Christmas babies

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

@NapsAndTea oh fab we’re due so close.. Christmas will be a different experience this year!..... I’m booking us a meal as there’s no way I’m doing the cooking or helping dh 3 days before my due date!

sportmixture · 13/05/2019 17:38

Wonder what other mums to be thoughts are on private scans, I am 7+5 and as I am a bit older (46) I would like to have an early scan, to make sure everything is viable as I had a miscarriage at 10weeks last year, but my epu only do scans mon- fri and my partner lives over 300 miles away and can only come up over the weekend, so not able to have scan that he can attend at epu, has anyone else has a private scan how did they compare, when I had the miscarriage last year the staff at the epu were fantastic and I’m just worried that if anything is wrong it won’t be so supported at a private scan?

NapsAndTea · 13/05/2019 20:49

@Jollymollyx I'm usually the host at Christmas too so will definitely be different - I'm hoping I'll be early so may just be toast on Christmas Day hahah 😂

VeryNewToAllThis · 13/05/2019 21:56

Evening ladies! Had my booking in appointment today and started to discuss which hospital I want to give birth at! Very exciting! I've had a small amount of spotting this weekend (second time this pregnancy) and credit to the midwife she's got me straight in at the EPU on Thursday for an early scan! Fingers crossed all is still ok! 🙏🏻

@sportmixture I've paid for an early scan at the local clinic to me (after spotting incident no1) and I have to say it was worth every penny! Hearing the heartbeat was amazing! They were incredibly sensitive and I had a super long appointment. She answered all my questions and I would fully recommend it if you can!

TDLO · 14/05/2019 07:44

Hi all, can I join? 😊 currently 8+4. EDD 20th Dec. Being a Christmas baby myself (21/12) makes it all the more exciting.
Currently feeling v nervous. Had a mmc in Jan this year, but had a reassurance scan at 6+6 where I measured 6+4 (close enough the sonographer said), but a small hematoma under the baby. Sonographer wasn't worried but did book me another scan for this Friday so fingers crossed. seen the heartbeat which was magical.

Was nice to read how you are all getting on. I have had way more symptoms this time round, boobs are mega sore and dreams have been crazy, as well as nausea but no actual sickness. I've not felt stretching every day though just about once or twice a week, hoping that is ok?

Hope everyone's appts and scans go well this week x

EmeraldRubyShark · 14/05/2019 08:11

sportmixture If the purpose for wanting an early scan is to check viability I would just go to the EPU on your own. I went to my first early scan without OH as he was at work and it was fine. If it’d been bad news they were lovely and I’m sure would have been very supportive. Or is it more that you want you and your partner to just see the baby together because it’s a nice thing to do?

Mamabear12 · 14/05/2019 09:36

TDLO Welcome! I felt slightly more symptoms with each pregnancy. The first one felt nothing, just boobs slightly bigger and missed period. Second time I felt tired (but also had an 11 month old so that could be why lol) and felt slightly sick sometimes in evening. Third time around feel slightly sick through out day (but barely noticeable ) and mega hungry. I never felt any stretching. When you say stretching do you mean like stretching uterus?

Thanks verynewtothis and emeraldshark, I really think I would like the reassurance that everything is ok given my age and after last time and I’m sure epu would give me one, just it’s my partners first child (it’s my 6th) and I know he want to be involved as much as possible especially since atm he lives so far away, he is in the process of selling up to move up with me xx

Emmilou82 · 14/05/2019 17:17

I've eaten soooo much today I feel horrendous!!

I've had 1600 calories overall but I have had a lot of fruit today! I've just been nibbling all day.... 😩

TDLO · 14/05/2019 17:41

@Mamabear12 thanks, yes for stretching I mean like low stomach cramps/uterus stretching. Getting it sometimes but not always, which I'm hoping is normal. x

Jollymollyx · 14/05/2019 17:43

@Emmilou82
My appetite has gone up, always does in pregnancy for me from first tri. But today I was so tired due to my other two waking up so I ended up pigging out on bad sugary snacks Blush

Emmilou82 · 14/05/2019 18:31

@Jollymollyx I normally only eat 1200 calories a day so it's quite a jump and I just feel stuffed!

Hopefully it'll calm down but urgh, I feel grim

Mamabear12 · 14/05/2019 18:41

Emmilou82 Do you normally count calories? Were you trying to lose weight before? I thought women were supposed to eat 2,000 a day at least or 2,500. I don’t count calories, but I used to pay attention to this stuff many years ago. The funny thing is when I paid attention to eat I used to eat way more! Almost like counting calories made me more hungry lol. I’m on holiday so enjoying a bit. But unfortunately not as much as I want bc I’m feeling bloated again :( and feeling bloated means I eat less. I haven’t been able to go out to eat where I want (lobster roll w fries is what I wanted for lunch but felt too bloated so ended up with pho chicken noodle soup).

I don’t remember feeling bloated at all with my first two. I wonder why this time I feel bloated some days. Does anyone else feel bloated still? Makes it hard for me to eat what I want when I feel bloated.

OP posts:
Emmilou82 · 14/05/2019 18:46

I've always been watching my weight lol.... I was on meal replacement shakes before I got pregnant but I just can't stop eating now lol!

