BellaBear · 20/08/2007 14:45

hi all, just had 16 week appt and heard the heartbeat really clearly! Really happy.

firststar - 10 weeks! Blimey. Midwife said she could feel mine when I was lying flat but not if I raised my head. Might have a few weeks to go. Off to Melbourne on holiday on Weds (DH on business trip so am tagging along) - perfect timing for some maternity clothes shopping I think!

becklespeckle · 20/08/2007 14:45

Hi Firsty! How are you and LO? All seems well here thanks, ticking along boringly which is just how I like it!
Mumpbump, ah the joys of Bluewater... I always get a babysitter for the day if I am heading there or Lakeside (usually only once a year though), is too stressful with the kids! Had my scan nearly 2 weeks ago, all looked fine which was a big relief! Looking like it might be a girl too although the legs were crossed so not definite - DH is very pleased, possibly is good enough for him!
My1stBaby, bless your DH, what a lovely thing to say! Scans are always nervy. Fingers crossed all will be just fine!

MrsMcJnr · 20/08/2007 14:45

Wow! so much to catch up on!

Ejb ? sorry to hear you had that nosebleed on Friday I?ve never had one! Guess my blood is too thick!

Firsty ? thanks for your good wishes for our plans

MOM ? hope you are feeling better sorry to hear you got told off for expressing your worries, I don?t think that?s on but think Feedmenow is right, those who have never been through a MC will never understand how it makes you feel x Sorry to hear about the ED ? that must be a horrible thing.

Jules I am still reeling from your news, I am so very sorry hon It is just not fair, you have already been through so much. I really hope there are some investigations and some answers soon xx

Angua great news hon, what a relief! Sorry to hear you are constipated, I have been the opposite for most of my pg to date so haven?t got any tips. Sorry to hear the MS has kicked in, I was 9 weeks too and thought I?d got away with it! It eased at 14 weeks for me and now I just have the odd day.

Daisy hello you! Lovely news for your SIL many congratulations!!

Hello Feedmenow sorry to hear about your scare has the bleeding stopped now? I had a small bleed this pregnancy the night of my 8 week scan, they weren?t prepared to do anything so I convinced myself it was because it was the date my AF would have been due and somehow made it to my 13 week scan. It is awful for Jules we were waiting in limbo together back in Feb/March when we lost our babies and I can?t bear it that she is having to go through it all again

Hello Uki ? so sorry to hear about the worries with Levi I hope he doesn?t need an operation. Didn?t get any pics

Spugs lovely to have you back, did you have a good time? sorry to hear that about your AN thread it seems to happen like that, loads of us had to leave the October thread but on the New Year thread, there have only been a couple which was very sad of course

Hey EllieG the expansion sounds like it is probably due to your bowel rather than your pie eating hon apparently the hormones can have quite an effect and as your stomach acid dilutes, things are harder to digest. In the first 9 weeks of this pregnancy, my face was really bloated but now I am thinner than I was when I started everywhere but my tummy, I guess it equals out I?ve put on a pound now but am still 6 less than I was when I got my BFP (though I has still carrying the extra 7 pounds then that I put on around the MC) pains could be constipation hon.

I?m like all of you, I have only bought necessary things for me. No baby things apart from a baby book as it needed to start getting filled in before I forgot things ? I only got that a week ago and hope that?s not tempting fate. We were then given a pressie yesterday, first one and it was a baby book! Keep it for the next one I guess!

Hey Rubles

Lovely to hear from you Pinkranger hope all is well!

Bellabear ? don?t be put off the AN threads, they are fun, full of excited chat about flavours and movements and equipment and we all need the fun positive side of things but I do agree with the others, whilst my AN thread is fab, no meanies, I?d rather talk to you all when I get woes then them because you all understand and also because I don?t want to worry them or bring them down ? I?d do anything to be blissfully unaware of MC again. Got a mini bump around 15 weeks

VV ? glad the bump?s arrived!

Ejt ? glad you had a good time I?m exhausted too, let?s chill together!

Hey Mumpbump

My1stbaby glad all is going well, it really does rock you when you hear of something like that happening to someone else hope all goes well tomorrow it is awful for Jules. The fact that her MCs have been at different stages hopefully means that she has just been very unlucky and that there are no genetic demons x

Hey Beckle I know, I am just impatient to feel things I?ve bought that book, how to have a baby on ebay and plan to get researching after our 21 week scan if all goes well!

becklespeckle · 20/08/2007 14:47

Glad you heard that HB Bella! It is one of the loveliest sounds in the world.

