38+6 weeks pregnant- anyone fancy joining me in a babywatch thread?!

39 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I lost my mucus plug 2 weeks ago and have been getting tonnes of low down pressure and sharp stabbing pains in my cervix ever since, but no progress.

This is baby 2 for us. DD is just turned 2. I’m impatient for baby to arrive but also desperate to savour the last few days (weeks Confused) with my little girl.

Anyone in a similar position and want to join me on bsbywatch?

@Mrsmummy90 yeah that's what I'm thinking. I'm going to mention to the midwife on Monday before accepting the sweep in case that makes it better to wait, and will try and see GP on Monday as well, it's just near impossible to get an appointment there!

astridforty · 27/07/2019 22:50

Is anyone else suffering with congestion/ cold/ runny nose? Don’t feel unwell and unlikely to be hay fever given it’s chucking it down today. Just making me permanently breathless and more fed up than I am already!

Triskaidekaphilia · 27/07/2019 23:48

@astridforty one of ny nostrils is always blocked and sometimes my nose gets runny in the day too and it's hard to taste. I think someone mentioned on another thread that it's called pregnancy rhinitis.

Triskaidekaphilia · 27/07/2019 23:49

Sorry, meant so say, one of my nostrils is always blocked at night.

Triskaidekaphilia · 29/07/2019 10:14

Got my sweep soon! How is everyone getting on!

Mrsmummy90 · 29/07/2019 10:55

Still here! Mucus plug went on Saturday. Had cramps on and off since but still no baby!
Been so ill all weekend.

How are you?

SenoraSurf · 29/07/2019 11:16

40+1 here, no signs whatsoever yet and baby is still practically residing in my rib cage.

The 'any news?' Messages are constant and I'm sick and tired of symptom spotting.

Boooooooo.

Triskaidekaphilia · 29/07/2019 11:35

@Mrsmummy90 either I had a bug and it's gone, or pineapple doesn't agree with me- I'm going to have a bit more pineapple today and see. Still no sign of my mucus plug. Just had the sweep, I'm 1cm dilated and baby's head is very low. My cervix is posterior, don't really know if that changes anything, I'll have to look it up in a sec. Sweep didn't hurt at all, so I agreed to another on wednesday if nothing happens before then. I mentioned I don't want induction until next week at the earliest. Just bouncing away on my ball now until I can be bothered to go for a walk, either all around my road (it's a big circle) or down to the shops, but annoyingly it's got all hot again.

@SenoraSurf I'm getting sick of all the messages asking too. It's mostly colleagues, my ex-supervisor from work is getting overly excited and asked me twice in the week before my due date. Family are better, MIL just asks me or DH how I'm feeling, not whether stuff is happening yet, and my own mum has left me alone since we last spoke at 39 weeks, having had me and my brother at 40+8 and 40+5.

SenoraSurf · 29/07/2019 11:41

@Triskaidekaphilia it's frustrating as I seen to be getting messages off expected people, as well as people I only ever hear from on birthdays or Christmas... highlights how far away labour feels lol.
I also can't get my head around it happening spontaneously. Surely there must be signs, it can't just be Oo that hurts and bam, that's labour, right?! Pretty sure I've read every online forum about labour from 2002 onwards...

Triskaidekaphilia · 29/07/2019 14:53

@SenoraSurf I really don't know, some people say they have no signs and then it suddenly happens. Personally I spent a whole week with strong signs it was about to happen but in the last couple of days, nothing! Had a few twinges now I've had the sweep though. Think I'm going to brave a walk in a minute.

Fae1989 · 29/07/2019 15:10

Hi all,

Just catching up!

Sorry to those who are being harrassed and/or been poorly. Hope you feel better soon!

I have a sweep tomorrow at 39 weeks! Due to be induced on Sunday if sweep doesn’t work (praying that it does!)

Anyone else had a sweep before? It is as bad as it sounds?!

