38+6 weeks pregnant- anyone fancy joining me in a babywatch thread?!

39 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I lost my mucus plug 2 weeks ago and have been getting tonnes of low down pressure and sharp stabbing pains in my cervix ever since, but no progress.

This is baby 2 for us. DD is just turned 2. I’m impatient for baby to arrive but also desperate to savour the last few days (weeks Confused) with my little girl.

Anyone in a similar position and want to join me on bsbywatch?

@mrsmummy90 - massive congratulations, wonderful news!!

RoseReally · 30/07/2019 14:20

Congratulations @Mrsmummy90!

I'm still having pains but I think it will still be a while Sad. Hoping baby will arrive tomorrow maybe.

Beansmeansheinz · 30/07/2019 15:21

Hello everyone Smile I had my little boy this morning, home birth with entonox. Bloody Hard work and a 4 hour active labour following a long latent phase. I can’t believe I did it!!!

RoseBud2016 · 30/07/2019 15:23

Huge congratulations @Mrsmummy90 that sounds like it was pretty quick! I hope it all went ok?!

@RoseReally eek! Sounds like it won’t be long for you either! How far along are you now? The best of luck!

Nothing happening here. Soooo uncomfortable. These last few days/weeks are really tough! I forgot how exhausting it is waiting!

@Beansmeansheinz many congratulations! I had a long latent phase with DD, was really hoping this one would he quicker but not looking like it now!

@RoseBud2016 thank you, due date is today. Starting to get pretty fed up now. The waiting is the worst isn't it? Hope it's not too much longer for you either.

Fae1989 · 30/07/2019 16:01

@Beansmeansheinz - many congratulations to you!!

Hope all you other ladies waiting aren’t waiting too long!!

Had a sweep today, I’m 1cm dilated but cervix is still posterior...have a feeling I’ll be waiting a while!!

Triskaidekaphilia · 30/07/2019 17:43

Congratulations @Beansmeansheinz!

@Fae1989 that's exactly the same as me, 1cm but cervix posterior. I'm sorry to say mine doesn't seem to have worked. Going back for another tomorrow.

I've gone back to pineapple today and a very long bath. I keep getting tightenings but it's sometimes hard to tell if they're even braxton hicks or DD moving about as I think she's getting a bit squashed in there now! Weird to think they were talking about inducing at 37 weeks because baby is quite big, now I'm almost at 41!

Fae1989 · 30/07/2019 17:59

@Triskaidekaphilia - sorry to hear it doesn’t sound like it’s worked :( is there a timeframe for one to work in?? Fingers crossed for your other one tomorrow! I’ve got another booked for Friday!

I’ve been having Braxton hicks since it was done and also really strong period type pains, did you get those? Back to bouncing on my ball (I swear this works though cause my cervix was closed four days ago 😂) hope your methods help speed things up for you!!

Triskaidekaphilia · 30/07/2019 18:09

@Fae1989 I've heard if it's going to work it will be in 24 hours. Although my midwife said she finds most people notice twinges etc. within a few hours.

Yeah my braxton hicks were similar to normal but I got the period type pains in the evening, which i've not had for a while! I've been bouncing on my ball most of today and yesterday, the first smear was my first internal so I have no idea if it was bouncing, sex, pineapple, nipple stimulation or spicy stuff that did it. But pineapple and nipples gave me the strongest braxton hicks I think.

RoseBud2016 · 30/07/2019 19:26

@Beansmeansheinz So sorry our posts must have crossed earlier- huge congratulations to you! How did it all go? How are you feeling?

@Triskaidekaphilia Completely feel your pain! I hope tomorrow’s is more successful. I’m 40+2 and feeling very uncomfortable so god knows how you’re feeling!

@Fae1989 you never know things could kick off over night Smile Fingers crosses for you x

@Triskaidekaphilia - I’m with you with the ball bouncing! Sounds very similar to my symptoms. Fingers crossed for you tomorrow :)

@RoseBud2016 - thanks lovely. How are you holding up?

Finding comfort in the fact some people have had their babies!!

Hang in there ladies!

X

SenoraSurf · 30/07/2019 22:08

@Fae1989 @Triskaidekaphilia how you two getting on?

MW tried to sweep me at 3pm but cervix was back and closed so was a no go, she had a fiddle and did try to rock is forward (didn't hurt). Have gone for a walk, are pineapple, dtd and bounced on my ball... Had lightening pains awfully about 6.30pm (they forced me off the sofa and back onto ball). For the last hour and a half I've had pain in the right side of my back and right side of lower bump roughly every 15 mins and have felt pressure in my groin all evening and still had a dull period type ache in back and lower tummy. What are your thoughts? No show or waters or anything but don't know if I'm reading too much into symptoms or not :( been having Braxton Hicks and milder lightening pains for weeks but this feels more ramped up

Fae1989 · 30/07/2019 22:19

@SenoraSurf - nothing to report here!

If it’s any consolation mine went from closed to 1cm in the last few days. I think it can happen pretty quickly. I also read that even if it’s closed and the midwife is able to massage\move it then that can definitely help! Sounds like you’re doing all the right things to get things going. Not to be a symptom spotter too but I read that back pain is more of an indicator of things starting. Symptoms ramping up definitely sounds like the body getting ready, I guess it’s just a case of when (for all of us!) haha.

