Early Oct babies part 2!

Hi girls, hope I’ve started new thread correctly 😕

Had my scan and husband was allowed in 😊 measuring 4 days ahead so new permanent due date is 3rd Oct. Nuchal measurement very small so looking good, but obviously need to hear back about combined test. Baby was moving around like crazy! She found it so hard to take the measurements! 16 week appt cancelled - will be a telephone checkup.

Any nub theory guesses? I don't really understand it tbh... not even sure what bit is the nub!

Congrats, @Bluemoon2468 and amazing that your husband was allowed in 💕 Must be nice to have a 'real' due date and to have seen baby moving around so much!
Afraid I'm pretty useless on the nub theory, too! I think if it points up it's a boy but if it's straight it's a girl but I'm not sure I could even identify the nub 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hopefully somebody else might come along with some idea!

@Lucylou37 no, we weren't, but after so many ladies being told on here no partners I was worried. He did have to wait in the carpark until I was called in though, then I had to go and get him. We had a private scan a few weeks ago, but this one was so much clearer and baby was so much bigger and more active. It was lovely 🥰 Feels so good to get past this hurdle and know that the risks are so much lower now.

@SkyBlue20 think if it's that white line at the top then according the theory it looks like a girl? Who knows haha 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was getting really strong girl vibes though, I said "she's moving around so much" at one point, it just slipped out!

I think girl, but purely on gut feeling looking at the whole scan. 😆

Congratulations @bluemoon2468 great scan photo! Lucky husband too! I'm going to go boy from skull but I'm rubbish at it. I think there are Nib Queens on Facebook who will happily do it for you - read it on another thread here.

@Indigogirl88 Ehhhh that's rubbish. Get online and do some shopping, just because you're inside doesnt mean you cant wear nice clothes. Especially when people will be after bump shots. Maybe he's just keeping a brave face over scan for you, or it hasnt sunk in properly yet for him

My scan is next Tuesday. I've checked the hospital website which currently says 1 nominated person can accompany you to scans and antenatal appointments. I also have consultant appointment on Monday so think maybe I'll ring the hospital on Friday and check.

@bluemoon2468 lovely scan photo! Congratulations! I have zero idea about nub theory. My DP has 100% success rate in guessing peoples baby genders so far! He says boy for us. So I'm intrigued as to whether hes correct again! Friend is due any day now and doesnt know what shes having so we're waiting to see if it's a girl and he will still be bragging hes the gender knowing king!

If it's any help to anyone. My last 12 week scan they were unable to do NT measurement as I had a retroverted uterus so she struggled to see anything. We didn't come away with any scan photos either as it was just impossible for her to get a good view.
I was asked to go back a few weeks later for a quad test. This is basically a different blood test to the one they do at 12 week scan but also gives you a likelihood of some syndromes. I cant quite remember but I think it's not as extensive (possibly only checks for downs not pataus and edwards). It is definitely done at a later date. I think I was 14 weeks. You get results sent in post.

The bloods taken by midwife at booking appointment check for your general health so anemia, STIs such as HIV, your blood group, things that are genetic such a sickle cell. At least that's my understanding. The ones taken at 12 week scan are used along with the NT measurement to figure out the risk of down's, Edward's and pataus. I got a helpful leaflet about combined screening in my maternity pack the midwife gave me at booking appointment.

@SkyBlue20, the straight white line at the top, parallel to spine is making me think girl. But I have only looked online at the nub theory for about 5mins so likely talking rubbish!

@Indigogirl88 do some online shopping! With all the stuff that's going on you might as well treat yourself!

@Quiffy I'm just staying away from everyone, it's just annoying. I might put one of those posters on the door about being pregnant and self isolating, but that might also be going a bit far.

@indigogirl88 my midwife told me I'd either get the matb1 form sent in post or emailed to me?

Omg all over now !! Scan all done . Blood tests all done . Blood pressure was off the rocket - ketone testing all done . Need to keep a check on my blood test . The time they took to see me - I even got a flu jab done .

I think last time I didn't get my MatB form until closer to the 20w point. I dont think you have to give it to your employer for a while, and obvs we cant at the moment. I got it at a mw appt before, but guessing this time it will likely be in the post.

Oh @bluemoon2468 I am thrilled for you, great photo too! I have no idea about nub theory, I really don’t get it.
I know you are on Furlough, I have just been out on it on full pay which I’m really grateful for. Does it affect maternity leave or not because you’re still fully employed just on temporary leave? Or don’t they know?! I have no idea or any idea what I’m going to do with my time now!

@Indigogirl88 Deffo some online shopping. I’m feeling rubbish at the moment when I don’t bother with proper clothes so will definitely be getting some maternity ones at a later stage. Sorry to hear about your partner’s reaction, to be honest some days I wish my husband was like that purely because I can’t say anything that makes the situation better about potentially not seeing the scan in real life. He’s so upset by it and keeps saying it could be the same for the 20 week scan. We don’t even know yet if he can or can’t come!
