@thumper59 oooo I love Rudy!

@Crossfitgirl and Olivia is a gorgeous name. I love Liv as a nickname too! How much longer have you got in Cornwall? The Eden Project is a great rainy day shout.

@MrsR16 interesting....I hadn't even thought twice about getting the screening tests. @Crossfitgirl it's a really interesting point about the non invasive tests not being 100% accurate.

How's everyone doing today? I'm now 5 weeks and absolutely shattered. Woke up and felt like I could go straight back to bed.

When did you guys tell close friends/family that you were pregnant?

Fivebyfive2 · 11/06/2019 10:02

@purplefig, we told both sets of parents and my bro and sil as soon as we found out, but am leaving everyone else until our 12 week scan. But it's different for everyone 🙂

purplefig · 11/06/2019 10:05

@Fivebyfive2 yeah I think we'll tell my parents soon as we're very close, I'd want their support whatever and my mum has creepily good pregnancy detection skills 😂 everyone else will wait until after 12 weeks.

Bettythecat · 11/06/2019 10:06

@purplefig I'm also v tired today. Felt like I slept well but obviously not as I'm pretty tired already! On the question of when to tell I've already told my parents and 3 best mates. I think I mentioned on here already but when it went wrong last time it was so painful to have to tell those that didn't know (Mum already knew) that I was pregnant but the baby wasn't growing that I knew I wanted them to know early on this time in case (god forbid) it happened again. They were also all such a massive support that I wouldn't want to suffer in silence even for a few days again. I think it's a massively personal thing though so everyone tells at different times. What are you thinking of doing? Does anyone know at all?

purplefig · 11/06/2019 10:11

@Bettythecat DH knows (I woke him up as soon as I found out by shoving my pee-y First Response in his face 😂 )and I let my acupuncturist know as I cancelled my next appointment. Think I'm going to pop over and tell my parents tomorrow because like you, I'd want their support. How're you coping with tiredness? Fortunately I'm self employed so I can start later / take breaks. But it also means I only get paid when I'm working...so no slacking off!

Crossfitgirl · 11/06/2019 10:17

@purplefig ooh are we? we come every year but St Ives got too expensive so last year we stayed in Padstow and this year Hayle. We'll, its rainy and blowing a gale today haha. We're off to Rick Steins for a posh lunch then wander round Padstow, and if weather stays like this looks like eden project tomorrow.... Defo not doing the coastal walk in this! Any suggestions for indoor stuff? (that's free) Haha.

@delilah7 omg!! So exciting!!! Roll on next Friday!! We get all our mamas and papas stuff that day, I'll be keeping an eye on here for news!

@trashkitten10 yeah I was self conscious for ages but then thought, well I'm going to get bigger, and it's not going away for another 6 months, so just completely embraced it. I love people coming and touching my bump! Lol.

@thumper59 nah I wouldn't have minded either, but it's nice to prove people wrong sometimes 😂 hehe! Aww hope DH comes round to Nellie and you can agree on it, I'm lucky we've agreed on a name we both love, but I wouldn't like to name our daughter something I wasn't keen on. DH kept saying Jessica to me as he liked it, and it did grow on me, but we decided we liked Olivia more 😁

@mrsr16 I cried on the way to my dating scan. Lol. It was all fine though and I'm sure yours will be! Xx

Euh it takes me so long to write a post these days that I missed literally 5 other posts in the time it took me to write that one!! Slow down people!! Haha.

Thanks @purplefig haha as if you posted that while I was posting about it and asking! We bought tickets yesterday! We're here until Saturday, the forecast is dire. Ah well!

I also love Liv as a nickname 😍

We told family at 7 weeks, then I told a few close friends just after, then everyone else at 13 weeks. I was glad I told people close to me early on, especially at work as it really helped when people were aware I was feeling so shit in the first trimester. If you have nausea or sickness, coping is hard enough as it is without having to try and hide it on top!

Bettythecat · 11/06/2019 10:43

@purplefig haha I did the same! I did wonder if I could try and tell him in some kind of cool or romantic way but both times I've just shoved it in his face at some ungodly hour looking like a mad woman in my dressing gown. 😂 to be honest I'm not feeling too tired yet- I'm a bit more tired at certain times (Was yawning my head off from about 5 yesterday) but nothing too unmanageable. Could equally be down to the fact I'm not drinking caffeine!

purplefig · 11/06/2019 10:47

@Crossfitgirl that's so funny 😂 it's the classic rainy day Cornwall activity though! Loads of great national trust properties down here - I like Lanhydrock House as it's all set up as it would've been and very atmospheric. There are a few good art galleries if that's your thing? Newlyn Art Gallery + Exchange down in Penzance are great - and if you like fish and are in that neck of the woods you HAVE to go to the Tolcarne Inn in Newlyn. Ridiculously good food and a relative hidden gem! Otherwise the Tate if you appreciate modern art (I don't hahha) or Barbara Hepworth museum. Hmmm what else....St Michaels Mount is pretty stunning whatever the weather, and you can spend ages indoors exploring the castle. Oooooo or go for a spa day?! Bedruthan is just £20pp for an evening spa and it has a huge jacuzzi overlooking the coast. (Can you use a jacuzzi if pregnant?! I wouldn't say it's hotter than a bath). To be honest, Cornwall is best enjoyed outside though and you either do need good weather or hardy clothing!

