My favourite midwife is on call, so if baby could just pick tonight to be the night that would be great Grin

Anybody else in the later stages of pregnancy and ready to give birth now?!

My midwife has booked me in for a sweep when I'll be 40+5 but she doesn't think I'll go that late. She is on call again tomorrow so tomorrow would be great!!

How have you guys managed to get booked in for your 40th week. The midwife I saw last week wont do it :/ she is very concerned about my mental history but not so bothered that I'm mentally crumbling now waiting for this little being!

Sheep90 · 28/01/2020 12:32

I have a sweep booked for 39+1. I'm trying to give myself a chance to avoid induction at 41 weeks! Hopefully I'll be ready for it and will show signs by body is ready to push a baby out. I've developed stretch marks in the past two days, barely anything before. I now look like a topographical relief map Blush

OccasionalNachos · 28/01/2020 12:48

I am possibly going to have a sweep tomorrow. I am very frustrated and uncomfortable now so really want to, but I keep reading things & other people’s experiences and changing my mind!

SidSparrow · 28/01/2020 12:54

I'm 41+1 booked in for a sweep on Friday and getting booked in for an induction for next week as a back up. I'm kinda going a bit bonkers but now I feel like there is actually an end in sight! I

Good luck everyone! Interested to hear how quickly the sweeps worked, if they did work...

Engard · 28/01/2020 12:59

I've got my sweep on Thursday I'll be 40+1. Nervous because it's not my usual midwife who booked it in and as it's my second I wouldn't usually get one till 41 weeks.
I hope she does it 🥺
I've had sickness throughout and have been vomiting blood again so I'm gonna argue tooth and nail for that sweep!

S082018 · 28/01/2020 13:21

Looking forward to hearing about everyone's experiences of having a sweep soon! I'm a first time mum so I am none the wiser.

My sweep is booked for two days before my birthday so I do wonder if I will be sharing my birthday with my baby 😆 there may be a chance!

shutupsteph · 28/01/2020 13:28

I had a sweep on my due date, it was a bit 'spiky' but that was because there wasn't much room to play with in my cervix. i had four more before giving birth at 41 weeks and they were all absolutely fine and painless!

ballsdeep · 28/01/2020 13:40

I've had sweeps in my last 2 pregnancies. This one she admitted she was rough and brutal 😂😂 it hurt but it's. Only for a few. Seconds xz

VDM1420 · 28/01/2020 13:51

Do you have to have sweeps before induction or can you just be induced?

ballsdeep · 28/01/2020 13:58

I think it is standard to give a sweep before induction bevause they do it as part of an internal examination

VDM1420 · 28/01/2020 14:08

I'm starting to feel very deflated as I have mentioned it to the midwife and she dismissed me saying that babies can go until 40+12. Which I'm quite aware of, I just know I'm not going to cope past 40 weeks never mind 40+12 :/ when I have discussed my concerns she wasnt really bothered or understanding :/

LucaFritz · 28/01/2020 14:13

I ended up with an induction but no sweep as my waters hsd already partially gone at that point

BlakeLifelesss · 28/01/2020 14:44

frederick fingers crossed for tomorrow then so you get your nice midwife!

Ive just had a walk around the grounds and the shop. No contractions or pain but my right bum cheek has got a really awful cramp, kind of like a trapped nerve feeling. Don't think it's anything to do with labour though!

VDM1420 · 28/01/2020 23:09

Cant work out if I'm being kicked or contractions 🤣🤣 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

FrederickSinclair · 29/01/2020 00:46

I think I've just woken to some contractions!

Joining in late but I'm so over the waiting! 41 weeks today and no sign of him other than some occasion back pain. I'm so bored, I've been off work for 5 weeks now!

yellowlamp1 · 29/01/2020 04:38

@Anoushka1986 Are you the same as me, stopped work at Christmas? I felt I had to cos of my commute, there's no way I would have coped, but the boredom and lethargy are hard to cope with, especially with the grey weather! I know we should be cherishing and enjoying these all days to ourselves, but it's tough when you feel so rough, isn't it!

BlakeLifelesss · 29/01/2020 05:55

Good luck fredrick! I ended up having very quick labour dh almost didn't make it and midwife didn't even have time to put her gloves on to deliver him!
Anyone worrying about induction, it was the easiest of all my 4 births by far :)

YicketyYackMamasBack · 29/01/2020 06:11

Shamelessly place marking for babies arrival. I love birth announcements!

FrederickSinclair · 29/01/2020 06:27

Had baby at 4am Smile very quick and easy home birth!
