Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

@Comps83 mine isn't until June 6th!

Emmilou82 · 23/05/2019 10:46

Feeling a bit edgy today as my nausea has subsided and I don't feel really tired this morning..... I keep prodding my boobs to make sure that they still hurt but I can't help whittling about it..... stroll on 12 week scan 😩

GrannyClanger · 23/05/2019 11:54

@Emmilou82 I’m sure it’s fine, my symptoms have really subsided over the past few days,I'm just enjoying not feeling sick all the time! Got my 12 wk scan on the 11th June, feels like ages away! I’ve got lots of lovely things coming up over the next few weeks so I’m hoping that will make the time pass quicker. Anyone else been having really vivid dreams?

Emmilou82 · 23/05/2019 12:00

@GrannyClanger yeah I should make the most of it..... it's quiet at work so I'm sat at my desk studying lol. Saves trying to battle it at home at night when I'm exhausted!

Got baby brain though and nothing is sinking in it..... it's going to take me a while 😂

Grace90 · 23/05/2019 12:08

Hi Everyone, hope you don’t mind me jumping in. Was just having a read and it’s nice to know I’m not the only worrier! Congratulations to everyone btw!
I’m looking for a bit of advice maybe even reassurance... I had a miscarriage or failed pregnancy early on, in March. I got pregnant straight away afterwards (accident) which makes my due date 24.12.19 (we think) I haven’t got a last period to go by, but I had a reassurance scan and I was 8+3, thankfully there was a heartbeat and everything looked good 🙏🏼 I’m now 9+2 so my midwife added on the 2 weeks that would normally be added on with last period so I can get a 12 growth scan sooner rather than later!

But I’m panicking now because last night I got this awful pain in my abdomen and my back then went all shivery, I felt ok soon after but today I’ve got cramps in my back and twinges in the front (should mention I have a tilted uterus 🙄 and fibromyalgia 🙄) so I’m hoping that’s got something to do with it! But I don’t feel sick this morning which is strange, it might be in my head but my boobs feel less tender 😩 I’m going out of my mind 🤪 no bleeding which I’m just clinging on to!!
Anyone else get bad(ish) pain at this stage?

Really sorry about this being long winded, I really needed to get it off my chest 😆 and family and husband are great but I think they don’t know what to say!

Thanks in advance 💓

NapsAndTea · 23/05/2019 12:42

@Emmilou82 my symptoms seem to have disappeared too ... my friend had the same and was fine at her 12 week scan yesterday so sure we'll be fine! X

Emmilou82 · 23/05/2019 14:20

The tiredness has re appeared so I think the nausea has just settled a little today 😬 work is soooo boring, I just to go home and sleep!!

Got loads of ironing that I just keep avoiding and I'm sick of going food shopping lol my taste changes everyday and I fancy different things 🙈 it's costing a fortune lol

TDLO · 23/05/2019 14:38

@Grace90 congratulations and welcome. 😊 I'm around 9+3 and having pain, like a knitting needle jagging through my womb back and forwards. Mostly at right side, quite low, but sometimes at left side. I genuinely believe it's growth but I'm also naturally anxious. I called early pregnancy unit and they said it sounds completely normal, but I had a loss in Jan (sympathies to you on your loss x) so they know I'm really paranoid and booked me for a scan this Saturday which I'm incredibly grateful for. I'm not doubled in pain, it's kind of constant but catches my breath sometimes. Spoke to two other pregnant ladies who are a few weeks ahead of me and they said that they had exactly the same thing. This did help put my mind at ease. Though it's still very unnerving, especially with previous loss.

If you're worried at all, call your local early pregnancy unit (epas) they are brilliant and have the patience of saints. They are used to panicked mums to be calling for reassurance.

Good luck with everything xx

Grace90 · 23/05/2019 14:51

Hi @TDLO thanks for the reply!
I’m sorry for your loss too, Mother Nature can be a B!! Also Congrats too 🙌🏼
Any pain, my mind goes straight to that experience, no matter how positive I try to be!
That’s what I feel like, the stabbing pains. The ache in my back seems to have gotten better today, I’m lucky that I can work from home if needed so I have vegetated on the couch today, seems to have helped!

I’m going to have a look in my folder and see what numbers I have! You’ve definitely put my mind at ease so thank you! Although you don’t want other people to be worrying and going through a difficult time, it’s nice to know there’s people that can relate!

I’ll keep an eye out for any scans or updates and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!! X

Funnybunnyfluff · 23/05/2019 16:49

@Grace90 @TDLO

I'm understanding this kind of sharp pain your talking about. I have had it the last couple of days on my right hand side. Mainly when I'm laying down.
Sounds like it might be normal, I feel fine and my scan on Monday was all good. So I'm not going to worry to much.
Keep smiling 😁

TDLO · 23/05/2019 17:13

@Grace90 sounds good, glad to have helped a bit 😊 let's hang in there! Will let you know how I go on Saturday.

@Funnybunnyfluff good to know that it feels normal and great to hear your scan was good. The more I'm reading and hearing has really reassured me. Didn't think of all these wee twinges with things growing and how worrying they might be beforehand.

Grace90 · 23/05/2019 17:21

@funnybunnyfluff glad to hear your scan was all good 👏🏼 Seems as though these pains are quite common 👍🏼 Doesn’t stop you worrying though does it, these forums are great to get a bit of piece of mind!
@TDLO will look out for your post! Yes, no one really talks about the first 12 weeks do they! They’re the worst 😆 but then you feel guilty for moaning because you’re so grateful for being pregnant 🙄 can’t win!

