Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

I've booked an early six week scan at 'Miracle in Progress', our local private scanning centre. (As I'm a huge worrier and wanted some reassurance!) It was £59 and I've managed to book it for 5.45pm on a Saturday! Super convenient for me!

Summersun8383 · 24/04/2019 18:18

Wow so much happens on this group....hi to everyone who's joined today! Been out today and oh my word I feel SO bloated it's unreal! Feel like my belly looks huge and my jeans are feeling so tight....does anyone else have this?? I don't remember being like this first time round!

Comps83 · 24/04/2019 18:22

I’m having to pretty much buy a new wardrobe of clothes. Just because I’ve generally put on so much weight lately but now that I’m pregnant I can’t just kid myself that I will lose the weight and get back into them . Mind I just don’t get clothes sizing . I’m wearing sz10 jeans now and they fit fine but I bought a sz 16 skirt which was really tight yday.

xgemx5 · 24/04/2019 20:14

Definitely, everything is feeling tight already. Gonna need new work trousers already at this rate!

Summersun8383 · 24/04/2019 20:32

@Comps83 I know what you mean!! Varies so much doesn't it which is really a annoying! @xgemx5 glad it's not just me....can't get over how much I've ballooned already! Good excuse for a shopping trip I suppose lol

Mamabear12 · 24/04/2019 20:51

I’m hoping I can get away with wearing summer dresses in a month or two so I don’t have to buy new clothes until I need to wear maternity. I still fit in my normal jeans etc. But I assume not for long!

What is everyone eating? I am trying to eat more healthy. Today I had:

Oatmeal w a little sugar and cinnamon (ran out of honey)

Greek yogurt w Brazil nuts and strawberries

Bagel w salmon salad (with onion and shredded carrots and mayo). Cheese melted on top.

Bowl of cereal with some chocolate flakes

Home made courgette soup (craving fresh veggie type soups lately and it was delicious!) and half a frozen pizza w spinach (dh ate the other half).

Oh I forgot to add my coffee in the morning first thing and my prenatal vitamins. Plus water and lemon squeezed (craving that, just like my first pregnancy). I wonder if that means another girl. I drank it all the time with my first and now again. I usually eat more then what I listed, but bloated makes me less hungry.

I have put on weight anyway before I got pregnant. On Friday I sorted out all my clothes and bagged up 4 bin bags to go to charity, on Sunday I had my first hint of a positive pregnancy test and took them all to my Mom to go to charity and then got my confirmation on the Monday (I was getting confused with the day of the week before! I think it was because it was a Bank Holiday weekend!) I was going to start losing weight again but now I am going to eat a bit healthier but know that I won’t fit in to my clothes for long, some are a bit tight anyway! I said to my Husband yesterday and my friend that I might just buy a couple of cheap maternity trousers and tops for work so I have something comfortable, and then one or two pairs of maternity jeans to last me, but he says I am thinking too soon! I might well be but at the same time if my clothes are not comfortable I don’t want to just buy the next size up and then struggle to fit in to them soon!

Mamabear12 · 24/04/2019 21:03

Yea I would just go w maternity jeans and trousers if needed now. No point buying next size up as you will waste money and then need to buy maternity! One trick I did was use a rubber band to extend my jeans previously when pregnant. I would loop it through the whole so it gave me an inch or two more.

I'm so nauseous, my ritz cracker and mini cheddar consumption is through the roof!🤢 I couldn't count how many I've had... The only thing I want to eat for lunch this week is cheese toasties and cream of tomato soup, so I now have a locker full of tins of soup 🙈

Nervousdave · 24/04/2019 21:41

I also bought a maternity top last night online from new look, with a cute slogan on it. I just couldn't resist. I might need to sort out pregnancy jeans sooner rather than later because anything more restrictive than leggings is making my nausea so much worse. My works very casual so I'm lucky I dont need office clothes, but do need to cover legs and feet.

December2018 · 24/04/2019 21:46

I got the maternity leggings from new look last year they are really thick & comfortable... they don't get the holes in the crotch & thighs like most leggings (I have thigh rub really bad) 😂😂
Leggings & maternity vests & tshirts where my life saver last year specially when the summer hit properly

VeryNewToAllThis · 24/04/2019 22:05

Super early I know, and hoping I don't jinx anything, but I've ordered some maternity jeans (£8) and denim shorts (£6) in the next sale and a couple of new look jumpers (£3/£5) in their maternity sale! Just hope I haven't jinxed anything! I noticed my Asda also were having a maternity sale!

December2018 · 24/04/2019 22:15

@VeryNewToAllThis peacocks on line usually have some good maternity offers too

Aims4488 · 24/04/2019 22:21

@VeryNewToAllThis I have screen shotted some items I want to get and was very tempted to order some maternity jeans that Matalan had on sale for £9! I am keeping my eye out as we are going on holiday to Majorca in June so just realised probably not going to fit into what I had planned to take with me, also had been aiming to lose 2 stone before then but going to enjoy any weight gain if it gives us our rainbow baby

VeryNewToAllThis · 24/04/2019 22:29

In my hubby's words, if things don't go to plan, I just have 'Christmas dinner' clothes like Joey from friends lol I'll have a look at Matalan and Peacocks, thanks!

Mamabear12 · 25/04/2019 05:26

Nervousdave I also bought ritz crackers and cheese. I like those for a snack sometimes and so do the kids 😀 and I plan on making tomato soup this week. Found an easy recipe online. If it’s good, I will let you know the recipe! I usually buy it canned, but lately I’m into making soups and sneaking veggies in for the kids.

Daft question folks but maternity clothes, do you just buy the size you are when not pregnant? Last time for me was 12 years ago and I wore hand me downs from my sister lol so not sure what size they were. Thanks

BeckyG86 · 25/04/2019 06:21

That is a good question, I thought that you brought the size you were before pregnant but never brought any before! I think someone told me that once though.

Aims4488 · 25/04/2019 07:35

4+5 today and had my first wave of nausea hit me this morning 🤢 have ginger nut biscuits at the ready & some crackers for my drawer at work.

Also been quite light headed this morning with it but guessing thats all normal?! How is everyone else feeling?

VeryNewToAllThis · 25/04/2019 09:00

With regard to maternity clothes, I've bought what I was prepregnancy! Let's hope I'm right! Lol

MamaGeordie · 25/04/2019 09:37

Yes I always bought my normal size in maternity otherwise they're massive everywhere else and fall off. Good excuse for a shopping trip!

Hayls17 · 25/04/2019 11:19

Hello 👋 can I join? Currently 4+6 due 27th December. This will be my second, my DD has just turned 2. I haven’t had chance to read back through the thread but I will do over the next few days to get up to speed!

Mamabear12 · 25/04/2019 13:00

Aims4488 I’m just feeling tired. But that’s because I keep waking at ridiculous hours! This morning it was 4:40am! But at least I was able to take a nap 😀 doesn’t help that my son woke me 3am to get into bed w me. For some reason I’m feeling not in a great mood either. I want to get back on track and sleep well. It’s frustrating :(

I bought some dates so I’m going to make a banana date smoothie as a way to get some fruit. I will probably start making fruit smoothies more often as I’m not big on fruit! I guess it’s the same reason for my veggie soups! Lol.

Hayls17 welcome. How are you feeling?

My early scan gave me a UTI thanks to all of the pushing down on my full bladder hard and then wiggling the dildo cam around inside me for ages 😭 currently resting up in bed with a heat blanket clamped between my legs, antibiotics and strong painkillers. Damnit!
