Same, @LexiM, but I think at this stage you just need to do what your body is telling you - I believe it gets better after the first trimester, not long to go! Your weekend sounds nice though, bet you can’t wait to tell your dad!

I’m just in from dinner with friends, I’m glad I showed my face but would rather have not gone, I spent a fortune and was just too tired to enjoy it as much as usual really. Ahh well. Tomorrow night we have dinner with my husband’s friends and their wives and girlfriends (including the one who is a midwife at the hospital we’ve chosen) so another night of watching what we say! So sick of it now, just want to be able to talk about it. Then Sunday we’re finally getting to tell my auntie and cousin, haven’t seen them since before Xmas and have been dying to tell them! The circle of people who know is getting bigger and bigger and it’s making me a bit uncomfortable but I just have to keep reminding myself that it’s people we would turn to should the worst happen anyway...

SkyBlue20 · 06/03/2020 22:20

@Daisythesnail I was thinking that about people realising they know each other too, it must happen! Not had to change trousers yet but dreading the faff that a constantly changing body is going to cause - hoping for a reasonably warm spring and summer so I can just wait about in big dresses that should last 😬

@Quiffy How did your meal go?

@KelMcC Glad the midwife appt went well ☺️

SkyBlue20 · 06/03/2020 22:28

*waft not wait (but I guess there will be a lot of waiting too!)

LexiM · 06/03/2020 22:41

@skyblue20 I agree about just trusting my body to know when to rest. I’m just going with the flow.

I know what you mean also about more people knowing, sounds like I’ve told a similar amount of people to you. I joked I would have to start making a list of who I’ve told to remember Smile

Spark27 · 07/03/2020 07:22

Morning ladies. I had such a rubbish nights sleep. Fell asleep early but then up to wee, and then had to kick DH out for snoring, and felt like I was constantly waking up due to being uncomfortable. Even with a massive pregnancy pillow sleeping on my side is awful. I feel like my shoulders are constantly aching, no matter what position i try.

I'm looking forward to being able to wear my maternity jeans. I got some under the bump ones that I loved last time, so I hope I still love them. I'm ok in normal jeans in the morning, but by about 1600 I'm popping open the button. Last time I found a belly band was quite useful to cover the period between open button and finding the right maternity jeans.

MrsD1990 · 07/03/2020 07:28

I can't wait to tell more people. At the moment we've only told my mum (I told her as soon as I got my bfp) but next weekend we are going to visit family and then we'll tell my husband's parents and siblings and my brother and SIL. Husband didn't want his parents to know too early.

It's really weird going for dinner with friends and not being able to talk to them about such a big party of my life. I was out on Thursday night and the topic of babies came up and I obviously spoke about it as if I'm not expecting. Really not my usual personality to not be open with my friends but we're not telling anyone who isn't family until after the 12 week scan.... Can't wait. I'm so thrilled about our pregnancy I want to shout it from the roof tops! But after our scare at 5 weeks we are certain we want to do it after our 12 week scan.

MrsD1990 · 07/03/2020 07:32

Oops posted at the same time as spark! Sorry you had a bad night's sleep @Spark27 do you have to sleep on your side right now? I thought it was later on in pregnancy that we had to do that but I might be wrong.

Spark27 · 07/03/2020 08:53

I usually sleep on my front, but find that's really uncomfortable now (esp with the evening bloat). My mw said about not sleeping on your back due to the whole blood supply thing. Not sure if it's an issue now, or until we get bigger. I thought as I wasnt sure I'd sleep on my side just in case. But I hate it!

I cant wait to tell people either. Provided all is ok at the scan we're going to tell family mothers day weekend, and then make it more widely known the week after

Quiffy · 07/03/2020 09:15

Morning everyone! My night went really well, I actually didn’t feel nauseated at all while out, it was bliss. I ended up staying up for hours once I got home as it felt so good. Then I worried myself as I had some tightness across my stomach and I googled it (bad idea) but I’m pretty sure it was gas 😹😹 I convinced myself something bad was happening as I told them before 12 weeks 🤪🤪

Nausea back with a vengeance this morning though! I was planning on some cleaning but DH has banished me to the sofa with some toast.

@Spark27 ahh no, any chance of a nap today? I’ve always been a side sleeper luckily. It must be horrific to change 😭 I’m thinking about getting some maternity leggings as my usual leggings cut me across my belly button which is sore so I’ve been wearing them lower but conscious of the love handles hanging out

@SkyBlue20 sorry your night wasn’t so good :( least it’s getting closer to the 12 week mark now. Your Sunday sounds super exciting though!

@LexiM getting drunk night out doesn’t sound fun at all, I’d stay home too for that. Telling your dad will be wonderful though ❤️

@MrsD1990 the 12 week is going to come around quickly I think, I can’t believe we’re all going to start getting into double digits soon 😻

SkyBlue20 · 07/03/2020 09:44

@Spark27 Sorry to hear you had a bad night’s sleep. I’m trying my best to stick to my side as much as poss but allowing some back and some front sleeping, just to be comfortable! Do you have a chance for a nap today?

@MrsD1990 It’s so weird having to pretend nothing is going on, isn’t it?! Not long to go now...

@Quiffy Glad you had a good time and could enjoy it! Was it amazing getting to tell them all? Sure the tightness was just from the food, nothing to worry about ☺️ Sorry to hear the nausea is back, good husband though making you rest up.

