@Bettythecat I'm 19 weeks today and I was never actually sick! I had nausea on and off from around 7-9 weeks but nothing that ever took me off my feet! Other then tiredness in the early days I've not had anything- no food aversions etc! Actually I got bad constipation once at around 9 weeks. Don't worry! Some people just don't get effected at all anyway! Other then starting to look a little more round ( even then it's not much- especially in a morning!) you wouldn't know I was pregnant. I am anxiously awaiting my 20 week scan next week to be reasured little one is still in there and fine!

Bettythecat · 10/06/2019 12:51

@thumper59 thanks lovely that's so reassuring. I know odds are everything will be fine but it's hard not to let your mind wander to a bad place! Good luck with your scan next week- have you felt them moving yet? Will you be finding out the sex?

thumper59 · 10/06/2019 12:59

@Bettythecat no it's really hard not too! I know that too as I am a natural born worrier! But everything will be fine, and feeling fine isn't a bad thing! Thankyou, I think I've felt movements ( but again- being the negative Nancy I am I don't want to say yes for defo incase something is wrong and they say no chance I could of felt anything) but I do think I've felt some definate prods from the inside that can't be anything else! Yes, we are finding out 😊 and going to do a gender reveal bbq for the family on the Saturday which I absolutely can't wait for! Even though the dress I got I wore the other day for afternoon tea and then washed it today and I've accidentally turned it blue 😫😂

Bettythecat · 10/06/2019 13:04

Ahahaha oh no!! Maybe it's a sign that you're having a boy?! Can you save it or is it a goner? Your gender reveal party sounds so fun- I think I will definitely want to find out too! I know what you mean about being a worrier- I'm naturally a bit of a pessimist (think it's a way of protecting myself from disappointment a lot of the time) so have to catch myself and make myself think positively! Your prods sounds like kicks to me! What date is your scan? Can't wait to see the pics 😊

thumper59 · 10/06/2019 13:20

I've put it on the radiator to dry before work this morning but I think it'll be a goner 😫 good job it wasn't expensive and I managed to get a picture in it last week haha! Everyone keeps saying boy anyway so I'm convinced it is but I have no reasoning! Yeah I'm the same I'm a worrier about everything, I don't like to get too carried away with stuff going well, it's not a great way to be so I do try to change my mind set it's hard to do though. It's next Tuesday- morning thank goodness!! Aw thanks I'll be sure to put them on- as long as no family is sneaking about as we are keeping it secret till the bbq on the Saturday if I don't spill before then! 😬

Fivebyfive2 · 10/06/2019 17:35

@purplefig, hi hun! Don't worry about asking questions!! Yep, I'm still having an NHS scan as normal at 12 weeks, that is standard for everyone. Just waiting for a letter to come through with the date!! We paid for a private early scan, just for reassurance because of what happened before. The internal scan is fine... I mean, obviously it's not The Best Feeling, but it doesn't hurt and at the early stages, it means they see more accurately what is happening in there!! How are you feeling? Xx

@bettythecat, I know exactly what you mean about the bad thoughts!! However, I can recommend trying to enjoy it if you can. At first, I felt like we shouldn't get 'too into it' this time, to protect ourselves; but honestly I'd have been just as upset if the scan at the weekend had been bad news however I'd been thinking about it beforehand... So in a way, it makes sense to try and enjoy it a little... Hope that makes sense and I don't come across as patronising or anything! If you want to inbox me ever, I'm always here xxx

Crossfitgirl · 10/06/2019 17:51

Apologies in advance for the essay 😂 I've been away for too long!!

@bettythecat yes pics will deffo follow once we've got everything set up! Can't wait! How are you feeling now?

@cookie0508 so glad all was OK after your trip to the unit, the NHS is amazing isn't it.

@mrsc87 yay for maternity leave! Love pyjama days, glad you're staying chilled.

@babysquid I missed your BFP, Congratulations!! How do you feel? Excited for your booking appt! It makes it all feel real!

@CobaltRose96 loving the Scarlett updates! She is beautiful! Glad you're getting a bit more sleep!

