The Graduates of TTC after pregnancy loss thread

Hello,

Starting a new penguin huddle for those of us who've graduated from the conception boards.

As I said in the old TTC thread, getting a BFP after pregnancy loss is not necessarily a happy time so this is a safe place to vent, worry and share news (good, hopefully, or bad).

I hope you are all here for the long-haul. But you are welcome no matter how briefly.
Others who are pregnant after loss but who weren't on the original thread are of course welcome too.

My stats:
TTC since Dec 2017
Age: 31
TTC no.1
1 MMC and 3 early losses between 4-5 weeks (or, CPs, but I hate that term) all happened last year within the space of 10 months.
Currently 6+1 with 5th pregnancy

@InDreamland @moonpeace @Bluebelltulip @hayleyfx @Laney79 Please add others I may have forgotten!

@Siswishes It's definitely possible, unfortunately. I had surgical management like yourself, and still had positive tests nearly 2 months on. Unfortunately I had to contact the EPU and have a scan, as I had the smallest bit of 'retained product' floating around. Thankfully a couple of weeks later my body kicked started itself and AF got rid of it which put my tests to negative. But definitely contact your GP. You might need to do one of their tests but they'll point you in the right direction.

Hi ladies I dropped off the thread a bit, I went on hol for a week to Majorca and really didn’t enjoy myself as much as I should as I was doing constant knicker check the whole time. Thankfully everything is fine as I had a scan on Friday which dates me at 10 + 6 (5 days further than I thought) and baby was bouncing around. Was very emotional. I have my dating scan on 15 July. My stats are:

Dramaqueen14: age 33. Miscarriage at 8 + 5 though didn’t get picked up until 11 weeks in September last year. Currently around 11 + 2.
@myheartisbrokebutihavesomeglue 36, DD 2.5 born Nov 2016. 1 MMC at 10 weeks - July 2018. Ectopic and left tube removal at 8 weeks - Feb 2019. Currently 13+2 and another scan tomorrow. Bricking it.

The anxiety I have been feeling is getting a bit better but feel the overall tiredness is ramping up. Hope everyone is well x

Bluebelltulip · 01/07/2019 18:58

I'm having a really hard day today, it feels like a wave of grief has hit me and I miss my daughter so much, I wish I could cuddle her again. I'm also really scared that I'll loose this baby too. I've been on the edge of tears all day today and have cried a few times too. Being sick again this morning probably hasn't helped.

KnitKitty · 01/07/2019 18:59

@Newbie21 Great news about the scan! Yey! Sorry you couldn't get a photo though. They gave me my first one for free, but I had to pay £5 (!!!) for my second one. Not long until your next scan though, and you should get one then! Smile

@FrillyFarmer I felt the same as you when I read the thread: If I miscarry this one I don't think I can go back on the other thread now. I was on the thread for a year and loved hearing stories from those who had 'made it' because it gave me hope... I don't actually think I'd have coped as well without some of the RMC ladies dropping back in now and then. Sorry if it made you feel crap. Hugs xx
Ahh, the pregnancy hang-over... it's crap but good at the same time because you feel like you should feel crap... Wink You won't feel like that every day. Make sure you're getting enough rest and enough fluids.

@FirstTimeMama91 I'm so sorry you're feeling crap lovely. I'm glad you have a scan booked in for tomorrow. Stay strong. I would ask them about the possibility of progesterone if the scan is looking good. www.tommys.org/our-organisation/research-by-cause/miscarriage/research-by-cause/miscarriage-trials

@Yukka It's good that you've spotted the veins if it's something you've been told to look out for. I know you're high risk, but the good thing is you're under specialist care and they are really clued up on the condition you have so hopefully they can avoid anything bad happening because of that. It must feel a bit scary stopping the aspirin, but everything is moving in the right direction! Not long to go now!!

@Beaglemum91 I'm off to France at the end of next week and I'm already a bit worried about the food situation!
I'm glad you got checked at A&E and that there was nothing to worry about. Don't feel bad about 'wasting' their time/resources... It's ALWAYS better to err on the side of caution when pregnant, and it gave you peace of mind for your holiday!
Definitely ask for a chair at work. They should comply as it's a reasonable adjustment.