BellaBear · 20/08/2007 14:49

MrsMcJnr - I love the fact that I get to be on a thread with you again after the conception ones, I love your mammoth posts! (And everyone else's as well)

BellaBear · 20/08/2007 14:49

isn't it just becklespeckle? Am finally calming down a bit.

becklespeckle · 20/08/2007 14:52

More x-posting! Hi MrsMc! I saw that book advertised! You will have to let us know how you get on with it. I find ebay fab, you can get some great stuff on there, especially stuff that has been discontinued etc (great for me as the clips for my pushchair had been changed so I couldn't buy a carrycot for it anymore but didn't want a new one!). Is also very good for baby clothes, there are often a lot of brand new things on there too for a snip of the original price!

becklespeckle · 20/08/2007 14:53

Just had to share this - my DS2 (4.5) is dancing and spinning and singing along to the Scissor Sisters in the kitchen at the moment - very cute!

VictorVictoria · 20/08/2007 14:57

This is SUCH a lifeline to all those of us who are panicking because of past experiences. I spoke to a girlfriend of mine today who has had 3 children, allc onceived first time of trying, no miscarriages, no bleeding. she was astounded that I was still REALLY worried at 16+3.

But I am. appouintment with consultant tomorrow and terrified that she on't be able to find a heartbeat

Jules am so so sorry.

Mumpbump · 20/08/2007 15:14

Hey firststar! X-posted with you and then had to some work so missed it! How is Ty settling in? Have you bathed him yet? I remember waiting for about 2 weeks 'cos I was petrified of doing it and then making dh do it as the "old hand"!

Hi to MrsMcJnr - missed your epic post too... Don't know how you do it!!

VV - I think I've probably mentioned this before, but I didn't start to relax until after our 22 week scan and still have mini panics when bubba is having a quiet spell... Good luck for tomorrow!

MrsMcJnr · 20/08/2007 15:31

Thanks BellaBear ? that was sweet of you! glad you are calming into things, it?s a lovely feeling isn?t it?!

Beckle ? I?ll post some top tips from the book Kids are so funny aren?t they? I was at a party on Fri night and lots of our friends kids were there ? one couple have two scrumptious little boys of 4 and 5 ? soo cute, I just wanted to cuddle them!

VV ? I know hon, I worry at EVERY appointment I go to, not good for the blood pressure! Hope it all goes well tomorrow.

Thanks Mumpbump

VictorVictoria · 20/08/2007 15:34

Don't talk to me about blood pressure. I have marked "white coat blood pressure" as it is and DS was taken out early becasue of my rocketing blood pressure so all in all its not good all this stressing..............

Mollyfloss · 20/08/2007 15:44

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm in week 7. Had a missed miscarriage in May so am pretty scared this time. Had a scan last week and could see foetus so that's something. Still, last time I has scan at 8 and 1/2 weeks and everything was fine but when I went for scan at 12 weeks they said the foetus died at 9 weeks. Makes it very hard to enjoy being pregnant this time. Have all the same symptoms as last time, exhaustion, nausea etc. Trying to remain as hopeful as possible. I'm an optimist at heart!

I really find all your comments helpful thanks!

Feedmenow · 20/08/2007 15:57

Hi Molly, welcome to the thread! Are you planning any more scans before 12 weeks this time? Isn't it awful how quickly reassurance goes, knowing what we know.....

Mrsms, I take it the book is "How to have a baby" being sold on ebay as opposed to "How to have a baby on ebay"???

Although there was that bloke recently that tried to ebay the right to name his newborn!!!!

My dear dad, bless him has, I think, just offered to pay for me to see someone privately if I want a second opinion about yesterdays bleed. I said no cos if I start now I'll end up wanting a scan every week! But how lovely of him

Mollyfloss · 20/08/2007 16:16

Thanks for the welcome. The reason I had a scan last week was 'cos I had a bad cramp which turned out to be just constipation. Obviously I am a bit paranoid! I was abroad and went to see a local Doctor. Now that i'm back I'm booked in to see my obstetrician at 8 and 1/2 weeks. My guess if she'll do a quick scan to check everything is ok. I hope so anyway, because as you say reassurance is helpful :-)

Mumpbump · 20/08/2007 16:36

Congratulations, Molly, and welcome to the thread... Here is wishing you an uneventful pregnancy for the next 33 weeks or so!

Feedmenow · 20/08/2007 18:10

Alright, now I'm feeling really low. Not only am I still getting cramps, but I have also just made the mistake of looking up miscarriage stats (again!). I do it in the hope that something will make me feel better, but it just makes me feel worse, surprise, surprise!
Am now beginning to think that I won't be able to wait 3 weeks and that I will end up going for another private scan. Is that really ridiculous or what?

Mumpbump · 20/08/2007 18:17

It's not ridiculous. It's completely understandable and the reason why there are a few ladies on here who have invested in dopplers - so they can have daily reassurance. The only thing is, as you said earlier, it will reassure you for the moment, but you will start to worry again very quickly and if there is a risk it might be bad for the baby, do you want to have lots of scans?