purplefig · 11/06/2019 10:48

@Bettythecat hahaha love it! I had all these elaborate plans and they went right out the window. Totally with you on the caffeine thing too 😴

Delilah7 · 11/06/2019 11:03

@Crossfitgirl lovely!! We loved our mama's and papa's stuff! I doubt it'll happen the Friday but we can but hope 😂 xx

MrsR16 · 11/06/2019 12:24

@purplefig I really struggled with tiredness for the first few weeks! I still get really tired every now and then, but at your point I was just exhausted! I also told my parents and PIL at 5 weeks, just because I know I would need their support should the worst happen. Work knew at 6 weeks, siblings we told at 8 weeks. The rest of the world get to know tomorrow!! 😂

@Crossfitgirl I am positive there's going to be happy tears tomorrow! 😊😊

AngeloMysterioso · 11/06/2019 12:55

Hi All! Sorry I've been absent for bloody ages Blush but I thought I'd pop back to share a pic of our 20 week scan which we had yesterday. It all went well, in fact I hate to sound smug but the sonographer used the word "perfect" several times Grin and we found out we're having a little boy!

MrsR16 · 11/06/2019 12:59

@AngeloMysterioso congratulations!!! That's great that the sonographer is super happy 😊😊 and you're having a baby boy!! 💙💙💙

Tropicana1 · 11/06/2019 13:33

@purplefig and @BabySquid I've been the same - haven't been able to touch a hot drink for weeks now, they turn my stomach! And this is coming from a tea addict!

@Crossfitgirl Finally think the sickness might be subsiding 🙌🏻🙌🏻 still a bit nauseous but feeling so so much better than the last few weeks and not like I'm going to vomit all the time which makes a nice change

Delilah7 · 11/06/2019 14:13

@AngeloMysterioso another boy wooo!! 💙💙

BabySquid · 11/06/2019 14:24

@Bettythecat I told my boss almost as soon as I found out (obvs after I told DH!) we're telling both parents this weekend on Father's Day, got them a baby grow that says 'guess what' on it, which I'm going to fold up and put in a small box.
We're then going to tell close friends as we see them after about 9/10 weeks... then the obligatory insta/fb post on my 30th birthday when I'll be 14 weeks.

@AngeloMysterioso congrats 💙

@Tropicana1 I'm fine with coffee, just tea 🤢

Bettythecat · 11/06/2019 15:13

@BabySquid awww that's such a sweet idea 💜. How many weeks are you now? Have you had a scan yet? Sorry I'm probably asking questions you have answered a million times already- can I blame baby brain at this stage 😉😂.

@AngeloMysterioso congratulations on your scan and your baby boy 🥳🥰

BabySquid · 11/06/2019 15:18

@Bettythecat I'm 6 weeks tomorrow, having our early scan on Saturday afternoon. Super excited about it, but anxious that it's not going to show us a great deal and I may feel we've wasted our money.
Aren't you just a day behind me??

Bettythecat · 11/06/2019 15:30

@BabySquid I am that's right! 6 weeks from my LMP on Thursday 😊. At 6 weeks they will need to do an internal most likely but they should still be able to see the sac and yolk so hopefully won't be wasted money. Let us know how it goes won't you 🥰.

BabySquid · 11/06/2019 15:36

@Bettythecat oh yeah I'm prepared for it to be an internal, that kinda stuff really doesn't bother me at all... gotta get used to it I suppose for the impending birth haha!! I hope to share it with you all when I have a picture. 🥰

Bettythecat · 11/06/2019 15:46

@BabySquid I've had an internal before and it's totally fine- nothing to worry about on that front 🥰. How come you decided to go for a 6 week scan if you don't mind me asking?

BabySquid · 11/06/2019 15:50

@Bettythecat Well I wanted to see that things were progressing, after my mc at 5+4 last time I was a bit anxious, and thought it would be great to have a scan pic to show our parents when we tell them on Sunday 🥰😊

Bettythecat · 11/06/2019 15:55

@BabySquid sounds like a great plan to me ☺️. How exciting, I bet they will be absolutely thrilled. X

BabySquid · 11/06/2019 15:58

@Bettythecat I know they will... both sides have been asking for ages when we're going to make them grandparents! It's a first for both sides. My mum actually said that they're looking at moving further up north around March April next year... I don't think she'll wanna once she finds out I'm due in Feb!
