Sorry, also meant to say welcome to the thread all you newbies!! So pleased to see more coming onto the thread. What is so great about this thread is that there are people at all stages of the pregnancy after mc, so we can help eachother in all sorts of ways!

As others have said, some days will be better than others, but just keep talking and if youhave noone in real life, we're always here for you. Any worry however small you might think, someone else will have had the same concern at some point to reassure you.

take care all

Well, I mentioned earlier that a friend had a baby girl at the weekend and I found out today that she nearly ended up giving birth in an ambulance too! Poor paramedics.....

EllieG · 24/09/2007 18:52

Why thank you flosspot, you look fabulous yourself
nh - am 10+5 today, and defo starting to notice the belly getting sticky-outy, though I think it may be mostly to do with all the cake I've been eating! I think the elliebean really likes it though, plus I read that thing about chocolate in pregnancy making for happier babies, so very important that I eat enough. Joking aside, I do feel very bloated, and have done pretty much since the start, same as you nh.

Update from MumOfMonsters - they are changing over to sky, so have to wait a while for internet to be back. She feels like she's lost a leg with no internet!!

ejt1764 · 25/09/2007 09:15

oooooh - thought it was it last night - up from 1am - 4.30am with regular contractions - only every 10 minutes ... was all for putting my mum and the doula on stand-by, only for them all to disappear ... mind you - then ds woke up - he had a monster dream, so I went into bed with him for 20 minutes - the result, I got back into bed at about 515 ... I wouldn't be up bit the midwife is coming at some point this morning!

Feeling very tearful and tired ... think I may have overdone it yesterday!

On a positive note, the study looks wonderful ... I had just tidied and sorted out, then when I went to yoga, dh hoovered and dusted (that took 2 hours in itself!), and sorted out the top 2 shelves that I can't reach (and that have his stuff on!)

Jobs for today:

  • baby quilt
  • photos (that's what I'm supposed to be doing now!)
  • sleep! (after mw has been)

Have a good day everybody!

JustJules - the poem is from the epilogue of a book called "Trying again: A guide to pregnancy after loss" - here

EllieG · 25/09/2007 09:26

Do you think you might be doing too much ejt?

Woooozle100 · 25/09/2007 10:20

hey ejt - take it easy

I wrote a really long message, posted and its not here. The internet postman must have dropped it. Grrrrr. In a nutshell, it congratulated fettle on her gorgeous pics, and said well done to mumpbump and plp. Also mused at length how I can't believe I am nearly at the end of this..the first 4 months felt like 2 years and then the rest of it has just flown by, gathering pace as the weeks go on.

All the best to everyone - specially those in the agonising early days. Will write more in a bit x

fettleandbabyfettle · 25/09/2007 10:34

Ejt - you be careful - sounds as if you are doing too much. Contractions and nesting, sounds to me as this baby is on its way!!! you need to have enough warning to get to your lovely birthing pool!!! We don't want anymore ambulance arrivals on this thread!!!

Toby doing great, but seems to wake 90 mins after being put down at night, but sleeps happily for 3 hours during the day - someone explain that to me!!! I like my sleep at nights!!!

Ejb, I know what you mean, those first few weeks of pg after mc drag by and now suddenly I have my bundle of joy and I feel as if I worried my way through my pregnancy and didn't let myself enjoy it enough, but I suppose that's the way of it after you've had one or more mc! My advice to those in the earlier stages, is, if you can (which is probably a total impossibility), try and relax and enjoy being pregnant!

Take care all

ps thanks for all your lovely comments on my beautiful children - i'm biased as all mothers are, but it is nice to hear other people say it too!!

MrsMcJnr · 25/09/2007 10:56

Morning Last night we were at a real nappy chat at the hospital (basically, it is an environmental charity promoting the use of them so she was able to talk about all the different kinds and to warn us off some makes). The talk was held in the labour ward and as we walked past we sneaked a peak of some new borns we also heard them crying throughout the talk and I exchanged some excited glances with some of the other ladies one of them was having twins and paled significantly at the thought of 20 dirty nappies to change in a day when they are newborn! So, anyone have any thoughts on the use of and type of real nappies to use? I thought I?d stick with disposables for a couple of weeks until the tar poo stops and I?m in the swing of things and then try a lending pack to try the various types out and see how we get on. Any advice gratefully received!

Hello EllieG exciting about your scan, not many sleeps now! Don?t worry if you boobs stop hurting, thankfully, mine did around 13 weeks as they?d been agony! A bump?s not pork hon!

