@Spark27 rant away !!!

Called my hospital today - how silly is this .

They texted me saying Appointment booked for 15th April and 16th April at 10am - then they say they don’t know why they are booked - I am so confused.

I just hope they don’t cancel my 12 week scan - I just want to pass the 12 week mark successfully .

Today I tried to avoid the news all day- can’t handle any more covid 19 talks it stresses me out to the point where I actually feel sick and I puke.

Buzz22 · 20/03/2020 18:19

Thought I'd pop in in with an update from my ends as I had midwife appointment today.
It was face to face not over the phone ( my area has a 'midwife hub'...im not sure whats normal elsewhere. It's a bit like a doctors surgery only with midwives!) My 12 weeks scan is next Friday and she said it's all going ahead but did mention only 1 person with you. I also have an appointment with my consultant on the Thursday which is also to go ahead as planned.
She did mention that they have put in plan a system for anyone showing symptoms later on in pregnancy when they are measuring the bump and monitoring blood pressure regularly. If you have symptoms then, they will do all this at a special maternity check up room in the hospital as they say it's too risky for people to miss those even if they are unwell.

Still no loo roll to be found here though. We are fairly well stocked with food and bits anyway luckily. Planning on a takeaway being delivered this evening from a local restaurant.
Partner is working from home and is much more relaxed now hes not in and out of the office and can hole up with me.
In better news my sickness seems to have passed finally. I hope everyone else starts feeling better soon too!
I see yoga has been recommended already but I've also been enjoying some prenatal pilates on youtube too which I really recommend.

CharlieBalf · 20/03/2020 19:01

Hi all, hope you don't mind me jumping in. First baby (IVF) due Oct 5th and obviously hyperventilating over every twitch and overanalyzing every symptom 😂
Very nervous about current circumstances, anyone else worried about how the isolation will effect things like birth classes?

NWnature · 20/03/2020 20:11

Hi Charlie congrats!
I noticed on Bump & Baby they are offering online classes.
I haven’t looked into anything properly yet. It’s weird in a way being pregnant is all consuming but at the same time there is so much going on sometimes I barely even think of it. I am going in such peaks and troughs of feeling optimistic and ok we will all get through this to seriously panicked and at a loss.
My estimated due date is 10 October , have my NHS scan on 1 April and then got a letter from the hospital this morning with a date 22 May for the second scan.
Thank goodness it’s the weekend. I need some serious R&R and hoping we get some spring sunshine I think that would lift moods too.
Take care all!

SkyBlue20 · 20/03/2020 21:36

@BntTowers I’ll post the links in the morning when I’m on my laptop - I’m still discovering new ones but there are two I really like so far (and one that was terrible - it was a ‘20min’ session but it was actually 8mins of yoga and 12mins of lying down 🤦🏻‍♀️)
Hope your mum and stepdad listen - it’s so hard to get through to them! My dad is classed as vulnerable but works in hospitality so hasn’t stopped and is constantly around people. Now they’ve forced everywhere to close, he’ll have to, which is a relief for me!

@Spark27 So exciting that you’ve booked the gender scan!! Do you have any ‘feelings’ for what it might be or unsure? Sounds like DD was being very testing today, I really don’t know how you do it - such admiration!

@Zaalfruit How strange about your appointments! How long until your 12 week scan?

@Buzz22 thanks for the update, that’s really interesting! Would love to do some prenatal Pilates, do you have any recommendations for which one? Been told to do more Pilates by my physio and was just getting started before I found out about baby! Glad you’re feeling better. What takeaway did you get? We got Chinese, felt like the right night for a takeaway, a bit of a treat!

Welcome, @CharlieBalf! I think I’m unintentionally not looking too far in to the future as it’s all just so uncertain. Have my 12 week scan next week so focusing on that and then I guess I’ll probably focus on the 20week one and just get by that way!

@NWnature So organised of the NHS to already have your 20 week scan booked in! Your due date is a day after mine ☺️ though I was a week behind at my early scan which I think is about right so it’s likely to change next week at the 12 week one.

How’s everyone feeling in general? How are bumps coming along? I’m feeling fine other than getting sleepy quite early and my boobs are sore. No real bump but waist has definitely thickened.
Also, what’s everyone doing about bras at the moment? My current ones are starting to dig in but I’m not too sure what I should be buying at this stage?!

NWnature · 20/03/2020 22:37

@skyblue20 Ah exciting !

I feel MASSIVE because I am eating like a horse and doing no exercise. Still insanely tired but feeling less sick than the last few weeks though.

Really want to try and get a grip with food and exercise as want to keep healthy. I’ve ordered a scale just so I can try and keep an eye on weight and hope it motivates me to ease off the constant crisp consumption.

I’ve been wearing my usual ones in the day but got some good seamless ones for evening / night. They are really old from TK Maxx actually !