I’ve barely left my ball for the last two days 😂 I think it’s definitely helping!

It’s really hard to judge isn’t it?! I think we all progress at different rates and it can all happen really fast!

Triskaidekaphilia · 30/07/2019 22:36

@RoseBud2016 to be fair I'm not struggling too much, since I stopped work and my pelvic pain eased off I've had good balance and wouldn't remember I was pregnant if not for the exhaustion! And it has cooled down a lot since that horrible heatwave on my due date! What I can't deal with is the anxiety about whether baby is ok, I feel like that in itself is slowing labour even though my movements are fine and midwives aren't concerned.

@SenoraSurf could be something to your symptoms, sounds promising. At the same time mine keep coming and going.

I've just inflated the ball a bit more and it's way better, I thought I'd done it as much as I could but my knees still weren't quite below my hip level as my legs are very long, but now they are. It's far more comfortable now, my lower back hurts though and I don't know if I've hurt it and should stop or if it's a good sign Confused really hoping I'll be a little more dilated tomorrow so the second sweep might be more effective. If that doesn't work I have to look at booking an induction for next week.

Fae1989 · 30/07/2019 22:50

@Triskaidekaphilia - hang in there, fingers crossed for tomorrow for you!!

Any ladies who had a sweep had long period type pains? They’re really intense but way too long to be contractions :/ ugh!

canonlyhopexo · 31/07/2019 00:42

Can I join in!? Currently 38+5 with first baby. Been getting loads of braxton hicks which have really amped up in frequency last week or so and have a lot of pressure in my bum and noonie, even going for a wee feels quite uncomfortable. Currently wide awake after needing a no. 2 - managed to go but still have this heavy aching pressure just all down there. On the ball at the moment just willing things to happen soon. Baby is moving around quite a bit so don't think anything is imminent.

Fae1989 · 31/07/2019 09:17

@canonlyhopexo - welcome! Sounds like you’re in a similar boat to a lot of us :)

Triskaidekaphilia · 31/07/2019 11:48

Welcome @canonlyhopexo, the pressure should be a good sign that your baby is in the right place.

My sweep today was totally different, it hurt and she could only just reach my cervix so couldn't do it properly. She says she tried to pull it round to the front a bit though so that may do something. She doesn't think I'm dilated after all though! I'm probably looking at induction next week now.

SenoraSurf · 31/07/2019 12:31

@Triskaidekaphilia ahh that's annoying, we must have matching cervix's 😂 fingers crossed our bodies do their thing sooner rather than later!!
My symptoms last night faded away in the night so I'm still a pregnant non labouring lump 😑

Fae1989 · 31/07/2019 12:45

@Triskaidekaphilia - sorry to hear that. If it’s any consolation my first one hasn’t worked (apart from giving me really shitty period type pains). Fingers crossed for you though, you never know, our bodies might kick start things sooner than we think!!

@SenoraSurf - likewise! Sorry to hear yours have disappeared though. Sounds like we are all on similar places!!

What gestation is everyone now? Im feeling hopeful that a few people from the thread have had their babies!! I’m 39&1 and really want to avoid being induced on Sunday so keeping fingers crossed for second sweep. I had a nosey at the sheet midwife used and the Bishops Score which I then decided to Google. Mine was only 3 :( which apparently isn’t promising! Even though my due date is 6 days away this baby isn’t getting any smaller (or particularly wanting to come out)

Anyone else extremely bored? I’m not used to not working and I feel like I’m going mad waiting to go into labour :/

canonlyhopexo · 31/07/2019 13:16

@Triskaidekaphilia @Fae1989 thank you. Baby is 3/5th engaged apparently. It just feels like I've got a lot of tight heavy pressure at the front but other than that I'm not really sure that I've got any other symptoms of baby coming any time soon. I've been on the ball, walking around and rocking today and I'm going to go for a walk to try and relieve the pressure a bit or try and get things moving.

Mrsmummy90 · 31/07/2019 15:46

Congratulations @Beansmeansheinz 😊😊😊

Triskaidekaphilia · 31/07/2019 15:58

Sounds like we're all in the same kind of place with symptoms coming and going all the time!

I've been told baby is low down for a couple of weeks but not given a score, checked my notes and wasn't written down previously but today she's written 5/5... so baby is ready to go but my cervix isn't Sad on the plus side if nothing happens til next week, maybe the pessary will open it up and I'll go into labour without needing the drip as well?

Triskaidekaphilia · 31/07/2019 16:04

Oh, and I'm 40+6 based on date given at scan/date hospital is using. But going by when I tracked ovulation/conception to, my original due date was actually more accurate, and that's today.

Fae1989 · 31/07/2019 16:23

@canonlyhopexo - sounds like you’re doing all the right things to get things moving!

@Triskaidekaphilia - it really does sound like we are in similar places doesn’t it? Are you bothered about being induced if you have to be? I was but I’m not too worried anymore. Like you say the pessary May get things going (or things could happen before then). My hospital offer a balloon induction which is drug free, maybe see if yours offer the same?

I’ve had some pain this afternoon and a bit of blood tinged mucus - maybe a bit of plug? But it’s stopped again! I have no idea if this means anything haha!
