@sh13 I'm not too sure actually, perhaps if you contact the PALS department of the hospital they might be able to advise.

cja06 · 05/06/2019 06:26

Hi ladies,

I'm joining in on this thread as pretty much all the ladies on my thread have had their babies now.

I'm currently 12 days overdue. I've been 5cm dilated for at least a week but baby doesn't seem to want to make an appearance.

Went for my induction yesterday excited and expecting to be leaving with a baby but it didn't happen. Was there all day and all they did was monitor me, monitor baby, give me another sweep and send me on my way.

They said labour ward is busy so won't do anything else to help kickstart my labour. I now have to sit and wait to be called back in which could be hours or days.

I've been super positive and relaxed so far but must admit I'm feeling really deflated and upset this morning. Feels like it's never gonna happen.

RC000 · 05/06/2019 06:42

Oh @cja06 that is awful! Surely they can't leave you much longer? Is another hospital another option? I am 4 days over and going mad so you are a hero!

Second sweep today. Hoping cervix has become more favourable but not holding out much hope!

cja06 · 05/06/2019 09:05

Good luck for your second sweep today @RC000 - hopefully it will be just what you need to get things moving.

I called the labour ward this morning for an update and they told me that although I've been waiting the longest, I'm still low priority so probably won't be called in today either.

Slicedpineapple · 05/06/2019 09:22

Oh no cja hopefully they can see you soon, or better still, baby thinks about making a move soon!

Good luck for your second sweep RJ

OP glad baby is being good for you in hospital and that you are recovering ok!

I've had period type cramps for 24 hours and starting to feel a bit sick so I'm hoping that this might mean things aren't far off...I am 38 weeks + 2 days today. Baby was 4/5 engaged at 36 weeks so imagine will be further down now.

Slicedpineapple · 05/06/2019 09:24

Sorry meant RC!

Also apologies if my messages aren't posting with any spacing at all. I'm using the app, going to go back to using the web!

RC000 · 05/06/2019 20:53

How is everyone?

@cja06 fingers crossed for tomorrow? Hope you are coping ok. Awful!

@slicedpineapple any more progress?

I had second sweep... only a little bit of progression from first one annoyingly. Another one in two days then induction at 40+12. With an enormous baby. Sigh. Just DTD out of desperation!

fee1234 · 05/06/2019 23:34

I had a MW appointment today, booked in for induction next Friday at 41+4 if nothing happens before then. She examined me and my cervix is getting there, but no dilation yet. Could still be a while!

Newtoallofthis2019 · 06/06/2019 00:17

Hi ladies! Joining this thread as I’m 39 weeks today with my first and hoping I don’t need to wait much longer...I’ve been feeling a bit crampy & sure I lost mucus plug on Monday (husband was all excited and was convinced baby would be here that day...) trying to sleep now but so hard to get comfy....any tips anyone Grin

Slicedpineapple · 06/06/2019 07:47

RC

Sadly no progress. More cramping on and off but that's it. I have a mw appointment today and hoping she will offer me a sweep.

Hoping your little on makes an appearance soon. I know a few people that have had some luck after sweep number 2, so fingers crossed for you!

Newtoallofthis I wish I could offer sleeping tips but at this point I am awake all night feeling like my back is going to break! Pillows, pillows and more pillows?

Moonriver83 · 06/06/2019 10:31

@sh13 what a traumatic experience for you so sorry to hear this as I too feel induction is an uncertain process- our little boy was born yesterday 3.38 am at 9 lbs13!! So they were right he is big at 39 weeks 5. I also went for epidural and had no experience of long labour or pain relief options because had two lovely births previously but it really helps and just gives you time to rest and focus. It'll pass... I kept thinking of how I couldn't wait to meet him :) keep calm and remember it doesn't last... the midwives are amazing and will talk you through :) can't wait to hear more baby news soon xx

LivingOnAPear · 06/06/2019 21:18

Congratulations @moonriver83

@newtoallofthis2019 I’m barely sleeping either. Sooo annoying isn’t it. If I’m awake again tonight I’m just going to get up and get things done.

I’m getting lots of cramps and back aches now. My due date is tomorrow. My Midwife wouldn’t do sweep on Monday as baby only just starting to move down and is still back to back.
I went for a long swim today in a hotel pool as apparently breaststroke can help the baby get in right position. I did lots of exercises in the water too and felt lots of movement from the baby and cramps since then. So I hope it’s done something. It was very relaxing anyway, I haven’t felt this chilled out in a while. Also scrubbed the kitchen floor in an attempt to turn and engage the baby and I’m taking raspberry leaf tablets and evening primrose.