Has anyone got any tips for not putting on too much weight? Really worrying I am going to balloon!

Treacle81 · 21/03/2020 06:53

Morning girls! It’s so exciting to think our 12 wk scan is soon!! Unfortunately looks like I am the only one who can go (friend had hers this wk and had a call to so). Just glad we got a private one now! I’m still nauseous and suffering with heartburn- both worse at night. Breasts still tender and I also have a definite thickening of my waist. Yea the weight gain is a worry and I already see a difference with a month without spin! Was hoping I would pick up in my 2nd trimester if the morning sickness left. Unfortunately not going to be the case, cant go swimming either! 12 weeks 2m 💃🎉xx

CharlieBalf · 21/03/2020 07:07

@treacle81 congratulations! I'm also 12 weeks tomorrow 😁
No word from my hospital yet as to solo trips only but we live in a very low.populated county.
@SkyBlue20 thanks for the welcome! I suppose just 'getting on with it' the best we can is the order of the, like the Blitz!
@NWnature I'm also worked. Has planned on swimming after we had the OK on the 12 week scan but obvs can't happen now. I'm going to try some YouTube videos for pregnant workouts, many don't use any gym equipment which is good cause i need to save every penny for baby stuff. We have nothing so far 😬

SkyBlue20 · 21/03/2020 09:07

@NWnature I was having the same panic as, especially when nauseous, I was eating constantly. Read a lot that said it passes after the first trimester so currently hoping that’s the case and trying to limit the carbs, cheese and chocolate in the meantime - that’s all I really want and I’m definitely eating more than usual but am just trying to make sure I get loads of veg in too. Now I’m WFH I’m also trying to do yoga/some sort of exercise every morning and a walk at lunchtime (though I think today is my day off, I’m exhausted!)

@Treacle81 Shame you’ll be alone at your scan but very glad you had the private one ☺️

Anybody else been waking up super early right the way through pregnancy so far? I’m very much not a morning person but every single day without fail I’ve been waking up at 6:30am on the dot, regardless of what time I go to sleep 🤨

otterbaby · 21/03/2020 09:11

@SkyBlue20 same, it's doing my head in 🥴 Up at 7am every day! Finally forced myself to sleep until 8am today which I was pleased about haha.

Treacle81 · 21/03/2020 09:27

Yeah, no matter what time I go to bed I’m up at 6 on the dot! I am noticing I’m staying up later, well latest being 11pm but also napping during the day which isn’t usual. I am sore all over after that workout yest! 💪🏼xx

Spark27 · 21/03/2020 10:16

@SkyBlue20, cant really comment on the early mornings as DD controls those. But shes not allowed to call is until her 'sunshine clock' lights up at 0700. I find myself waking about 0300 to go for a wee and then cant get back to sleep until about 0500. Usually a mixture of feeling awake, and DH snoring Angry

I'm 13w today (but I think 12w 5) and I definitely feel less sick then I have done. I now only really feel sick if I'm very hungry or full up. So hopefully it will get better. The irony of now being in the 'better' trimester and not being able to go out and do things!

Telling family today. A bit excited, bit even though I've wanted to share it for weeks part of me now wants to keep it as our secret. Haha xx

LexiM · 21/03/2020 10:27

@spark37 Enjoy telling your family, it’s lovely when you see how excited people are at having a baby in the family!

@SkyBlue20 yep I’m awake 5:30-6 most days and have some water then feel sick. I always fall back asleep just as I need to get up! Then today on the weekend I fall back asleep and wake up same time I would on a week day, typical!

@Treacle81 I am so sorry you can’t take someone for your scan.

I just got my letter through finally! Mine is 9am on 31st March, glad it’s early so i don’t have to wait around all day! I’m getting nervous about the full bladder part already 😂 I’m like how much water is that and worrying I will need to pee! It doesn’t say anything about taking someone in with you and early this week our trust put a statement on Facebook saying one for scans/labour etc. So hopefully it will stay that way and my husband can come.

@NWnature at first I was eating lots of snacks to stop myself feeling sick but that curved off and now generally having 3 small meals so I’m glad as I was worried. My stomach is definitely feeling more padded though, and I can’t really call it a bump 😄😄

LostinAusten2 · 21/03/2020 10:27

@Spark27 - that’s so exciting - good luck telling the family! Cannot wait for my 12/13 week scan so I can tell everyone afterwards, and patience isn’t one of my strong suits 🤐

rainbow178 · 21/03/2020 13:24

Hi all, just checking in! My nausea is still tormenting me, coupled with heart burn after tea. Literally from 6pm I am watching the clock, desperate to go to bed!! Managing it ok though, it's defo good to not have to worry about work as well.