Triskaidekaphilia · 29/07/2019 15:29

@Fae1989 I had mine this morning. She said it would feel similar to a smear test, but it was actually not as bad imo- just a finger, no speculum or brush thing. Obviously it's different for everyone- when I was being monitored in ABC a woman was whimpering and very distressed so I was a bit worried. But for me I was feeling a bit tense at first but once her finger was in I closed my eyes and told myself to relax every muscle, and felt no discomfort at all. I often used to feel my own cervix while TTC so I think that helped in terms of being used to the sensation.

Fae1989 · 29/07/2019 15:33

@Triskaidekaphilia - thanks lovely hope it works for you!! I always feel like the anticipation of these things is far worse than the actual event haha. If I could go and just get it out of the way now I so would!!

Triskaidekaphilia · 29/07/2019 15:39

Same @Fae1989! I try not to think about things until the last second for this reason- including labour to some extent!

RoseBud2016 · 29/07/2019 15:44

@astridforty - I’ve been suffering with a blocked nose for the majority of this pregnancy but it’s definitely been worst in this third trimester. It’s the most irritating thing, especially at night when all you want to do is sleep with your mouth closed!

Eek! Sounds like we could have some births soon with the loss of mucus plugs and successful sweeps! Having said that, here I am 3 weeks after losing my whole mucus plug..... still very pregnant Hmm Grr!

I had 3 hours of mild contractions on Sat night which then faded to nothing by 5:30am on Sun morning. Lots of Braxton Hicks yesterday and today but no more cramping..... this baby is definitely playing me right now!

40+1 today and soooo ready now. Just has a 90 min reflexology session so hoping that gets things moving. Fingers crossed.

@Fae1989 -when I had a sweep with my first I didn’t find it painful at all either. Just a little uncomfortable but it nothing to worry about in my experience. Good luck!

@Triskaidekaphilia that's so frustrating! Let's hope these babies get a bloody move on!!!! 😂
I'm 40+3 today and just cba anymore!

Fae1989 · 29/07/2019 21:40

I’m willing all these babies to be born soon!!

@RoseBud2016 - thank you, you ladies have definitely put my mind at ease!! I wonder how many sweeps I can fit in this week before I decide whether or not to be induced on Sunday!

Hope the reflexology works for you :)
I’m about a week behind you but the Braxton hicks I can relate to! I’ve just no idea whether they’re nothing or mean something, which is a bit annoying! Willing to go into natural labour like you wouldn’t believe 😂

Come on babies, get moving!!

Triskaidekaphilia · 29/07/2019 23:20

I was throwing up really badly a few hours ago (and the diahrroea is back without me having any pineapple) I feel so rough. I'm wondering if I still want the second sweep if this is all it's triggered- no signs of contractions yet except just the tightening braxton hicks in the same frequency as normal.

Mrsmummy90 · 30/07/2019 02:08

Currently in labour! Wish me luck 🤞

RoseReally · 30/07/2019 05:14

Good luck @Mrsmummy90!

I've been having period pains/ cramps since yesterday morning but still no regular pattern. Pains getting a bit stronger so I'm hoping it's going to be today at some point... not sure whether to ask DH to stay home from work.

Sounds like there could be a few babies in the next couple of days. "Open and release" everyone - as DH keeps saying to me!

Mrsmummy90 · 30/07/2019 05:26

I had nothing all day and then tried some nipple stimulation and the contractions started instantly.
This labour has been much worse than with dd so currently enjoying the benefits of an epidural 😂

Hope things move forward for you.

RoseReally · 30/07/2019 06:01

Sorry to hear it's worse than your last labour. I had an epidural with my DD, I loved it! All the best Smile

Triskaidekaphilia · 30/07/2019 12:47

Good luck @Mrsmummy90!
And @RoseReally if yours turns out to be the real deal as well!

Mrsmummy90 · 30/07/2019 13:09

Baby was born this morning weighing 7lbs 8oz 😊

Good luck to all you mummies in waiting x

Triskaidekaphilia · 30/07/2019 13:50

Congratulations @Mrsmummy90!!!
