@BntTowers I've been looking online for some maternity bits as well this morning. No idea what I'll wear when I go back to work!

I've heard that I am being classed as a key worker this morning, still not told them I'm pregnant so waiting to see how it all unfolds.

I thought I was feeling better but I'm 11+2 and sickness is still lingering.

Has anyone under a "normal, healthy" pregnancy had any contact with a midwife other then the booking app yet? I know we dont need to book it until werk 15 but I would have thought we might have heard something by now. I know I probably just need to be patient until after the scan but I just wondered what everyone else was getting.

Spark27 · 24/03/2020 09:38

@Indigogirl88, do you mean any contact apart from the booking in appt? No, after the booking in appt you wont see (probably now that will move to speak) to the mw until the 16 week appt. I got told at my booking in appt that the details of the 16w would be posted to me. Just going to wait out. Obvs if you have any issues you can call them at any time

Indigogirl88 · 24/03/2020 09:41

I just re read your post @LexiM of your day yesterday and it made me laugh, it was a carbon copy of mine re working at home and trying not to feel so guilty, among eating snacks and napping

Indigogirl88 · 24/03/2020 09:43

Thanks @Spark27 that reassures me at least xx

Hope everyone has a good day Flowers

SkyBlue20 · 24/03/2020 10:37

Morning all.

So sorry to hear people are feeling rubbish :-( and sorry to hear about your partner, @Treacle81 - is there any way he can just come and stay with you through this and then worry about the actual moving once it's all a bit calmer, or would that not be practical?

I agree that last night's announcement is basically just forcing people to catch up to where we (and most people) were at anyway - I don't see it as a 'lockdown' as long as people are still able to go for walks and to work etc - it's more like enforced social distancing, which we've all been doing for a while now. I do fear it'll mean definitely no husband at the scan though - we're just going to see what happens there, we'd be gutted if he can't go but completely understand and I'll see if they'll let me FaceTime him.

I haven't bought anything maternity yet but have been looking at bras. I'm quite superstitious so am waiting until after my scan on Thursday just in case - just hope places are still delivering then, who knows at the rate this is all changing day to day! 🙈

@IndigoGirl88 My midwife booked me in for my 16 week appointment at my very first appointment (the random one they do round here before the booking in appt) but come to think of it, then I got transferred to a different trust as the hospital I chose is in it and then they lost my initial form from the midwife so I probably need to ask about that at my scan!

I've been quite productive this morning for once in my life so should probably continue and not lose my momentum 😴

Quiffy · 24/03/2020 11:18

The secretary for my consultant just rang me to make sure I know there is no partners allowed - person on the appointment only - for my scan and appointment. Feel sorry for her needing to phone and tell all the people this :( at least my consultant appointment is going ahead for the time being.

rainbow178 · 24/03/2020 11:34

I have a consultant appointment on Thursday- think I might ring up tomorrow and see if they still advise going. I ordered a few bits of maternity clothes online just in case there's no deliveries in a few months- felt weird though, I'm only 10 weeks but needs must. I don't quite need a maternity bra yet but will soon, how have people gone about ordering one online? No idea what size to get- do you just order your usual size in maternity or go a size up!? What to do!!?

My nausea is still pretty bad too, especially in the evenings, hoping the end is in sight as I approach 12 weeks....

SkyBlue20 · 24/03/2020 12:01

I have that questions, too, @Rainbow178 - what size do we order?! Is maternity automatically bigger? I need like a 'how to shop' guide, which is not something I ever thought I'd need - I love to shop! 😂

That's a shame, @Quiffy 😔 Hopefully everything will be back to normal for the 20 week scans but they're a lot closer than they feel so we'll see I guess 😔

Can feel myself getting less and less productive as the day goes on - I'm ready to just go sit in the garden and read my book tbh, think that's my lunch break sorted!

Zaalfruit · 24/03/2020 12:50

@Treacle81 omg that sounds so difficult :( sending you all the hugs and best wishes and hopefully time flies back .

