Finger crossed for you @KHall84!

My Midwife’s just been and given me a sweep. She said I’m 2cm and nice and soft but need to thin out a bit. Should be the next few days but we all know that that’s a complete guess!

I’m on the ball now, tried nipple stimulation last night which started a few tightenings then nothing but will try again now I’ve been swept!

Good luck everyone. Hopefully not long now!

Oh god how is everyone checking to feel their cervix??! I’ve never done such a thing, wouldn’t have a clue.
It’s making me frustrated that you are all having sweeps. I understand nationwide rules in place like no visitors in the wards etc but it’s frustrating when decisions are made trust by trust. Mine has no sweeps or inductions at all.

KHall84 · 21/04/2020 15:24

@Moussemum thanks I hope yours works as well keep me updated

@nicciw87 I have stimulated nipples which caused braxton hicks again but thats it

@123456kent I have checked my cervix before I was even pregnant but if you Google it they tell you how to check your cervix its really easy once you know how xx

Well I have st

nicciw87 · 21/04/2020 20:39

Well @KHall84 @OddshoesOddsocks anymore movement on the baby front? I'm just chilling with feet in lavender oil they are aching after a nice walk earlier. Also just sterilised bottles and re did baby bag don't know why just had a mad notion that it needed done

Beanie1981 · 21/04/2020 21:20

@123456kent I agree - I've been told a sweep is not going to happen but they will put me straight on the drip and try to break my waters, but that's mainly because my BP is so high and they are worried about my hypertension.

Good luck ladies - I am keeping an eye on the forum!

Sgeld122 · 21/04/2020 21:24

Fingers crossed for you all that your little bundles make there appearance soon xx

@nicciw87 nothing for me other than braxton hicks all day long and I have bounced on ball pretty much all day, had clary sage bath and rubbed it on my belly and I have stimulated the nipples and used breast pump so not much else I can try now am going to go for walk tomorrow but again am not getting hopes up that things are going to progress or I will be disappointed again xx

OddshoesOddsocks · 21/04/2020 21:31

Nothing here either @nicciw87!

I think i had a bit of waters leaking earlier, felt a pop and a trickle but it was only a tiny bit, nothing dramatic. Hind waters maybe??

Bounced on my ball, clary sage oil and nipple stimulation this eve. Might have a quick clary sage bath before bed and attempt to dtd. I REALLY want it to happen in the night because dp works an hour away and dd2 was super fast so if not tonight I want her to wait til tomorrow night!

nicciw87 · 21/04/2020 21:36

@OddshoesOddsocks if u think it was ur waters they will want to check you they like to induce within 24-48 hours if it is because of risk of infections.
@KHall84 im just hoping to go to bed one night and wake up with serious contractions I stead of sitting about wondering about all the signs.
@Beanie1981 have they not even checked to see if ur dilating?

KHall84 · 21/04/2020 21:41

@nicciw87 yes am the same but I definitely don't think it will be tonight for me I feel very normal other than the constant braxton hicks its all I have concentrate on all day is will I or won't I lol

@OddshoesOddsocks you should call up if waters although my hypnobirthibg teacher did say the sooner you call if it is the waters they will start the 24hrs from then so if you call a bit later they will start it later so more chance of going on your own rather than being induced if that makes sense.

My waters did t go last time they had to pop mine in labour so can't give any other advice than that xx

Beanie1981 · 21/04/2020 21:49

@nicciw87 they just told me that on Thursday I'm in at 4pm and they will insert a pessary and then break the waters. They seem really keen to just get me in and out, which I understand in the current climate but I had a really bad experience last time with induction where it took 5 times to break. I am going to ask where I am on the Bishop's Score before they go anywhere near me. I plan to be as prepared as possible this time but also question, as last time I just accepted everything.

OddshoesOddsocks · 21/04/2020 21:59

My waters have only ever gone at the last minute before so it was an odd feeling! I’ll see how we get on tonight and ring in the morning if nothings happened. It definitely wasn’t wee, I smelt it Grin

Moussemum · 21/04/2020 22:01

Had my baby boy today. It was so fast.Glad to have him in my arms 🤗

KHall84 · 21/04/2020 22:06

@moussemum a massive congratulations and well done am glad mother and baby are doing well and you had a fast delivery xx

OddshoesOddsocks · 21/04/2020 22:24

Congratulations @Moussemum!! Another baby on the thread, hurray!

Not long now everyone.... hopefully!

I’ve come to bed, clary saged up to the eyeballs having potentially had a show but maybe just the remanence of the sweep earlier. Good luck tonight everyone, fingers crossed someone has some news in the morning!

nicciw87 · 21/04/2020 22:46

Congratulations @Moussemum please post birth story when your feeling up to it xx

nicciw87 · 21/04/2020 22:47

@OddshoesOddsocks ihought mine where tricking last week turned out to be just increased discharge I was raging because knew of it had of been waters I would have been nearly done and here I am week a d half later with not a sign he will be here anytime soon

OddshoesOddsocks · 21/04/2020 23:22

@nicciw87 bless you! I was the same last week but this time it came with a pop which is what made me think!

KHall84 · 22/04/2020 06:53

@nicciw87 @OddshoesOddsocks morning how are you both today ? I have no signs this morning and nothing changed over night am not going to stress as much today about it xx I did sleep the best I have slept in weeks though last night lol xx

OddshoesOddsocks · 22/04/2020 07:55

@khall84 glad you got a good sleep!

I had pains every 5 mins for about an hour but pretty light and very manageable. I thought ‘I’ll have a nap while it’s building up’ then woke with dp going to work, no pains and no birth.... I was sure it would happen early hours! 😫

KHall84 · 22/04/2020 08:03

@oddshoesoddsocks oh what a right pain nothing worse than when you really think that its going yo happen this time and it doesn't, maybe there waiting as they want to be St George babies tomorrow lol xx

nicciw87 · 22/04/2020 08:08

@OddshoesOddsocks @KHall84 glad to see your both OK. U going to get checked this morning @OddshoesOddsocks. I have been up most of the night in agony and no not from contractions I think I have a uti. Just my luck 4 days overdue and get the first one of this whole pregnancy any hints on dealing with one? X

OddshoesOddsocks · 22/04/2020 08:18

@KHall84 fingers crossed! She is due tomorrow so I wouldn’t mind!

@nicciw87 oh no! Cranberry juice and lots and lots of water is all I can advise until you can get to the drs. I had a chest infection a few weeks ago and managed to get antibiotics after a short phone appointment to the gp.
Yes I’ll ring today and see what they say. I’d rather not go in though and I don’t know if they’d come and see me again as she only came yesterday!

nicciw87 · 22/04/2020 08:29

@OddshoesOddsocks usually if it might be waters its up to assessment unit they do a swab called an amniosure to tell if it is waters. Please after a sweep it's more likely that ur waters might go. Yeh going to phone doctors now hopefully they will check my urine see what's going on.

OddshoesOddsocks · 22/04/2020 08:37

@nicciw87 good luck!

I’ll see what they say, it’s a logistical nightmare getting to hospital from here at the best of times!
