Hello Ladies

Starting a new penguin huddle thread as the first one is getting very full. This is for those of us who've graduated from the conception boards.

Getting a BFP after pregnancy loss is not necessarily a happy time so this is a safe place to vent, worry and share news (good, hopefully, or bad).

I hope you are all here for the long-haul. But you are welcome no matter how briefly.
Others who are pregnant after loss but who weren't on the original thread are of course welcome too.

Let's start the roll call:

Me:
No living children, 3rd pregnancy, currently 8+3. Had early scan at 7 weeks that showed baby measuring right for 7w with a heartbeat. Got another early viability scan booked in for this Tuesday at 8+6. Really scared I've lost this one again.
2 previous pregnancies ended in mmc at 12+3 (baby stopped growing at 5 weeks) in July 2018 and mc (CP but hate that term) in November 2018. Before then had been TTC for 5 years so our journey has been 6 years since starting to TTC.

Hahaha @moonpeace! I've done the same to my due date too! Amended below!

Thanks @Bluebelltulip. I will definitely ask the midwife as the pain is still there. It's worse at night, did you find that with your SPD? Also, I think it's great you have bought a toy. I have one outfit and I look at it when I feel scared or down. It's something to hold on to.

@InDreamland every time I see a pregnant woman on the central line in the morning I wonder if it's you!! 😂

Welcome @CodlingMoth!

Great news on your scan @rubyroot!

How are you getting on @sadtoday21? I'm thinking of you xxx

Why can my sodding phone never seem to format properly?! Sorry for yet another bold fail!

sadtoday21 · 29/07/2019 16:40

Thanks very much for the support @rubyroot @Amanda81 @moonpeace @MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue! I really appreciated it.

Well the short of it is that we saw a hb and baby is measuring 7 weeks exactly and all in the right place. It took two tries and what felt like ages for the sonogrpaher to say that, so I burst into tears when she did! Still too early to rule out another molar and there aren’t any tests they can do, so all we can do is wait. Feeling happy for today and I’m sure the worry will kick back in tomorrow. Not sure how you ladies did these scans so many times - it’s beyond nervewracking! But that being said I’ll probably go back in another two weeks.

Hope everyone else is doing ok today! Xxx

InDreamland · 29/07/2019 16:42

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue haha likewise! Looks like we're both doing the same thing. I tend not to pin the badge to my clothes, usually on my bag or rucksack strap. Often I'm on my phone and look miserable lol.

@KnitKitty thank you. Glad you're feeling the high, long may it continue. TBH I'm still in denial and can't believe that this will result in my rainbow. I've had 6 years of disappointment, heartbreaking and grief so I'll probably not believe it until they go to school.

@Bluebelltulip @moonpeace he got a right earful from me yesterday. I really laid it on thick I was so mad. Men have no idea how shit this is. They get you pregnant and think that's their job done and can be so inconsiderate. Made him do all the housework yesterday as our cleaner is away for the summer and he got straight to it after what I said to him. Thankfully today physically I don't feel so awful, just the usual nausea and a bit shaky.

I'm just updating this with the correct year as noticed I'd put 2019 rather than 2020 doh! Updating moonpeace's too.

Forgot to add thanks also @Bluebelltulip, your message made me smile and helped me get through it. Hope you are well!

InDreamland · 29/07/2019 16:45

@rubyroot @sadtoday21 great news on your scans. Must be a relief. @rubyroot the sonographer at my scan on Saturday did say that this early on it's give or take 5 days and they can't be accurate until the 12 week scan so fx your little bean will "catch up" at your next scan.

I read this on the miscarriage association website. On one hand I find it reassuring but I still can't believe mine will work out this time.

@Frillyfarmer Sorry about the allergic reaction. I get a lot of allergic reactions with my eyes. Sitting with cucumber on my eyes for 15 minutes a couple of times a day usually really helps. It's a natural anti-inflammatory. Maybe worth a try?

@Laney79 Sorry your anxiety has been high hun. But happy birthday!

@InDreamland So sorry your DH was so insensitive. That really sucks. And I totally understand you not feeling like you can believe it yet after everything you've been through... But I am believing it for you and sooo happy on your behalf. Grin
Thank you so much for sharing that from Miscarriage Association. Even after a great dating scan and feeling on cloud 9; it still feels a relief and reassuring to read that.

@CodlingMoth Hi! Welcome and congrats on the pregnancy.

@rubyroot A heartbeat is a really good sign. I'm really hoping it's just doing the same thing as your little boy and the measurements will add up in a few weeks. There's a reason they don't do a dating scan this early; babies can grow at different rates. Sending you hugs xxx

@Bluebelltulip That's fab. I hope you keep hold of this feeling for a long while.

@sadtoday21 I'm so pleased that you saw a heartbeat and everything is where it should be and measuring right. Fingers crossed for continued good, healthy growth.

Hey everyone, I have taken out the gestations from the roll call as these are soon out of date. It's so great to see where everyone is with the EDD - so many winter babies. It's understandable if some of us don't feel quite ready to add to the list just yet, but when you are ready, please do add.

Amanda81 · 29/07/2019 19:16

Hey @sadtoday21 - so happy to hear that everything is on track. Great news. Do you need to go back in a week or so?

sadtoday21 · 29/07/2019 19:27

Thanks @InDreamland, hope you and DH are ok now and all is well. Are you getting harmony results soon?

