Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

MrsS7 hey! Sorry you’re struggling too. I actually think I’ll be fine once I hit twelve weeks, which I keep reminding myself is only six weeks away. Six short weeks. Five once I’ve had my next scan a week today!

Yes I had an early scan at five weeks as they needed to check location to rule out ectopic pregnancy, thankfully they found it in my uterus! But I’m already petrified of the next one as at that scan all i saw was the sac and yolk, and I’m so scared next week the baby won’t have developed or their heartbeat won’t be visible or something else. I’m high risk due to the endometriosis and the meds I’ll be taking during pregnancy so I think they’re keeping an eye on me but not sure if that’ll continue the whole nine months or just the early stages.

My partner says the exact same things as yours does! They mean well, and they’re right, but it drives me mad. I’ve told him what I really need is some empathy, no falsely positive ‘it’ll be fine’ nonsense when neither of us can know that. Just a hug and a ‘I know, this is so scary for us right now’ and a kiss and a promise that whatever happens we have each other and we’ll keep trying. That’s what I need, not ‘you’re making yourself anxious, stop googling, the stress isn’t good for baby, what will be will be either way’. It’s ten times worse cos he’s a doctor and so matter of fact about it all. I admit after the scan showed it’s in the right place he was relieved and feels a bit more positive about it all, until then even when we found out he was dampening our excitement with ‘well, let’s just wait and see’ which broke my heart and I think really set the tone for this past few weeks. I just wish he’d been enthusiastic even for that initial few minutes. But i went from OMG I’m pregnant to oh yeah who knows what’ll happen. It made me really sad. I just wanted to celebrate the fact that I at least managed to get pregnant when we didn’t know if I could.

It’s just all so hard. At least I don’t think it’ll be like this all year. Once I hit twelve weeks and start to feel a bit different physically and can tell people I’ll feel mostly out of the woods I think. I had spotting the day after I found out and it was awful. I was like oh, I guess that’s it then, that was nice while it lasted. Obviously it was fine and nothing to worry about but this entire experience of being first time pregnant is just absolutely horrible so far.

EmeraldRubyShark · 30/04/2019 16:49

It’s almost like time stood still once I got the positive test and my life went from moving at a normal fast rate to slowing right down and it feels like torture. I was so down when I told my boss at work she thought it was an accident and that I was considering a termination. Ended up explaining to her I’m down at the idea of it not working out, and the actual idea of a baby is too wonderful to contemplate it’s breaking my heart knowing there’s a chance of it going wrong.

MrsS7 · 30/04/2019 17:52

Aww, I know exactly how you feel @EmeraldRubyShark, but it must be even more worrying being higher risk. If it helps, I’m finding that time is moving a bit more quickly the further along I get!
I think I’ll be less worried too if all is well at 12 weeks. Difficult trying to explain that to DH though as I don’t think he’s really very aware of the three trimesters and their different risks... trying to explain as I progress! Fingers crossed for us all.

Comps83 · 30/04/2019 18:16

I know I shouldnt but occasionally I still poas
Just did and it came up with a blazing test line instantly but with a very faint control line. Googled it and apparently it’s coz the levels are so high the test line sucks all the dye leaving none for the control line. I did 2 tests and they were exactly the same
There was also mentions of twins with levels being that high but I hope not now as our circumstances might be about to change where we might get the chance to put DC through private school but no way could we afford to do it for 2. Eeek!

peasando · 30/04/2019 18:35

@Comps83 I'm still POAS too! I still have loads of cheap tests left so I pee on them from time to time. I also did another clear blue digital this morning because it was sitting in my cupboard - fortunately I got 3+ again or I don't know what I would have done! I'm hoping I'll calm down a bit after my scan tomorrow but let's face it, while I've got sticks left I'll probably pee on them 🤦‍♀️

Comps83 · 30/04/2019 18:41

It’s very addictive

Mamabear12 · 01/05/2019 05:54

Hi Ladies, how long did you 6 week scan last? Unfortunately, I forgot my dd has a half day on Weds. My scan is 12:30pm. If it finishes by 1pm, I will make it in time for pick up.

Emmilou82 · 01/05/2019 06:01

@Mamabear12 our appointment was 12pm and I was back at work for 12.45 so not that long but is there any chance you can get someone to collect DD on your behalf so you don't have to rush? Maybe ring them to see if they can get you in earlier.

