Has anyone just watched the news? Slightly worrying! Are pregnant women seen as being on the vulnerable list? I am home alone, as partner has had to self isolate and my dad was going to drop around supplies tomorrow (but he lives an hour and a half away)! Also, I have my scan on Thursday I am hoping will go ahead! Sending love and hugs to you all during this strange time! Not the best time to be a hormonal mess! Xxxx

BntTowers · 23/03/2020 20:56

@Lucylou37 I feel like it hasn't changed our position too much. Are you able to get any food delivered? I know there's limited availability. There was nothing said about an increased risk as to what was said last week regarding pregnant people.
It was stated that you are still able to go out to the shops to get supplies. You are still able to go to essential medical appointments such as scans. If you are worried call your midwife in the morning.
Try not to panic it is for the safety for everybody.

Zaalfruit · 23/03/2020 21:14

I’m stressing out my mother in law told her brother to come round from Norwich and stay in our spare room _ which we are using as our wfh office. Told my husband I’m leaving him if he allows his uncle who works in a fast food place too come stay - I dunno if I’m being mean or unreasonable , also he is a heavy smoker with a constant cough ... and who knows who he has been with.

Does any one else get stress sickness - I bet my scan , my consultant and midwife appointment are all going to be cancelled . I’m stressing out dunno if it’s the hormones .

Is everyone alright ? Hope everything is going well for everyone. We are all so close to 12 weeks milestone and those who have passed it congratulations !!!

Zaalfruit · 23/03/2020 21:15

@Lucylou37 I’m worried ....hugs and best wishes xxxx

Lucylou37 · 23/03/2020 21:25

@Zaalfruit you are within your rights not to have him to stay! And yes I get stressed easily and anxious about everything, that's why I don't post too much on this group as worried once the floodgates open they won't stop!

@BntTowers thanks for the solid words and reassurance! Really appreciate you taking the time to reply xxxx

Lucylou37 · 23/03/2020 21:26

@Zaalfruit sending hugs to you too and have a nice relaxing bath and a yummy hot drink to relax xxx

CouscousEvaporator · 23/03/2020 21:36

I really don’t think they will cancel our scans, they are too important x try not to worry x

@Zaalfruit no way would he be coming in my house!!! Stick to your guns

Treaclepie19 · 23/03/2020 21:39

They will not cancel our scans. It's too dangerous to.

@Zaalfruit I think you're doing the right thing Flowers

BntTowers · 23/03/2020 21:45

@Zaalfruit say no, it's your house. You are currently using that room and there is no way that your mil gets to decide who is invited to live in your house.

NWnature · 23/03/2020 21:55

@bnttowers good post and I agree with everything you say.

Take care everyone and try to keep positive.

I made it out for a run this morning (first this year!!!) it was tough but felt great to get my blood pumping and fresh air first thing. I was absolutely shattered afterwards though could’ve gone back to sleep for hours but had to log straight on for work!

I am considering paying for Results with Lucy app which has the specific three trimester workouts. Has anyone used it before? Just worried I am rubbish at keeping to anything that’s not a simple run outdoors but thought this looked quite good mix of cardio, strength , Pilates and yoga. Will report back if I take the plunge!

Have a restful eve all x

Spark27 · 23/03/2020 22:05

@lucylou37, I basically read it as you can only go out for essential food (not just a cake that you're craving, although that feels essential sometimes) and medical requirements. If someone can get this stuff for you, then great. If not, you can go, but limit it, maintain distance, etc. And 1 lot of fresh air exercise a day, but again, not around others (unless you live together).
A lot of neighbourhoods are running schemes for food deliveries for vulnerable people. A lot of the farm shops and wholesale/business suppliers are also switching to delivering to homes. They can deliver to doorsteps and step away.

@Zaalfruit, I would lose it if my MIL suggested that. Or any family member at the moment to be fair. Hopefully your other half is on your side.

I dont think they'll cancel scans as they are vital. But they may say no one else to attend with you, or move the location. I'm worried about then cancelling private scans. I have a gender one booked and that's not vital.

Zaalfruit · 23/03/2020 22:13

Thanks everyone .

I stuck to my guns and said nope not having it . I haven’t seen my mum in ages because of social distancing and now you expect me to allow someone else to stay .

Livid at my MIL for demanding his uncle to stay over.

Also is anyone else worried about the location of their scans - I have to walk through a lot of other departments before getting to the maternity ward. Do you think I should wear a mask and glasses or is that really weird?

BntTowers · 23/03/2020 22:17

The way of thinking about it (without getting too deeply into overthinking it for me) is that it is bringing the rest of the county up to speed with what we have been doing for the last week. That's making me feel better about it a bit.
Turn the news off for a bit, watch something silly on telly and try to relax and take care of yourself.
Everyone of us is doing something amazing at the moment. I still marvel at how big and quickly this little baby is growing inside of me. I'm just trying to slow life down a little. Take advantage of the time at home and have regular little pamper sessions to make myself feel better, try to switch off and have a happy little home bubble for a bit.
I hope people aren't getting too stressed about the situation and can manage to focus on what's important at the moment, helping our little babies grow.
X

Spark27 · 23/03/2020 22:18

@Zaalfruit, I think the hospitals will be very locked down. There wont be anyone there who doesn't need to be. Anyone presenting symptoms will not be in a public area. But of course there could be those that aren't displaying symptoms. I think however you feel comfortable is best.
When I went for my scan last week the public areas of the hospital were almost empty. The car park was the emptiest I've ever seen it, even when I was there for my last labour at 2300! And everyone was keeping their distance everywhere.

