Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

@VeryNewToAllThis prob 100+ questions, quite a lot:
Where do live , do I own the house/rent , do I feel safe there and in general, what to I do for work, what does my partner do for work. Have I had any cramps/bleeding. Do I feel depressed/happy/anxious. Do I drink/smoke/take drugs. Where do I want to give birth. Have any of my family got any mental illnesses , have I. Have any of my family got a list of these 200+ diseases have I?
The list is quite long but all pretty standard questions that you would expect them to ask. Mainly about checking your current lifestyle, frame of mind, I think. They they will let u know all the do's and don'ts. 😂

One thing I though was sweet is that she told me
to massage my bump , sing to him/her, read books and get dad involved talking to the bump as well. Apparently the baby becomes more relaxed and will be more stimulated. May even recognise a song to calm them. So today I have been in the shower 🚿 singing lilly Allen "somewhere only we know" thought it was fitting for our Christmassy baby. 😂

Babykent2019 · 03/05/2019 05:35

@VeryNewToAllThis ..... and also Oasis "half the world away". Can tell I'm a Xmas John Lewis advert fan judging on the two songs I've picked to sing to bump 😂

Hi ladies,

How is everyone feeling today? The exhaustion has finally hit me at 5+6 weeks 😴 really struggling today admittedly its been a busy & stressful week at work that hasnt helped.

Also finding nausea is worse some days compared to others yesterday morning was awful whereas today hasnt been so bad.

GoldPaperStars · 03/05/2019 17:01

The tiredness is like nothing I’ve ever experienced (and I have CFS/ME, so I’m a tiredness pro Confused) and I’ve started going off food and getting a bit of nausea which means I can’t bring myself to even think about eating anything but white carbs! My anxiety isn’t great either - I keep feeling quite low.

All in all I feel like I’m a bit shit at being pregnant and failing at being a mum already. Hopefully it all starts to feel better as I AM happy about being pregnant!

Mamabear12 · 03/05/2019 17:09

Today, I am just feeling tired. But I managed to get back to sleep and wake 7am instead of starting the day at 5am, like I have been doing the last couple of weeks. That makes such a difference! I hope I am able to continue sleeping until 7am. Tonight we are going out to dinner...not sure if the other couple will buy the I am not drinking to be healthy or on a diet thing lol. Its my friend who is a mum to 3 so she will know these types of tricks. To be honest, I do not mind telling them, but my husband always prefers to wait until 12 weeks.

@GoldPaperStars Bless you I know what you mean about anxiety I have suffered with it for years and had got to a point I was controlling it well but since finding out especially after our miscarriage 2 years ago finding myself getting worse again. Please dont feel like that though you are not failing in anyway if you ever want to chat let me know 😘

@Mamabear12 7am start definitely sounds better and much more bearable I have had days when I am awake well before my alarm yet this morning was absolutely soundo when it went off to the point it made me jump 😂 enjoy your meal tonight thats always the worry going out with others and if they will pick up on your excuse for not drinking. I have my soon to be sister in laws hen this month & then their wedding in June absolutely sure my other halfs family will pick up on me not drinking or vaping & realise

VeryNewToAllThis · 04/05/2019 10:06

Put my normal jeans on this morning and oh my they are tighter! Don't think they're going to last much longer! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂 any one else or is it just me? Lol 😂

Comps83 · 04/05/2019 11:16

6 weeks and I’m bored already
I obviously used to drink far too much as I don’t know what to do with my weekends now
Going out in a few hours with the excuse that I’ve got the car as I’d already arranged to pick DH later. Still haven’t decided which imaginary event or place DH is at yet
I think it’s also down to the fact I can’t tell anyone . I’m living a lonely lie Grin

Aims4488 · 04/05/2019 11:46

@VeryNewToAllThis I tried my jeans on this morning & its an absolute no go 😂 as I am only popping out to b&m for dry shampoo its leggings then back into pjs when i am home!

Mamabear12 · 04/05/2019 13:16

It is more fun when having a drink when out! That is for sure! But I still had a lovely time last night and an amazing meal. Tonight we are going out again. I am tired though today so will need to take a nap for sure!

Still fitting in my jeans, but if I eat a meal and lean over its not comfortable on my belly. Feeling tired every day and just want to lie in bed. Spent all morning shuffling kids and dog around while dh went to the gym. Football, music and walk in the park. Two loads of laundry...making salmon, potatoes and veggies lunch for the family...now I am on the sofa for some me time while my daughter does her homework. Dog is sitting next to me curled up sleeping....I want to do the same lol. Think I will do once dd is finished hw and let her watch a movie!

My husband said to me this morning that he could see my bump! Argh! Didn't like to tell him it's all bloat at this point...

Have been running round doing swimming lessons etc with my son tris morning, then did supermarket. Now desperate for a nap, I'm exhausted!