Mamabear12 · 01/05/2019 06:07

Emmilou82 thanks for responding. Its the only appointment, and I have a dentist appt at 10:30am, so busy morning as is! But I will ask a friend if her nanny can do it (her dd is my dd class friend). If she can't, will ask if my other friend can do it (another friend from class). Crossing fingers everything is on good time and I can do the pick up at 1:15pm.

Good luck with you scan @Mamabear12 , let us know how it goes! Mine is at 3 but I have an appointment with my consultant straight afterwards so will prob take a while.

Mamabear12 · 01/05/2019 06:36

Thanks peasando

Good luck on your scan as well! I can't wait. Not sure how in the past I managed to just wait until 12 weeks.

OP posts:
peasando · 01/05/2019 06:37

I'm a mixture of can't wait and terrified! Not sure I'm going to get much work done between now and then.

Emmilou82 · 01/05/2019 07:14

Good luck with your scan @Mamabear12 I hope you get it sorted.

We have ours tomorrow at 10.45. Not quite sure what the purpose of tomorrow's is to be fair as we had one last week. Think they are checking for heartbeat and I also have a fibroid that they want to keep their eye on so maybe it's that

Mamabear12 · 01/05/2019 07:20

peasando I’m a little scared too. ESP when you see other threads about not being dates you expected or not correct growth etc.

Emmilou82 Thanks, good luck tomo. Perhaps ask them what they want to check out?

MrsS7 & peasando

Thank you so much for your replies! You made me feel so much less alone (and cry, but pregnancy so far for me is being tired and crying... Blush).

It is my first, yes. We’ve told my parents and my mum is being really lovely (surprisingly, as she’s not the grandmother type!). They’re being really supportive, although live abroad so it’s just been on the phone. I’d love a mum hug!

I will take your advice and try and relax and go with it. I hope you’re both doing well too.

peasando · 01/05/2019 13:00

@Mamabear12 I know you won't have a chance to look at this yet but just to say I'm thinking about you - hope everything went ok x

MrsS7 · 01/05/2019 13:06

Thanks @GoldPaperStars, try to think positive!

Had my booking in appointment this morning and my midwife seems lovely. Looking forward to getting my 12 week scan date soon!

Mamabear12 · 01/05/2019 13:46

peasando Thanks! Scan went well 😀 strong heart beat and new EDD - 24 December

Thinking of you now! Hope it all goes well. Keep us updated!

It now feels so real. First time I’ve done an early scan and it was amazing to see on the screen.

peasando · 01/05/2019 13:55

@Mamabear12 yippee!! That's fabulous news, I'm so happy for you. Makes it all seem so real doesn't it? I'm leaving for mine shortly, will let you know how it goes.

Aims4488 · 01/05/2019 15:31

@Mamabear12 Really pleased to hear your scan went well do you mind me asking how far are you? I have booked mine but couldnt get in until the 30th May when I will be 9 weeks but they have said if a cancellation comes up before they will let me know.

@peasando I hope yours goes well too how exciting that everyone is now starting to have these.

Mamabear12 · 01/05/2019 16:12

I am 6 weeks 1 day according to scan. My guess was 6 days 2 days so I was close (I was a day off with my first two as well)....however, they were both born within 1 day of their due dates...so wonder if I was right all along lol.

OP posts:
peasando · 01/05/2019 16:16

All went fine with my scan too! Everything looks fine so far and saw its little heart beating away. What a relief. Consultant has booked me in for another scan in two weeks but it's just for reassurance for me 😃

Aims4488 · 01/05/2019 16:53

Lovely thanks @Mamabear12 its good that you werent far out with your estimate bet you feel happy now you've had it.

Pleased to hear that @peasando good also that you have been booked in again for a couple of weeks time.

Mamabear12 · 01/05/2019 17:36

Great news @peasando !! Did they give you a due date or is it the same?

Aims4488 yes, it is nice to know there is something in there! It feels more real when you see it on screen. Do not know how I managed to wait until 12 weeks for my first two!

Anyone have guesses on what they are having? I have a feeling a girl! My first two I had a little hunch and was correct and this time around I feel like its a girl.
