Hello,

Starting a new penguin huddle for those of us who've graduated from the conception boards.

As I said in the old TTC thread, getting a BFP after pregnancy loss is not necessarily a happy time so this is a safe place to vent, worry and share news (good, hopefully, or bad).

I hope you are all here for the long-haul. But you are welcome no matter how briefly.
Others who are pregnant after loss but who weren't on the original thread are of course welcome too.

My stats:
TTC since Dec 2017
Age: 31
TTC no.1
1 MMC and 3 early losses between 4-5 weeks (or, CPs, but I hate that term) all happened last year within the space of 10 months.
Currently 6+1 with 5th pregnancy

@InDreamland @moonpeace @Bluebelltulip @hayleyfx @Laney79 Please add others I may have forgotten!

So I caved and took a CB digital thus morning......was going to take tomorrow. What a relief .......2-3 weeks since conception is correct.

@KnitKitty @coconutlatte44 your scans are tomorrow, how are you feeling? Hope not too nervous or anxious.

I have zero symptoms! .............apart from farting about 5 times since I woke up 1 hour ago.

@rubyroot sorry your loss.

@Indreamland try to focus on the positive things (easier said than done I know).

@Newbie21 I have had thick creamy discharge in all three pregnancies.

Yukka · 13/06/2019 07:48

@Newbie21 the discharge is s good sign :) it’s notmsl and it made from the left over hormones that your body is making right now. Not everyone gets it early but most women will later down the line.

@InDreamland great need in the cb I hope this helps you relax a little. Have you thought anymore re when to contact midwife? When you fill out the form with your history they might offer you an early scan, you never know.

Bluebelltulip · 13/06/2019 07:48

rubyroot sorry for your loss, is what my previous post was supposed to say.

KnitKitty · 13/06/2019 07:51

@rubyroot I'm so sorry, I have no idea how I missed your post yesterday! Sending you big cuddles. With my 5 week losses I had a couple of days of spotting before the bleeding started. It just felt like a heavy period in my case. I don't usually cramp on my period but with the losses I had a bit of cramping (but nothing awful). How are you doing today?

Thank you for your support ladies.
I had acupuncture last night which has settled my nerves a little bit. I just have to get through today. Still not feeling very positive, but will see how tomorrow goes.

@coconutlatte44 Good luck with your scan tomorrow!

@Newbie21 I definitely had loads in my first pregnancy. Not in my second but it was an early loss and so far nothing at moment.

@Bluebelltulip I trying to focus on the positives but I'm really struggling to. All I keep thinking of is the 2 losses and DHs results.

@Yukka I still don't want to register with the midwife, still thinking I'll wait maybe another 2-3 weeks. I just don't want to get all my appointments booked in my diary and then when loss #3 happens I have these reminders in my diary.

@rubyroot I hope you're being well looked after at home x

@KnitKitty glad acupuncture helped a bit. Not long to go now, you can make it through and tomorrow will be amazing. Any chance of getting a photo to share? Sorry if that's crossing the line in asking.

InDreamland · 13/06/2019 08:22

When did everyone register with midwife after getting BFP following a loss(es)? Am I just being stupid?

Bluebelltulip · 13/06/2019 08:40

@InDreamland I'm being a hypocrite especially as I keep having nightmares about another stillbirth. You are understandably expecting a bad outcome based on your results but remember it is still possible for this pregnancy to proceed. Currently you have positive signs.

I don't know how it works where you are but is it possible to enquire about availability for booking in so you know how close you can leave it to book the appointment? Here the GP surgery would be able to tell me.

InDreamland · 13/06/2019 08:46

@Bluebelltulip here unfortunately the GP surgery is uninterested if you're pregnant. They just send you straight to midwife, pharmacy or EPU depending on the issue. So I'd have to call up the maternity unit to register with the midwife to find out about availability for booking in. Last year I had appointment pretty much bang on 8 weeks. Guess they can squeeze in if they need to as people cancel appointments because of losses.

Beaglemum93 · 13/06/2019 08:56

@InDreamland great news about the CB digital :)

@Knitkitty and @coconutlatte44 good luck for your scans tomorrow!

@Newbie21 I've had that. I thought it was an infection and had swabs done at the doctors and it was fine. Apparently it's normal.

Bluebelltulip · 13/06/2019 09:10

Ah I see @InDreamland, here you book midwife appointments at the GP reception and see the midwife at the surgery. It varies so much in different areas.

Kintan · 13/06/2019 09:36

Hi everyone, mind if I join in? I was on the TTC after miscarriage threads last year, but then took a long break from mumsnet.

Congratulations on the BFPs :)

I'm 8+3 and had a scan last week and everything looked ok so far, but I'm not relaxing yet! It took me 10 long months after my miscarriage to get pregnant again so I am trying not to get too excited.

@InDreamland I waited until I had the scan last week when I was 7+3 to book in with the midwives, as I couldn't bear having to cancel my 12 week scan if it was already booked and I had bad news.

It's such a nerve-wracking time and I hope everyone is holding up ok x

Dramaqueen14 · 13/06/2019 10:31

Hi ladies, sorry to hear your news rubyroot. Thinking of you.

This thread moves so fast. I had asked about increase in discharge. Glad to hear it all sounds normal.

My anxiety is really strong today. I’m 8 weeks today and feel like my symptoms have gone slightly. Boobs don’t feel as sore as they did and yesterday I had a weird cramp in my left leg for most of the day. I feel like I remember similar cramps before my mc which was 8 + 5 though didn’t get picked up until in the 11th week. Just feels like a very scary time! I can’t stop thinking about it. dh and I go on holiday to Majorca next Thursday for a week and feel it will all I will be thinking about. Worried I will have a mc!

