My favourite midwife is on call, so if baby could just pick tonight to be the night that would be great Grin

Anybody else in the later stages of pregnancy and ready to give birth now?!

39 weeks here and i too would love to go into labour tonight. The birthing ball doesn't seem to be doing anything despite me using it for an hour a day and RL tea is grim

mrscatmad31 · 21/01/2020 19:02

39+6 here and I thought I was going into labour last night, midwife today said baby is very low now so expected any time now, if I could go into labour tomorrow morning that would be good or even better Thursday when DD1 is at pre school!

shutupsteph · 21/01/2020 19:06

got a sweep booked for 11am that i'd rather avoid so here's hoping i go into labour tonight 🤞🏻

Drabarni · 21/01/2020 19:11

Not pregnant, far too old, but what helped me on each occasion.

Ds1 Half a lager. Ds2 Half a lager and a curry, Dd, Pirates of The Caribbean film.

Is it your first OP?

cailinvelo · 21/01/2020 19:15

Me toooooooo!! 39+4 here. I'd quite happily have baby tonight if that can be arranged. My DD was ten entire days late and I was demented!

emma8t4 · 21/01/2020 19:16

40+6 here, second baby 2 sweeps already....very favourable 3cm but no labour. Another midwife appointment tomorrow. Fingers crossed for me to go before my induction which is booked for Monday.

Engard · 21/01/2020 19:24

Crikey yes please! I'm 39 weeks and have been feeling on and off all day like it might happen:

Had a bit trickle earlier that I can't decide if it was wee or waters
Spot of blood when I went loo
Back ache
Strong contractions that convinced me it was the start but have since stopped
Persistent menstrual type cramps

I'm desperate for this to be it. I'm so impatient.

Kitten22 · 21/01/2020 19:35

Me too ladies, I'm 40+1 today and still hoping something happens. Really dont want the induction as it's a lot worse that natural in my opinion. Tried whole fresh pineapple, chili, RL tea, bouncing on ball. I guess it just isnt ready yet.

Brianna83 · 21/01/2020 19:45

I feel bad for moaning now, I'm only 38+4 but am ready now!

FrederickSinclair · 21/01/2020 20:03

Oh lots of us in the same boat! Last baby came bang on his due date but I had signs for a few days before so it wasn't a surprise. Midwife came last week and said this baby is engaged and I've felt pretty awful for most of the week. Have a feeling of pressure very low down but that is it! DH is Keen for it to happen tonight too, although did just say 'we are quite tired today, should we try and have an early night?' - we'll be up at 5am and no labour to show for it I expect Grin

Have sex! Worked for me. Although I was 41+3 and desperate Grin

VDM1420 · 21/01/2020 20:07

I'm 38+2, just want him out now. Midwife tomorrow but still no signs of baby coming. I lost my plug initially 2 months ago due to stress trauma so dont even know if that's a sign to wait for anymore. Everyone keeps saying I'm very low and should pop him anytime but it doesnt feel like it. I'm bored of having nothing to do and just want him here so that I can start nurturing

QueefLatifah · 21/01/2020 20:10

Doggy style
Sorry

But it works

Last thing you want in the world but I was contracting within the hour (40+2) and couldnt believe it

Elliesmommy · 21/01/2020 20:14

Doggy style. And plenty of it.

NameChange30 · 21/01/2020 20:22

Yep mine was doggy style too Blush
(To be fair is there any other style you can do at 40+ weeks pregnant?!)

FrederickSinclair · 21/01/2020 20:29

I'm impressed by all those having any kind of intimacy at this stage! I can't think of anything I'd rather do less...

QueefLatifah · 21/01/2020 20:31

But Frederick, it was on a needs must basis. Beats an induction Grin

NameChange30 · 21/01/2020 20:32

Exactly!

Engard · 21/01/2020 20:40

Guess what I'll be doing tonight??

TillyTheTiger · 21/01/2020 20:45

Stick some spa music and candles on and get DH to give you a nice foot massage, the more relaxed you are the more likely you are to go into labour. Worked for me!

LucaFritz · 21/01/2020 23:03

Im gay and single so no sex here 😂 i wouldn't say no to a nice pint though...
And i couldn't be more well rested and relaxed if i tried Hmm im off back on the birthing ball for another hour. Wish me luck!

Drabarni · 21/01/2020 23:28

Luca

The lager worked for me. I wasn't a drinker and hadn't through pregnancy at all.
I thought I'd better come back and say that. I was of the opinion one wouldn't hurt.
Good luck to you all, fingers crossed for you.

LucaFritz · 21/01/2020 23:34

I might have to get a bottle tomorrow then Grin a hot bath and an ice cold lager would be heaven

FrederickSinclair · 22/01/2020 08:02

The lager sounds much more appealing, I might try it this evening Grin no baby here!

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 22/01/2020 08:27

There is no evidence whatsoever that drinking lager helps to induce labour!

The only method with any evidence behind it is having sex, makes sense because it releases some of the hormones that are needed in labour.
