The Graduates of TTC after pregnancy loss thread #2 "The Penguin Huddle " 🐧🐧🐧

Hello Ladies

Starting a new penguin huddle thread as the first one is getting very full. This is for those of us who've graduated from the conception boards.

Getting a BFP after pregnancy loss is not necessarily a happy time so this is a safe place to vent, worry and share news (good, hopefully, or bad).

I hope you are all here for the long-haul. But you are welcome no matter how briefly.
Others who are pregnant after loss but who weren't on the original thread are of course welcome too.

Let's start the roll call:

Me:
No living children, 3rd pregnancy, currently 8+3. Had early scan at 7 weeks that showed baby measuring right for 7w with a heartbeat. Got another early viability scan booked in for this Tuesday at 8+6. Really scared I've lost this one again.
2 previous pregnancies ended in mmc at 12+3 (baby stopped growing at 5 weeks) in July 2018 and mc (CP but hate that term) in November 2018. Before then had been TTC for 5 years so our journey has been 6 years since starting to TTC.

Pleased to hear your good news @Russkispy

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 24/07/2019 17:14

Good news @Russkispy!

Frillyfarmer · 24/07/2019 17:27

Great news @Russkispy - hoping that little bean sticks in there, it's good you've got advice from your fertility doc as well.

InDreamland · 24/07/2019 18:44

@Bluebelltulip sorry DD is unwell, hope she gets better soon. This heat really cannot be helping. I hope you have managed to get some rest and kept cool today.

@Newbie21 thank you for understanding the anxiety, it's just awful isn't it. I've had loads to drink today, like 3 litres! Insane but much needed to attempt to reduce chance of dehydration. Really worried though that I struggled so much getting home from tube station, I have a really steep uphill walk and lug my laptop and papers etc. around so super heavy and I felt awful when I got in. Had to just slump on the floor in my hallway for 25 mins before I could get up and start work again. Worried I've hurt baby putting my body under so much strain in 33° heat walking up steep hill. Convinced baby cannot have survived that.

@rubyroot thank you. I'm petrified of scan now. How are you feeling today?

@Russkispy good news on the scan. Fx that the next one all is well and you have a sticky bean in there. Hope you have no more bleeding.

How did public transport users find their commute today? Mine was simply torturous. So glad I'm working from home tomorrow. No way am I leaving the house tomorrow.

@Yukka how are you and how is baby Yukka doing? Hope you're all bonding well and enjoying your new family.

@InDreamland utter hell. I'm only in London about once a month (usually overnight) and is already cut to a day trip so I knew it was going to be long. Drove 20mins to the station to catch the 7.07 to KX, hour and a half into London and then sweaty northern line to Finsbury. I've just got home and I feel so dirty. I don't know how you contend with the tube every day, I'm always so glad to get back to my car on London days!

Tonight DS room is far too hot so I'm trying to do bedtime in our room with no black out blinds. When he's finally asleep I'm having a cold shower and sleeping in the cellar 😂🥶

InDreamland · 24/07/2019 22:48

@Frillyfarmer that sounds awful. You must be absolutely shattered. Hope you can sleep tonight.

It's so hot! Even with the fan!

I'm back guys was away for a while. I'm 9 weeks today and keep thinking at 9 weeks the last time I was having a scan because of bleeding and was told there was no heartbeat. No bleeding or anything this time so I can only hope everything's ok. Still no early scan so might just have to wait until my 12 week scan.

Newbie21 · 25/07/2019 00:29

@InDreamland I'm sure baby will be just fine with the hill walking, you in the other hand need to take it slow and easy. All the energy and goodness we have goes first to baby then to us. Obviously a v different situ but it might make you giggle - when I was 41weeks pregnant living Belsize Park in July I decided I would walk to oxford street, go shopping for some baby stuff (including a changing mat - not heavy but awkward) and walk back via primrose hill including walking up and over the hill. On my walk up - a police van doing a park patrol stopped me and asked if I wanted a lift home 😂 I said no I was fine which they accepted but then they kept doing loops round the park and followed me some of way home to check I was ok and didn't collapse 😂 I still didn't go into labour until week42!

tinatsarina · 25/07/2019 07:18

@Newbie21 I think I would have took the lift lol

This heat making it so hard to sleep and I'm finding it difficult enough as it is.