@delilah7 agreed, LOVE your bump! Not long for you to go now! How's little ethan doing? I asked my midwife about strep B test and she said if I want one at my 36 week appt, to just ask for one and they'll do it, they just have to bullshit that we show signs of a UTI, but all that happens if we have a private one is we give her the result, and she has to do her own anyway to confirm it. It's different depending on trusts I imagine though. Also you look amazing at your baby shower!!

@eltzbee good call on the work meeting, you and baby come first. I measured 28 at 28 weeks too! It's amazing how they can tell which way round bubs is isn't it? I'm currently in Cornwall having our final couples holiday for a few years hehe. Despite the dismal forecast it's been sunny so far, yay!
The work thing... How annoying!

@mrsr16 hope all is OK and that the spotting is nothing to worry about xxx

@fivebyfive2 that sounds like an awful dream! So glad the scan went well!

@tropicana1 oh no, sickness sucks. Have you found things that help? Fresh air was all that did it for me.

@stormtrooperjulian how's the arm? Mine ached for days after that jab!

@trashkitten10 I feel you on the feeling shit. It was around that time that I felt awful in everything, I don't think I looked blatantly pregnant, but I had a definite bump, the in between podge and pregnancy look. I've found that clothes accentuating the bump make me feel way better. Baggy stuff just makes me look fat and tent like, where as more body con stuff does make you look more "pregnant". I used to try suck my bump in!! Now I'm super proud of it. Embrace it, it'll get bigger and that means your baby is thriving, show it off! It's the one time of my life I've ever felt good sticking my tummy out!

We are currently enjoying some lovely sunshine in sunny St Ives, Baby is behaving - doing what feels like somersaults most of the time! I'm still feeling good and we've managed some nice long walks so far. I was worried I'd be too big, but I'm fine! 31 +3 today so still a good couple of months to go yet. Really can't wait to finish work... I've got 4 weeks of 3day weeks when I get back... So only 12 more days in total! Woo hoo!

@purplefig I am secretly hoping that my date will be brought forward a little bit! Although first babies in my family have a habit of turning up a week or two late! 😂 I ended up not going to see the GP, the spotting has completely stopped! Naughty I know, but I'm far more worried about my scan on Wednesday... I've come to the conclusion that if I overdo things (which I have a habit of doing) then the spotting starts! So I need to take it super easy.

@Crossfitgirl hey girl! Yeah, I'm doing alright, spotting has stopped thankfully 😊 scan on Wednesday so desperately trying to not worry about it! I've also been weighing up whether to get the screening tests or not which has been a massive play on my conscience! Hope you're enjoying St Ives! It's been horribly rainy all day up here. Xx

Bettythecat · 10/06/2019 18:21

@thumper59 hopefully you can salvage it somehow then?! I'm sure your secret will be safe on these pages but you could always just share the pics with no sex if there's a possibility of any lurkers 😉. Have you thought of any names yet?

@Fivebyfive2 thank you that is honestly so sweet of you. These pages are so so supportive it makes such a huge difference to everything. You don't sound patronising at all! Excellent advice and you are quite right- in fact I've seen you say something similar a while back and told my DH about it. I also told him about your scan going well- I was really rooting for you and from a purely selfish point of view have taken it as a good omen for me too!

@Crossfitgirl I feel much better having spoken to you all today- so many lovely reassurances and kind words. I don't feel sick but I do "feel" pregnant so I'm trying to trust that feeling. Your holiday sounds absolutely glorious- I've not spent much time in Cornwall but I love a UK break with lots of nice walks and coffee shops and cosy nights in. Me and DH had a week in the Lakes earlier this year doing just that!

BostonFern · 10/06/2019 18:32

@Crossfitgirl ooo, enjoy St Ives, lovely part of the country. If you get a nice day try Gwithian beach too. It's one of my favourites!

16 week appointment done, blood pressure was ok but I had some ketones in my urine so I need to try and eat more often I think. I'm booked in for my whooping cough jab later this week as a result of today's appointment.

thumper59 · 10/06/2019 18:36

@Bettythecat I'm sure it will be fine yeah nobody should look haha! Yeah I really love Nellie for a girl, I'm not really up for debate on it so told OH it'll have to grow on him but boys we are still debating, I don't have so many boys names!

purplefig · 10/06/2019 19:52

@Crossfitgirl ooo you're in my neck of the woods! Let's hope the sunshine stays for your holidays ☀️

@Fivebyfive2 thanks ❤️ I've debated the reassurance scan but I think I'm going to leave it. I'm feeling ok thanks, just the usual sore boobs and tired. Don't know if that's from cuffing out coffee though 😂 I'm only 4+6 and from what I've read sickness doesn't usually kick in until 6+ weeks so bracing myself.