RC000 · 07/06/2019 06:42

Huge congratulations @moonriver83 wonderful news!

Still pregnant here Hmm despite getting excited yesterday as lost loads more of plug. 3rd sweep today. Resigning myself to induction next week and an emcs for big baby?!

How is everyone else?

Any more cramps @livingonapear or @slicedpineapple? I am getting less than last week which is ridiculous!

@newtoallofthis2019 no tips but you will get a few hours here and there so try not to worry too much.

LivingOnAPear · 07/06/2019 07:10

@rc000 losing plug has to be a good sign. Hope it goes well today.
I’m now actually getting fewer cramps than 2 weeks ago when it was so painful I used the TENs and was convinced that things were happening. But it seems that lots of people don’t have anything until labour actually starts. The not knowing when it’s going to happen is the worst bit.

LivingOnAPear · 07/06/2019 07:20

@sh13 Just read back thro thread and saw what happened. I hope you are ok. You definitely deserve lots of pampering when you get home if not home already. A similar thing happened to my friend and she was a bit traumatised but spoke to ‘birth stories’ at her hosp a few months later to go through details of what happened. It’s so confusing at the time and doesn’t help that they then take your notes away.

@cja06 hope you are ok and that you’ve had your baby whilst waiting to be induced. Horrible that they keep you waiting once you’ve psyched yourself up.

Slicedpineapple · 07/06/2019 09:29

RC Aaahh hopefully third time lucky, come out little baby!!
Cramping has eased off since yesterday, despite a very hot curry and 2 cups of raspberry leaf tea. Not sure baby was impressed by the curry, lots and lots of wiggling!

Mw told me the cramping is just baby positioning herself getting ready for exiting. I am booked in for a sweep the day before my due date if I don't have her before then. I do think the waiting and not knowing is the hardest part now.

fee1234 · 07/06/2019 12:58

So I've had two nights of false labour with contractions 10 mins apart for 6 hours, but they stop by the morning! So frustrating, MW said it's common and could happen again tonight. Induction booked for a week today if nothing happens by then.

40+4 and feeling soo fed up

MadeInCornwallx3 · 07/06/2019 16:23

Hi All!

Baby girl born on 5/6 at 39+5 weighing 8lb 9.

Had the water birth I wanted so very happy.

We came home after a few hours and are now busy getting used to being a family of five.

Congrats @Moonriver83 - I see you had your baby on the same day!

Slicedpineapple · 07/06/2019 16:25

Yay congrats!!

RC000 · 07/06/2019 18:15

Huge congratulations @madeincornwallx3 lovely news!

@fee123 that is utterly exhausting.

3rd sweep, 2cm dilated. Induction booked for thursday next week. Sigh!

Napssavelives · 08/06/2019 02:17

39+1, bloody fed up. This is baby number 3, I’m on my own with my 2 other kids and so done. Can’t sleep, grumpy and emotional. Please come out baby

Newtoallofthis2019 · 08/06/2019 04:11

Hi all! After posting on Thursday morning for the first time in here I went into labour and had a girl - she was 6lb 2oz (after being told my bump was in 95th percentile for size!) laboured at home as long as I could and was pretty much 10cm when I got to the hospital at 10pm and she was out at 11.51pm! Intense but amazing!! Currently trying to breast feed...how is everyone else? Congrats to the other new mums and hopefully everyone else doesn’t have long to wait!! Xx

LivingOnAPear · 08/06/2019 04:49

Congratulations @madeincornwallx3 sounds like a great birth and I hope all going well at home.

Congrats @newtoallofthis2019 I’m jealous of how quick your labour was. Hope you are getting some sleep.

Moonriver83 · 08/06/2019 05:01

Hurrah congratulations @madeincornwallx3! Yes some birthday! Oh your labour sounds great and so pleased all went well and you’re home -hope everyone else doing okay...so close now! X

RC000 · 08/06/2019 07:09

Wow congratulations @newtoallofthis2019 i am jealous! Hope you sprinkled some labour vibes our way! Your birth sounds amazing.

@napssavelives moan away! I can't believe I am 41 weeks when my dc1 was on time!
