I keep finding so many cute clothes for boys too @thumper59 Primark has some lovely Disney bits in at the moment!

thumper59 · 19/06/2019 08:02

@BostonFern oh that's great Thankyou, I'll pop next weekend into town. I got some little bits from mothercare and next yesterday. I keep hoping someone is going to get married or some formal occasion start of next year so I can get him a little shirt and waistcoat 😫 they absolutely kill me! X

Delilah7 · 19/06/2019 08:08

@MrsC87 I think just all of it. It's just the unknown. If anything I'd prefer not to have a lot of medication, ( not that I'm against it if I need it 😂 ). I just always wanted a water birth with gas and air. Dependent on what body needs and baby I'll go with whatever. C section doesn't really scare me weirdly! They've gone through it with a booklet xx

@Fivebyfive2 make sure you have a lovely time and relax darling!! Xxx

purplefig · 19/06/2019 10:23

When did you guys hear from the midwife to sort your booking appointment? I filled out the forms last week and the GP receptionist said they'd be in touch early this week, but I haven't heard anything yet. I'm only 6+1 but it would be nice to get the ball rolling.

@Delilah7 sounds like you did your grandad proud ❤️ crazy to think how soon you'll meet your baby now! I'm like you and ideally want a water birth with gas and air, but think it's pretty sensible to accept we can only have birth preferences and not a plan. I'm so excited for you!

@thumper59 congratulations - how exciting!! What a gorgeous scan pic. we also went into mothercare last week for a perusal, it was such a novelty but oh my goodness the prices seemed outrageous. There's no way I'm spending £15 on something a newborn is going to wear a handful of times before it no longer fits 😂

@Fivebyfive2 enjoy your last day of work - off anywhere nice?

@mrsof20118 how many weeks are you?

@MrsC87 sorry to hear about your BIL, that's horrendous news.

@BostonFern I'm glad it's not just me. I feel so up and down at the moment, but I'm just trying to go with it and accept it's quite a cocktail of hormones we're on.

@BabySquid all the best for your appointment this morning. Thinking of you.

Delilah7 · 19/06/2019 10:25

@purplefig mine took a little while Hun I think. My water birth is defo out I think, but I just hope I get myself in the zone and be fine and not panic.... thank you. I'm very scared! Xxx

purplefig · 19/06/2019 10:29

@Delilah7 have you looked into hypnobirthing at all? If not, it's all about breathing practices to help with childbirth / keep you calm. Often it's associated with drug free births, but I know mums who have c-sections that said it helped keep them calm.

Delilah7 · 19/06/2019 10:30

@purplefig I have a book on it and a cd and have my breathing techniques but I think it's just because I'll be early when I'm induced and I worry i won't be ready down there! Xx

Bettythecat · 19/06/2019 11:07

@purplefig I think mine took about a week from the appointment but will probably depend on area. Xx

@BabySquid I hope you're ok today- let us know how it goes. Xxx

EltzBee · 19/06/2019 12:00

@purplefig I had a GP appointment at 6 weeks, and my booking in appointment with the midwife wasn't til I was 11 weeks. My GP requested my 12 week scan at the 6wk appointment. I think here at least they prefer to wait for booking in appointment to take place til your past 10 weeks, generally.

Got freaked out today, my boobs have started leaking. I really don't want to breastfeed and it's just made me go 'ewww!', I don't know why but I didn't expect it to happen so early (29+5). That and cramps and aches and I'm feeling quite fed up this week!

mrsof20118 · 19/06/2019 12:11

@purplefig I think I had mine around 8 weeks or just over. They were quick at getting me in though. I'm 34 weeks exactly today

BabySquid · 19/06/2019 12:35

@purplefig I told my dr the min I found out on the 31st and only got my booking apt through the post last week.
@Bettythecat It actually went well, went in thinking they were going to do an internal, so went for a wee just before I got called in, and they did an abdominal scan, and they saw a teeny heartbeat 💗 I cried! She said I'm not as far on as I thought because of my longer cycles and the sonographer should have known to ask, said she don't know where she got 12mm and 6 weeks from either as I'm only 5+6 today. I'm feeling much much better about things and it was lovely to see the little heartbeat. I have a teeny scan pic but you can barely see anything.

@thumper59 congratulations on team blue 💙

@Delilah7 I'm so looking forward to hearing how Friday goes and wish you the best of luck, I'm sure you'll do great ❤️

Hope everyone else is good today. I'm beaming 😁😁

mrsof20118 · 19/06/2019 12:44

@BabySquid over the moon for you xx

Delilah7 · 19/06/2019 12:50

@BabySquid I literally just blubbed reading your update. I'm sooooooo happy for you. Oh darling how over the moon you must be! Thank you xxx

thumper59 · 19/06/2019 12:55

@purplefig Thankyou, yeah it's expensive! We got some cute little outfits in the sale 😃 i can't stop looking at them!

