@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil good luck! I'm also freezing sat at my desk. Getting so nervous about the scan now

Farmmum7 · 07/05/2019 14:02

@BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil when did you get your first scan? I'm so impatient I just want to see its really there!!

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 07/05/2019 15:25

@Farmmum7 I was originally scheduled for last Friday when I would have been 14w from LMP (which was the date that was on the system) but really 11+6, but as Ive been in and out of EPU they rebooked me for 17th when I will really be 13+6.

My older kids are 11, 10 and 8.5 now so its been a while since I was in the maternity system, but I do seem to remember them liking you to be more around 13 weeks. That might just be my hospital though.

Baby all fine, have a lovely picture of arms waving and she wouldnt stop wiggling to be measured... and they still have no idea why bleeding, but its nice to be past that 12 week mark with the mc statistics on my side. touches wood just in case... Wink

Leleophants · 07/05/2019 16:05

Don't worry @preggodaurus Im never on the list! Don't really get it haha.

Rotorua · 07/05/2019 16:16

@BobbySD345

Sounds just like the sonographer I had. My scan started on time though, but I was also soaking in gel and my stomach was pressed so hard (she said it's because of my retroverted uterus) that she even mentioned at the end her hand is hurting 🙄
My early private scan was so much different. Hopefully the 20 week one is similar to the private one 🤞🏻

Pollypocket5 · 07/05/2019 16:29

Hi ladies,

Looking for some advise. I went for my 12 week scan today and they said that the fluid on the back of the neck is out of the normal measurement. Should be 3.5 but mine was 4.6. I have been referred to a consultant for more tests. The baby was wriggling all over the baby place so I'm trying trying to stay positive.

Has anyone else been through this?

LKH27 · 07/05/2019 16:54

That was THE most amazing experience ever. Had the scan today. Such a wriggly and active baby. All looked good. Don't know why I was scared now!
And I've been put ahead of what I thought. I thought I was 12+5, turns out I'm 13+5 so I'm even happier! :D

PyjamasForever · 07/05/2019 18:54

@Pollypocket5 lots of healthy children are born to people who have high NT measurements, it's just one of the many things that might hint to other issues. Has anyone spoken to you about the other tests that they'll offer yet?

Is anyone else suffering hip pain yet? For the last 2 days after about half an hour walking I start to get pain in my lower back around my hips. Seems far too early for PGD.

Mintypea5 · 07/05/2019 19:03

@Pollypocket5 try stay positive lovely. They can do further testing but that's only one of the many tests which can indicate issues. I've read lots of cases where baby is totally fine and healthy despite a high measurement. Sending you lots of love

We had a fantastic scan! Massive wiggle bum. I was very nervous because of previous loss at this exact stage on same due date so they were lovely. 12+5!

Told family and they're over the moon. Eldest DS is very excited but wants a sister this time

JoJoSaysHello · 07/05/2019 19:48

I also had my 12 week scan today - measuring three days ahead of where I thought I was. I couldn't believe how much baby was moving. Means the scan photo isn't the clearest but never mind.

I wasn't told anything about the fluid on the back of the neck measurement - just that I'll get my results in about a weeks time.

Looking forward to twenty week scan already!

TrashKitten10 · 07/05/2019 20:26

@LKH27 Snap! I'm also 13+5 today. Due date of 6th November. My app dates don't tie up with that which throws me off a bit but I'll go with what the sonographer said.

@Pollypocket5 There is an 'antenatal tests' board which might be helpful, lots of posts on there from people who are in or have been in similar situations with NT results outside the normal range. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

Mintypea5 · 07/05/2019 21:24

@JoJoSaysHello I asked what my fluid measurement was but I think if it's in the normal ranges they don't usually tell you until you get the results through. I was just feeling jumpy so the lacy doing my scan told me mime was 1.3

Pollypocket5 · 08/05/2019 08:20

Thankyou so much for your support ladies. I have an app with the consultant on Tuesday.

The Sonographer was horrible and her last words to us was as we have given you bad news your pictures are free! We are going to a total different hospital on Tuesday so hoping for a better experience.