Daisy ? lovely to be a family unit, really pleased for you

Welcome and congratulations Janus the early weeks are hard but we have all been there and will help you through. Lovely news about your scan

Hey Beckle ? I intend to make the buggy worth every penny! how are you?

Uki ? ahh so lovely that your baby thinks the world of you!

Spugs ? congratulations hon!

Feedmenow ? so good to hear you so positive hon. interesting what you say about the nature?s nest, friend of mine adores hers and I was thinking that might be a good solution for us and was going to go and check it out. They seem really expensive though? A good sleeper would be fab I have to say! I will miss sleep so much!

Flosspot ? oh dear! how old is your godson? I certainly had cramping in the early weeks hon.

Nh101 ? that?s good news about the scan, gives you a milestone to aim for.

Hey Fettle and Firsty

Justjules ? I?ll email you hon, I?d love to help and really admire what you are doing. Not sure if it is my poem you want about Ava or the one from the Trying Again book about another child ? I can?t take any credit for that one!

Thanks Flamesparrow send positive vibes to MOM for us!

Ejt ? how exciting! I bet you are shattered today sounds like you are keeping really busy! Thanks for the message for Jules; reading her post again, I think she is actually looking for a poem I wrote for my lost baby very flattered.

Hey Ejb

feedmenow · 25/09/2007 11:02

ejt, get yourself a cadbury's caramel and take it easy in manner of the cadbury's bunny! You need rest ,rest and more rest to ensure you have the strength you need for the birth you plan. No pressure, but you are my VBAC inspiration - if you do it then I'm gonna blinkin' well do it too!

Jules, if you pop in again thin hi and hope you are doing OK..........

becklespeckle · 25/09/2007 11:36

Hi all, just popping in to see if all is okay?

Ellie, I think chocolate is good for baby - mine certainly likes it! S/he has a real good wriggle everytime I have some!

Ejt, don't overdo it hun! Do your sit-down jobs today, you'll need your energy soon enough! Am very excited for you!

MrsMc,I am doing well thanks, baby having a wriggly day today with kicks to the side (rather than into the cervix as usual). Have a feeling s/he is most often transverse at the moment as movement is all low and to the side and bump seems to be getting higher (obviously running out of room lower down). Mind you, that seems to take some pressure off of my hips so that's good! How are things with you? Not long until you go away is it?

Am v excited for my BF today, she was due on Saturday and they gave her a sweep yesterday to try and speed things along. She is soo uncomfy now and very frustrated at going over, her DS1 was 3 days early! Looking forward to having a new baby to cuddle - a little taster before I have my own!

ejt1764 · 25/09/2007 12:01

Afternoon all?

Well, the midwife has been, and I?m just about to take myself back to bed ? with a bar of Dairy Milk!

I got quite tearful ? MW told me this was normal: it?s often a sign that the baby is on its way! However, I?ve been told to rest: there?s a trace of protein in my wee, and my hands feet and face are somewhat puffy and swollen ? time for me to rest up, I think ? I?ve sorted out the photos this morning, and I think that?s enough ? I may do some of the baby?s quilt later on, but I?ve got my first Welsh lesson of the new term this evening, and I want to be on top form for that!

MrsMc ? ah, sorry, thought she was talking about the other one ? have you put your own poem on this thread? I don?t seem to have seen it ? can you let me see it again?

I used washable nappies with ds, and intend doing so again this time ? but, like you, I intend using disposables until everything has settled down ? besides, my mum has bought several packets of newborn-size nappies!

One tip on dealing with the tar-poo ? smear your baby?s bum in Vaseline for the first few days ? makes it much easier to get the tar-poo off!

Which brands of washables did they warn you against? I used Kushies Classics (shaped, need a wrap) with ds ? am going to use those ones again, but have topped up my nappy supply with some cotton tots bots (also shaped, need a wrap). The Kushies are now going to be on their 3rd child ? quite impressive really!

Feedmenow ? I am about to follow your orders!!

Beckle ? when lo was transverse, I felt all the kicks out to the sides: now she?s head down, I feel them top and bottom!

Right, am going to follow everybody?s advice now, and go to bed!!

Have a good day, all!

EllieG · 25/09/2007 14:17

Sensible ejt. Eat chocolate and sleep x

goingfor3 · 25/09/2007 15:36

MrsMcJnr - I used cloth with dd2. Motherease one size are very good with a motherease air flow wrap. Cotton bottoms were also good for us but the motherase applix wrap is mych better then the cotton bottoms ones. Since I used then bamboo has become really popular though dd trained to early to try them!

ejt1764 · 25/09/2007 16:12

Ate chocolate and slept ... now feel much better!

