Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

@Emmilou82 I’m so happy for you! Not been online for a few days due to family issues but just had a read through posts and seen you’ve had a scan with heartbeat! What a relief ❤️
Congratulations to everyone else who’ve had BFP’s scans etc, way too much been happening to comment on everything 🙊 xx

Emmilou82 · 05/05/2019 19:10

Thank you @Losd yes it was lovely to see....

Hope you are well x

Losd · 05/05/2019 20:29

I’m great thanks, next scan on Friday when I’ll be 10 weeks then another on 29th plus first appointment with specialist obstetrician so busy month, I’m hoping if everything is ok on Friday I will start relaxing and maybe actually start enjoying being pregnant! Xx

VeryNewToAllThis · 05/05/2019 22:12

Fully aware this is probably TMI but I'm lying in bed thinking to myself 'my god my boobs hurt' 😂 perks of pregnancy I suppose! Any tricks to ease the pain?

Emmilou82 · 06/05/2019 06:20

@VeryNewToAllThis no tips for you unfortunately however. Did try to wear my sports bra yesterday evening instead of my tight normal one and I couldn't even fasten it up 😩 I think I'll have to buy some proper maternity ones!

I mowed the lawn yesterday and strimmed and I've really hurt my back (Not unusual as I hurt it last year and it's never healed properly). Just wondering what I can take to help with the pain? Is it just paracetamol?

Babykent2019 · 06/05/2019 06:35

Hi, has anyone made a decision on breast feeding or bottle feeding?
Breast feeding isn't for me and starting to worry when we tell people 😔.

peasando · 06/05/2019 07:05

@Babykent2019, don't worry about what other people say (easier said than done I know!) It's such a personal thing and what's right for one person won't be right for another.

I'm hoping to breastfeed again - I breastfed my son until he was 18 months and I lived it - but that's just my personal choice, and it's no more or less valid than yours. Also there's no guarantee I'll be able to breastfeed with my second so I'm just going to wait and see what happens when they arrive!

EmeraldRubyShark · 06/05/2019 10:49

Babykent2019 I’ve always wanted to BF but I’m preparing myself for being told I won’t be able to due to medication I take. So FF might be the way forward for me. I refuse to feel bad if that’s the case. It’s a hell of an achievement to keep a newborn and older baby alive and happy each day, how you choose to feed them is totally up to you!

If anyone asks you can either say ‘oh I’ve not decided yet’ or if you do want to share, say it with confidence ‘we’ve decided FF fits best for us’. Few people will be rude enough to say anything nasty if you make it clear you’re not ashamed or upset about it, it’s a choice you’re happy with and proud of. I would even be tempted with people who make awful comments to drop in a ‘isn’t it wonderful we live in a day and age where we are able to feed our babies and help them thrive even if BF isn’t an option?’

if you reallllly are worried you can always paint it as out of your hands ‘the doctors have said I probably won’t be able to due to medication I have to take’.

Either way it’s your choice and you have no reason at all to feel bad about it.

Babykent2019 · 06/05/2019 12:47

Thanks @EmeraldRubyShark @peasando for your kind words. I am feeling a bit more confident on what to say now should I have any negative comments about the feeding.

Hopefully people will be understanding but it will be our choice if we do decide to FF.

December2019 · 06/05/2019 12:56

@Babykent2019 hey hun I FF my son and I plan to do the same with this little embryo I gave my LO the first feed on the boob so he got the colostrum and a bit of immunity with it being winter but he was straight on the formula after that, I found some of the midwives where very pushy about breast feeding but you've just got to stand your ground and do what's right for you... NEVER feel bad about not breast feeding YOUR baby I helped my sanity and still does that my OH can help with the night feeds and I didn't have to pump and don't have to worry about my milk quantity and my diet

Mamabear12 · 06/05/2019 15:40

I plan to BF. I BF my first 2 dc and I would only offer formula if I was not able to produce milk. I was brought up on formula though and turned out fine...so if you do decide to formula feed, don't beat yourself up about it or worry what others think.

So today it happened, the emotions got the better of me at 6w 3d, trying on half my wardrobe for work this morning and nothing fitted, I am so so bloated I had to raid out a pair of jeans 3 sizes too big from before my weight loss and use a belt than try squeeze into any of my other stuff, I sat of the bed and cried for a good 20 minutes solid whilst stuffing my face with a Cadburys Easter egg. I can't believe the weight I've gained from past couple of weeks, combination of constantly eating and pregnancy bloating. I'm an emotional wreck today too, thankfully its a Bank Holiday and I'm only one in the office and don't need to see/talk to many people 😂😂😭😭

Coffeeandcake87 · 06/05/2019 15:50

Also I managed to get a early scan for next week through NHS cause of my issues with my son after he was born and my anxiety. Next week can't come quick enough

Mamabear12 · 06/05/2019 16:55

I am feeling bloated again....argh. I thought I was passed the bloated stage. At least I am craving healthy things lately like oranges and brazil nuts. Made a fresh veggies soup and had that for lunch (my dd request) along with a cheese tortilla (my ds request). I am supposed to make a salad for dinner...which is super easy I know. I will boil potatoes and asparagus to go along with it (having bread with humus on the side). But I am LAZY to make the salad....or maybe pregnancy hormones. Also, I do not really even feel like eating. Rather just have some breadsticks and humus....I think its because I am feeling bloated :(

Does anyone else just feel so lethargic? Like not even particularly tired, just lazy and meh!
I’ve barely done anyone all weekend
Planned to get an essay finished but managed 3 sentences. I’ve been watching utube videos for hours
Just can not get motivated

peasando · 06/05/2019 17:08

@Comps83 yes me 🙁 I had so many things I was going to do today, catch up on work, sort out the house and I've done nothing, just sat about. So annoyed with myself but at the same time can't find the energy to do anything.

