Thank you. Just been talking to my hubs about it and he says they're on groupon all the time... low and behold I go have a look, £35 for one just round the corner from my work haha 😂 meant to be 🥰

TrashKitten10 · 03/06/2019 16:45

@stormtrooperjulian The mamas and papas event sounds great. We haven't got one anywhere near us and I can't find any information about if mothercare do something similar. We are not as far along as you but we've made a start on our list. Not buying anything until after the 20 week scan but I thought a bit of research wouldn't hurt :) it's definitely a minefield, clothing I'm finding the most confusing, what's the difference between a vest, bodysuit and sleep suit, they all look the same to me 😂

@DayDreamer1707 It's a horrible worry but it's good the EPU aren't concerned. Hopefully you get to see baby and put your mind at rest tomorrow.

@BabySquid Congratulations! Super news :) Did you have an inkling this month was the month or was it a surprise to get the BFP? We had an early scan at 8 weeks which I read is a good time as the baby should definitely have a heartbeat and be a bit more distinguishable at that stage. Our city seemed really expensive and I couldn't find any deals, think ours was nearly £100 but worth every penny :)

@MrsC87 Sounds like you're having a tough time of it you poor thing. Definitely get finished with work and put your feet up and rest before your induction.

@thumper59 I'm also really anxious to feel some movement. MIL has been asking me since about 8 weeks if I've felt it Hmm just a little reassurance wiggle would be lovely.

Has anyone else really suffered with burping during their pregnancy? I'm 17+4 and the burps seem to be getting worse by the day. I even (sadly) counted them on Saturday and I did 135 burps in one day 😂 occasionally I bring a bit of sick/acid up with them but normally it's just a burp. Is that heartburn? Is there anything I can take for it? I feel like a constantly deflating balloon 😩

BabySquid · 03/06/2019 16:50

@TrashKitten10 I had a feeling as I was giving up hope, and after my tests came back fine I thought it could be him... so he gave up caffeine and boom | | double lines.
We're planning on telling both parents on Father's Day, so the scan would be end of next week hopefully when I'm like 6+2/3. Do you think it will have a heartbeat by then??

MrsC87 · 03/06/2019 17:00

My hubby did the same @BabySquid crazy what caffeine can do!
@TrashKitten10 Thankyou, will do, only 2 more early morning get ups for work 😊

MrsC87 · 03/06/2019 17:02

@BabySquid it may be a little early to have a scan and if you did it would definitely be internal rather than abdominal ultrasound. Here's what mine showed at 7 weeks dead on x

@stormtrooperjulian good luck with prams! We tried out lots quite early which was definitely the right thing to do, ours should be coming tomorrow, eeeeek! Mothercare have a really good selection too (for the stores with us locally, Mama’s & Papa’s didn’t have as good a range). Definitely go with trying to put a shortlist rather than ‘pick one’, and try different ones out etc then read reviews, go try them again another day :) @TrashKitten10 Mothercare are hosting their Expectant Parent events at the moment - the Reading store has an evening next week I think for it, so check your local store! - where they have different sessions and offers etc. To be fair to Mothercare, the staff in store were bloody brilliant at showing us all the different prams when we went in and letting us try things out, have a play, etc and we popped back in a few times to narrow things down. The staff at ours were so helpful and knowledgable that we spoke to.

@DayDreamer1707 good luck for tomorrow morning hun, got my fingers crossed for you, that like the midwives said it can be very normal xx

@MrsC87 sorry to hear you’ve been struggling hun, and hope your work can bring forward your leave date so you can get some rest. Not long now - it’s come round very quick!

@BabySquid congratulations! We didn’t have an early scan, my feeling was that I’d feel relieved for that day, but then still be worrying that something could go wrong between the early scan and the 12 week scan. If you do have one, then you would probably want to wait to at least 7 to 8 weeks from LMP to be able to see the heartbeat (even if you think your dates are spot-on, implantation can vary by 5 to 10 days so you could easily be a week out without realising). Usually early ones too can’t be done via your tummy, they’d have to ‘go up’ and do an internal scan that early on.

@BabySquid they’ll soon start kicking away :) to begin with the movements are quite delicate, you almost don’t realise they’re ‘kicks’ they’re more like being tapped or nudged almost.

@TrashKitten10 oh gosh yes with you on the burping, not as bad as that thankfully but as someone that doesn’t really burp particularly normally, it’s been crazy with what I think of as really big ones lol! That does sound like heartburn - do you almost feel ’tight’ in your chest as well? I went and got some Gaviston Double Action which the pharmacist highly recommended to help!

Popped to town at lunch time today and got some cute little bits from Baby Gap in the sale, and also picked up some essentials from Primark (muslins) and for hospital bag.

Super excited for our pram that should be coming tomorrow!

Also looks like the wardrobe/2nd half of the wardrobe should now be coming next Monday, at least something is due to be delivered by them now - hopefully the chap will confirm tomorrow as he’s back to work and should be ringing me. He put an order in on Friday for a whole other full wardrobe as well as the missing box, in case it was quicker.

