Christmas babies

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

@peasando !! Yay! Looks great! 😁😁 According to the app I'm on I'll be 5 weeks on Saturday so I think I'll do my Clearblue test on either Saturday or Sunday morning. I did another FR yesterday (why is it that you regret peeing on the stick as soon as you've done it?! I was terrified it would be faded!) the test line ended up being darker than the control!

peasando · 17/04/2019 07:25

@RLI1105 I'm so glad I'm not the only one still poas! 😂😂

EmeraldRubyShark · 17/04/2019 07:34

I’m probably imagining it cos it’s so early but I do feel really emotionally up and down this past few days, things I’d normally take calmly have enraged me, and I’m crying at the silliest things. For example yesterday I cried in the morning because of the Notre Dam, then late afternoon because I felt lonely as my OH was having such a long poo, and then last night I cried cos I was messaging my friend saying how being newly pregnant has only increased the strength of my belief that abortion care is available to every woman and it devastates me that it isn’t. Now I’m tearful reading a random post from someone saying they might have their baby on xmas day 😂

It’s probably less the hormones and more just the anxiety and stress of this early period, I’m not an anxious person usually in the slightest but I guess these stakes are high! I just want it all to be okay but it’s so comforting everyone else is feeling the anxiety too.

I’m five weeks today btw, so if something goes wrong now it’ll be classed as a miscarriage not a chemical pregnancy, a miscarriage calculator told me my chances have decreased quite a bit just from making it to today so I’m celebrating the little apple seed sticking so well so far 🎉🎉

EmeraldRubyShark · 17/04/2019 07:39

I’m sure missing caffeine though. Even though a small amount is deemed safe I’m skipping it entirely just for these early months. I’m normally someone who sinks a 500ml can or even two of monster per day plus black coffees at work and lattes when I’m out. I’ve gone cold turkey as soon as I found out, weirdly I feel fine. I guess as my intake was sporadic I didn’t get dependent, some days I’d have loads and some none. But I’m finding myself almost automatically going to stop the car outside the shop for an energy drink and then realising I can’t haha. It’ll be fun trying to hide it from friends over the next few months, why I’m getting decaf!

diplodoco · 17/04/2019 07:55

@EmeraldRubyShark I know what you mean about the crying. I cried in the garden centre the other day just because I looked at my OH and Ds sat together and then I cried in Dumbo at the cinema 3 times! OH thought I'd lost the plot! Grin

Comps83 · 17/04/2019 07:55

I’m slowly realising I’m having to give up all my favourite things
Coke Zero
Beer
Soft Cheese
Tea
A long hot soak on the bath

December2018 · 17/04/2019 07:59

@EmeraldRubyShark I'm an emotional wreck 😂
Every time my baby laughs, I cry with happiness, every single thing he does makes me cry with happiness 😂... although his farts arnt as enjoyable if I'm honest, I wasn't sick last time but it's hitting me hard this time 🤢

I'm still running to the loo every 2 minutes feeling like I've started AF (I was exactly the same last time)

And I've just bought 30 eBay cheap teats just so I can see that little beautiful line get darker

December2018 · 17/04/2019 08:02

Ohhh I'm a monster fan too!
They have been keeping me sane (alive) with a 4 month old
I had lucozade last time just to give me a boost... not all the time mind just every now and then

December2018 · 17/04/2019 08:04

@Comps83 I had tea right thru my pregnancy it was the only thing I enjoyed, it's supposed to affect birth weight but my little boy was a 8lbs chunk haha and he's 16lbs now lol

December2018 · 17/04/2019 08:06

My little chunky bum... this was 6 weeks ago too

Finally took a clear blue date rest this morning. I think I'm ready to believe I'm cooking something.

Boobs are very sore and heavy. I'm already very chesty anyway a 30h normally, so I've no idea what I'm going to do if they get bigger. I've lots of nausea and cramping too.

We're not telling anyone right now, but I'm desperate to tell my parents. It was very strange being out with friends last night and drinking tonic water. I just told a little lie and said I was on Antibiotics, but they knew something wasn't right.

peasando · 17/04/2019 09:00

@Comps83 I'm still having a cup of tea every morning, it's ok in moderation! Also most decaf tea is pretty good these days, it's hard to tell the difference.

Mamabear12 · 17/04/2019 09:32

RLI1105 Oh wow, even patients taking certain medications? Why is that? For example if they are taking the medication in their system is it so strong that it could effect you? Or is it handling the medication? I would definitely let work know in your case. I let me work know early on (at least my boss). I’m not working now so now won’t tell anyone. Except maybe our cleaning lady as she uses chemicals to clean so I need to have her use safe products and open windows to air out when using chemicals to clean the toilet.

Today I’m back home so need to go buy more vitamins etc for pregnancy!