I have an appointment with a consultant on Thursday about my thyroid and my first face to face (at the moment!) midwife appointment Friday. I will be 10 + 2 on Friday- when do you think I should heat r about my first scan?? Really want to get a date in to give me something to worm towards!!

I am also starting to stress about all the things I might not be able to buy for baby later down the line, this is our first baby so have NOTHING!! It will be sleeping in a drawer at this rate!!

LexiM · 21/03/2020 17:45

@rainbow178 sorry you are feeling so rubbish. I’m having one of those days too today - just feeling so nauseous and not myself.

I had my midwife appointment at 9+6 then got my scan letter today which was 8 days later. The scan date is at estimated 12+3 so not late at all. I presumed because I had been waiting longer than everyone else it was going to be really late. I hope your appointment with the consultant goes well too.

I know what you mean about getting stuff, hopefully things will have changed later on so we can all go out and look at things! That being said part of me is glad I can’t right now so I can save some money haha! We don’t have a single thing either for our baby yet. I do feel for people who are further on than us and don’t have everything.

rainbow178 · 21/03/2020 18:14

@LexiM thanks for the reassurance. That's what my DH said, we have 6 months, a lot can change by then. I suppose if it comes to it, we can borrow from friends, not quite the same but will be ok!

Thanks for the advise about dates and appointments, that's the only thing I have on this week (shockingly enough!!) so my 2 appointments are keeping me going!

Currently cooking a pizza.....my favourite food usually.....feel like I want to hurl!

SkyBlue20 · 21/03/2020 19:01

I am SO tired today, have just had an hour and a half nap and feel like I could straight back to sleep until tomorrow morning. I’ve hardly managed to do anything all day and just feel a bit not myself - I can’t put my finger on what it is but I just feel low, like a could cry any minute, and absolutely dead on my feet. Might get dinner and a bath and hopefully feel better in the morning. Husband is saying baby must be doing some good growing, so getting myself through with that thought.

Spark27 · 21/03/2020 19:15

Told family, seems they'd all pretty much guessed anyway Grin But they are all thrilled. Good to have it out in the open, but it feels like a bit of any anti climax as I cant see anyone to celebrate.

I'm feeling similar @SkyBlue20, been feeling ok generally lately, but this afternoon I feel really off. Good a headache, feel a bit sick, but not. Feel pretty grumpy with DH. Been cold all afternoon, but now hot. Just feel off. Could go to sleep now, bit worried I'll then be awake all night and be hungry later.

Treaclepie19 · 21/03/2020 19:23

I'm feeling the same, so nauseous and I had a 2 hour nap today. Feel absolutely rubbish 😩
12 weeks tomorrow. I think this is the most sick I've felt.

SkyBlue20 · 21/03/2020 19:37

I’m so sorry to hear everyone is feeling pretty crappy! I just had a little cry on my husband (couldn’t tell you why I was crying, hormones I guess!) and he’s set me up with ice cream, crappy tv and lit candles and am feeling a bit better for it. Trying to focus on tomorrow being a new day and hopefully I’ll feel better then.

@Spark27 Ahh how lovely that you got to tell the family! How had they already guessed, what were the clues? How did you tell them, call?

Treacle81 · 21/03/2020 20:08

Yip shit station here too! Had a 3 he nap earlier and still tired! Feel awful so just going back to bed. Let’s home this is the end of it tho as 2nd trimester round the corner! xx

OP posts:
CharlieBalf · 21/03/2020 20:50

I've been over tired from about 5 weeks- sometimes two naps a day! Have had queesiness all the way till a few days ago but just cleared up. Hopefully it's the end of it but I'm also slightly panicked that all of my symptoms have just gone. Apart from veiny boobs... Wow, those things are weird.

rainbow178 · 21/03/2020 22:08

I've been knackered today too- had a nap and after I woke up, just didn't move for about half an hour, finally heading to bed now!! But like others have said, keep waking up in the night needing a wee and then feeling wide awake and can't get back to sleep!! And then the nausea sets in......I'm really hoping the nausea goes away after week 12 like people seem to say.....I'm seriously starting to count down. Feel sick ALL the time, it sucks 😰

Spark27 · 22/03/2020 07:12

@SkyBlue20, we had my parents round yesterday for a mothers day tea thing. I know I shouldn't, but we'd hadn't planned for weeks and I really wanted to tell them that way. They dont work, and are trying to keep fairly isolated. And my DD temperature checked them at the door Grin My mum has offered to have DD for a few hours on tuesday and take her to hers. Not sure how I feel about that. I know I should say no, but the thought of 12 weeks straight of isolation is scary. But everyone else we called and messaged.

How are you guys with a toddler planning on managing it? Are you going for completely lockdown for 12 weeks? My DH still has to go into his office every other week so I feel like we could become exposed that way anyway. xx