@BabySquid Thankyou 💙. Oh I am SO happy for you, how amazing 💕 what a wonderful Wednesday!!xx

Bettythecat · 19/06/2019 12:59

@BabySquid oh how amazing, that's such brilliant lovely news. Xxx

purplefig · 19/06/2019 13:52

@BabySquid INCREDIBLE news!!!!! I'm totally chuffed for you lovely.

@EltzBee ahh I see - they don't do GP appointments in my area, you're referred straight on to the midwife team.

@Bettythecat I'm probably being impatient...hasn't even been a week yet!

One more question (!!!) I see a few of you have mentioned you aren't planning to breastfeed. Is there are particular reason for this? I know it can be a contentious issue but I'm just genuinely curious. I imagine it'll make night feeds a bit more fair between partners.

thumper59 · 19/06/2019 14:04

@purplefig I'm not planning on breast feeding, I don't feel like it will work for me. I see ladies struggling around me every single day with breast feeding and beating themselves up about it. My dear sister in law sat often in tears with my nephew- she felt like she was failing him, he wouldn't settle, always crying etc she was in agony. She put him onto a bottle and he got what he needed and was a delight- she enjoyed her time with him much more. I know for every story like this a lady will come and say she loves it's its a breeze etc, I have friends like this too! For me, there is a lot of things you can't make easier with a newborn, bottle feeding is one thing you can change to make it easier and to share feeds with your partner, ease of feeding when out and about it etc it is more then enough to sway me! 🙂. I don't even know why it seems to be such a taboo topic if I'm honest xx

DiviyaSalana80 · 19/06/2019 14:24

Hello there! WOW! Such cuties are in this thread. Can't wait to have my own...I'm also having my attempt this August in KYIV. Just need best regards and prayers! It's my TTC#1.

BabySquid · 19/06/2019 14:32

Thanks @purplefig
I'm planning on giving breastfeeding a go, only because I want to feel that bond with my child that my mum raves about... also I'll probs be doing the night feeds on my own anyway as DH works crazy hours and I'll be off so it only seems fair. But I'm not going to beat myself up about it if I can't... I don't have the biggest of boobs so I'm not sure how much will come out of them! 🙈

purplefig · 19/06/2019 14:41

@thumper59 thanks for sharing. You're right it's one of the few variables you can change with a newborn!

@BabySquid that's what I'm planning to do too. I also like the appeal of not having to get up / make milk / sort bottles etc. But like you, if it doesn't work out I'm not going to beat myself up. Also it doesn't look like breast size has any impact on mill supply: www.babycentre.co.uk/x1048230/is-it-true-that-small-breasted-mums-produce-less-breastmilk

purplefig · 19/06/2019 14:45

Milk not mill. Don't think newborns are keen on flour 😳

thumper59 · 19/06/2019 14:48

I got my perfect prep bought a few months ago while on offer and I can't wait to use it 😂

EltzBee · 19/06/2019 15:44

@BabySquid that's great news :)

@purplefig I don't want to breastfeed, I know too many women that have and who have struggled as there is a huge amount of pressure on them and it restricts them getting their own lives back. I know for me that would not be good for my mental health! DH and I are both going to do feeds, we both feel that bottle feeding means we both share that responsibility and and get that bonding. If people want to breastfeed and can, great for them. I get so annoyed at breastfeeding being pushed at every opportunity and the pressure on ladies to do it, regardless of whether they can do it, or even simply want to do it. We have a Perfect Prep machine which we got on offer ready.

MrsC87 · 19/06/2019 15:52

@purplefig I am planning on breastfeeding but mainly for the benefits for baby and myself. With having GD, breastfeeding reduces the risk of both baby and me developing diabetes long term. So I really have to give it a go. I'm not putting any pressure on myself so if i try my hardest and it doesn't go well then I'll start formula!

@Delilah7 have you a yoga ball at home to bounce on? It might help open up the pelvis. It's difficult as I am nervous and scared but oxytocin is what helps with birth so trying to remain calm and happy is what we both need to do- like I said it's hard lol!
I'm going to buy some aromatherapy oils to pop on during the induction, load my kindle up with books and Netflix and see if that helps me relax. We'll see....

MrsC87 · 19/06/2019 15:53

Sorry forgot to write congrats @BabySquid 🥰❤️ lovely news to read xx