InDreamland · 25/07/2019 09:32

@tinatsarina lovely to hear from you! 9 weeks! You're strong and controlled not getting an early scan. Are you not going to at all or you're thinking of getting one before your 12 week one?

@Newbie21 I really hope you're right. I'll be so angry with myself if baby was affected by my stupid walk up steep hill carry 2 very heavy bags (rucksack and another bag) plus my handbag. Goodness you were brave doing that walk when you were full term! I'd have taken the lift ......although I'd have never done the walk in the first place. If this baby miraculously makes it to full term I will be doing my baby stuff shopping online and getting it all delivered. I do most of my shopping online including all my groceries. Makes life so much easier.

How did everyone sleep last night? I slept on top of all the covers, windows open and fan going, woke up at 4am and felt cold! I had to get under the covers! That is not normal surely? Had weirdest dream last night. Won't go into detail because it was seriously wacky. Hope everyone managed some sleep.

Today I'm wearing baggy short dress I normally wear on a beach holiday and I'm not leaving the house. Got DH to bring the fan downstairs into our coolest room in the house so I can hopefully keep at a decent temperature. Feel nauseous. Gotta force some food down.

@Russkispy congrats on your scan! That’s wonderful news.

@Indreamland I’ve been worrying about the same thing because I’ve been hiking and camping in this heat with a somewhat heavy bag. And I took a bath last night that was maybe a tad bit too hot so now worried 😧

I’m 7 weeks today and the scan is on Monday. I’ve been trying to put it out of my mind and stay off MN whilst on vacation, but now the worries are back in full force. What if there is no hb again??? I’m not sure how to go through this terrible experience again. I’m afraid my symptoms aren’t strong enough and are going away. Just a little naseau and boobs hurt a bit before, but today I feel absolutely fine. Does that mean something is wrong? Sorry for the rant, I’m just really worried now.

Hi @moonpeace I went from diarroeah to constipation duri g my successful pregnancy. I think it was second tri but I can't remember exactly when. I've heard of other women having the same...i looked it up at the time.

I don't know what causes it, but I guess if pooh is sat in your gut for a bit it might go soft after a while. That's certainly what happens with my 18 month old! He has constipation and then it all comes out in a mighty explosion!

But yes I went from constipation to quite loose diarroeah and had several episodes of this.

tinatsarina · 25/07/2019 10:18

@moonpeace I've had really bad constipation making me feel uncomfortable and then sore when I try to go no matter how much I try to up my fibre and water. Hoping some pure orange juice will help.

@InDreamland I don't know if I will get a scan might get my partner to phone the Dr on Friday so they can chase up the epu. But I'm trying not to fixate on it.

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 25/07/2019 11:08

Lovely to hear from you @tinatsarina! Can't believe you're nine weeks already!

@moonpeace could you be slightly dehydrated and that's what's causing the diarrhoea?

Sorry you're feeling anxious again @sadtoday21 and @moonpeace. I have no advice for combatting it except looking at that miscarriage reassurance site and booking scans! My next scan isn't until Thursday and my anxiety is also slowly creeping back in. I do have my 16 week app on Wednesday (I'll be 17+5) but I'm not sure if they listen for a heartbeat anymore. The gaps between appointments seem so long don't they? How people just wait and don't book extra scans etc is beyond me!

@Newbie21 your story made me laugh but also I think you're mad! I'm using pregnancy as an excuse to be lazy!

I'm under a fan and trying to work but it's super hot already. Tonight is going to be hideous and I'm also worried about keeping DD comfortable. Last night she slept in our bed as it was the coldest room and think she will be there again tonight! Usually I am quite chilled about her getting in our bed (I co slept until she was gone 18 months) and enjoy the cuddles but it was too hot with all of us!

