@purplefig NCT classes have been great. You can read all this stuff on the Internet but when you have someone with experience of going through it and can ask further questions it really helps. Plus all the couples in the group have been lovely to talk to. It's alot of money but I think it's been worthwhile, at least for DP who's not just hearing things from me.

MrsC87 · 26/06/2019 17:00

@RanchoRelaxo started to feel nervous about it! However today I have had a dull ache in my lower tummy and been on the toilet lots! Not sure if it's a sign of anything. I'd love to get to my sweep on Monday and already be dilated!
I think birth altogether is scary first time as we don't know what to expect, just got to try and relax and keep calm. How about you?

LindyMoe · 26/06/2019 18:39

Hi everyone, hoping I can join. Recognise @purplefig!

Found out last week and the doctor says im due 1st March.
As I'm only 5 weeks could anyone tell me if they're experiencing any ovary pain or cramping? Slightly worried, especially after my run today!

purplefig · 26/06/2019 21:04

@MrsC87 I've heard of the positive birth company - I'd like to do her online course closer to the time. How are you finding it? I've seen a few of her youtube videos and I do really like her, seems to all make a lot of sense.

@MrsC87 Ahhh I see - I am still so clueless about everything so thanks for sharing! All the best for it - I wonder if some of the hypnobirthing techniques from the likes of the positive birth company would be useful for an induction?

@Delilah7 how're you getting on today lovely?

@RanchoRelaxo So weird isn't it? Coffee tastes like cigarette ash to me now!

@Fivebyfive2 oh man!! Hey, at least you are actually pregnant though!!

@MrsEG Ohh that's very proactive of him! Glad to hear hear he enjoyed it too. Mine is up to month 4 and now he's waiting for me to catch up haha.

@Cookie0508 ahh that's good to know, I think I'll definitely sign up to them in that case. Especially as DH and I are pretty clueless about all things babies!

@LindyMoe Congratulations! March is a fab time for a birthday, just starting to spring into spring. I had cramps on and off for the first few weeks after I found out. They were similar to period pains, but not quite as bad if that makes sense? It's quite normal - all the ladies on here reassured me and said it's just everything stretching out.

I'm 7+1 today and suddenly feeling very bloated and heavy. Couldn't be to do with all the potatoes I'm eating could I?! It's honestly all I can stomach atm. That and dry crackers. Yum yum. Had some soup for lunch and felt sick while eating it. So grim.

stormtrooperjulian · 26/06/2019 21:56

@LindyMoe congratulations! As @purplefig said, the cramping for the first few weeks is totally normal, it’s just everything stretching out and moving around for the first time.

@MrsC87 @purplefig I’ve bought the positive birth company online course, haven’t started it yet but I’ve seen loads of people rave about it to hopefully it’ll be useful!

@Cookie0508 we start our NCT classes in a few weeks. I’m kinda dreading it, I’m not the biggest fan of forced social interaction usually, but I will give it my best shot and hopefully meet some nice people, we don’t know anyone really with a small baby so would be good to meet some other new parents. Am hoping we get some tips on how to look after a baby during the classes... I think I can muddle through labour but I have no idea how to take care of a newborn!

@Delilah7 how is baby Ethan doing? I hope you get to go home soon

Cookie0508 · 26/06/2019 22:07

@stormtrooperjulian oh I know what you mean! I'm really shy in a group of strangers but they've been good and everyone's in the same situation. We didn't know anyone with babies currently so thought it would help. We've now set up a WhatsApp group so we can share a bit more. It's definitely helped for the advice side. You see all these things the shops try and sell you and our tutor was just like, nah you don't need all that! Nice to get some real feedback on stuff.

Cookie0508 · 26/06/2019 22:11

@LindyMoe congrats and welcome! Cramping was one of my first symptoms. It does fade eventually though and you get other things instead! Grin xx

LindyMoe · 26/06/2019 22:14

@purplefig oh no, just potatoes and crackers? How long have you been nauseous for?

@purplefig @stormtrooperjulian thanks for the reassurance. I really want to just enjoy being pregnant so forums like this are so amazing!

@MrsEG sorry didn't see you there, hi! How are you feeling?

Tropicana1 · 26/06/2019 23:20

Feel like I've been so absent on here, these last few weeks have been absolutely manic! Having a lovely time reading all the catch ups though!
Very early days but my hope is to breast feed for the benefits to baby, with possibly also expressing for some bottle feeding too so DH can get involved / baby will be used to a bottle too. No idea really what I'm on about though, very naive to this whole thing, and have had a friend that really struggled breast feeding both of hers and had to stop after a couple of months, so like others won't be putting too much undue pressure on myself! As many of you say, babies do very well on formula!