Comps83 · 04/05/2019 19:20

Argh man I managed to get through the day and I think my lies were convincing and no one sussed only to come hone to messages about arranging a spa weekend! Do I really want to pay the money to not be able to use the hot top or have any prosecco . Can’t bloody wait till he able to tell ppl it’s doing my bloody head in!

EmeraldRubyShark · 04/05/2019 22:00

Comps83 my pregnant friends loved spa weekends! They can sit on the side and dip their legs in the hot tub or swim, it’s so nice to drown yourself in water and lemon slices instead of Prosecco too 😂 all of the other women who went along treated them like a queen and it was just an exciting time for them knowing they had such a great reason for dodging the hot tub.

VeryNewToAllThis · 04/05/2019 22:23

@Comps83 I'm off to a champneys spa day tomorrow! I'm really looking forward to lying by the pool, reading my book, resting up before the baby comes! I'll be six weeks tomorrow so no one will know either! I'm just going to be too lazy to move from my lounger! Lol

Had my early scan tonight. Thank you for all the reassuring messages about dildo cam! Thankfully baby could be seen without the need for a transvaginal scan! They've adjusted my due date to be 29th Dec (not 24th as I thought) so I might get my Christmas dinner after all! Heartbeat was super strong and amazing to hear! Really relaxed my anxieties about there being nothing in there! Made it very real for my husband and I! Exciting times ahead!

Comps83 · 04/05/2019 22:32

Perhaps spa day was misleading
It’s actually a cottage with a stand alone hot tub outside
There was a girl with us last year who was pregnant and hadn’t told anyone
She just sat on a chair wrapped up in her coat looking miserable as sin .
I’m just hoping it doesn’t get mentioned again

I feel like time is going very slowly . My early scan isn’t til 29th

Mamabear12 · 05/05/2019 08:28

Comps83 I just would not go if you think it won't be fun. Say you already have plans!

We had our second dinner date out last night with another couple. Funny now that I can't drink etc we suddenly going out a lot more. We normally never do. Came home and managed to watch game of thrones episode. It was so good!

EmeraldRubyShark · 05/05/2019 08:43

Oh I see comps, yeah that won’t be fun, it’ll be freezing sat outside while everyone’s in the hot tub. Unless the getaway is really expensive I’d probably still go though for the chance to see friends. I’d just take my kindle and curl up in the lounge reading with hot chocolate while people were in the hot tub, and plan other stuff so that the hot tub wasn’t the only plan every day. Can still cook and eat together and go for walks etc.

Emmilou82 · 05/05/2019 09:52

Morning ladies.... I'm struggling today. I feel really queasy, agitated, tired and I really want to smoke!

I've had some toast for breakfast as I was starving but feel really icky now.

Thinks it's gonna be one of those days 😩 Sorry for moaning!!

EmeraldRubyShark · 05/05/2019 10:45

Aww sorry Emmi!

Reading Expecting Better and learned of the horrifying statistic that for women who smoked 1-9 cigarettes per day during pregnancy their baby’s chance of dying from SIDS was increased fourfold. And for women who smoked 10-19 cigs a day, their babies were nine times more likely to die of SIDS.

I know you’re not smoking but I can imagine knowing that will kill the craving!

Emmilou82 · 05/05/2019 11:07

@EmeraldRubyShark yeah it's facts like that that remind me why I can't do it..... it's still so very hard 😬

Mamabear12 · 05/05/2019 11:24

Emmilou82 it gets easier and by the time the baby is out, you would have not smoked long enough to kick the habit for good. At least that happened to me and I have not smoked since (8 years ago). I was a wine drinker though, but not too hard to give it up...as I know I just can't have it, so makes it much easier for me. I guess it was the same for the smoking. I knew I could not have it so I did not really crave it. Hope it gets easier for you.

Due 27th December with IVF 🤭

peasando · 05/05/2019 14:17

Ugh I feel awful today, absolutely starving but the thought of food makes me want to throw up. Just spent the last hour chasing my 2 year old around soft play as well which didn't really help!

On the plus side though, I noticed this morning that my skin is looking amazing - better than it ever has. You can't tell, because you get distracted by the large scratch on my nose (from my son) and enormous cold sore on my mouth - but apart from them I'm glowing 🤦‍♀️

Emmilou82 · 05/05/2019 15:22

@Mamabear12 the craving has subsided a bit now..... it's mornings that are the hardest. Hey ho!!

Just been for a gorgeous Sunday lunch and now I'm podged! Going to just chill on the sofa as we are child free until tomorrow 🎉

diplodoco · 05/05/2019 16:32

Man I am feeling terrible today 🤢 just feel like I'm mega hungover. Craving food but also can't stand the thought of it. I've got a hen do next weekend so feel your pain about the spa day. Don't know what I'm going to do about the hot tub and the booze that's obviously going to be flowing. Just hoping there won't be shots. I've enlisted 2 friends to help me "pretend drink." Joy.