TDLO · 23/05/2019 17:33

Yes exactly. It's a total catch 22. And I am so grateful, I honestly just didn't think it would happen for us again, took a year the first time. Will be glad to reach 12 weeks lol.

Funnybunnyfluff · 23/05/2019 19:06

It is true, I'm so happy and thought it would s never happen but feel like I'm a moany grumpy cow at the moment.

This is our first so I have no idea what to expect. My poor husband is being brilliant with me I feel like I need to say sorry to him.

Mamabear12 · 23/05/2019 20:10

I’m now thinking about French onion soup and cake. Wish I could have both. Need to figure out where to get the soup tomo! Cravings lol. Who else is having cravings? Hope everyone is starting to feel better. Sometimes I feel a little off in evenings. But sleep helps that 😀

Next week I’ve got my booking, 10 week and harmony test! Big week.

Emmilou82 · 23/05/2019 20:52

I'm not sure if I'm having cravings per se but I don't fancy things more than I did.... I know that's kind of what cravings are but with my son, I craved apple juice with ice through a straw and cheese and pineapple sandwiches! I'm not having those kind of 'must have' cravings yet

December2019 · 23/05/2019 21:33

I'm craving salt & vinegar chipsticks.... I just cannot stop eating them 😳
It was mars bars with my son, I ate about 5 a day towards the end of my pregnancy and I HAD to eat them a certain way! Eat all the chocolate off the sides and then the top and then the fudgey bit in the middle, if I done it wrong (snapped in half) I had to have another one 🤯 it's strange what our bodies do isn't it

Funnybunnyfluff · 23/05/2019 22:13

@December2019

Oh wow I have had the same craving of chipsticks.

I made a special trip to marks and Spencer's yesterday to buy them as they are really strong and a good 50g bag 😂😂!

Keep eating pickled onions for a jar also... I must smell amazing lol

Mamabear12 · 24/05/2019 00:04

Feeling hungry again. I already had a snack after dinner bc I was hungry and now I’m hungry again! Argh. It’s frustrating to go to bed hungry. I guess it doesn’t help that I’m awake w jet lag. Hmm mars bar sounds good now! Tomorrow I’m going grocery shopping and will load up on some goodies. I’m also craving Greek yogurt with honey.

@Funnybunnyfluff that's crazy how we have the same craving 😂... must be the salt they are so tasty I'm eating a pack now too haha

Mamabear12 · 24/05/2019 13:24

That may be why I'm craving French onion soup. Its salty with lots of flavour. I read a lot of women crave pickle or salty or sour type foods. Unfortunately, I did not get my soup. I am not sure where to get it so I might have to make it! My kids requested spaghetti bolognese, so I am making that instead and my soup will have to wait lol. Only have the energy to cook one meal today (have eaten, a wrap, smoothie and about to have a pita with avocado and another smoothie). Last night I was so hungry I had a bowl of cereal at midnight, but that did the trick and I was satisfied after.

I am really looking forward to next week, as the early stages always feels like forever. I am a littler nervous though before going in for scans at the early stages. I hope everything is developing well and is as should be. I was told I had a cyst so I am hoping its shrunk or gone away, as I get worried about these things (I know it seems common though, but i read if cyst grows then it might have to be removed surgically!).

How is everyone feeling? I had a 3 hour nap this morning thanks to jet lag and now having a coffee. Feel a bit bad because I have so much to do (laundry) and house stuff, but jet lag makes me so tired when I return from USA. So hard to function, especially when I am growing a little human as well lol. I still notice if I forget to eat in time, I start feeling sick. There have been a few times that suddenly I feel a little sick and upset tummy, when I realise its been 4 hours since last eating, so have to force myself to have some food to feel better. I should just carry an alarm that goes off every 3 hours to remind me to have a snack! Lol.

Anyone else have a scan coming up next week? Or booking in appointment? Hope everyone is well! My uterus is growing and I can feel it at lower part of belly. My husband felt it too. Basically it feels hard when you press.

@Mamabear12 you should deffo make yourself some of that oniony goodness!!
Urghh yeah I feel sooo sick if I don't eat I'm exhausted too... my 5 month old isn't really one for letting me sleep! He's so full on 😂
Yeah I've got my 12 week scan next Wednesday.. I'll only be 10+6 though so I'm presuming I'll have to go again, I did the first time I was too early I was measuring at 11+5 so I was 2 days out so I had a re scan I didn't complain though I loved seeing my little person on that screen 😍

BiddyPop · 24/05/2019 13:47

Congratulations all, I love seeing Christmas babies! (DD was EDD 25th Dec, and arrived in the early hours on 26th, so at least she has a separate day for a birthday!).

December2019 · 24/05/2019 14:13

Haha my LO was born on the 23rd.. I brought him home Christmas Eve evening so my first morning waking up to his little beautiful face was Christmas Day and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect gift 😊 his due date was the 19th
With this pregnancy my due date is also the 19th December 😂... I think I can only make Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 24/05/2019 14:55

December2019 oh my, you must be exhausted with a 5 month old to look after. Why do they book you in so early for a 12 week scan? You would think they would know you would be too early! But like you said, the more scans you get to see your baby :)

Btw has anyone thought about doing a sweep towards the end, to bring on baby earlier (as this sometimes gets the labour process started). I have never done one, as I am too scared (have 2 dc), but my friend did and said her baby arrived the next day! I love the idea of an xmas baby, but to be honest, I am afraid that the hospital will be short on staff, and I want to make sure to have epidural!!!!