People who work in banks will have to go back to work - I got an email from HR saying 16th of April I can’t wfh any more after that . Over it all now.

Zaalfruit · 24/03/2020 12:50

By* @Treacle81

BntTowers · 24/03/2020 13:00

I've just had my telephone appointment. I have a blood test booked in for next week and scan should follow shortly after.
Been classed as low risk which is comforting.

@indigogirl88 The midwife said that after this bloods appointment and my 12 week scan I will get a telephone appointment again for the 16 weeks one. So I suppose I won't hear from the midwife until then.

Spark27 · 24/03/2020 13:01

I think last time round I bought the same size clothes, just in the maternity range. I think they're designed to fit you but cope for expanding bump and boobs and etc.

Just had an email saying that my private gender scan in cancelled as they are being required to help the NHS and can only do essential scans. I completely expected it, but it's still knocked me. Feeling really upset and pissed off with it all. Just want to sit in a corner and cry

Also trying to not get in a fight with a colleague who seems to be implying that because I'm not in the office (some of us are key workers) that my opinion on work stuff isn't valid. Hormones are making me rage

Indigogirl88 · 24/03/2020 13:01

Well done ladies I think we have to take the small wins each day
Like today my local shop has bacon and bread in, that was lunch sorted!

The garden is calling me too, really must tidy it up. I did peg some washing out though so I'm happy with that Smile

Glitterbug86 · 24/03/2020 13:12

12 weeks today. Was meant to have my scan at noon but it was cancelled as I had a scan at 10 weeks due to bleeding, so they said the risk outweighed the benefit to rescan me now. They only rang me 2 hours beforehand.

Gutted as had planned to tell everyone after we had the reassurance of the scan and new photo. We'll still tell them later but am just really disappointed. I could book a private scan but it would kind of defeat the propose of why they didn't do it today and I'd feel it was selfish of me and not doing the best thing for baby and me. I can't help but be sad though.

Glitterbug86 · 24/03/2020 13:19

*purpose

Treaclepie19 · 24/03/2020 13:21

@Glitterbug86 gosh I'm really shocked at that. Does that mean you wont be having your screenings then?
I had one at 9+3 but there is no way I'd be happy with them missing my dating scan because we need to know the nuchal.

Quiffy · 24/03/2020 13:38

@Glitterbug86 that doesnt feel right at all, what about the screenings they do? Really sorry, it's just crap for us at the moment when it should be more magical. Especially no new photo :(

@Spark27 Sorry for your gender scan, I had great visions of one of these too then a lunch out to celebrate. It's so sad but hopefully all worth it in the end!

@Zaalfruit Im so sorry they're making you go back. It's a worrying time as it is without travel and work.

@SkyBlue20 I know, I keep thinking it will be fine at 20 weeks, but I guess that's unlikely too as there are only 8 weeks or so until then. Book in the garden sounds lovely though!

LexiM · 24/03/2020 13:45

Sorry to hear everyone’s disappointments with scans and appointments. It’s so hard to just accept it is what it is and can’t be helped. I did have a feeling private scans would be cancelled too.

We have shut my office today (not that I was in anyway) as our office isn’t deemed essential work. I’ve had a productive and busy morning but now I’ve sat down and had lunch I have no motivation/little work to do! Feeling like a new person today though with less sickness and feeling much better, so just embracing that and getting bits done!

Glitterbug86 · 24/03/2020 14:04

I have no idea about screenings. I'm in Ireland so not sure how differently things are done here. But I had to go to my gp at very beginning to confirm pregnancy and he did some basic blood work/checks. Then I have my booking app at the hospital today (scan was meant to be before it). And I have my 20 week anomaly scan in May.

I actually went in to the hospital earlier to try to still get the scan but they refused and she basically said she's seen 100 times more ppl than I have this week, she could already have covid and give it to me. And that the clinical guidelines are that the risk outweighed the benefit for me.