@MrsEG so pleased to see you back on here! Fingers and toes crossed for this time with the fertility doc and her plan!

@Delilah7 so many congratulations on Ethan he's beautiful you must be so thrilled!

@Crossfitgirl Pram looks great! How do you go about choosing I genuinely feel like I have no clue what I'm aiming for!

Starting to get a bit nervous about the scan next week now! Excited but nervous too, wish it would just hurry up!

MrsEG · 27/06/2019 07:04

@Tropicana1 Hey hun! Been thinking of you, how are you doing post-surgery? Hope you’ve recovered well. When is your scan? Good luck with it!

@LindyMoe Hi lovely, congrats :) I am feeling okay, just very tired and breathless. Which as someone who usually runs a lot, I’m struggling with haha! Walking the dog feels like climbing Everest. As others have said, I have also had mild cramps on and off - nothing painful, just the odd twinge. If it’s very painful I’d get it checked out but if not it sounds completely normal!

@purplefig I am all over the beige food myself this week, unless pasta or chips is involved I don’t want to know. Hope your nausea doesn’t get too bad! Yep DH now thinks he’s a pro, I’m sleeping like a log and he’ll say ‘Oh yes, that’s your body’s way of stockpiling sleep while you’re expecting, don’t you know’! Another book I have is How to Grow a Baby and push it out!

In the Lakes and did a 5 hour hike yesterday, I really struggled mid-way as I was shattered but we just took it really slow. Weather and scenery was incredible though! Clexane injections are starting to hurt a little bit now but it’s manageable.

Also, really nice to hear so many saying the NCT course is worthwhile - my friends have told me they found it rubbish and ‘nothing you can’t just find out online’ but I was really keen to do it. Perhaps I’ll find out what class they did and make sure I join a different one!

To all the ladies in their final weeks, I’ll be thinking of you these next few days in this heat!! XX

Tropicana1 · 27/06/2019 08:12

@MrsEG hey lovely! I'm doing my good now thanks, took me a lot longer than I expected to get back to normal after the surgery, I kept trying to do more than my body was actually able to 🙈 amazing how much that kind of thing really takes out of you. Mind you I don't think it helped being couples with the exhaustion of early pregnancy!

Ladies who've done the NCT course, at what stage did you sign up? I've been thinking about them but not sure when I'm supposed to. Did you also do the free NHS ones you got offered?

thumper59 · 27/06/2019 09:28

Hope your all well lovely ladies 💕 we'll have to do an updated due date list now we've had so many new positives!💕💕💕

I've woke up feeling sick as a dog this morning sat at my desk trying not to spew everywhere. How random! 21+3 today too!

MrsC87 · 27/06/2019 09:39

@LindyMoe congratulations and welcome. My first sign of pregnancy was cramping and I'm now 37 weeks, so it's pretty normal, good luck with your pregnancy and here for any questions you may have 💖

@purplefig yes I'm going to use the breathing techniques and keeping upright as much as possible from the hypnobirthing videos!

@Tropicana1 I didn't do NCT, a friend of mine did and she felt it was paying for baby friends as the course is very similar to the NHS ones. Plus in my area it was £270 😳 I did the NHS free 4 week course with hubby and loved it. We also have a group chat on WhatsApp from it. It's totally personal choice but I was too tight to pay for a course 🤣 xx

stormtrooperjulian · 27/06/2019 09:50

@Tropicana1 I signed up for the NCT classes at around 10 weeks, had been told that they book up really quickly and I didn’t want to miss out on a place. I haven’t been offered any NHS classes, not sure my area runs any.

We’re going away for the weekend tomorrow morning to celebrate our wedding anniversary, looks like we’ll actually get good weather for it too, I’m really looking forward to it! I think I might take my pregnancy pillow with me though 😂

mrsof20118 · 27/06/2019 19:09

I attended nct and found it really useful. Very informative and although nerve wracking in that situation everyone is there hopefully for the same reasons to build a support network too. I went to one NHS class but found it very negative in terms of the information they offered and I think I would struggle to build bonds in such a large group with limited time.

MrsC87 · 28/06/2019 09:45

Ladies the positive birth company digital pack is on offer today only, have a look online or on their Facebook page! Well worth buying at the offer price! 💖

Fivebyfive2 · 28/06/2019 10:19

@MrsC87, thanks for the tip, will check that out!

