Been pretty quite girls due to relentless nausea 24/7 and heartburn. Really getting me down just now. A girl that sits at the next bank of desks from me is currently being tested for CV!!! She had just returned from Italy (as had two other colleagues) she was sent home as showing symptoms however they weren’t! It’s just really concerning! Also a case near me of a 6 math pregnant woman having it so I’ll keep you posted on that. I’m personally going to see about getting a fit note for a week due to nausea and all this going on in top of it! xx

That’s a really unfair situation - work is meant to prevent and contain the current epidemic. In our office we have been advised no more face to face meetings only at Skype and avoid large areas and even holidays areas have to be disclosed this is to minimise risk . No hand shaking either - hand sanitisers have been given to every desk and daily emails of catch it , kill it , bin it .

Zaalfruit · 12/03/2020 07:50

@Treacle81 get your sick note and wait it out. Saw this on my surgery .

@MrsD1990 I know you feel, I told work yesterday. Only a small office of 6 employees, but my boss is closer to 100 than 90 (he won’t retire). I’m high risk pregnancy, and have low immunity issues, always have a sniffle! My consultant said to just avoid as much as possible public places, and people I know who have travelled, until further guindeance is given my the GOV. Is there just one HR colleague you could tell at this stage?

@Daisythesnail I’m so sorry! I hope your ok.

SkyBlue20 · 12/03/2020 08:26

Sending love, @Daisythesnail, I hope this next stage is as easy as it can be and you can start to heal as best you can xx

@BntTowers I would definitely tell work if you feel it’s going to help, especially an immediate manager. Anything for an easier life at this stage!

@LostinAusten2 Hope Liverpool’s result didn’t make you feel worse! 😬 (Man City fan here, sorry!)

@MrsD1990 Personally think that’s terrible from your work - they should be protecting all staff! I’d tell them if I were in your position but completely understand you may not want to, in which case, as @LexiM said, they’ll understand why you didn’t want to go when you do tell them.

All of my symptoms have disappeared today except for slight nausea (which I anticipate will go after I’ve had breakfast). Telling myself it’s normal and to enjoy it as they’ll likely be back soon but it’s hard not to worry just a little bit! 😬

Treacle81 · 12/03/2020 08:51

@Daisythesnail just seen this, I am very sorry for your loss ❤️

@MrsD1990 That is so reckless, if the bloody NBA is cancelled due to one case then you shouldn't be pressured to be going - nor other colleagues going. They might not know your pregnant, but anyone could easily pick it up and pass it on to an older person or someone with immune problems where it could do serious damage. Hope you're okay and not too stressed.

@SkyBlue20 It's so hard, not wanting symptoms but I guess they are comforting too. How many weeks are you now, maybe getting closer to less hormone in your system?

@Zaalfruit How are you feeling?

I was meant to have more bloods today for my liver function but feeling sicky, tired and I just don't want to leave the house. Plus, I've got lots of work to do and last time I had bloods I spent the evening in the toilet puking. Changed them to Monday instead.

Ive also started to worry about breastfeeding as my dream last night was about people being tortured with breast milk. Think I'm starting to go loopy haha.

SkyBlue20 · 12/03/2020 10:42

@Quiffy I’m officially 9+6 but measured a week behind in my early scan (which I think is likely correct as pretty sure of my ov date) so could be 8+6. Really hope it’s more like 9+6 as would kill me to go back a week! More than anything it’s the fact that my nipples have gone back to normal that’s worrying me - they’ve been my one constant since before I even knew!

Sounds wise to postpone the bloods if you’re not feeling up to it. Oh god, the vivid dreams are something else, aren’t they?!

Booked my flu jab for tomorrow, didn’t realise Boots are still doing them! Ummed and ahhed but figured what’s the harm and read it protects baby for a few months after (s)he is born so felt wise.

Quiffy · 12/03/2020 10:54

@skyblue20 hopefully they will have grown and caught up to that. Going back a week is torture when this feels like the longest time ever! That's really interesting on the flu jab, I had no idea you could do that. Tempted to book one in now!