@KnitKitty thanks very much for your kind words. You must be so relieved to have made it past the 12 week mark - are you waiting for 20 week scan now?

@Amanda81 It’s still not real yet, since I lost the last baby at 9+4, I’m afraid it’s way too soon to celebrate just yet. But she’s so cute! I never had a scan pic before and I put it on the bookshelf. Really hope she stays around because I am already in love and it’s so frightening! Must try not to get too attached. The sonographer said just come back at 12 weeks, but I’m definitely not doing that. I think I will schedule one tomorrow for around 9/10 weeks, but trying to decide if the 9 week mark will just freak me out too much. On the other hand, 10 weeks seems a bit too far away so we will see. How are you doing? Feeling any more movement lately? Hugs!

Ginmonkey84 · 29/07/2019 19:38

@sadtoday21 so glad your scan went well. It’s brilliant news! X

@rubyroot early scanning is notoriously difficult I’m sure you’ll see a big difference at your next one and everything has caught up x

I got the chance to get a sneaky scan today so of course I jumped at the chance, had called to see my friend and thought it would be a good chance to see their midwifery led unit as I had flowers to drop off for her 40th birthday. It was really quiet when I arrived and she asked if I wanted a little look and printed me a picture. Huge difference from last week. Trying not to get overly excited but I did today. It’s so hard when your thoughts and anxiety brings you straight back down to Earth with a bang x

rubyroot · 29/07/2019 19:45

Excellent news @sadtoday21 I was watching being scanned and I could see an empty sac. I was thinking that's an empty sac Shock luckily it didn't take him long to say he could see a yolk and a flutter of a heartbeat.

I read that @InDreamland so I now have an 80% chance of not miscarrying, which if I look at the positives is good. Deffo booking a scan fir a couple of weeks time which is worth the 50 quid it'll cost me.

sadtoday21 · 29/07/2019 20:07

@Ginmonkey84 beautiful scan! How many weeks are you now? I know what you mean about not wanting to get too excited but still feeling this weird mixture of extreme anxiety and extreme hope. I think we are similar in dates, looking at your scan!

@rubyroot how many weeks are you going to wait until the next scan? I try to take comfort from statistics like you mentioned, but it’s really hard when you’ve already been in 0.5% of bad luck in this baby roulette. I just try to remind myself it’s out of my control. Fx we can both make it to the next milestone now. Xxx

rubyroot · 29/07/2019 20:15

@sadtoday21 Two weeks when by my dates I will be 8 weeks 3 and then if I'm lucky enough to get that far I'll have harmony at ten weeks.

Yes it's a very anxious time indeed. Not much we can do but try and pre occupy our minds with stuff

tinatsarina · 29/07/2019 22:23

@Ginmonkey84 great scan photo.

Anyone else get nausea at night. I'm have it right now with hiccups and a headache :(

Ginmonkey84 · 29/07/2019 22:42

@sadtoday21 I’m 6+5 going by my ovulation date and that’s what baby is measuring at. I was pretty certain on that. But technically 7 weeks going by miscarriage and they seem to be using that for now. But hopefully the will keep it to my dating scan dates even though it’s only a couple of days, I want a home VBAC and two or three days could make a difference in being induced etc

rubyroot · 29/07/2019 22:42

@Ginmonkey84 nausea at night quite common. I dont know why they call it morning sickness!
I've had some really minor nausea recently just a slight sicky feeling, really not that noticeable, but it does tend to be at night. I'm not really one for sickness during pregnancy

rubyroot · 29/07/2019 22:44

Sorry meant @tinatsarina

Ginmonkey84 · 29/07/2019 22:45

@tinatsarina my nausea is always worse at night and I get it along with indigestion. Nearly at the point of being physically sick...... I know it’s coming in the next few days from afternoon it starts build then it floors me in the evening x

thecherryontop · 29/07/2019 22:47

Hi everyone, please can I join? So far I've been reading threads but have been nervous about actually joining any.... I should be 11+1 today, last year I had a MMC so am increasingly anxious about my upcoming scan on the 8th. I'm currently taking cyclogest twice a day and did have an early scan at 8+5 (the day after I found out I was pregnant). I had actually given up and was being tested for thyroid, had had spotting and 3 negative tests so was pretty shocked at the pregnancy. I've read down the chat about ladies having the Harmony test as age automatically feeds into the nuchal test results (I'm 38) so now I'm wondering if this would be a better route for me to go down... anyone else in this position? Wishing you all well X

rubyroot · 29/07/2019 23:04

@thecherryontop age is fed into the results, but does not always give high risk results. When I was 38 it came up with 1 in 7000 for me. I chose not to have the harmony. When I had just turned 40 and pregnant for the second time, my midwife said I should consider getting harmony. I never did, but had pretty clear and devastating results on My 13 week scan. It's personal choice, if your worried go for harmony, NHS test is only about 70 percent accurate

rubyroot · 29/07/2019 23:05

You're

thecherryontop · 29/07/2019 23:08

Thank you @rubyroot -there's so much to consider and think about at a time when I feel my judgement is already clouded by anxiety and nausea!