OK ladies, I think I need a talking to please?! So we're home, had a nice holiday overall and our 12 week scan is Monday. We had a 9 week scan and all was absolutely fine, I've had no problems in between... But... I'm starting to feel really nervous in case the scan shows bad news. The most absurd thing is, my parents are on holiday from tomorrow for 2 weeks but they know when the scan is. For some ridiculous reason, I keep thinking there will be a problem and it will ruin their holiday?! As if that's even the thing to worry about?! Maybe it's hormones! Can someone please tell me I'm being silly, that all is probably fine and even if it isn't, my parents holiday is the last thing to get upset about?! Thanks!! Xx

BabySquid · 28/06/2019 10:59

@Fivebyfive2 it's defo the hormones. We've booked another scan for next Saturday to make sure everything is ok, and even tho we had one at 5+6 and saw the heartbeat (after we were told by an early scanner that the sac was empty so went to EPU), I couldn't wait for my 12 week and wanted to know that all is still fine, there's no reason for it not to be like you say, just hormones putting a downer on my mood haha
Everything will be fine. We need to try stay as positive as we can 🥰

So we decided after the horrid weekend of Father's Day and not getting to tell our parents in case it was bad news, that we're going to tell them next weekend. It's my FIL birthday so though it would be a great time.

How's everyone doing today? I have horrid neck ache and haven't slept well all week! 7+1 today.

Fivebyfive2 · 28/06/2019 11:35

@BabySquid, aah that sounds lovely about telling people in time for a birthday! Joint celebration time!

Anyone got weekend plans? We're seeing Toy Story 4 tomorrow, so excited it's like we're a couple of kids 😂

BabySquid · 28/06/2019 11:39

@Fivebyfive2 oh my gosh I'm so jealous I really wanna see it! We have zero plans for a short while, we've just booked a couple of apartments/villa type places for when we go to Oz in Oct, and then also my car had its first MOT yesterday, with the service ended up paying over £400!!! 😱 so our purse strings will be well and truly closed for a while!

MrsEG · 28/06/2019 12:47

@Fivebyfive2 ‘Scanxiety’ is a very real thing! Just try reminding yourself that the high likelihood is that all will be absolutely fine and it will be a wonderful day :) We saw Toy Story 4 this week, and both cried. It was so lovely!

@Tropicana1 So glad to hear you are all recovered!

@thumper59 Sorry to hear the sickness returned!! Was it just a one off or are you still feeling a bit ropey?

@MrsC87 Thanks Hun, I’m really interested in the PBC so once I make it through my next few consultant appts I’ll definitely be on the look out for offers :)

Hope everyone is enjoying this weather - I’ve had the week off like a real smug thing!! Feeling okay; still have real awful pangs of panic but just taking each day as it comes. I’m barely 6 weeks and if it wasn’t for some very mild cramps and breathlessness I’d be nonethewiser! Appointment with consultant on Monday can’t come soon enough.

MrsC87 · 28/06/2019 12:48

@Fivebyfive2 I think we've all felt like that but all is looking positive so it'll be fine I'm sure. I got nervous at every scan and I've had 7 in total 🙈 looking forward to hearing about Monday's Scan 🥰

Sorry your not sleeping well @BabySquid, hopefully you can relax this weekend! I feel your pain on the money side of things, I've seriously had to save hard to cover my maternity and then buying all the last minute baby things, we just need a quiet weekend, especially with induction next week!
However hubby is cleaning the lounge carpet tomo ready for baby's arrival, it's the last thing to do!

Shall we do a due date run down like @thumper59 suggested?

BabySquid · 28/06/2019 12:52

@MrsC87 and @thumper59 good idea..
I'm due 13th Feb.

Delilah7 · 28/06/2019 12:52

Hi ladies. Sorry for the silence! We came home Wednesday and was abit overwhelmed. He had an AWFUL first night and I was absolutely not sure that I've done the right thing in having a baby. Honestly being over tired does awful things to you. However he gave us 7 hours sleep last night and has been doing great at home! His jaundice is manageable and his bottles he's doing well with. Had first poo explosion today! Beware also ladies where I'm from they send you home with injections to do yourself for blood clotting if you stay in longer.... updated pic! Hope you're all ok. Xx

Fivebyfive2 · 28/06/2019 13:14

@Delilah7, so glad you're all home and doing OK. I think everyone must feel overwhelmed at first, I know I will!! I remember my dad telling me about when they first came home with my brother... He was like 'they just let you go with this tiny thing you need to look after, and you have no clue'!! They did fine though and you will too xxxx

@MrsC87 @MrsEG, thanks ladies I just need a bit of a telling I think!!

@MrsEG, hope your weekend is fab! Xx

@thumper59, I'm due around 11th Jan, but will hopefully have a more accurate date on Monday!! Xxx
