. It's not been easy and I'm so close to the end it's unreal. It's gone so quickly for me but I've absolutely hated it all. The past 6 weeks have been so different with the virus, all my appointments cancelled and on the phone it just hasn't been the same. My husband was a great support during these appointments and the fact he can't come is hard for me mentally. I'm going to find the induction difficult on my own but at least he can come when I'm finally in active labour. I've always hated the thought of giving birth, the fear of the pain and unknown does scare me.

Waters didn’t go until I was pushing.

I think I’m still in shock from it all! I got mild contractions at 2am every 11 minutes until 4am then an almighty contraction that ramped up contractions to every 4 minutes l. We set off for hospital at 5am because I was sure I wasn’t ready because it had only been an hour of contractions. Husband insisted I went to hospital and practically carried me in.

Arrived at hospital at 6.15am 5/6cm dilated got in the pool, contractions every 3 minutes until 7am and then I needed to push!! They didn’t believe me ha. He was out 15 minutes later!

I am absolutely in love. I cannot wait for you all to have your babies. I can’t stop looking at him and can’t actually believe he’s here!!!

I

Maggie90 · 13/04/2020 02:10

I had absolutely no signs in terms of cramping or anything else to indicate he was coming, wasn’t even 100% they were contractions until I timed them coming every 9-11minutes for an hour. They just came out of nowhere.

I can honestly say it was surreal. before I’d even registered I was in labour, I was fully into major contractions. Very different birth from my first 12 years ago.

You’ve all got this ladies!! Once he was out, I was just absolutely euphoric that it was all over. It really is true when people say ‘it’s over so quickly.

I’ve just remembered, I thought his head was already out (husband and midwife were not aware I was pushing at this point), and midwife had to get another midwife in as his heart rate dropped. I remember thinking it’s ok he’s nearly flipping out, but he wasn’t! I was told to push, I protested as you do and then just thought Oh screw it, I will. Head out with that push. Two more pushes and he was out!

Gas and air helped! Just remember to inhale very deeply. Takes the edge off.

I’m staying in thread waiting for all of your bubbas to come.

nicciw87 · 13/04/2020 07:46

Welcome @ChickenNugget86 make sure u get walking this week and get on ur ball down scrubbing floors etc get baby in the right position and ur bishop score up. Aww brilliant story @Maggie90 sounds like my third first pain to born was 6hours and 3 of those were bearable. That was 5 years ago though so can't remember if it was suprise contractions or not lol. Aww can't wait to meet this little one myself. It's my fourth but my partner's first so I'm super excited for him he's great with my others as it is xx

Moussemum · 13/04/2020 18:42

@Maggie90 congratulations on your baby boy.
I have had some dull achy pains round my lower stomach and back, period like pain but then twinges on the lower left like irritable bowel.I have been 3 times for poos today. lol.my bum is sore now.Is it my body getting ready for labour?I told my partner not to have a beer tonight.

Maggie90 · 14/04/2020 00:55

@Moussemum

That’s probably the only thing I can pinpoint pre labour, had a funny stomach day before.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed your bubbas going to make an early arrival. Are you hoping to use midwife unit or delivery ward?

How are you feeling tonight, cramps getting any worse?

nicciw87 · 14/04/2020 07:00

@Maggie90 I was raging yesterday as had a bad tummy all day and still nothing by first scan I'm due tomorrow and nothing is moving this wee one even cumin tea yuk lol.

R2D2abc · 14/04/2020 07:08

I was watching all you to see who gives birth.

Gave birth last night after I had a sweep on Sunday evening. Was loosing since then my bloody show and plug. Went for a 30 minutes walk at 9pm yesterday, then decided to go and get checked as pain was unbearable but contractions not so regular.
Was assessed at 10:30 pm told was 4-5 cm.
At 11:06pm he was born in his bag with the placenta. No time for pain relief, I screamed like never in my life, but at least now I have him.

Good luck girls, you can do this!!

nicciw87 · 14/04/2020 07:48

@R2D2abc congratulations were u overdue? And glad to here the sweep worked for u I'm hoping mine does on Thursday if I haven't gone by then

KHall84 · 14/04/2020 08:02

@Maggie90 congratulations and well done hope your enjoying your little bundle of joy xx

I cleaned house too to bottom yesterday sorted a couple of cupboards i had left and even cleaned the floors on my hands and knees Am 39 weeks today so I decided to also have a clary sage oil bath for 20mins yesterday on the hope it starts to do something if I have a couple of them this week xx

How is everyone else getting on ? Xx

R2D2abc · 14/04/2020 08:03

No, I was 37+5 yesterday.
Had severe SPD and gestational diabetes.
Was due to be induced at 39 weeks on the 22nd.
Thankfully he came so I can enjoy him and feel a bit better now.

He was born in his sac and with the placenta, all surreal still.

nicciw87 · 14/04/2020 09:35

@KHall84 Clary sage is doing absolutely nothing for me. Also had cumin tea and cinnamon tea and not a fidge from him too cosy in there. By first scan due tomorrow but they left it at lmp which is Saturday. Really hope I don't go over think it would put me over the edge never went over with other 3

KHall84 · 14/04/2020 09:41

@nicciw87 I used clary sage last time I had 2 or 3 baths with it from 39 weeks and I went into labour on my due date I found it better in the bath than rubbing oil on my tummy so am hoping for the same this time hopefully as I am same as you don't want to go over really I can have a sweep on Monday but am going to decline this time xx

nicciw87 · 14/04/2020 09:56

@KHall84 I don't have a bath unfortunately really missing it ATM usually go to my mums

fatisnotafeeling · 14/04/2020 12:38

Hi All

@nicciw87 thank you for the words of support and for experience of your boys have different personalities. I keep trying to tell myself that he could be just like my eldest 2 and not a devil child 😬 😂.

I am due to be induced tomorrow, I have been having on/off contractions for days now so I am hoping that it will be quick.
I have cleaned this morning and just about to wash and straighten my hair, I'm going to have my eldest out it in a french plait for induction to keep it out of my way. My hair is very curly so it takes ages to wash and straighten. I am also going to try and take some pictures of the DC and my bump later as I don't have any at all and don't want to regret that later, this is def my last pregnancy.

Hope everyone else is holding up ok.

nicciw87 · 14/04/2020 20:20

@fatisnotafeeling good luck for your induction tomorrow hope it's quick xx
