The Graduates of TTC after pregnancy loss thread #2 "The Penguin Huddle " 🐧🐧🐧

Hello Ladies

Starting a new penguin huddle thread as the first one is getting very full. This is for those of us who've graduated from the conception boards.

Getting a BFP after pregnancy loss is not necessarily a happy time so this is a safe place to vent, worry and share news (good, hopefully, or bad).

I hope you are all here for the long-haul. But you are welcome no matter how briefly.
Others who are pregnant after loss but who weren't on the original thread are of course welcome too.

Let's start the roll call:

Me:
No living children, 3rd pregnancy, currently 8+3. Had early scan at 7 weeks that showed baby measuring right for 7w with a heartbeat. Got another early viability scan booked in for this Tuesday at 8+6. Really scared I've lost this one again.
2 previous pregnancies ended in mmc at 12+3 (baby stopped growing at 5 weeks) in July 2018 and mc (CP but hate that term) in November 2018. Before then had been TTC for 5 years so our journey has been 6 years since starting to TTC.

Who have I missed?

@Amanda81 I'm sorry you're worrying too and so many others on here! But it's nice to know I'm not alone in my anxiety. When the negative thoughts creep in it's so hard to dispel them and they just take over!

Anomaly scan not until the 19th when I will be 20+2. Two weeks away and I'm on holiday for ten days from Friday. I see myself booking another scan but I'm trying to stop myself!

@InDreamland will be thinking of you tomorrow and everyone else struggling xxx

Yikes! Sorry that posted so many times!!! No idea what happened there but my mumsnet app has been playing up all day!

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 05/08/2019 18:40

Oh @Squiff70 that bought a tear to my eye! I hope these are you rainbows xxxxx

sadtoday21 · 05/08/2019 18:48

@Squiff70 congratulations!! That is wonderful news. I meant to wish you well this morning but MN was down. Completely understand your anxiety, but have everything crossed for you that these babies will be wonderfully healthy.

@rubyroot how are you doing these days?

@Russkispy so sorry the bleeding has come back and best wishes for your scan on Wednesday!!

@InDreamland wishing you the very best of luck for your scan tomorrow. How many weeks will you be? It must be incredibly hard to have the scan at the same point you lost the last baby - I’m doing this myself on Friday and I’m dreading it. Milestones are so hard, particularly the bad ones. Sorry also that DH doesn’t seem to understand your anxiety, I think that’s normal but also hard on you. Have you tried telling him how you feel? Here for you if you need to talk!

@Amanda81 wishing you the best of luck on your anamoly scan tomorrow!! I hope it goes smoothly and baby is moving about and waving at you!! Xxx

Justincase87 · 05/08/2019 18:52

Hi all,

I hope you don't mind me posting on here - I posted on briefly on the TTC thread when I got my bfp last November - I am now sitting here with my 4 week old daughter in my arms. I had a MMC last May and got pregnant again about 6 months later. My story isn't the same as everyone's here but I wanted to say there is hope for pregnancy after loss. I worried my way through this whole pregnancy, and had perfectly normal scans all the way through. Please try and enjoy your pregnancies, horrible things do happen, but they might not. I stressed all the way through with no reason to and it took a massive toll on my mental health which has taken a bashing since work. If you have anxiety etc, which is completely reasonable following loss, please push for support through your midwives and don't just ignore it. Wishing you all happy and healthy pregnancies x

Russkispy · 05/08/2019 18:53

@sadtoday21 thank you. It's more of spotting now. I'm feeling very tired all day every and nauseous, now I know it's not nerves. I'm pretty much calm about it all.
@Amanda81 @InDreamland good luck for your scans tomorrow! Everything will be just fine!

Frillyfarmer · 05/08/2019 18:53

@Squiff70 I'm so so pleased for you, amazing you're having twins again!

I have a scan this Saturday when I should be 11weeks. I'm so nervous, I swing from ridiculously anxious to quietly optimistic. I know that realistically I can't jinx things, but I keep holding off factoring this pregnancy into anything... so much so, I've just bought a new dress for a wedding in four weeks time in a size 10 which deffo will not fit me if this pregnancy is OK!

InDreamland · 05/08/2019 19:00

@Catconfusion @ReeReeR thank you. Sorry I'm being so negative. I think I need to just try survive this week but I have no control. If you feel you need to POAS then go for it, I'd be a hypocrite to say step away from the HPTs. I know none of us can see into the future, we all wish we could though right? We need Mrs Positive Pants!

@Squiff70 wow! Lovely news on the heartbeats. I'm not surprised you're anxious it's totally natural to be after what you've experienced.

@Yukka how is baby Yukka and how are you? Hope motherhood is magical.

@InDreamland Don’t apologise. I don’t think you’re being negative. It is difficult for some of us to expect everything to go smoothly. I am reluctant to try to think too far ahead at this point too. I’m anxious but hoping for the best. Sorry for all the typo’s in my post too!

sadtoday21 · 05/08/2019 19:10

@Frillyfarmer I’m sorry you are feeling so anxious, it’s completely understandable as 11 weeks is a huge milestone. Are you doing anything to take your mind off it? I hope this week goes by quickly for you.

My next scan is the day before yours, this Friday afternoon when I should be nine weeks. Also terrified! I lost the last baby around the same time. Just trying to keep busy, but also deeply anxious about the scan.

rubyroot · 05/08/2019 19:11

@Justincase87 thanks for your message. Hope you're mental health is much improved now your bubs is here.
@sadtoday21 how's you? I'm anxious. Can't believe it's only a week since scan, seems like an age. I feel a bit nauseaus in the evenings, more so than I have previous pregnancies (successful and unsuccessful)

Haven't booked a second scan yet, it'll be private now that NHS have found a viable pregnancy. It's only 50 quid so I should get on with it really. I'm thinking for weds when by my dates I'll be 8 weeks 5

rubyroot · 05/08/2019 19:11