MrsMc - like goingfor3, I used the Motherease Airflow wraps - my kushies wraps just perished really quickly - the motherease wraps were much more sturdy, and lasted a lot longer.

I found the information on the nappy lady website really useful - I did the survey, and found that I knew my advisor - both through mn, and through another forum I post on!

Going to pick up ds in a minute - he may well be very upset - one of the wheels fell off his scooter this morning - dh will have to fix it for him - he can't be scooterless! I find that if he has to walk anywhere then he moans and complains - but if he goes on his bike / on his scooter, he'll go for miles!

Welsh class tonight ... looking forward to it!

love to all ...

MrsMcJnr · 25/09/2007 17:43

Beckle ? your kicks sound like mine, its odd when they are beneath isn?t it? Sore back today so typing this whilst sitting on my ball exciting for your friend

Ejt ? take it easy hon you sound shattered! Not sure my poem is appropriate for this thread ? it was about the loss but I?ll email it to you if you?d like to read it enjoy the Welsh lesson DH goes back to Spanish after a summer away tomorrow and I know he hasn?t revised at all Thanks for the Vaseline tip! Well she said Kushies leak the most but that Tots Bots and Motherease were great. Thanks for the link, hope you get the scooter fixed.

Thanks Goingfor3 all really useful. Lots of the Jan ladies are talking about you and how pleased they are to see you on the June thread hope you are doing well.

DonDons · 25/09/2007 19:34

Hi Girls, just wanted to introduce myself but first of all say a big thank you to you all for (unknowingly) getting me through the last couple of months. I made a neurotic decision to not post anything until I had my scan and/or reached 12 weeks.

Been TTC for 2.5 years and had MC last March. Took the (evil) wonder drug for 5 cycles and was about to start IVF when I got my much awaited BFP. So now 11 weeks and had my first scan today and everything is perfect - can't believe it! Hope you don't mind me joining - hopefully I can help others like you lot have kept me sane! (EDD 15 April BTW). xxx

ejt1764 · 25/09/2007 20:48

Dondons - fantastic news about your bfp and your scan - here's hoping you have the most uneventful and boring pg ever recorded!

It's nice to know we've been helpful even if we weren't aware of it!

Woooozle100 · 25/09/2007 21:27

congratulations DonDons. Hope you can relax a little now and enjoy your pregnancy

Glad yr resting up now, ejt.

Seeing my midwife tomorrow cos I've been really itchy. I wasn't worried at first, assuming it was just stretchy skin but am having blood tests tomorrow just in case. Once this was arranged, my itching seemed to get worse - don't know if this is just paranoia

Beckle and MrsMc - I'm getting movements like that. Was told by mw last week that baby was engaged so unlikely to be transverse now but am still getting movements (and bulges!) to the side. Think he's got long legs

Ooh is anyone watching this bringing up baby programme? Eeek don't think that Trilby King woman would relax me - she's terrifying! Mind you, don't think I'd subscribe to any one parenting methodology - take bits from all of them and do what works for you

Bouncingturtle · 26/09/2007 07:57

Morning everyone
EJT - you keep taking it easy! Get your DP to bring you more chocolate
MrsMc - have you tried your local council website? Many councils are offering money off vouchers and discout schemes for washable nappies - with mine I can get a trial pack of several types of nappy for half price and 20% washables I buy from them.
Hope everyone else is okay!

EllieG · 26/09/2007 09:04

Hello dondons - lovely to hear your PG has been good so far x

feedmenow · 26/09/2007 10:29

Morningall! Welcome dondons! Strange to think we've had you among us without us even knowing! But I know what you mean, it is scary to post somewhere and become attached to a thread and its "occupants" when you are contsantly worried you'll end up leaving again anyway. But you are here now, so come on in and join the fun!
ejt, glad the sleep perked you up. Hope the welsh lesson was good. Have you only just started or do you already speak it to some extent? It is a real shame that so many welsh people don't actually speak their own language at all........
Bouncing, very interesting what you said about the local councils and nappies. I'll have a look on my one. Is it the borough council or the county council?
Well, I am a very naughty mother! I am collecting my dd from school at lunchtime to take her to the theatre with my mum. Have obviously not told the school that is whats going on! Have just told them she has an "appointment"! I would have loved it if my mum had let me do that kind of thing when I was a child!