It is really hard to get through this time - I think most of the "advanced" people on this thread have been through what you're going through - and you notice every twinge and worry that it's the worst. All you can do is take each day (or hour, if necessary) as it comes and tell yourself that everything will be okay... Is there anything you can do to distract yourself a bit?

Mumpbump · 20/08/2007 18:19

Feedmenow - I assume they picked up a heartbeat at your scan. If you're interested in stats, Uki posted an article ages ago which states that if a heartbeat is detected at 8 weeks, there is a 99.4% chance that you will have a successful pg. So that means that you have only a 0.6% chance of another m/c. I can find the article for you if you want to read it, but have to go home now so it will have to be tomorrow...

MerlinsBeard · 20/08/2007 19:15

Molly, welcome to the thread

TY for the support everyone. read through all that i had posted on there and did mention it quite a few times so can see why i got the comment i did.

My1st, i didn't realise that you should be on the thread too looks like there are quite a few of us. i wanted to join an AN thread because aside from the mc worries, i needed to tell someone i was pg and no one in RL knows yet!

feddmenow...no news on mw.scan yet. feels like every day is going slower than a ..erm.. slow thing! i saw her at 8 wks with ds1, can't remember with ds2 and 9 weeks with the mc so it should be in the next week or so. i am sure i said that a few weeks ago though. Am still holding out for the normal 12 week scan rather than an earlier one (unless i bleed of course)

EllieG · 20/08/2007 20:01

Blimey it's been busy today! Thanks all for reassuring me about cramps - they are fine now - think was just trapped wind (I am soooo lovely to live with at the moment )and have stopped fretting. It's just hard to relax, I feel like once you've had a MC you never get that 'Yey I'm pregnant!' innocent stage again, especially not in the early bits, and I just spend all my time examining symptoms. But I love it that you ladies are all feeling the same things, makes me feel much more reassured!
MOM - I am holding out for scan at 12 weeks to - doc said I could have an earlier one, but tbh, I don't think it would reassure me unless I was really worried something was wrong, as the baby died at 8 weeks last time anyway, so a scan before that wouldn't have helped when I got to 12. I can understand why you'd want them, especially if felt something wrong, and maybe when I'm a bit further on I might think about buying a dopler as I'd like to hear the little one if it gets that far....
Sorry you're worrying feedmenow - try and relax, (easier said than done I know) you've been checked out and are OK. You are not being ridiculous, it's entirely natural to be worrying, but it sounds like it's all OK at the moment x

EllieG · 20/08/2007 20:02

Oh and welcome Molly - congratulations on your news x

spugs · 20/08/2007 20:33

hiya molly welcome to the thread/site. it really is as great as everyone says and you get tonnes of support

feedmenow - i hope your ok hun, i had a bit of brown bleeding with my 1st pg (back in the days when i didnt think anything of it and didnt even think to ring docs!!) all was fine and im sure you will be too. if a private scan will put your mind at rest though id go for it, if id been able to find one round here i would have had one by now.

i too have suffered the terror of the constipation cramps ive got used to them now and in a way feel a bit more relaxed as i just put every thing down to it including how pot bellied im looking

mrsmc - i too am amazed at the length of your posts and how you remember everyones names and details. im rubbish at remembering things when not pg so at the min im a lost cause, couldnt remember the word for skirting board earlier today!

fettleandminifettle · 20/08/2007 20:54

Hi everyone! This thread really is very busy - which is good, but i'm afraid I just can't keep up with you all!

Uki - sorry to hear about your worries with little Levi - i do so hope that everything works out well.

Feedmenow - i'm amazed that they didn't scan you - 3 weeks will feel like a lifetime now, but it will pass by. I can't believe that the 4 weeks since my last consultant's appointment has passed already and I've my growth scan tomorrow. So try and hang in there and remain positive - you have had a positive scan recently, but can really understand your worries, as even a closed cervix isn't a definite sign either way. take care.xxx

Rubles - how you doing? Preparing for your move? Would say, don't do it?! But i dont' suppose you have much choice!! We're still really unsettled, but hopefully over the next few weeks, everything will find a home!

Ejt - glad you enjoyed your weekend - how did the electric wheelchair work out?

Glimmer - how you doing?

Hello everyone else! Have to go do the washing up now, as I can't tear DH away from the cricket (I must cancel our Skysports subscription!!).
xxx

fettleandminifettle · 20/08/2007 20:56

oh yes - had to say, constipation, trapped wind cramps - so utterly painful and worrying, but the relief when it finds a way out is fantastic!!

Ligament stretching is also pretty concerning, particularly in the first few weeks as it does feel just like period pains and cramps. It is perfectly normal though!