SkyBlue20 · 12/03/2020 14:04

@Quiffy they accept your NHS exemption certificate too so not even a charge for it ☺️

MrsD1990 · 12/03/2020 14:38

Thanks for all the support everyone!! I was so annoyed at the position they put me in I barely slept last night. But I led the meeting remotely this morning and it worked well. My husband made the good point that there's no point me not going to the infected building, just to go in the office and work closely with the people who went and might be infected, so I decided to work from home for two weeks starting today to give them enough time to show symptoms if they have it (hopefully they don't).

As luck would have it, we just got a message from our CEO saying starting tomorrow all offices should work from home - which matches with my plans already (I was worried about my work reputation but was willing to take the hit). FINALLY feels like they're taking this seriously and trying to look after us. Definitely didn't feel like that before.

Glitterbug86 · 12/03/2020 14:45

Great result @MrsD1990 and well done standing your ground

Quiffy · 12/03/2020 15:16

@MrsD1990 that's really good!

Do you guys think our 12 week scans might get canceled? I'm procrastinating from work and seen a few people say that outpatient appointments are likely to be cancelled, and my scan is listed as an outpatient appointment on my letter.

Treaclepie19 · 12/03/2020 15:23

@Quiffy I've been thinking and worrying about this but I'm not sure they can be?
If someone had a MMC and it wasnt found it could get nasty. I think they'll have to do them.
Mine isn't until 1st april 😩

Quiffy · 12/03/2020 15:28

@treaclepie19 I was thinking this too, and I know I'm supposed to meet the consultant and get other meds for preeclampsia. Mine is the 31st March so around the same time. Will certainly be interesting to see what happens over the next few days.

Treaclepie19 · 12/03/2020 15:32

@Quiffy it will. I'm desperate to have mine because theres a lot riding on our nuchal measurement and I'm so scared we wont get it.
Just telling myself to try and keep calm 😒😬

Spark27 · 12/03/2020 17:52

@Quiffy, I had a really odd dream last night. Dreamt I had a gorilla (which I'd raised for birth, obvs) and when it got older it went on a rampage and tried to kill me (not sure what that says about my parenting skills). Last thing before my alarm went off I was in a car, with the gorilla chasing me in his car (obvs), trying to get him away from the general public. WTF!

I'm wondering about the scan too. But I dont think they can cancel as they are so important. People need to know dates and do screening tests. Fortunately mine is next thursday so I'm hoping it will be ok.

Starting to get really nervous about the scan. So worried there might be something wrong. No specific reason for me to worry, but I just cant help it. Even looked into private scans near me this weekend, but theres none available. Just want to know everything looks to be ok. I cant stop thinking about it

BntTowers · 12/03/2020 18:23

@SkyBlue20 I ended up telling them today. We've been getting emails constantly about Corona and by lunch time certain people were told to work from home, no external meetings, no external people coming into the office.
In the end they were greatful I told them so early on (not quite 9 weeks yet) so my line manager knows and one of the MDs knows. I'll let HR know tomorrow and I'm number 1 priority to get the next laptop that becomes available or might even have IT come and bring a pc to my house to allow me to work from home. I've also been told that even after this two week office closure which seems to be coming but not yet confirmed if I want to work from home I can. They have actually been really accomodating, more so than I was expecting.

Indigogirl88 · 12/03/2020 18:25

I'm worried about the scan as well girls, I havent even spoke to a midwife yet other than my booking appointment!

At my office they've given us laptops but said they wont let us work from home yet...

I havent told my employer yet so cant say much.

I have read that they said it cant be passed to baby but I'm worried that due to low immune system whilst pregnant and having asthma I might be more likely to get it

SkyBlue20 · 12/03/2020 19:13

@MrsD1990 I’m so glad it all worked out for you and that the presentation went well ☺️

@Quiffy I don’t think they will get cancelled - they’re too important and I also read something saying that most maternity services should stay the same as the maternity staff don’t have the right skillset to move across to helping with Coronavirus so they shouldn’t be affected. I guess at most they may move the scans to other places like children’s centres or gp surgeries or something if they don’t want us at the hospital? Don’t know how feasible that would be though!