One poor girl came out to the waiting area crying while I was waiting, I guessed she may have had a missed miscarriage. Poor girl was on her own as no partners allowed in. Kind of put things in perspective too that 2 weeks ago I did see a heartbeat and to my knowledge all is still ok...

SkyBlue20 · 24/03/2020 16:01

So sorry about the cancelled scans everyone :-( Such a strange, strange time to be pregnant. Hopefully towards the end of our pregnancies it will all be back to normal and we can enjoy them a bit more - it's all just a bit anxiety filled at the moment and not what you imagine it to be like, isn't it?

Exciting that you get to tell everyone today though, @Glitterbug86!

Treacle81 · 24/03/2020 17:01

Thanks for all your support girls, means a lot ☺️ I heard that the baby might be able to feel me prodding my tummy so been talking to it and rubbing my tummy a lot today, feels comforting. Can’t tag people separately so MAT CLOTHES - I ordered maternity clothes (usually size 10) got size 12 but defo look a little on the big size so maybe stick to your normal size. BRA- With regards to bra I am a 34C, got measured in Marks and was a 36C, got it on the last strap tho so I’ll get a bit of wear out of it. Happy 12 weeks to those who are today. I work for govt so think I’ll be in the same boat and back to work April as ‘key worker’.My partner has said that he’ll be moving in at end of month, he’s not waiting any longer so that was great to hear. Surely moving is classed as essential! Thanks again for all your nice words xx

@spark27 @glitterbug86 I'm so sorry your scans have been cancelled! I have one tomorrow, didn't realise these were at risk of being cancelled because I thought they were super important - let's see what happens. Fingers crossed.

I'm feeling so sick today 😞 I thought that getting to 12 weeks might signal a turn but I'm now feeling sick from the afternoon onwards instead of in the evening like before. WFH isn't helping, I'm feeling so down being stuck in all day (apart from my short government sanctioned daily walk) and I have a headache which is probably from staring at my laptop all day (at least at work we don't look at screens during meetings or during the commute)

Sorry I'm complaining a lot. I'm so happy to be pregnant but the nausea is hard at the best of times but CV is just making it so much worse. We tried to order ice lollies as part of our supermarket shop because I weirdly crave them when I'm nauseous but nope, couldn't order a single one. Bought orange juice to freeze into big ice cubes instead - hopefully that will be enough.

CharlieBalf · 24/03/2020 17:26

@Indigogirl88 I've called my midwife on a few occasions to discuss medications and consultant appointments but won't see her until 16 weeks.

Got a call from the hospital today to say no partners and I'm so sad! I totally understand and agree with the decisions (I don't particularly want to be sat next to some randeomer) but this is our 'miracle' baby and we have been dreaming about the 12 week scan for six years! Still, it's what it is. Everyone is in the same boat- all our little ones will be born with stories 😂

bluemoon2468 · 24/03/2020 17:55

Hi all 😊 I've been super quiet for a while. It's been such a weird time, it's put a bit of a dampener on the whole thing tbh. Trying to keep my spirits up but it's hard. Was laid off work originally on no pay which was terrifying, but now on 80% pay through the government's scheme thankfully. I'm now 12+1 and have my scan tomorrow - haven't heard anything from them so I'm hoping that means that my husband can still come in. Just going to go down there and see. Sickness is starting to subside but tiredness still going strong! How's everyone else doing?

@Glitterbug86 did you opt out of the nuchal screening? Because surely they can't cancel that?! I would be kicking off because that screening is essential imo.

otterbaby · 24/03/2020 18:03

My scan today was surreal - they'd taken all of the chairs out of the waiting room. Had to use hand sanitiser as soon as we went in. Checked in at reception, and then they asked us to wait either in our car or outside and they would ring us when they were ready! It was also very quiet - only 2 other couples were there at the same time. The last couple times we were there, there must have been at least 40-50 people in the waiting room. Very strange.
