38 weeks anyone else?

Is anyone else around same week as me and how are you feeling ?! x

I had my baby girl 29/05 at 10.46 am
I am exhausted, I barely slept last night then had loads of visitors, she's now had me awake all evening so far cluster feeding, everytime she goes in her cot she starts screaming on the ward so I feel awkward and have to get her out, I'm scared I'm going to fall asleep with her in my arms 😢 she's beautiful but omg she has a large pair of lungs. So my contractions did stop tues morning, still felt off all day an then I had worse contractions last night for three hours which were 10 mins apart , had to breathe through them an get on all fours ...only for them to die down again. Really struggling to cope now it’s exhausting me and so disheartening , does anyone know what I can do ? Would they examine me at hosp or just tell me to get on with it

@sh13 well my cramping completely stopped last night and I had nothing! I have a growth scan today. I fear my stop starts aren't coming to anything at all but yours sound stronger. I have read that they are all doing something and preparing your body. Often I think actual labour is then much shorter. When do you next see your midwife? Sending it is tough. How many weeks are you?

@sh13 If you search for prodromal labour there are quite a few people who have had a similar experience. Like RC000 said it is supposed to help prepare your body and shorten the actual labour. I had this stop start for a while with my DD and she was back to back, then I had a long latent phase where the contractions were regular but I stayed at 3 cm. Im getting it a bit this time but not as bad as you by the sound of it and this baby is back to back too. Are you using a TENS machine, hot water bottle, having a bath? Do you know if the baby is back to back as there are various positions that are supposed to help. Might be worth phoning midwife or triage and finding out if they have any advice.

No further news here other than I think I may have lost my plug this morning. Still waiting for anything concrete to start - it's so frustrating!!

@sh13 Is this your first? I had a lot of start stop with my son before it really got going, but once it did it didn't stop! If you contract regularly again there is no harm in getting checked though.

I’ve just scrubbed the kitchen floor in an attempt to turn and engage the baby. Going to have very clean floors at this rate.

I had scan today and baby currently 9lb which has scared me. They don't do anything if big we just have to mention it in labour?! PLEASE i can't go too far over if baby is already 9lb

@LivingOnAPear I swear it's just another sign designed to give me false hope haha. Nothing since this morning.

This cycle of hope then disappoint when nothing happens is horrible 😔

Cleaning the floors is meant to be a really good way to turn them - plus, clean floors! Bonus!!

@RC000 that sounds a lot but remember the scans are notoriously inaccurate so try not to focus on it too much. Baby could be closer to 8 which isn't too bad. FWIW I'm expecting something in that region too - my first was 8'5 and second 8'10 so reckon on that pattern looking at 9lb!

Thanks @MadeInCornwallx3 I hope you are right although have had a lot of growth scans this pregnancy and they are all predictinf big so i need to prep myself! DC1 8lb6oz so not huge. Fingers crossed for you too! After a good week of BH and cramps nothing again today so I need to get over this! Babe is clearly too comfy. Sigh.

Aww @RC000 I am also in the big baby bait and it’s odd because my first was tiny 5lbs and second 7lbs and now this!!! Last week the midwife said ‘no explanation,probably just been eating more biscuits..!’ (Which is true...) I hear mixed messages-some people say bigger needs more help and some say bigger can also be as quick? And I think @livingonapear is right-it is just an estimate. Won’t they induce you early? X

@RC000 She should do hopefully! I had one at 38+4 with another at 39+3 if no movement.

Quite a few cramps tonight but pretty random. When will it happen?!!!!

That’s good on the sweep we don’t get them here till 41 weeks how are you feeling ?
I saw my midwife today too I’m 39+2, she said I’m fully engaged now and sounds like latent labour that can go on for over a week and it’s all normal, she wouldn’t do an internal exam though. She also said doesn’t think il make it to 41 weeks so I hope she’s right 🤷🏻‍♀️ nearly burst into tears in there, hormones, lack of sleep & pain not a good combo.

I had a good old google thank you ! is it the same as latent Labor though or does it start before this ? My midwife did try to encourage me and say she thinks il have a shorter active labour.
Babies not back to back I’ve heard that can be excruciating, how long were you in latent labour ?

I’m having lots of baths and all fours rocking on the birth ball seems to help . Haven’t got a tens unfortunately.

@sh13 latent labour is when you are dilating but before you get to 4 cm I believe. I had this for a couple of days with my first but heard it can drag out longer.
Sounds like it’s all happening for you tho and at least the baby is engaged.

I'm 39+4 now and still nothing 😩 my next midwife appointment is on Wednesday when I'll be 40+2, going to beg for a sweep then but they don't usually do them here until 41 weeks.

Happy due date to me! No overnight baby here!

@RC000 I'm definitely more crampy than normal tonight - it's probably the clary sage which has made me feel a bit light headed and sick more than anything 😂

Yes sending vibes to everyone..I’m heading in to be induced tomorrow and I find it hard to admit out loud as trying to think positive but I’m actually really scared now! Somehow not knowing when or where it will start seems better for me..like I’ll just get on and deal with it but all this waiting for the big day has just caused even more stress!! Come on-we can do this!! Body knows what to do...feel like mind gone blank with all breathing techniques..! sure something will come back. Good luck over night and for next few days everyone x