@Spark27 what a bizarre dream 😂 When is your scan, how long to wait? I’m sure all will be absolutely fine but know what you mean about the worry - it’s the lack of knowing and lack of control, isn’t it?!

@BntTowers That’s great, glad they’re being so good about it! Sounds like more and more businesses are taking more and more precautions now, thankfully.

@indigogirl88 that’s my worry too - the low immune system leaving us susceptible to it but just trying to wash my hands as much as possible. Never realised how much I touch my face until this though!

I’ve just come out of the gym (which, as a side note, was SO empty - think Coronavirus fear is getting to people) and I ran for the first time since I found out I’m pregnant! 😁 Took it really easy and just jogged for 2mins, walked for 3mins three times over but it felt SO good to be back at it! I also weighed myself and seem to have lost the 4lb I’d put on - I was SUPER bloated and heavy feeling when I weighed myself last and haven’t needed to snack as much recently so could be that. I feel great after having been to the gym but now obviously I’m also worried about how ok I feel and the weight I’ve lost, coupled with the lack of symptoms 😬 Am trying to not let my head go there, telling myself to think of something else whenever I start to stress but it’s SO HARD. My scan is two weeks today, so can only hope I start to feel crap again soon or it’s going to be a long two weeks 🙈

Quiffy · 12/03/2020 19:38

@Treaclepie19 aw no you will be worried, Im sure they will go ahead unless it gets really bad. Hopefully they can start containing it over the next month.

@Spark27 that sounds TERRIFYING omg! I feel the 12 week nerves starting now, think it's totally understandable and in all likelihood everything should be absolutely fine

Spark27 · 12/03/2020 20:22

I know. I think my hubby is now intrigued every morning to see what dream I'll have to try and explain to him.
My scan is next thursday am, so not too long to go. Beginning to wish I'd had an early scan, but then anything could still happen, and I dont know when we would have fit it in time wise. Also, once my DD knows that's it. EVERYONE will know.

I'm office based, but cant really work from home due to the systems we use. I have tried to send myself links for external courses, reading, etc, in case things get worse or if my DD gets sent home. One big concern is surviving 14 days stuck in a house with a toddler Shock and without alcohol

LostinAusten2 · 12/03/2020 20:37

Hey folks, so (1) really agree with the scan chat - I’m sure they’ll keep maternity services going, (2) wow for the weird dreams - haven’t had them yet but haven’t been sleeping so well - which definitely helps explain (3) cracker of a day: cried at my boss’s boss at work this morning, out of the blue... she knows I’m pregnant so was terribly sweet about it, but not sure I’ll ever get over the embarrassment! And celebrated by staying too late in the office without food and taking the bus home so was sick, in the street, outside my flat. Lord love a duck, these are interesting times!

Indigogirl88 · 12/03/2020 20:47

@SkyBlue20 snap for the scan date!

I really want to do running again but I feel so pants, I may try at the weekend and not put myself under pressure

SkyBlue20 · 12/03/2020 20:56

Ohhh @LostinAusten2 what a day! 🙈Hope this evening’s been a bit better!

@indigogirl88 I’ve really missed running but was too scared to do it despite literally everyone saying it’s safe to do if you were running pre-pregnancy but today I just had an urge so went for it. I think everything in your own time - I definitely won’t be doing long or speedy runs as too nervy but a bit here and there will suit me just fine I think. Find what you’re happy with - my midwife just said when baby is telling you to stop, stop. Yay to being scan buddies! Is yours morning or afternoon? Ours is 11am which is quite nice actually as don’t have to be up too early or battle the rush hour traffic!

@Spark27 Quarantine with a toddler and no wine does not sound fun - crossing my fingers for you that it doesn’t come to that!!

I’ve gone from feeling on top of the world to having the worst wind and heartburn after eating, it’s so painful! 😫
