38+6 weeks pregnant- anyone fancy joining me in a babywatch thread?!

39 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I lost my mucus plug 2 weeks ago and have been getting tonnes of low down pressure and sharp stabbing pains in my cervix ever since, but no progress.

This is baby 2 for us. DD is just turned 2. I’m impatient for baby to arrive but also desperate to savour the last few days (weeks Confused) with my little girl.

Anyone in a similar position and want to join me on bsbywatch?

38+6 here too and can empathise with the shabby uncomfortable feelings down low! I've been symptom spotting for 3 weeks now but still nothing.
I'm only little and I'm struggling with the size of bump this week, another week down the line feels like I'd be humongous!

I finished work yesterday so hoping for a couple of days rest but would be nice if baby arrived during the week!!

Beansmeansheinz · 20/07/2019 10:24

Yes please Smile I’m 39 weeks, first baby, looking forward to meeting him/her but also a little bit sad the pregnancy journey is coming to an end!

RoseBud2016 · 20/07/2019 12:34

@SenoraSurf OMG well done for only just finishing work! I finished a week ago and was dead on my feet by that point!
I’m tall but usually a size 6-8 so I completely understand the huge bump predictament. I’m over 4cm bigger (fundal height) than I was full term with DD. Everyone keeps telling me how huge I am! Hmm

@Beansmeansheinz Completely agree! I love being pregnant but this last week or so is really testing my patience. It would be fine if I felt comfortable but the severe pressure is quite unbearable at times.
Any signs of any progress? X

@RoseBud2016 none so far! I had a very strong practice contraction the other night and thought “is this it?!?” Like strong menstrual cramp with stomach tightening, But it disappeared when I went for a walk round house 😂 haven’t noticed plug or anything!
I have noticed baby putting a lot of pressure down there though, especially when I’m driving! Quite uncomfy!
I’ve been eating dates everyday, apparently it helps soften cervix and makes for a faster labour, not sure how true it is but can’t hurt Smile

Triskaidekaphilia · 20/07/2019 21:39

I'll join you! I'm 39+2. I get a lot of cramping pains quite low down like period pains, and pain on my cervix and urethra. I forgot to ask midwife this week if the baby was fully engaged yet (partial last time) but she said she was in a good position for labour. The other night at around 4.30 I had an hour of severe cramps and thought it was early labour, but nothing since. I get tightenings as well but at different times to the cramping usually.

Fae1989 · 20/07/2019 21:53

Hello ladies

Can I join? I’m 37+4 and ready to go! Haha. Finished work yesterday.

Baby is head down (yay) but

No mucus plug noticed yet but have been sick the past two days (violently last night :( ) and been having noticeable tightenings on and off for about a week. I’ve no idea if this means anything as it’s my first baby! I’ve ready Braxton hicks aren’t painful but these feel a bit like period pains.

Got a growth scan at 38+4 as baby been measuring big for a while.

Good luck everyone :)

RoseBud2016 · 21/07/2019 00:23

@Beansmeansheinz Ohhh yes Ive heard about dates- did it last pregnancy but haven’t this time..... maybe I’ll get on that tomorrow! There’s no harm, right?!
Are you drinking raspberry leaf tea? I am- again not sure it has any real affect but it tastes nice Smile

@Triskaidekaphilia
Oh now that does sound promising! These babies are such little teases, aren’t they?! I’ve had overwhelming pressure and cramps this eve whilst out for dinner with DH, and tonnes of Braxton Hicks for days now but nothing regular Confused

@Fae1989 - so sorry you’re being so sick. That sounds like hell! It is worth getting checked out by the doc/Midwife just to check nothing concerning is causing the sickness?
My first was 9lb 5oz so I’m fully expecting this baby to be bigger Shock x

I've not tried dates but today I've started on pineapple, made a smoothie so the core wasn't so tough as I've heard that's the important bit! I have 6 raspberry leaf tablets and the occasional iced raspberry leaf tea, been building up since 32 weeks- not to try and induce but hopefully for a faster active labour!

My braxton hicks have been quite intense the last couple of days but not painful. Quite a bit of dihharea and every time I woke up for a wee in the night I had the crampy feeling. No mucus plug though. Been trying to feel my own cervix but can't reach Grin

Triskaidekaphilia · 22/07/2019 18:06

Ah I forgot I can't spell diarrhea and should always google it Grin

Beansmeansheinz · 22/07/2019 18:37

@Triskaidekaphilia I love pineapple! But have so far been avoiding the core so I may get some tomorrow Grin sorry for tmi but how far up do we need to go to reach cervix? Are we able to feel our own at any point? I was thinking about having a rummage out of curiosity!
@RoseBud2016 no I haven’t been on the raspberry leaf but think I will start! Anything to help 😂

Triskaidekaphilia · 22/07/2019 20:06

@Beansmeansheinz I think all the pineapple's good but the core has the most bromelain, which is supposed to help soften the cervix.