I also can't shake the feeling that something is going to go wrong, so much so that I've booked a private scan for tomorrow evening even though I had an nhs one last week and am getting another one a week on Wednesday. I just feel that something isn't right. Spoke to DH about it and he obviously thinks I'm being nuts (which I probably am) but for the sake of £45 he said I should just book it rather than spending the next week being anxious.

Emmilou82 · 06/05/2019 17:37

I've had 3 naps today 🙈 just can't be bothered to do anything..... though I did go food shopping, been out for a walk, I've done the ironing and now doing dinner!

OH has been useless today and been to the gym and nothing else! Annoying!!!

Should had studied this weekend but just cannot concentrate to do it 😩

December2019 · 06/05/2019 17:43

I've lounged too been in bed most of the day with my baby watching Netflix lol
I've ate my weight in food too, but I am craving cold crunchy veg/salad stuff and Ice cold water with lemon & ice I think I'm wanting refreshing things

Mamabear12 · 06/05/2019 17:52

Comps83, yes! I feel so lazy and guilty for not getting much done. Although, I managed to go to Zumba. Mornings I start w most energy. I took dog out 30 mins in the park so she can run etc. But most of the day I have been lying in bed or on couch.

Towards the evening I feel less great. But I generally just feel run down during the day. Not feeling great now so eating some bread sticks and apple sauce. Hoping that makes me feel better. I notice in the evenings or if I go more then a couple hours w out eating I feel a little sick. But if I eat it makes me feel better. It’s frustrating because I just don’t really feel like eating. I’m lying in bed with my dog at the edge. At least the dc had a fun afternoon out w dh. They all decided to eat out so I’m off cooking duty 😀

I also find I crave ice drinks and water w lemon etc. But at the moment would like ginger tea. But too lazy to make it.

Babykent2019 · 06/05/2019 18:09

Thank u all for your positive words.

I've been lazy today as well, went for a shopping appointment at Mamas and Papas this morning then back to the sofa 🛋 for my afternoon nap. Haven't moved the rest of the day, waiting for DH to cook my spag Bol. 😂 Definitely lazy today.

Jojobabymamma · 07/05/2019 06:47

I am feeling similar to a few of you on here! Feeling super lethargic and low energy - except this is baby no. 2 so no chance of the same level of daytime naps and lounging on the sofa as last time! Already feeling quite guilty about not having as much energy to play with the baby and feeling a bit useless with all the house stuff at the moment too - DH has cooked every meal over the last few weeks bless him. Also craving high calorie food - I went shopping yesterday and bought loads of biscuits, crisps, cakes, etc and all I wanted for dinner was pizza. I know it’s all normal behaviour from last time and just need to follow and listen to my body - if it’s craving high calorie food there’s a reason for it and I know things will change again when I hit the second trimester. Last time my most rapid rate of weight gain was in the first trimester and then it plateaued more in the second xx

Coffeeandcake87 · 07/05/2019 09:09

@jojobabymama I have been the same with high calorie food, I have gained quite a bit of weight already annoyingly.

Has anyone else been getting constant dull cramping, I have for past few weeks, keep getting told its normal but can't remember half of this from first time round including the lethargy and how it seems such an effort to make the slightest movement lol

PinkSpring · 07/05/2019 09:41

I am basically in bed about 7pm. I put our DD to bed and lay with her and next thing I know, it's like 11pm......

I am constantly exhausted, I feel sick 24/7 and all I want is crap takeaway food which usually reappears not long after anyway.

Now just over 8 weeks.

Mamabear12 · 07/05/2019 13:55

Anyone getting cravings? Lately I have been eating an orange a day. Normally I’m not a fruit person. I try to have a smoothie a day to sneak in fruit. But suddenly craving an orange and Brazil nuts 😀 I also bought some chocolate cake snack (which I also never do) and had two today. Still low on energy and for some reason just feel unmotivated to do things. Its frustrating as I think it’s just the feeling tired through out the day causing me not to feel like doing much. I’ve made some green tea and will let it cool to have ice green tea w lemon. Anyone else feeling sluggish and less motivated to do things.

MrsS7 · 07/05/2019 14:16

@Mamabear12 yes I feel very lethargic and unmotivated! Feel like I've got nothing done today and I just want to go back to sleep. I'm 10 weeks today and haven't really felt like this until the past few days.

I don't seem to be craving much but am having lots of aversions- basically I don't want anything healthy or strong-flavoured! Really struggling with fruit and veg at the moment, all I can seem to face is pasta, crisps etc. I'm a bit worried about staying healthy but I'm trying to keep it under control, and am determined to go to the gym for a bit after work today!