@Siswishes Hi. Sorry for your loss. If you haven't had a period since the negative ICs then I would continue using ICs as your testing method until you get a strong positive or period arrives. The FRER are so sensitive they could be picking up left over HCG (although I hope it's a new pregnancy). It's still possible to ovulate with some HCG in your system. I hated all the testing and mind-games after surgical management when I had it. All you can really do is wait it out a bit longer, unfortunately (or as others have suggested, get bloods done by GP). But I hope things become clearer for you soon. And I hope you're doing OK emotionally. It's still early days so don't be surprised if you get sudden surges of sadness like waves crashing over you. They get further and further apart, but you just have to ride them like you're surfing.

@Dramaqueen14 Sorry you didn't enjoy your holiday as much as you would have liked, but hopefully you had lots of rest and vitamin D.

My midwife appointment went really well today.
The lady was lovely and very reassuring. We spoke a bit about how my anxiety had been really bad at the beginning of the pregnancy, but that I'd calmed down a lot. She said to absolutely bother them with anything like that because even if they can't do anything about the anxiety it can help to talk it through with someone. She was really supportive.
She's booked me in for my dating scan which is on 25th July (I'll be 12+5 from LMP, although 13 according to scans I've already had which is the date she was working from) .
I'll be seen by a specialist because of having been under RMC and recommendations from the gynae I saw for that (i.e getting cervix length checked as I had surgery on my womb several years ago).
Feeling really good emotionally today.
I got busted by a colleague at work... She heard me throwing up and whispered "are you alright?" "are you pregnant?" It's actually her last week at work this week (boo!) so I'm quite pleased she knows. She's really lovely, and I know she won't blab. I told her about the miscarriages too and she was lovely.

@Bluebelltulip Huge squishy hugs. Just ride the wave, hug a pillow (if there's no person to hug), tell her everything you're feeling and that you miss her and let yourself have a sob.

Ooh roll call......

@InDreamland age 39, 5 years TTC before first BFP, 1 MMC in July 2018, 1 mc (CP but I hate that term) in November 2018. On 3rd pregnancy now am 6+5. All my tests clear (couple of fibroids but said small and location not concerning) but DH sperm DNA fragmentation results show 60% damaged and advised further mc's highly likely. He's on 3 supplements and will start clinical trials in autumn. Have private viability scan on Wednesday evening when will be 7 weeks if we make it that far ....... anxiety through roof on 24 hour knicker watch.
@Amanda8138, 1 MMC,1MC, no diagnosed issues, currently 14+3, probably get a scan when I return from holiday when I will be 18 weeks

InDreamland · 01/07/2019 19:11

Sorry cross posted with@KnitKitty.

InDreamland · 01/07/2019 19:13

About this ligament pain, I thought I'd be too early on for it at the moment. Not even 7w yet.

Newbie21 · 01/07/2019 19:15

@Bluebelltulip and @FirstTimeMama91 sorry you are both feeling down. Virtual hugs to you both.

@KnitKitty glad you had a good midwife appointment and that you got to share your news with your colleague. I think I will have to tell one of the guys I work with on Friday as we have a work event which he is hoping is going to be boozy and is relying on me being on board with that... which clearly I won't be!! He wouldn't tell anyone and he's a lovely guy so all the more wine for him I think!

So I am meant to have an RMC appointment next Monday where I am due to have a scan. Obviously I need to cancel it, I was waiting for today's scan before I did but I am worried that something will go wrong and then I'll have to restart the RMC referral process again which took months. Do you think they will keep me logged so I can re-book the appointment if need be? It was to be my first RMC appointment.

InDreamland · 01/07/2019 19:21

@tinatsarina yep we're exactly 1 week apart, I'm 7w on Wednesday if I get that far. Anything can happen in the next 48 hours 😕

@FirstTimeMama91 I was told baby asprin can't hurt and was advised to take it from BFP ..... until my blood cane back and didn't have clotting issue so told no point in me taking it now. Sending you a massive hug. I remember that feeling from both mc's well. Keeping fx for you tomorrow x

@Bluebelltulip fx your scan Friday will be all healthy.

