38+6 weeks pregnant- anyone fancy joining me in a babywatch thread?!

39 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I lost my mucus plug 2 weeks ago and have been getting tonnes of low down pressure and sharp stabbing pains in my cervix ever since, but no progress.

This is baby 2 for us. DD is just turned 2. I’m impatient for baby to arrive but also desperate to savour the last few days (weeks Confused) with my little girl.

Anyone in a similar position and want to join me on bsbywatch?

@ RoseBud2016 I'm also really keen not to go into labour today, I'm sure the hospital will be absolutely baking! Much rather stay at home with mt AC unit!

Spoke to a friend who said that after sweeps (with her second and third) she starting contracting within hours.. and she was already about 3cm at the sweep. Fingers crossed everyone!

bakingbabyv · 25/07/2019 11:25

@RoseReally this gives me so much hope....

Did the clary sage on the bump last night and had period pains shortly after, also my boobs were leaking so bad I had to put a bra and nipple pads on... Was hoping it was time but clearly not. Still here. Still pregnant 🙃

Hi ladies

I'm rubbish at keeping up with threads - just wondering how everyone is doing in this heat?! Any signs of movement of babies yet?

I thought mine was coming but turns out it was probably just braxton hicks...not even remotely dilated :O

If anyone's struggling in the heat, get your friend/partner/relative to rub ice packs over the tops of your clothes...it's absolutely divine!

Triskaidekaphilia · 25/07/2019 13:53

Today's my due date but I'm totally fine with not going into labour in this heat! I was going to go down to the shops today to stay active but I'm worried I'll faint, and DH can't come with me as he sprained his ankle yesterday!

Fae1989 · 25/07/2019 16:35

@Triskaidekaphilia - Does your hospital have decent air conditioning? At least if you go into labour later in the week or next week it's meant to cool down a bit, bet that would make for an easier time of it! I'm not sure what's worse - having a baby in this heat or carrying said baby!

As for staying active, I've tried but everywhere is so hot :/ even bouncing on the birth ball is knackering me!

@RoseReally - having an AC unit is genius! I saw one on Groupon and was very tempted...

RoseReally · 25/07/2019 19:58

@Fae1989 - I'm so glad I invested in it, I don't like hot weather at the best of times! Not sure I'll like the next electricity bill but oh well!

Triskaidekaphilia · 25/07/2019 20:16

@Fae1989 I'm honestly not sure about the air con. Some bits I've been to are but I don't know about the birth centre. I keep getting stuck to my birth ball cos I can't bear to wear anything but pyjama shorts!

Fae1989 · 25/07/2019 20:52

@RoseReally - I'm right there with you. I've just started mat leave and my partner suggesting getting the AC unit and I was like 'but what about the bills'! Haha. It's meant to cool down next week, 18-20 degrees suits me a bit better :)

@Triskaidekaphilia - Same at our hospital actually, triage is nicely air conditioned and I think the birth pool rooms are but the birth pool temperature is 37 degrees (so I flipping hope they are air conditioned cause that is too hot for this weather!!) I feel your pain with the birth ball, it's too hot to bounce on mine so using it as a foot rest for my little swollen piggies!

Has anyone had any signs of movement of babies yet? I'm intrigued to know if the heat makes them want to escape or stay put (or has no effect at all!)

Mrsmummy90 · 25/07/2019 20:59

Hi! 39+6 here with dd2. Dd1 is 17mo.

Absolutely fed up now! I've been losing bits of my mucus plug for weeks and have had false labour 3 times. Been dilated 2cm for 4 days now!

Get out baby!!!

Fae1989 · 25/07/2019 21:02

@Mrsmummy90 - Hi!

Bless you! Hope your little one arrives soon :)

Mrsmummy90 · 25/07/2019 21:07

@Fae1989 thanks :)

Every time I start getting contractions, I think 'this is it!!' but they lead nowhere. Starting to think that this is just my life now lol

Fae1989 · 25/07/2019 21:22

@Mrsmummy90 - I feel your pain! I'm 38+3 and even though due date isn't til 6th I had really painful braxton hicks all day and night that literally amounted to nothing!

Your little one will be here soon, fingers crossed, keep us posted :)

Mrsmummy90 · 25/07/2019 21:31

Its so frustrating isn't it? These babies just love to trick us lol

Triskaidekaphilia · 25/07/2019 22:03

I keep getting braxton hicks as well, they've become more frequent in the last week, and since 2 days ago some have been painful, I think what I'd think of as 'real' contractions if they weren't so irregular! But I also get stomach cramps which keep turning out to be trapped wind or diharroea which I always think are contractions for a split second!

Glad it's supposed to be cooling down next week as I have a sweep on Monday and I feel like that might just do the trick!

Fae1989 · 26/07/2019 01:13

@Mrsmummy90 - they really do!