Sorry for my rant, it’s just so hard isn’t it, pregnancy after loss. I think people only get it if they have been through it themselves! Xx

rubyroot · 13/06/2019 11:12

@InDreamland have you thought about getting a scan for around 7 weeks and if all okay then contact midwife. That’s what I did with my second pregnancy which was my only successful one. Nhs should give you one I think if you ring and tell them your past experiences x

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 13/06/2019 11:28

Hello everyone. I hoped over to the old thread but then saw this one had been set up for those who had gotten pregnant.

I am not sure if anyone remembers me - I joined in February after having an ectopic. I also had a MMC last summer. I got a BFP at the end of April so I wasn’t around for long, even though everyone was super supportive. I pretty much vanished after the scan I had which found this pregnancy wasn’t ectopic. I have found it really hard after this BFP and have really struggled - I have pretty much ignored this pregnancy until now and I didn’t want to be around any talk of conceiving, or loss or anything that would remind me, hence why I avoided the thread.

I am still feeling incredibly anxious and far from ‘happy’ but I had a private scan today which put me four days ahead of what I thought, currently 10+4. This is now further than I got last year and I got to see a real baby wriggling around, so I am trying to be more hopefully.

I have also just had the Harmony blood test done. I am so aware of all the things that could go wrong this time around and so much seems to be at stake the longer this pregnancy continues, that I thought it was worth the money. Even if something is wrong I will find out quicker than the NHS screening and so it won’t drag out. Get results in ten days.

Currently veering between hugely nauseous and panicking over feeling nothing at all.

So I hope I can rejoin you all. It’s a weird place being pregnant after loss and the trauma that brings and nothing seems to be as straightforward or joyful. I would love to be able to share this journey with people who understand, I don’t feel I fit in on the other boards with my worries and negativity.

@indreamland I am so delighted to see you here and am keeping all crossed for you!

@moonpeace It’s also lovely to see you here, I remember you being so understanding of how I felt struggling and wanting DC2 so badly xxx

@Bluebelltulip great to see you here too!

I’m rooting for us all xxx

Bluebelltulip · 13/06/2019 11:57

Hi @MyIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue , great to see you here.

InDreamland · 13/06/2019 12:26

Thanks @Kintan good to get an idea of what others have done. Nice to see you here.

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue hello! Lovely to see you here. Great we can all support each other here as I think unless you have had a loss the ladies on the other threads won't understand the anxieties we have. Glad to hear your pregnancy is progressing well.

@rubyroot my DH mentioned getting an early scan last night. I'm not sure how I feel about it. How are you? Hope you're being looked after at home.

Does anyone feel wet down there even though there is nothing and also feel like they're wearing an ill fitting/poorly inserted tampon?

Kintan · 13/06/2019 12:50

Does anyone feel wet down there even though there is nothing

@InDreamland Yes!! I am constantly knicker checking 🤦🏻‍♀️ I would really recommend an early scan too - at least then you can put your mind at ease that it is not ectopic etc x

Laney79 · 13/06/2019 12:51

Just looking for a bit of reassurance...I'm 9+6 today...on holiday in Crete. Saw a heartbeat, bub measuring 14mm and good yolk sac at 7+5 and have a scan next weds at 10+5 when we get back off hols.

But I'm freaking out a bit...most of the (minimal) symptoms I was having (pulling/crampy sensations, slight nausea first thing) have gone. My boobs are still big and I still get burpy of an afternoon but I'm feeling Les and less pregnant if you know what I mean? I know things change as the placenta takes over but I'm petrified it's another mmc. I've had no pain and no bleeding to suggest anything is up...anyone else experience sudden loss of symptoms like this at 9+ weeks? Been like this for about 5 days now...trying to stay positive but finding it really hard! X

Bluebelltulip · 13/06/2019 13:46

@Laney79 you are at the point where symptoms wear off with most people so try not to worry too much, completely understandable that you are worried though. Pregnancy after loss is a minefield of worry.

Dramaqueen14 · 13/06/2019 13:57

Laney I totally get you. I’m feel similar though a bit behind you at 8 weeks. I just phoned my Epu as I’ve been freaking out about not feeling pregnant at the moment. She said symptoms do come and go. I know it’s easy to say not to worry and i wish I could do that myself.

How have you found being on hol? I have you have managed to relax. We go away next week at 9 weeks. I’m hoping it will allow my brain to chill out a bit. X

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 13/06/2019 14:05

Hi @Laney79. Another one who echoes that symptoms come and go. I have also found that certain things better my nausea, so if I do exercise or have a more active day I feel less sick, if I eat lots of fruit (even though I don't feel like it!) I feel better. When my symptoms vanish they tend to come back a few days later with a vengeance. Also I had hardly any symptoms with my DD (who is now 2.5!) and the little things I did have had all gone by 10 weeks so please try not to worry xxx

Laney79 · 13/06/2019 14:27

Thanks ladies. I was doing pretty well after that first scan, such a shock to finally get good news after two losses...but as time has gone on the anxiety ramps up and the symptoms (that weren't strong to begin with) going it makes it worse.

@Dramaqueen14 holiday has been good-I've been here 6 days and have read five books! It has given me more time to think about what is or isn't happening but by the same token I am managing to relax and I'm doing all I can to remember no pain no bleeding = good. It's also good just to spend time with OH - I'm just hoping that the relaxation and everything is helping our little one grow. 10 weeks tomorrow. No real sign of a bump (although I've tried to convince myself there is-it's much more likely to be an "all inclusive" bump) and that's not surprising as I have a retroverted uterus and both previous pregnancies haven't developed past 6 weeks.

I just wish there was a way to check everything was ok in there more often! Thanks again xxx

niamhzs · 13/06/2019 14:55

Getting pains in my stomach now😞.

rubyroot · 13/06/2019 15:44

@niamhzs hope you’re alright x