@Siswishes sorry you're going through this. Can you call your GP to get checked out and put your mind at ease? Would be fantastic if it is a new pregnancy.

KnitKitty · 01/07/2019 19:21

@Newbie21 I would ring and ask them for advice about cancelling it and explain the situation.

Oh @FirstTimeMama91 ❤ Really hope everything is okay but of course that's easier said. Let us know if you'd like and if you need to keep chatting on here, post away lovely!

@KnitKitty I've just read it and just wow. I of course remember you from there and I remember posting on there every so often during my pregnancy, and I think even did so when she was early and in NICU. Everyone was just so nice and I'm so baffled as to what the thread's turned into. There was never really an issue with posting in early pregnancy, others asked after others 💁

InDreamland · 01/07/2019 19:39

@Frillyfarmer a holiday will be so lovely and much deserved. Where are you off to?

@Dramaqueen14 sorry your holiday was not as good as it should have been, totally understand the 24 hour knicker watch. Glad you had a good scan, hopefully that does help with the anxiety.

@Beaglemum93 that food situation sounds really tricky. Good you got checked out at A&E, you can't be too careful plus it's good for your anxiety levels to be checked and given the okay.

@Yukka good you've spotted the veins, with the smallest care you're recieving I'm confident yoy will be very well looked after so nothing bad happens.

@KnitKitty glad your appointment went well. Sounds like you'll be getting good support from the professionals throughout this pregnancy. Your colleague sounds so lovely. I have a good feeling about this one for you and you'll be holding your rainbow after a healthy pregnancy.

@Newbie21 I'd contact them like @KnitKitty said and explain the situation and ask what your options are. Say you'd like to remain in the system just in case?

InDreamland · 01/07/2019 19:43

@FirstTimeMama91 just seen your latest post. So so sorry you're going through this. It's just awful. Still keeping my fx for tomorrow. Sending you lots of hugs and a massive hand hold Flowers

Yukka · 01/07/2019 19:43

@InDreamland well we shouldn't rule anything else out but I've had ligament from probably 5w consistently. I think the textbooks tell you it's a later thing but midwife wasn't concerned for me. So long as it feels muscular or ache or even like nerve pain then it's likely that's it. You can mention at your scan on Wednesday?

@Newbie21 yeah I'd just phone them and explain - as you've been referred so you'll stay on their hospital records anyway.

@FirstTimeMama91 really sorry your experiencing this. See what they say tomo. There are lots of conflicting views about Aspirin but it takes s few weeks to have s effect I believe so starting now wouldn't help. Keep us posted tomo xx

@Bluebelltulip hugs xx I can't begin to imagine how you feel, just know we're here if you need to vent. Life is so shit sometimes and your dealing with grief as well as the worry of pregnancy. Stay strong xx

@KnitKitty Really pleased the appointment went well :) most midwives are lovely and just want to help so do take them up on the offer if you feel overly anxious. I'm feeling ok now and the veins have gone down since being moving all day, I don't think it's a big deal.

FirstTimeMama91 · 01/07/2019 19:45

Thanks @UnicornsandRainbows1 and @InDreamland I took 2 paracetamol and just gonna rest up the rest of this evening. Will let you know how tomorrow goes xxx

MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue · 01/07/2019 19:46

@Bluebelltulip you've been on one hell of a journey and everything must still be so raw. Take the time you need, cry, then relax and treat yourself however you need to. You're allowed to still grieve - even though your pregnant again nothing will ever replace your daughter. But at the same time this is a whole new pregnancy and it the odds are in your favour. For what it is worth I think your strength is amazing xxx

@FirstTimeMama91 sorry to read your update. I've been thinking of you today. What time is your appointment tomorrow? I will keep you in my thoughts and keep positive for you. Look after yourself tonight lovely xxx

FirstTimeMama91 · 01/07/2019 19:49

@MyHeartIsBrokeButIHaveSomeGlue thanks Hun it's at 12.50. I'll got early and hopefully be seen early. Talk to you all tomorrow xx