Tempted to pop to Ikea after work today - I feel like I have energy still and kinda want to take advantage whilst I still do, lol.

Sorry this has turned into a proper long essay hasn't it, oops!!

Fivebyfive2 · 03/06/2019 18:27

@babysquid, congratulations on your bfp!! 😃 We're thinking of having an early scan, but at 9 weeks (this weekend!) before we go on holiday so I feel a bit reassured before we go away!

@Trashkitten10, omg the burping!! Mine are epic, especially in the morning 😂

BabySquid · 03/06/2019 21:02

Aaaaah so we've just been reading on their website that the earliest they do is 7 weeks. So it'll have to wait till after next week anyway.

TrashKitten10 · 04/06/2019 06:05

@BabySquid Wow, that's amazing all it took was giving up caffeine. Telling parents on Father's Day sounds a lovely idea, will you still do that now you have to wait a little longer for your scan or are you going to delay it a bit?

@EltzBee Ahh yes, I've just looked and found our local one is next Thursday. 6-9pm, is it sad I looked and thought 'there is NO way I will be able to make it until 9pm on a Thursday night' The second trimester energy has definitely not hit 😴 I suppose you can just attend for some of it though, or I may just wait for my original plan of dragging DH around all the baby shops the weekend after our 20 week scan :)

@Fivebyfive2 @EltzBee Glad I'm not the only one burping Blush DH has said pregnancy has turned me into shrek haha. I'll try the gaviscon or ask the pharmacist for some advice. I'm not sure about the tight chest, it's definitely tight and uncomfortable before I need to burp but probably not constantly. But I guess burping 135 times a day is pretty close to constant Grin oh the glamour!

BabySquid · 04/06/2019 09:04

@TrashKitten10 yes we will, I'm just excited that I have something to look forward to. And it'll put my mind at ease.

Question... does anyone use flo? I used it as a period tracker then obvs it changed to pregnancy mode on Friday when I input my + but now it's wanting me to add my period dates?? I'll try attach pics below... one is today, one is tomorrow...
yesterday when I was looking, it let me go forward to Feb and it was all in yellow (preg mode) with pics of what it would look like.
Is anyone else's doing this???

@TrashKitten10 I think you can just pop in for a bit! But honestly we found that the staff in our local one were so helpful when we just went in a few times and made time for us to do demo's etc. We took advantage of some other offers when we ordered furniture, mattresses and bedding etc, and ordered our pram from the baby show we went to in the end. I think on the night they sometimes do different offers like 10% off but they have different promo's throughout the year anyway!

Waiting for a text to say what hour the pram should be coming today, eek! DH is working from home today as well, wonder if I can persuade him to help build it at lunch time or right after work if it isn't til the afternoon haha!

Bettythecat · 04/06/2019 11:05

Hi all, tentatively dipping my toe into this board. Got my BFP last Thursday but after my mmc earlier this year I'm trying not to get carried away. I'm around 5 weeks I think now... no nausea yet but my boobs have grown and have had other minor symptoms like constipation and increased CM. Everything seems to come and go though which I'm trying not to overthink. I was quite symptom free last time too so trying not to draw negative parallels! Secretly hoping my nausea will kick in soon so I can feel a bit more reassured! Hope you're all doing good- seems like there is a real mix of people at different stages 😊

DayDreamer1707 · 04/06/2019 11:37

Hi all, had my appointment and I haven't had a MC. Basically it's good and bad news I suppose. They can only see the yolk sac, so the baby has either not developed or I'm not as far on as I thought 🤷🏼‍♀️. I have to go back in 10 days to see if anything has moved on. Going to be the longest 10 days of my life!!! 😩

EltzBee · 04/06/2019 11:48

@Bettythecat lovely to see you again and congrats on the BFP. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. The early weeks are weird of feeling totally normal and some days almost like pms, so it sounds like you're experiencing the normal things with them coming and going too.

@DayDreamer1707 fingers crossed for you for the next 10 days - the early scans can be hard for them to see anything so please try and keep positive, hopefully after another week and a bit things will have developed and they'll be able to see - even knowing the ovulation date the implantation date can vary so much!

MrsEG · 04/06/2019 12:01

@DayDreamer1707 Was thinking of you this morning lovely! Early scans can vary so so much, and it’s great you’re not miscarrying and that they see the yolk sac. 10 days will feel like a lifetime but it will pass soon enough and hopefully it will have given enough time to see something clearly for you! I would say try not to worry, but I know it will be impossible - but instead just try to relax and know you are doing all you can do. I’m keeping everyone crossed that you get great news in just over a weeks time xxx

MrsR16 · 04/06/2019 12:28

@BabySquid I use Flo and haven't seen that! Obviously you were tracking your periods before, so i don't know why it's asked for the date of your last period again! Weird!

@Bettythecat congratulations!!