Jollymollyx · 14/05/2019 20:27

@Mamabear12 I always have bloating in first tri and then it goes away around 3 months, so sounds normal, sometimes your digestive system slows down and can have constipation too which can cause bloating.

My symptoms this time so far are EXTREME tiredness and dizziness, feeling weak. I’m measuring a week behind which is a bit concerning but hopefully it catches up

Jollymollyx · 14/05/2019 20:29

@Emmilou82 I was doing really well eating and my gym routine before pregnancy but I’ve already put weight and too tired to work out. I really don’t want to put too much weight on in this pregnancy as I did before and it was harder to shift every time so third time I think it will be even more stubborn. If this is your first pregnancy- enjoy it, eat what you want it’s easier to burn after than second and third etc

sportmixture · 14/05/2019 20:57

I’m not sure about bloating but I know I have been putting on a bit of weight all over which for me is normal, but I’m really struggling to eat, I’m not a great eater at the best of times, so I’m really making an effort at the moment to ensure that I eat regularly, but the tiredness is a really difficult, I hadn’t wanted to tell my other children yet but ended up having to tell my 12 yo ds as he was getting worried about me falling asleep all the time, and suggesting I should see the doctor 😴😴

Mamabear12 · 14/05/2019 22:38

Jollymollyx How many weeks are you? I have read about some babies being a week behind and then catching up on a later scan. When is your next scan? I also don’t want to put as much weight as my last two pregnancies 23+kgs each time 😳 but both times I bounced back to pre pregnancy (took about a year though!).

This bloating is frustrating. Uncomfortable. I guess it doesn’t help I took a long flight, as when I’m not pregnant long flights leave me bloated a couple days as well. So double whammy. I haven’t gained any weight, but clothes are tight around my belly bc of the bloating. Now I’m having ginger tea in the hopes it helps!

@Jollymollyx this is my second pregnancy but my son is 12 so it was a while ago and I don't remember eating this much or being this tired lol...
I had morning sickness with him for 28 weeks so I'm really grateful I'm not like that this time. Only a couple of sicky moments. It's mainly queasiness this time!
They say every pregnancy is different don't they and they are right.....

EdajOvor · 15/05/2019 10:32

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, well participating anyway. I'm currently 8.5 weeks pregnant, I've had my booking in appointment, just waiting for my dating scan (10th June). Had a scan a few weeks ago (see below) which would put me somewhere around 20th December.

Just for background, this is my first pregnancy, unplanned but a welcome little miracle. I have Endometriosis and PCOS. My DP was told he should not be able to conceive. But as the doctor told me, it only takes one swimmer! I had some bleeding and pain 3 weeks ago and was referred to Hospital, had a scan and there was my little blob and a heartbeat. I thought I was 8 weeks at that point (from working from first day of last period) but she said due to size etc I was more at the 5/6 week mark.

My morning sickness came in very early, around 4 weeks, and has just gotten worse and worse, all day sickness! At the point now where I can stomach some fruit, and bread mainly. I have never physically thrown up, but I genuinely wish I would. All I do all day is violently dry heave into the toilet at work or at home, it's awful. Trying to eat around that is a nightmare. Praying this eases off at the 12 week mark!

Regardless, me and DP are very excited/anxious/scared/super happy to become parents for the first time Grin . I'm a massive worrier so can't wait to get to that 12 week point!

Inthesky42 · 15/05/2019 12:33

Hey all can I join? Im 9 weeks and due 18th Dec. Got a private scan tomorrow to check baby has grown ok. Had some spotting at 5 weeks so the EPU scanned me at 6 weeks and everything looked OK then so really really hoping tomorrow is good news as I've read far too many stories about MMCs!

I've been super lucky and haven't really felt that sick. Main problem for me is tiredness, bloating and sore boobs! I fall asleep on the sofa every night I can't keep my eyes open and it's really hard to focus on work!!

Do I have any due date buddies?

Losd · 15/05/2019 17:22

Hey guys. Started bleeding today, no cramping but have also lost my pregnancy symptoms, after being a total emotional wreck all day yesterday and having the worst breast pain in the word all day. Phoned midwife and she said it’s is a threatened miscarriage, getting scan on Friday unless I miscarry before then. X

Mamabear12 · 15/05/2019 17:58

Losd I am sorry to hear that. Hopefully everything will be okay. How is the bleeding? Is it light? My friend filled a pad with her first one and it ended up being okay. The hardest part is the waiting to find out. Thinking of you and hoping all is okay.

Losd · 15/05/2019 18:04

@Mamabear12 thanks, I really hope it’s ok too 💔 I was just starting to relax a bit as I’m 10 and a half weeks now, 6 and 10 week scans were perfect then this, I’m just numb. Yeah it’s light bleeding, only when I wipe after peeing but with my history it’s not looking good, honestly can’t believe it, scan at 130 on Friday so not all that long to wait x

Mamabear12 · 15/05/2019 18:09

Losd I am sorry to hear that :( Hopefully the bleeding goes away. I remember your last post with your 10 week scan. Sometimes these bleeds can happen. But they are still scary and causes a lot of stress and worry. A week ago, I had some spotting first thing in morning when I wiped and it scared me. As I never had this before, but with this pregnancy I spotted around when my period was due and then again (second spotting was when my next period would have been. But only was the one wipe in morning and was gone). Hopefully, its the same for you and spotting stops completely. Crossing fingers for you for Friday. X
