@MrsC87 I do! I bounce on it all the time. Just had a scan and he's defo very low down. His profile is so lovely and they said they can see little bits of hair 😍 so I wonder!! Xxx

purplefig · 19/06/2019 15:59

@EltzBee oh totally, it's 100% up to the individual! I'm just curious as it's all pretty new to me. In terms of getting your life back, do you mean that with breast feeding you're restricted with how long you can leave the baby?

@MrsC87 oh that's so interesting, I had no idea about that connection. The more I learn about pregnancy / childbirth the more in awe I am of our bodies.

MrsC87 · 19/06/2019 16:08

Oh exciting @Delilah7 it's amazing! Just keep that in mind every time you have a contraction, your a step closer to meeting your boy! I can't wait to hear from you to say he is here 😘 xxx

@purplefig yeh our bodies do amazing things and it's all linked!
Going to have another go at collecting collustrum tonight 🍼🐮🥛 🙈 xxx

purplefig · 19/06/2019 16:10

@MrsC87 hahaha its definitely a journey isn't it?! All the best 🍒🤞🏼😂

MrsC87 · 19/06/2019 16:11

@purplefig from talking to and watching my friend breastfeed it's very much on Mum all of the time. Babies also feed a lot and from what I understand you can get into a routine much quicker if bottle feeding, plus people can help.
I was shocked when I went out with my friend for a coffee and the whole time baby was on boob, then half hour break then back on! It seemed very demanding.
But I'm still going to give it a go 😊

MrsEG · 19/06/2019 16:34

Hello AGAIN ladies! Dipping my toe back in. After my third loss in May I have become pregnant again, kind of by accident, before AF has even arrived. It has been a huge huge shock, especially as I am still waiting for my tests results from my fertility consultant; I’ve been in a bit of a panic if I’m honest. But I am hoping to speak to her tomorrow and then meet with her at her clinic; some of my tests results apparently are ready, so she should have a plan. But for now, I’ve just gotta hold tight and hope hope hope I can just make it to 6 weeks. Every day is feeling SO long already haha! Also, as I had no AF I’ve not a scooby how far gone I am but as we only had sex twice in the same 24 hour period all month at least I know for sure when we conceived.

@Delilah7 oh my GOD this friday!!! I am delighted for you. This time next week he’s here!

@BabySquid Reading through the thread and so pleased to hear you have had good news today xxx

@purplefig To echo what others have said, my sister has had a shocking time breastfeeding. My niece is 14 months old and still not weaned on to bottles meaning sis had to go back to work while baby still so dependant on her. Baby got so used to the boob that she just will not take a bottle, even of expressed milk. Sis has been to every BF support group going; nothing has worked so far. Plan at this point is to hope she just grows out of it (she also needs less now she is one, which is helping a little). She says her biggest regret of her first year is not introducing bottles very early and doing a combo of both from early on; she tried weaning at 6 months and already it was too late. She’s had PND, blocked ducts that baby has had to feed through, severe anxiety etc. It’s been eye opening watching her battle through it all!!

purplefig · 19/06/2019 16:38

@MrsEG I know I've been chatting to you in the other thread, but so glad you're here. Fingers crossed you get to chat to her tomorrow. Thanks for sharing that - it's not a topic I've discussed much so I'm really interested to learn about different experiences. Your poor sister - sounds like she's had a terrible time with breastfeeding.

MrsEG · 19/06/2019 16:44

@purplefig She maintains she’s glad she did it - just wishes she’d done it all a bit differently and used bottles too, from early on. Another real issues she’s having is that my niece is quite small for her age and she panics as with BF it’s so hard to know how much she is actually eating, whereas with a bottle it’s crystal clear. Since she has been on solids she just tries to mix milk in with her food too! As others have said too, she never has a night away and still hasn’t had a single night out as can’t drink too much knowing she has to feed that night. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot but a full year of sober weddings and hen dos and birthdays and she’s losing it a bit!! I always joke that I’m so pleased she has been the test dummy so I can nail it ;)

Ah thank you - still just on the ‘stay calm and see’ train of thought for now until I speak to the consultant. Her office opens at 8 tomorrow so I’ll probably call at like 8:02 (not 01, don’t wanna look desperate)

MrsC87 · 19/06/2019 17:02

@MrsEG nice to see you on here, wishing you all the luck with this pregnancy 😘❤️

From my recent birth classes you are now allowed to drink alcohol whilst breastfeeding. Obviously not go over the top but it's fine for a few drinks on an evening apparently xx

MrsEG · 19/06/2019 17:15

@MrsC87 Thank you! Gosh you’re also due so soon now!!
Yep sis has been told the exact same - you can have one or two, but if you feel tipsy you’ve probably gone too far. She generally has one or two glasses of wine and savours every drop haha! She tries to time them quite far from feeds too. Baby sleeps a whole lot better those nights haha! X

BostonFern · 19/06/2019 17:51

@purplefig I told the Drs when I was 3 weeks pregnant then I saw my midwife at about 10 weeks, was given the appointment at about seven or eight weeks.