@DayDreamer1707 that's great news that you haven't miscarried! I have everything crossed for you that the next 10 days go super quick and everything's ok 🤞🤞

Ladies I am in need of your knowledge! I've always suffered with horribly bad skin. When I first got my BFP, my skin started clearing up and I was super excited! Now it's just back to how it was before, if not worse! Does anyone have any tips on products that I can use to help? I can't use my normal stuff at the moment, which makes life ten times harder... xx

Bettythecat · 04/06/2019 13:08

@EltzBee @MrsR16 - thanks so much ladies. Hoping it goes ok this time round although can't help symptom (or lack of) spotting! I've been lurking on a Feb 2019 due date board too and it seems that some other ladies also haven't got much in the way of symptoms yet though so taking a bit of reassurance from that.

@DayDreamer1707 it must be so stressful and worrying for you. It's so hard but try to keep busy over the next 10 days and plan fun things to do to keep your mind off it. Got everything crossed for you that it will be good news when you go back.

EltzBee · 04/06/2019 13:10

@MrsR16 feel for you, when I came off the pill my skin got bad again throughout the month, and then in the first trimester it was awful with painful spots!

I usually use acne facewash but not all the ingredients are listed as okay for pregnancy, so had the same dilemma.

I switched early on to la roche posay toleriane: www.feelunique.com/c/la-roche-posay-toleriane which is safe during pregnancy and is very, very gently - it helped get my skin manageable, didn't strip it and also is very good at removing makeup if you do wear it at all. The moisturiser and night cream are also very gently, not heavy and don't clog the pores.

Now that it's back, I still use the La Roche Posay if I wear make up followed by my normal routine.

My day-to-day skin care I'm now using Body Shop Green Tea Foaming Cleanser (www.thebodyshop.com/en-gb/face/cleansers-toners/tea-tree-skin-clearing-foaming-cleanser/p/p000811), and then every two to three days, I use the Body Shop Seaweed exfoliator (www.thebodyshop.com/en-gb/face/face-scrubs-exfoliators/seaweed-pore-cleansing-exfoliator/p/p000948) for one wash.

I also have switched to using cool water (not hot) and I don't dry my face with a towel or anything (I'll dry around my eyes!). It's now pretty clear - which considering I think I now have a very low maintenance routine I'm pretty pleased with; I had one very grumpy spot the other week which cleared quite quickly. I also use sudocreme on them overnight if I do get the occasional one pop up, which really helps with healing them quickly.

I would say routine is the key, and also not over washing or over exfoliating. If you can get your skin back in balance (it will take a couple weeks, as spots take a while to 'come out') then from my experience it's definitely possible to get it back on track xx

Tropicana1 · 04/06/2019 14:58

@BabySquid @Bettythecat congratulations on the BFPs!!

@DayDreamer1707 sorry you have an anxious 10 day wait - I'm optimistic for your timings just being different. When I had my 6 week scan I was 6+3 according to my dates but they scanned me as more like 5+5 on the size of the foetal pole plus heartbeat so hopefully you're just scanning behind your dates :)

stormtrooperjulian · 04/06/2019 16:32

@BabySquid congratulations! I had a scan at 7+4, paid £90 I think. Saw a little blob with a heartbeat.

@thumper59 I’ve felt great since around 14 weeks so don’t be worried just because you’re feeling good now. I’m 24 weeks now and still feel great.

@TrashKitten10 I have no idea what the difference is between the clothing items either! I thought babies just wore baby gros but I guess it’s more complicated than that 😂

@Bettythecat congratulations!

@DayDreamer1707 that must be so worrying for you. Hopefully the next 10 days will pass quickly and you’ll get good news at your next scan. Try to stay positive!

DayDreamer1707 · 04/06/2019 16:43

Thanks ladies all sooo much. I've done the usual and looked into it MASSIVELY and it's very common for dates to be mixed up and I suppose we all know that pregnancy is boot text book. Just glad that I'm not having miscarriage and the pregnancy does look healthy xx

MrsR16 · 04/06/2019 18:05

@EltzBee thanks so much hun!! 😊

So I had a call from my sister at lunchtime today. She is unexpectedly pregnant! She is so shell shocked - she wasn't trying and she was on the pill! She felt horrendous because she didn't want to steal my thunder! I'm quite liking having a pregnancy buddy though! She's already got 2 girls, so she'll be great 😊 how typical though? Haha!

Fivebyfive2 · 04/06/2019 18:53

@DayDreamer1707, so glad it wasn't a miscarriage, but I do feel your pain having to wait 10 days. I'll be thinking of you! You'll be so worried of course, it's just natural, but try to stay positive and look after yourself xxx

@MrsR16, that's awesome about your sister!! Pregnancy buddies sounds like a solid plan 😃

Well ladies... Private scan booked for Saturday afternoon , should be 8 weeks and 6 days!! Mostly excited, but a bit scared too... Will let you know how it goes!!

EltzBee · 04/06/2019 20:21

@MrsR16 hope it helps 😊 oh wow about your sister, what timing!

Our neighbor told us on the weekend they're expecting their second, they are 7 weeks behind us.

EltzBee · 04/06/2019 20:23

Oh and pram arrived today 😊😊😊 eeeeek!