EllieGolightly · 07/03/2020 11:55

Morning all

Going for my private scan at 3 this afternoon, and I'm almost letting myself get excited. For those that have already had scans, or had babies before this one, how long does it take for them to find the baby normally? I'm 9 weeks 2 days, should I be ok for abdominal ultrasound, or will they have to go internal? I'm a larger lady, 5ft2 and size 18-20, is all my tum gonna get in the way? Can you really drink a whole pint of water, and hold it in for an hour??

bluemoon2468 · 07/03/2020 12:09

@EllieGolightly at the place where I'm going for my private scan tomorrow they conduct all scans internally until 10 weeks, after which they try abdominally but they do say if you have a lot of tummy fat they will likely need to go internal for a better picture. At 9+2 and plus size I would say internal is most likely, but you could always ask them to try abdominal first?

Quiffy · 07/03/2020 12:12

@elliegolighty good luck for your scan! I’m also larger and she found mine straight away at 8+4 I was really surprised! No internal needed. I thought my belly would get in the way but no. I drank the water and it was fine but she did say my bladder wasn’t too full so maybe spoilt have drank more.

@SkyBlue20 he’s on his best behaviour as he wants me to drive him to McDonald’s later 😹😹

Quiffy · 07/03/2020 12:13

Should not spoilt. Can’t even blame autocorrect for that one 🤪

Treaclepie19 · 07/03/2020 13:00

I have a high BMI and my scan at 9+3 was abdominal. In fact normally they can see even earlier than that abdominally for me.

Uugh is anyone else fed up of trying to decide on food?!
It would be bad enough just for me but deciding for the 4yo too is a nightmare.

Zaalfruit · 07/03/2020 13:54

@EllieGolightly deffo ask to be seen abdominally ! I got mine done by the Nhs at 9 weeks 1 day and they did it abdominally . I really struggled with keeping the water in me , I tried to time it perfectly so I watched Power to take the water of my mind. Best of luck and enjoy - and don’t worry if they do it internally just relax and enjoy the Baby screen .

Zaalfruit · 07/03/2020 13:58

Also anyone else worried that they are loosing weight? I have always been a size 14 and now I have dropped to a size 10 my skin is suffering with acne spots and I look pale And tired constantly. Been trying to carb up by having dry toast. My ketone test came up on the verge of dehydration- but water/food and me don’t agree anymore ?

Treaclepie19 · 07/03/2020 14:01

@Zaalfruit I've always lost weight in the first trimester, with my 4yo I lost about a stone and a half.
I wouldn't worry as long as you're hydrated. Are they going to check on you? If youre almost dehydrated they may need to put you on a drip.

BecauseReasons · 07/03/2020 14:09

Yeah, I'm also struggling to drink without nausea. I've been mainlining ice lollies and sugar free jellies. Maybe give that a go?

SkyBlue20 · 07/03/2020 14:09

@zaalfruit everything I’ve read says that the first trimester is just about getting through it and doing what you can in terms of food and exercise etc - a lot of people lose weight because of the nausea but the baby will take what it needs from you and it’s so tough that you just need to do what feels best for you - you should hopefully be able to get back to ‘normal’ soonish. I too am suffering with dreadful skin though - you could do a dot-to-dot on my forehead with the spots and I have huge red, dry patches around my mouth. They say baby girls steal their mother’s beauty so who knows, maybe we’re having girls!
Can you stomach fruit juice or cordial or even just ice cubes/an ice lolly to help with the dehydration?

Is anyone else finding they’re getting really out of breath really quickly? I couldn’t read a full paragraph out loud before without having to catch my breath a few times!

Just did a first trimester yoga session from a YouTube video and LOVED it, I’ve really missed yoga so I think this’ll be a new habit - I usually only do it for the physical but it really helped with the mental today too, I don’t think I realised how anxious and in my own head I was!

Zaalfruit · 07/03/2020 15:50

Thank you everyone xx I have no appetite and everything just frankly looks unappealing. Nuts and popcorn I enjoy but I worry about the calories And fat content but even ice lolly make me gag . Ooh I might look into sugar free jelly . Yep they said next time they will hook me to an iv if I’m dehydrated- so been pushing myself to drink 1 litre a day .

Indigogirl88 · 07/03/2020 18:13

@SkyBlue20 hope you enjoy tonight more

@Spark27 snap I so cant wait for maternity wear I've already been looking online but we are gonna be hot and sweaty this summer ladies I am thinking maxi dresses and flip flops all the way!

Weve got our date for the 12 week scan through yaaay something to look forward too. Been enjoying my holiday but also got lots of anxiety and not sleeping well either so I am hoping itll shift!

Indigogirl88 · 07/03/2020 18:15

@SkyBlue20 snap again for the breathlessness I am getting it when I walk too fast

Spark27 · 07/03/2020 18:33

Managed a nap (90 mins!) and then woke up starving so had a leftover chip butty. Pregnancy is classy. In that time DH looked after DD, got her dinner, gave her a bath. Really hoping I get a burst of energy in the 2nd tri cos I feel useless at the mo.

Treaclepie19 · 07/03/2020 18:48

@Spark27 I'm the same. I fell asleep at 4 while my husband did our sons dinner and played with him. Then he got him ready for bed. I feel absolutely useless at the moment.