Mintypea5 · 08/05/2019 09:19

@Pollypocket5 that's shocking!!! I'm sorry you had to experience that. Fingers crossed that seeing the consultant will make you feel better. They offer a range of tests I think but I've heard that lots of people get a lot a of reassurance from the harmony test. It's not cheap (£400) I think but I know a lot of people who get bad news decide it's worth paying for and find actually everything is fine. Sending you lots of love

Otto8 · 08/05/2019 11:10

Pollypocket, just wanted to say that at our scan with our previous pregnancy our baby’s NT measurement was 6mm so they fast tracked my bloods and within 2 hours I was told I had 1:6 Edwards. We were then offered the Harmony test and CVS - I accepted both. The CVS was at a different hospital the next day. Are they making you wait till Tuesday now? I found the waiting and not knowing so hard, try to speak with the screening midwife team and they may discuss the Harmony test with you. (Though that only tests for the 3 most common trisomies)
Unfortunately for us our baby did have Edwards but there were some markers on the scan other than the NT measurement which pointed towards this. Just take one day at a time xx

Pollypocket5 · 08/05/2019 11:57

@Otto8 Thankyou so much for sharing your experience. Yes we have an app with a consultant who will do the more in-depth scan on Tuesday. From there we will then be offered diagnostic tests.

What is the difference between CVS and amnio or are they the same? I'm trying to remain positive but it's so hard!

If you don't mind me asking what were your other indicators? Was this picked up at your normal scan or afterwards.

@Mintypea5 Thankyou so much, we have everything crossed and really hoping everything is ok.

Otto8 · 08/05/2019 13:55

The 12 week scan picked up hydrops and a cystic hygroma. Also at the more detailed scan the next day the consultant noticed a hernia. So we were expecting Edwards.

I think the CVS is offered up to about 14weeks and takes a small sample of cells from the placenta. The amino is offered after 14 weeks and tests a small amount of the amniotic fluid. I’m no expert, but they are both diagnostic and test all chromosomes I believe.

Have you had your blood test results yet? I also had a low Beta HCG or Papp A (can’t remember which!) xx

Pollypocket5 · 08/05/2019 14:26

@Otto8 I am so sorry for what you went through and Thankyou so much for sharing this. I haven't had my bloods back yet. She didn't mention anything else on the scan just the thick NT. she said that all of this doesn't mean there is something wrong but it's procedure.

I also had my bloods taken to be screened for any infections. I'm really trying to stay positive but it's so hard! I was hoping the scan would put my mind at ease but it's making me worry beyond belief.

We have a detailed scan and yes then we will be offered the amnio which I believe we will go for. x

bearface45 · 08/05/2019 17:32

Had my scan today so it finally feels real now i’ve finally seen the baby, much more exciting! Took 3 trips to the scan room to get a decent view for measurements though - Due 14th November. Just waiting for the test results now x

Mintypea5 · 08/05/2019 18:12

@bearface45 same due date! Glad the scan went well

bearface45 · 08/05/2019 18:52

Thank you and congrats on your 14th November-er too! I imagine i’ll go over like last time probably x

Mintypea5 · 08/05/2019 19:38

@bearface45 DS1 was 2 weeks late (induction) and DS2 was 38 week induction for reduced movements but I imagine if there's no need to bring early then I'll go over. I've only ever had inductions do kinda scared about the idea of labour coming on in its own time

bearface45 · 08/05/2019 20:04

I was 9 days late, daughter very nearly born on living room floor, long and complicated story but ended up being delivered in an ambulance by the community midwife, further complications and retained placenta once arrived at hospital. Not really a birth story I wish to repeat!

Prequelle · 08/05/2019 20:08

Got my scan dates through the post today, I have one every month! Bit sad that DP won't be able to come to them all but he has been to the 12 week one and will be at the 20 week one so that will have to do.

Mintypea5 · 08/05/2019 20:54

@Prequelle that's exciting! We got our 20 week date at our scan. Day before DS2 birthday. I have growth scans too so expect I'll get those through soon too