Amanda81 · 25/07/2019 11:32

Hello everybody - I have been silent for a while as my anxiety was getting bad whilst looking at MN and being on holiday. So many bad stories out there that I couldn't help myself but read. I'm home now and am trying to catch up on the thread. Great to see good news and scans going well.

I think I may have felt movement whilst I was away and I appear to have developed a bit of a pregnancy belly...but can't help but think that it's all in my head and my body is playing tricks on me. I have a private scan this evening at 6pm and will do a proper update then.

I'm missing the pool and air conditioning in this heat! Hope everyone is doing okay xx

rubyroot · 25/07/2019 11:43

@sadtoday21 my boob pains come and go and seem to disappear in morn and come back at night. Sometimes mild and sometimes not. I think that's normal. I never have had nausea in any of my five pregnancies (that makes me sound like I have had a lot of kids- I haven't).

Hope your scan goes well. X

tinatsarina · 25/07/2019 12:31

I think I have a bit of a bump and I'm only nine weeks. Might be bloat though lol I did hear the more pregnancies you have the sooner you show but surely not this early

sadtoday21 · 25/07/2019 12:49

@tinatsarina I think I have a small bump too, but it’s probably just bloating haha! Seems to be more bloating sooner than last time, not sure whether that is normal? @moonpeace definitely also constipated but it has come and gone a bit, so hopefully yours will be back soon (weird sentence I realised as writing 😂).

@rubyroot good to know that it’s normal for boob pain to come and go. I’ve heard that, but starting to feel worried by lack of obvious symptoms - just not a good sign for me in the past. Thanks for your good wishes on my scan! How are you doing? Xxx

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue Sorry you are feeling anxious too. It does feel like way too long in between scans. Do you have another planned for after Thursday? Hope you can listen to the hb this week!

@Amanda81 that’s amazing that you felt movement, I’m so happy for you! Hope that everything goes well with your scan tonight, everything crossed for you! Xxx

InDreamland · 25/07/2019 13:31

It's hit 37° here!!! Phone app says feels like 40°.

I'm so glad I'm home.

InDreamland · 25/07/2019 13:48

@sadtoday21 wow hiking with a heavy backpack is brave. The nausea and achy boobs come and go - well mine does anyway, tends to be worse in morning then subsides usually. Fx for the scan on Monday!

@KnitKitty hope your scan goes well today.

@moonpeace sorry the anxiety has kicked in again, think it's hit a few of us this week. I've not had constipation in any of my pregnancies, definitely not this one either, have always had soft and sometimes loose stools which has worried me as constipation seems to be what you're supposed to get when pregnant but I just don't. Not even like I've been eating a particularly healthy diet the past month either as the only things I seem to be able to really eat are beige junk foods. Glad you saw a midwife today and feeling less worried now, I've never heard of a midwife walk in clinic, where do they do those?

@tinatsarina sounds like you have a healthy mindset there. I need to follow you but hmmm I'm such a worrier.

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue it is insanely hot outside. I can't believe my dad is actually outdoors enjoying it! He sent me a photo of him relaxing in his garden, I've told him off and said to get indoors but he won't. 3 in a bed will be hot. Is there a cooler room you can go into? Make sure curtains and windows are kept shut to keep the hot air and sun out. I'm so far ok indoors, sat in the room that doesn't get much sun and have the fan going which is keeping me relatively comfortable temperature wise. I do keep getting waves of nausea though. Trying to work out why. Think might be my poor diet at the moment.

@Amanda81 that's so cool you've felt movements! Fx for your scan!

Bluebelltulip · 25/07/2019 14:09

The walk to get DD from nursery was horrible, I am not going outside until at least the evening. DD is much better today. I'm trying my best to keep us cool, I normally cope quite well with heat but not while pregnant.

InDreamland · 25/07/2019 16:36

I think I've drank too much Ribena - 1.6 ltrs of it 🤢