@Triskaidekaphilia - you sound like you’ve had the same symptoms as me! That was me all yesterday, thinking it was the real deal and being sorely disappointed! Until this evening it’s been radio silence on the Braxton hicks front though! Weird. Hoping they all make an appearance soon (ie when it’s slightly cooler but not longer than a week Grin

bakingbabyv · 26/07/2019 07:01

Worst. Night. Sleep. Ever 😭

Stupidly had a 3 hour nap with DS yesterday and I just could not sleep for the life of me yesterday. Had lots of pressure in my bum last night whilst on my ball - trying to leave over it to turn this baby from back to back and ease the pain from my coccyx.

How is everyone today? I mean, I know it's early morning but it's early enough to be fed up already 😂 xxx

Mrsmummy90 · 26/07/2019 07:15

Can you have a little nap today to help you keep your energy?

Today is my due day and I'm miserable as hell lol. Feeling quite sick!

Triskaidekaphilia · 26/07/2019 11:14

I had a terrible night's sleep as well. Tried to sleep in bed, gave up and went to sleep on the sofa but the edges of the cushions were digging in and I didn't have the energy to fold out the sofa bed, then I went to the toilet and the cat stole my space so I decided to try the other part of the sofa (corner sofa) but on that side the cushions slid instead. I ended up going back to bed at about half 3 and finally got to sleep. Got 5-6 hours but still very broken by trips to the loo. I used to function on that in my old job but I was 4 years younger and not pregnant! Reckon I'll probably end up napping later.

@Fae1989 yes that's what I'm hoping too. Think today is cool enough for me to handle a 10 minute walk down to the shops to get myself some snacks, Grin might help get things moving I hope.

RoseReally · 26/07/2019 14:35

I also had a terrible night's sleep. Thankfully toddler at nursery today. It did occur to me this morning that this level of tiredness will be the everyday norm in probably a few day's time!

Also whenever I wake in the night the baby seems to be doing the macarena, and I barely notice movements during the day.. hoping he/ she changes their routine when they come out!

RoseBud2016 · 27/07/2019 07:52

*doing a happy dance that the ridiculously hot weather is over**

I had my 40 week midwife appointment yesterday (at 39+5) and to say she was surprised to see me still pregnant would be an understatement. She was convinced I’d have had baby by now because of all the signs I’ve been having Confused
They don’t do sweeps for second time Mums until 41 weeks in my area Sad which I’m so disappointed about! She said I need to have lots of sex and keep active...... DH had a massive smile on his face. There’s absolutely no chance of that happening- I can’t think of anything worse right now!!!

@Mrsmummy90 -2cm is a great start though! I’m jealous! I’ve been getting tonnes of Braxton Hicks for the last few days and have started feeling a bit sick and not quite right.... hopefully it’s a sign of some sort of progress?!

@Triskaidekaphilia
-bless you! That sounds like a really rough nights sleep. I hope you got a bit more sleep last night.

The plan for today is loads of walking, pineapple smoothies, raspberry leaf tea and clary sage massages..... and if none of that works, maybe DH will get lucky later.... if I’m desperate! WinkGrin

Mrsmummy90 · 27/07/2019 07:58

@Triskaidekaphilia my midwife suggested sex as well and I also couldn't think of anything worse! My poor Dh has just accepted that he'll be a monk for the foreseeable future lol.

I had my 40 week appt yesterday (at exactly 40 weeks) and I'm with an independent midwife group so thankfully was allowed a sweep. Unfortunately I'm really ill with a sickness thing (both ends 🤢) so hoping maybe actually stays put for a couple of days!

Hope these babies come out soon!!

Mrsmummy90 · 27/07/2019 07:58

*baby

Triskaidekaphilia · 27/07/2019 12:22

@RoseReally mine's the same with movements, I don't think it says much about their sleeping pattern though (I hope!) more that they tend to move when you're relaxing and get rocked to sleep when you're moving around.

@RoseBud2016 I tried to go super active yesterday and do a big clean on my house despite having no nesting instinct whatsoever, but if anything I had less contractions Confused
Potentially TMI but we're talking about it anyway: I have had sex twice this week, not specifically to help labour but I have to admit it was in the back of my mind... nipple stimulation as part of yesterdays activities gave me constant periodish pains but they were a bit TOO intense and I couldn't decide whether to tell him to keep going to help labour or tell him to stop for my own enjoyment. Grin I read somewhere that swallowing semen could be even more beneficial than it being near the cervix but I haven't told him that yet... Wink think I'll research that one today...

@Mrsmummy90 I've been feeling so ill the past few days, dihharea and nausea is getting worse and making me feel so drained, first I thought it could be a good sign but it's been going on for about 5 days so wondering if I also have a bug.

Mrsmummy90 · 27/07/2019 12:56

@Triskaidekaphilia there must be something going round! I know a few people who are suffering.
Go see your dr about it. Apparently it shouldn't last more than a couple of days.
I'm on day 2 and have barely left the bathroom! Thank god for Dh or my dd would be a very bored little girl today