LexiM · 23/03/2020 23:00

I’m just playing catch up after feeling awful all day. When will it stop!!
@Zaalfruit definitely the right call there, that’s out of order, at any time but especially considering how things are right now.

My hospital said we can bring one person to the scan but I think that will change again now and my husband is getting anxious about that. We had discussed having a private scan if he couldn’t come but I don’t see how that would be possible when it’s not essential medical treatment.

@BntTowers you are right, it’s not really any different to what I was doing anyway either. I totally agree about how amazing pregnancy is and I’m trying to not let this situation ruin every day for me. I do find it stressful working from home because I don’t have as much work at the moment and feel guilty for not doing lots. I really need to learn to just accept it for what it is and go with it!

LostinAusten2 · 23/03/2020 23:21

@BntTowers - really agree with you, I have to stop myself checking the news constantly, really does help keep the anxiety down.

@LexiM - huge sympathies, felt pretty rough today too, and the smell of cooking from the kitchen is just taking over our flat and making feel even dodgier 🤢

And @Zaalfruit - you 100% did the right thing, no way José you should have to accept guests at a time like this because of your mother in law! You’re a better person than me for even thinking about it 😇

And for the record, I think we’re all doing incredibly well ⭐️

BntTowers · 23/03/2020 23:23

@LexiM I really struggled with WFH today. Couldn't concentrate and I got hardly anything done. Just had to tell myself it was ok and I'll try to do more tomorrow ( although that's not looking too hopeful as I can't seem to get to sleep!)

Zaalfruit · 23/03/2020 23:29

Eurgh can’t @ anyone . Tried to avoid the news all day - but all my what’s app groups every second of every moment everyone is taking about the virus and I can’t even tell any one I’m pregnant yet - not till I have my 12 week scan.

My aim from tomorrow is to be positive I worry my anxiety will get out of hand and I have been reading a positive mind set helps a positive birth.

Also has anyone brought any maternity bras or even new knickers ? My upper half have gone huge I don’t even know how to deal with them 😂🤣 also on a positive I got a craving today - frozen cherries and frozen blueberries - demanded husband to get them for me! Any one else got cravings?

Zaalfruit · 23/03/2020 23:32

@BntTowers wfh makes me sleepy ... I have become a super slow slug ... told work it’s my internet connection 😜 (took a 20 min nap accidentally on a group Skype meeting - the voices made me feel all fuzzy and sleepy )

LexiM · 23/03/2020 23:34

@BntTowers I think it’s made worse by the fact my husband always works from home so just gets on with it. I can totally relate to lack of sleep not helping, I can’t get to sleep as feel sick then wake up early because I feel sick!

@zal yes I got a maternity bra, I was falling out of my normal bras and they were digging in. I decided I would just get one to try rather than going up bigger sizes first. It has lots of notches to change the back size and is much more comfy - sexiness has gone out the window 🤣 it looks like a sports bra!
I don’t have any cravings and overall I’m eating less than before. Which currently pleases me but I can’t see I will keep it up the whole way through.

Treacle81 · 24/03/2020 06:53

Hi girls. I’m feeling very down, trying to be positive but been counting days down till my partner is with me at the end of the month and now with this update, might have to add another 3 months and I can’t even think about it. He had arranged for furniture he isn’t moving to line to go to charity but they have now shut. It’s just a mess. Still awful with morning sickness which doesn’t help and yesterday I had sore cramping too which wasn’t great to experience on my own. I ordered some maternity clothes on line as had a feeling shops will start shutting so hope they come. I can’t @ anyone but with regs to exercise, the Results with Lucy (RWL) are doing free Instagram classes live and they are kept in their my story for 24 hrs. So I am planning on doing yesterday evenings boxercise at some point today. I am writing down the exercise routines so can do them as and when I fancy xx

@BntTowers I think WFH at the moment is hard with everything going on. I don't know about you, but I'm constantly dreaming about midwife appointments and scans and being late for everything. Bloody exhausting. Hopefully today is better! Good luck with your appointment today.

@Zaalfruit that is RIDICULOUS. So glad you stood your ground! I was wondering the same about the hospital but I think it will be pretty deserted. Have you got some hand sanitiser you can take with you? And I've been craving French Fancies, much less healthy haha.

@Treacle81 Understandably upset x hope you're as okay as you can be

Treaclepie19 · 24/03/2020 08:51

I'm sorry @Treacle81 that sounds so tough.

I'm struggling today. I've got a cold. My 4yo has a cold.
I got disney plus and obviously he doesn't want to just sit and watch it. I'm worn out 😴🤧

BntTowers · 24/03/2020 09:18

We got Disney + too, not looked on it yet. I'm going to keep it as a treat for tonight.
I've not had any morning sickness for a few days. It's back today in full force. I can already tell that today is not going to be productive at work... Just have to accept that at the moment.

@Treacle81 that sounds so hard. Keep you head up and we are always here to listen. I ordered a few prices of maternity clothes at the weekend, just a few prices that will hopefully see me through. I still need to get some proper maternity bras, so uncomfortable at the moment!