@RLI1105 I think I agree with @Mamabear12 , if your work has the potential to cause problems is there any way you could just tell your boss without telling everyone?

I can't talk though, I'm not planning to tell work for ages. With DS I was up for promotion, there were two places and it was down to me and two others. I was getting all the right feedback etc and then I told my boss I was pregnant - two days later I was told they were promoting the other two and not me. It might have had nothing to do with the pregnancy but it left a bad taste in my mouth! So this time I've stubbornly decided to hold out until it's too obvious to keep quiet any more, just to annoy them!

MrsAshxo · 17/04/2019 09:57

@RLI1105 I feel like I'm so obviously pregnant it's unreal. Like everyone is just going to look at me and know because I do love a drink/party and we have a few things booked in - gigs etc that I'm planning excuses for why I'm not drinking. I'm convinced my mum knows too. She knows everything 😂 .

@EmeraldRubyShark I had 3 major breakdowns (one of which I was leaving my husband - for a pathetic reason) in the last few weeks allll before I knew I had a little flump on my tummy so I'm sure you aren't wrong to think you're being emotional. I felt very sick yesterday and I put it down to the heat and my brain giving me psychological nausea ... till 8pm when the most horrrendoussss projectile vomiting started. I was violently sick 3 times before I ended up in bed with the shakes and a bucket next to the bed. My husband looked traumatised for me. Xoxo

Mamabear12 · 17/04/2019 10:30

MrsAshxo Yikes, that sounds tough! How far along are you? I’m praying that I have an easy pregnancy like my first two. I have a phobia of vomiting 😳 so it would be hell. I felt a tiny bit sick as plane was getting ready for landing. But also bc they do all these annoying turns! It’s like just land the freaking plane!!!

I have another flight to go on in a few weeks. I’m hoping it’s smooth.

@Mamabear12 I'm 4 weeks, I'm hoping I just ate something dodgy yesterday and that wasn't my first glimpse of Nausea / Morning sickness. I'm a first timer so this is all crazy.

We go on holiday is September and I'm already panicking about what I'll eat in Cyprus and what the diary situation is 😂🤰!

I hope you have a very easy pregnancy too, surely if the first two where anything to go by you'll stick to form?! Xox

RLI1105 · 17/04/2019 15:21

@Mamabear12 @peasando The medication which generally cause you the most problems are chemotherapy. Mainly just from handling them but I think in some cases it can be excretion to. I would never be handling chemo anyway and we have not had someone in receiving it for months and months. Because I go off for my wedding two weeks today and I'm off for a month, it'll just be the next two weeks i need to keep my head down. I also happen to work on the most fertile unit in Britain! There are currently 8 people either on Nat leave or will be soon. There's obviously a chair!

@MrsAshxo My mum lives back where I grew up but I'm also conceived that when she sees me she'll know! She won't take no for an answer either!

I'm having a rubbish day today. I should be asleep (I'm between night shifts) but I'm tossing and turning and feeling really negative. I have just done a test to calm my nerves and I don't think it's as dark as it should be. I keep reading about how because of my luteal phase I may not produce enough progesterone which can lead to an early loss. Christmas, hell - NEXT WEEK, just feels like an awful long way away.

ELJ1502 · 17/04/2019 15:45

Horrendous nausea today. Any tips or tricks to help?

peasando · 17/04/2019 15:58

@ELJ1502 I'm making it through the afternoon with plain rice cakes and lots of water...

Mamabear12 · 17/04/2019 16:07

I heard some people use the wrist bands used for sea sickness. There are also loads of ginger biscuits, drops, morning sickness teas etc.

I am not as hungry as I normally am and always feel bloated towards end of day. I need to buy prunes as I am more constipated lately. Not sure if its form pregnancy or travel.

OP posts:
ELJ1502 · 17/04/2019 16:16

@peasando I'm trying ginger tea too, but it's not making much difference.

I've just been told strong symptoms at the start is a sign of twins. Not sure how to react to that comment.

ELJ1502 · 17/04/2019 16:18

@Mamabear12 I feel more hungry but then really sick when I do eat. I've had bloating towards the end of the day too.

Mamabear12 · 17/04/2019 16:23

ELJ1502, ah yes I felt more hungry with my first two pregnancies, but less bloated. I think being bloated is what puts me off food. I hate the feeling of being bloated. Also, during pregnancy my metabolism really slows down. I gained 23 kilos with my first two pregnancies!!! I am hoping I gain just 10 kilos or 15 with this one! However, I doubt I will. I am naturally slim and all the weight comes off after (takes a year though as I do not diet, it just slowly comes off). I do not know how some people get pregnant and only get a bump! I get huge all over...breasts go from a C to a large E!!

ELJ1502 · 17/04/2019 16:30

@Mamabear12 this is my first so I have no idea how my body will react. It's one thing that makes me nervous.