@MrsR16 what's the scan on Wednesday for? It's good that you've worked out what the spotting is in connection with too.

@BostonFern glad your 16 week appointment went well. How're you feeling?

@thumper59 totally agree that boys names are way harder to pick.

Delilah7 · 10/06/2019 20:04

@Bettythecat exactly!! I know it's hard but try not to look into not having it yet. Mine didn't start till 6/7 weeks and then obviously turned to HG! Xx

@thumper59 thank you so much xxx

@Crossfitgirl thank you!!! Too kind. Little man seems to be doing ok. Was 5lb 2 weight at his last growth scan so doing ok! I thought there would of been signs for having strep b tbh! Well done for asking though and letting me know! Glad you're feeling good 😍😍

I have news...
IM TOO BE INDUCED FRIDAY 21st!! NEXT WEEK 😍😍

TrashKitten10 · 10/06/2019 20:05

@BabySquid Yes I wasn't a skinny Minnie to start with either so think people must think I've just eaten all the pies 😂 I'm a bridesmaid this weekend actually. The dress is long and floaty and currently still fits fine and I have been testing it with a cushion in case of sudden ballooning. What's your dress like? Yay to getting 3+ and getting symptoms!

@BostonFern Let's try to rock the chubby baby belly look together! You have loads of appointments! I'd forgotten about the whooping cough vaccine until you posted. Are you having yours earlier or should I be booking one in imminently?

@Delilah7 You look glowing!

@stormtrooperjulian Oh bless you. I don't think the pregnancy hormones help with these things! Was your DH supportive?

@purplefig That's a good idea, perhaps looking at ladies of different shapes and sizes might make me feel a bit more normal with my lumps and bumps. Funny you're feeling breathless, I remember that as a really early symptom of mine too. I'm a teacher and was trying to teach PE whilst huffing and puffing like I smoked 40 a day haha.

@Bettythecat Ahh, hopefully it will fly by to that point. I know it's hard not to worry but I think it's very common not to have any sickness at 5 weeks, mine didn't kick in until a week or so after that. Or you might be a lucky lady who doesn't get any :) The other thread doesn't sound like the most positive place, must be frustrating to read that after experiencing a loss.

@Crossfitgirl Nice to hear that someone else felt like this at the same stage and that you are now fully embracing dressing the bump! Hopefully over the next few weeks I will pop a bit and figure out what to wear to make me feel more pregnant and less chubby :) Sunshine on your hols sounds lovely! It's been raining the entire day here today, a bit of sun sounds lovely. Sounds like baby is enjoying it as well with all their somersaults ☺️

MrsR16 · 10/06/2019 20:06

@purplefig it's my dating scan on Wednesday! I'll be 12 weeks by LMP, but I'm hoping they'll date me at 13, as I was measuring a week ahead at my 10 week scan 😊 xx

Delilah7 · 10/06/2019 20:08

@TrashKitten10 thank you darling x x

BostonFern · 10/06/2019 20:13

@Delilah7 how exciting! Not long until your cuddling your little one!

@TrashKitten10 let's do it! Lol. One of the students I teach was looking at me suspiciously last week, I'm sure she was trying to work out if I'd just eaten too much or if I'm pregnant 😂
Yes, lots of appointments and I'm still waiting for the one from the anaesthetist as I need to see them as well as cardiology 😬
The midwife told me to book in for the jab anytime from now, I went to reception to book it thinking it'd be weeks before they had an appointment but apparently not!

Crossfitgirl · 10/06/2019 20:30

@thumper59 I'm saying girl purely cos everyone else is saying boy. That's what everyone said to me, it really peed me off, then it was a girl haha.

@babysquid ooooh. Going off tea and coffee was an early symptom for me. I remember the end of my first tri nausea clearly... I just fancied a cuppa one day again at about 13 weeks, and the realisation that I wanted a cup of tea and my first trimester was over was elation!!