I don't know if we're supposed to feel our own, I know I was able to for ttc but it goes so high in pregnancy it's difficult! I just about got the edge of it the other day and it felt soft but couldn't check if I was dilated or anything. But now it seems higher again Confused

bakingbabyv · 23/07/2019 07:07

Morning ladies ❤️

Can I join? 38+1 with baby no.2 and I am exhausted 😔. Midwife today and I'm going to beg her for a sweep when I'm 40weeks - they don't usually offer sweeps to 2nd time mums where I'm from but I am going to beg and possibly cry to her if I need to 😂.

One minute I feel so ready to have this baby and the next I don't 😫. Xx

Whoopsies · 23/07/2019 07:25

Can I join too? I'm 38+3 today and been having on and off contractions and pains for a week! Went into hospital last Thursday with reduced movements (all fine when I got there!!) And was told I was 1cm dilated. They did a sweep and I lost my mucus plug the next day but not much else going on since. I'm still having aches and contractions, but they aren't very painful and stop and start! Baby is back to back so apparently that might be why he's being so slow! Have literally lived on my birthing ball for the last week!!

RoseBud2016 · 23/07/2019 16:51

@Triskaidekaphilia - I’ve just sent DH out to get me loads of pineapple and dates! Grin and I’m planning to start on the clary sage massage oil tonight! I’m glad I’m not in labour today with it being such a scorcher but I’d like to get things underway now..... impatient!

@bakingbabyv - welcome! Totally get the exhaustion. Being heavily pregnant with a toddler is a huge new level of exhaustion isn’t it?! I keep saying to DH- I think I’ll actually feel less exhausted with a newborn and toddler than I do pregnant!

OP posts:
RoseBud2016 · 23/07/2019 16:53

@Whoopsies - welcome! Is this your first? I’ve not heard of a sweep being done that early before! Did they say why? X

RoseReally · 23/07/2019 16:59

Can I join please? 39 weeks today and bored out of my tree. This is number 2 for me as well. DD was 10 days late so really just hoping this one isn't as late as she was! Haven't had any signs yet. If I do any amount of walking I get really strong Braxton Hicks but I've stopped that as I have a bit of SPD so pretty uncomfortable!

I've heard toddler + newborn is easier than toddler + late pregnancy- hope there's truth to that!

bakingbabyv · 23/07/2019 17:34

I hope the toddler and newborn rumours are true 😂.

Had midwife today and baby is back to back 😭 BUT she's promised me a sweep when I'm 40+1 which has made my day... I was in a foul mood this morning so that's cheered me up.

How is everyone today? Hope you've all kept cool(ish) xxx

astridforty · 23/07/2019 17:40

Joining in Smile - 38+6 today and currently being battered from the inside by a very active baby. Just ordered hand held fans and an ice towel after seeing them recommended on here, it is TOO HOT!

RoseReally · 23/07/2019 17:43

@bakingbabyv good news about the sweep, I also have one booked in for 40+1 next week. Do you know why they don't offer them in your area for subsequent babies?

I was a bit unsure about whether to have it or not, feel like it didn't do anything last time. Thought I'd give it a go though, I'm really hoping they'll tell me I'm already 2-3cm. It took me forever to get there last time, would be a relief if there's already been some dilation before any major contractions!

I've invested in an AC unit - highly recommend!

Beansmeansheinz · 23/07/2019 20:59

@bakingbabyv my baby was back to back, I started sitting on ball, spending time on all fours, sitting on edge of seat upright forward and open legged, and successfully got baby to spin round! Anything’s worth a go!
Went to shop today and they were sold out of whole pineapples Sad will ask DH to look out for them tomorrow.

Triskaidekaphilia · 24/07/2019 10:16

@RoseBud2016 with this weather I can't decide whether I'd rather be dying of it while pregnant, or with a newborn I constantly worry is overheating! The rain and breeze from last night's thunderstorm was a big relief but it's boiling again now.

Welcome @bakingbabyv @Whoopsies @RoseReally and @astridforty

My sweep is at 40+4 and I'm definitely taking it!

bakingbabyv · 24/07/2019 10:23

@RoseReally I have no idea, I think she felt sorry for me yesterday so is letting me have one at 40+1 😂.

Thanks for the tips @Beansmeansheinz I'm hoping it does turn, I had such a lovely labour with my DS & I stupidly googled back to back baby's and a lot said it's longer and more painful. Cracking 😂.

My midwife also told me to lay off the ice lollies and opt for a cold salad instead. Is she okay?! 😂

RoseBud2016 · 25/07/2019 07:27

@bakingbabyv - lots of sitting forward and upright for you, to try and give the baby some space to turn back around into the best position. My DD was back to back at birth after turning in the birth canal. Very frustrating!

@RoseReally - I’m also fantasising about being 3-4cm dilated when they eventually check me- hopefully for a sweep although nothing has been mentioned about a sweep yet Hmm It took me 10 hours on the drip induction to get to 3cn last time! Confused It was not much fun at all.

Everyone day gets or the hottest day ever recorded?!

For once I’m desperate not to go into labour today! Grin