@BabySquid brilliant news!

@purplefig I'm going to give breastfeeding a go, but won't beat myself up either if it doesn't work. Apparently I completely refused the breast as a baby, and I think I've turned out ok! My SIL couldn't bf and my nephew is amazing too....so whilst it'll be great if I can do it, I'm not going to put myself under too much pressure if things don't work out.

@MrsEG lovely to see you back on here. Sending you lots of positive thoughts and luck for this pregnancy x

Fivebyfive2 · 19/06/2019 17:52

@MrsEG, so glad to see you're back here! Good luck tomorrow. I'm keeping everything crossed this is the one for you xxx

@babysquid, I'm so happy your scan went well!! Xxx

@purplefig, I'm only 10/11 weeks but have started thinking about feeding. Obviously it's likely to change, but at the moment I'm hoping to breastfeed at first and then do a mix of breast and bottle. Who knows if it will pan out though! I know people who hated breastfeeding and others who loved it, so we'll see!

Last day at work was today, holiday tomorrow! Then scan 1st July 😀 I definitely need a break, pretty sure pregnancy brain is kicking in! Also, I keep seeing women with prams and having the urge to ask 'how do you get on with that pram/where is it from /how much was it?! 😂 Prams baffle me apparently!!

Delilah7 · 19/06/2019 17:55

@MrsC87 I can't wait to tell you all!! The growth scan shows he has stopped growing a little but as I'm being induced Friday there's no point bringing it forward as it's not by too much! He's on 25th centile or whatever xx

@MrsEG OMG! Lovely lady you're back!!! I'm so happy for you!!!

MrsR16 · 19/06/2019 18:38

@BabySquid that's fantastic news!!! Huge congratulations! Xxx

@purplefig I'm not planning to breastfeed because I simply prefer the idea of bottle feeding! Other people will be able to feed Peanut without worrying about it being booby milk, I know DH would prefer it! I was bottle fed, as were all my siblings and nearly all my nieces and nephews - we all turned out fine. It might be best for baby but if it's not best for mum, then it won't work for baby! 😂

@thumper59 I'm surprised my MIL hasn't bought me a Perfect Prep already! 😂 I love the idea of them!

@MrsEG as I said on the other thread, congratulations! It's fantastic to see you here xx

TrashKitten10 · 19/06/2019 18:44

@MrsEG Congratulations and really hoping for a healthy and happy 9 months for you

@BabySquid Fantastic news! So pleased for you.

EltzBee · 19/06/2019 18:44

@purplefig partially, it takes over everything and is near constant feeding on demand. I just would hate that! I want to be able to let DH have precious time with baby and for me to pop out, go for a coffee or walk etc without having to have baby attached to me or having to pump in between feeds to get enough for them to get me some freedom. Some people love it but I know I'd struggle and it wouldn't be good for me.

@MrsEG ah Hun that is amazing and so crazy! Your body is certainly trying isn't it! Hope it goes well with the specialist (I'd be calling at 8 on the dot!) and have my fingers crossed for a sticky bean xx

Tropicana1 · 19/06/2019 22:26

@MrsC87 so sorry to hear about your brother in law.

@thumper59 congratulation on the boy!!

@purplefig In my area it's self referral to the midwife so she scheduled my appointment the day I phoned when I was around 5 weeks

@BabySquid so so pleased that everything's ok for you 😊🙌🏻

MrsR16 · 20/06/2019 08:40

@Delilah7 I can't believe you're being induced tomorrow!! You must be so excited! Xx

Delilah7 · 20/06/2019 08:58

@MrsR16 I'm getting really nervous and worrying ' can I do this ' I don't even know why lol xx

BabySquid · 20/06/2019 09:26

@Delilah7 just turn that statement round and think 'I can do this' hundreds of women do it every day... you're stronger than you think girl, you got this 😘

DayDreamer1707 · 20/06/2019 10:05

@BabySquid so happy that all has turned out well for you x

Delilah7 · 20/06/2019 10:26

@BabySquid I hope so ❤️

MrsR16 · 20/06/2019 12:12

@Delilah7 it's natural to be nervous! I'm not surprised at all. I'm already nervous for my labour and I've got 6 months yet! You will absolutely amaze yourself though, I reckon 😊 you've got all of us here willing everything to go as smoothly as it can go for you xx

Delilah7 · 20/06/2019 12:13

@MrsR16 thanks lovely ❤️❤️

Bettythecat · 20/06/2019 13:29

Hello all, I've been quiet on here because I didn't want to count my chickens or bring down the thread with my constant worrying but I had my 7 week scan this morning and all looks good and normal. Measuring at 6w5d which is bang on for ovulation and heartbeat was 124bpm. So so relieved. It's not quite sunk in yet but I'm allowing myself to get tentatively excited! I've got another scan in about ten days to check progress too.

Here's a photo of my slug like baby!!

@Delilah7 you can definitely do it lovely- your body knows what to do! Just think you will get to meet Ethan in real life so soon!