@mrsR16 oh good luck for the scan! The screenings are such personal choice. We decided not to have them, our personal reasons were ultimately we would rather not have the worry, and let nature take its course whatever happens. We didn't see the point in screening either, as only the actual invasive tests tell you for definite. If the screening came back high risk, we wouldn't want to go ahead with a proper test that came with a risk of MC if there was a chance the baby could be healthy, if that makes sense, so if it was high risk we would then just worry the entire pregnancy but the baby could be healthy all along and for me, that was not the best choice. Although is it the harmony test you can get done privately now that's very accurate and not invasive? Anyways. My MW said its approx 50 50 whether people do or don't, lots on here had the screening I think too, you just have to think through what you want and decide what you are happy with, as it all just depends on you and your own circumstances.

@bettythecat definitely trust your instincts :-) I'm glad you feel a lot better about it. Ooh I do love the lakes too, but it always rains when we go so I've fallen out with it! Haha!

@bostonfern never been to Gwithian beach! I shall put it on the list! We absolutely love Porthcurno beach near the minack theatre. I don't know what having ketones means but glad they've picked up on it. Nellie is cute! I think our little girl is going to be called Olivia. It's still our favourite!

OP posts:
thumper59 · 10/06/2019 20:43

@purplefig I have a ton of girl names and not one boys! I loved Rudy but OH doesn't like it at all 😫

@Crossfitgirl haha, aww I really don't mind either way! I've just been told boy so much I think I'll be shocked now if it's a girl 😂 not long to find out now though!

Delilah7 · 10/06/2019 20:57

@BostonFern scaredddddddddd xx

Bettythecat · 10/06/2019 21:06

@thumper59 that's how I feel about the name Iris- it's my favourite but DH not so keen. I think I'll basically just keep repeating it until she's born and hope it sticks (if it's a girl of course). Boys names I like are Arthur, Otis, Theodore (Teddy or Theo) and Stanley (I just think Stan is so cute!). I also love Freddie although not keen on Fredrick. Not everyone's cup of tea maybe but I quite like the old fashioned type names.

@Delilah7 That's soooo exciting! How many weeks will you be by then?

@TrashKitten10 thank you lovely- I just need to try to keep positive. Yep it's not exactly that positive, unlike here and the TTC thread, so much kindness and positivity on these pages!

@MrsR16 so exciting that your scan is soon. How are you feeling about it? Have you been able to enjoy the last two weeks knowing that your 10 week went well?

@Crossfitgirl We managed to have chosen that one freakishly good week end of Feb/beginning of March so it was glorious. It did rain a bit but we just did jigsaws and read our books when it was like that which is also quite liked 😊

Delilah7 · 10/06/2019 21:15

@Bettythecat 37 weeks on the dot!

thumper59 · 10/06/2019 21:32

@Bettythecat I love them names! Freddie is on our boy short list too. we've got Freddie and Frankie we both like, I love Alfie but feel it's a bit clashy with the last name. Iris is lovely. I loved Gracie and Nellie but Nellie has really got my heart- I've told him I really don't want to go with anything else I've fallen in love with it and can see us with a baby nell 😂

MrsR16 · 10/06/2019 22:09

@Crossfitgirl thanks, darling! I don't think I'm going to have the screening tests either... was talking to my mum earlier and she didn't have any tests with me or my siblings (all 4 of us!) even though she was warned that I was highly likely suffering with Down's syndrome and all sorts of learning difficulties. Then I was born and didn't even have asthma! Just shows the doctors can be so wrong sometimes. It makes me feel better knowing that lots of people don't actually have them, though, especially you ladies!

@Bettythecat I am very excited for my scan! Although the closer I get to it, the more petrified I get! It certainly helped having the early scan, but doesn't seem to have stopped me worrying over the last couple of days... I know it's just my mind going haywire, which I'm not used to, and it's silly - of course everything will be ok! There's a huge chance that it will be rather than it won't, I just wish my brain could realise that sometimes!

@Delilah7 I'm literally so excited for you to meet Ethan now! 😊 xx

Delilah7 · 11/06/2019 06:59

@MrsR16 I'm excited for you guys to meet him too!! Xxx
