Christmas babies

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

My baby!!! Absolutely perfect! 12mm long and developing exactly as they should be, the sonographer has put me at 7weeks 3 days so I was 4 days out, I thought I was 6w 6 days. I could have watched that little heart beating all day ❤️❤️❤️ Although I cried so much it made the pictures all fuzzy, I had told the sonographer I didn’t want to see because I was so sure it would be another empty sac, so she got a good look before telling me there was a baby with a beating heart and then I started sobbing and made the pictures jump. I’m so happy this feels like a genuine miracle ❤️❤️❤️

@JGWelsh I got an early scan because I’m high risk but I think the usual process is you get booked for scan at 12 weeks during your booking in appointment. Maybe your Gp receptionist would know though, mine are quite helpful with processes and stuff. Xx

Beaglemum93 · 23/04/2019 16:24

Congratulations @Losd!

peasando · 23/04/2019 16:30

Congratulations @Losd , what a lovely feeling 💖

Emmilou82 · 23/04/2019 16:55

Fantastic news @Losd I'm soooo happy for you xxx

Mamabear12 · 23/04/2019 17:06

Losd congratulations! Such good news.

I have booked a 6 week scan for next week Thursday...wish I could do earlier! But it was the day the clinic suggested so I just took it. Feels like such a long wait! I almost feel like my first pregnancy again where everything is so slow! My second one flew by!

And to answer PP about what I would prefer, Im leaning towards a girl. I always find the girl clothes more fun, selecting a girl name and I guess I relate more to girls! I have a dd and ds. My dh is hoping for another ds as he relates more to boys. But of course we are happy with either and just want a healthy happy baby :) I plan to find out asap.

Thank you so much everyone, I’m still on cloud 9. Have been staring at the pictures for hours now even though they’re just wee fuzzy blobs haha! I’ve to get another scan at 10 weeks then 12 weeks then should just be scanned like a normal pregnancy rather than super high risk. Have my midwife appointment on Friday too, it’s all becoming very real 😱 Dying to tell my mum but holding off til 12 weeks, I sent photos to the baby's daddy - I used a sperm donor btw not sure if I’ve mentioned that - and he was all emotional too, it was just the best 10 mins of my life in that scan, honestly.

@Emmilou82 hope everything goes great tonight, keep us updated xx

Losd · 23/04/2019 17:16

Ps Mamabear I was dying for scan to be earlier too but think that would be worse cos they probably wouldn’t be able to see anything and then you’d be in limbo waiting another few days or a week xx

Summersun8383 · 23/04/2019 17:29

Awww that's great news @Losd so pleased it went well

GrannyClanger · 23/04/2019 18:13

Wonderful news @Losd! I called my GP and have my booking app mid May 😄 telling my parents on Friday, I can’t wait any longer!

Aims4488 · 23/04/2019 18:20

Really please all went well @Losd been watching the thread today to see how it went for you.

I called my GP today and have a midwife appointment for the 21st May seems like ages away as yet 🤦🏻‍♀️ GP also called me later on to ask how I was feeling especially with the miscarriage history which I thought was nice until he told me that he will have to do me a prescription for folic acid as regular over the counter will not be enough as in his words "your last bmi we have recorded you are on the heavy side" way to talk to a pregnant lady there!! Anyone else been told this at all?

Certainly very bloated still & my god gassy is as understatement I have never burped so much in my life than what I have done today. Also emotional today I had a little cry in the toilets at work as everything just got on top of me.

Losd · 23/04/2019 18:55

Aw @Aims4488 don’t worry your GP just taking precautions although could have worded that a bit better!! Rude. My bmi is 29 so I’m only a squeak off obese and nobody has mentioned my weight so far. I’m on prescription folic acid too because I take medication that prevents me absorbing enough folic acid for pregnancy but not a high dose because he said my vegan diet will have enough folate-which was a great theory but this week I can’t even look at vegetables without heaving so might need to rethink dose.

PinkSpring · 23/04/2019 19:01

Can I join?

I got my BFP last week, EDD is 15th December.

This will be our second, our DD is two.

I am excited but also scared, I had an awful pregnancy last time with hyperemesis and I really don't want to go through that again. Over the last couple of days I have started to feel sick, so it is making me panic a bit. It's manageable at the moment though.

I haven't called the midwife yet as last time I had to call back when I was seven weeks before they would even book me in.

I don’t know if my message posted, but can I join too? I got my positive test confirmed yesterday, and based on my first day of my last period I am due Christmas Day! I am anxious with emetophobia but I saw the doctor today and he has prescribed me some anti-sickness tablets and gave me a number for a counsellor, which I have tried calling today but they closed at 5pm (I didn’t get home until about 5.10pm), so I left my details at their request and they should call me back, so I am expecting a call tomorrow.

Congratulations everyone! Wishing you all a healthy and happy pregnancy!

Emmilou82 · 23/04/2019 20:02

So, just got back from the doctors and we have a scan on Thursday at 12pm to confirm it's not ectopic due to reversal....I'm excited but nervous!

Got my first midwife appointment on 21st May at 10am to do the usual blood tests and checks etc....

Oooooh it's starting to feel real now Grin

Aims4488 · 23/04/2019 21:00

@Losd thats more what annoyed me just his choice of words plus i was already having an emotional day whilst at work and had to go and have a moment outside.

Congratulations @BeckyG86 I also suffer with emetophobia and really quite anxious about when morning sickness kicks in, had some slight nausea last night but managed to have a couple of mints to help ease it.

Congratulations @PinkSpring I am only 4 weeks but the receptionist happily booked my midwife appointment for me and said nothing about calling back later on.

lordofthefries · 23/04/2019 21:22

Hi ladies, this thread moves so quick!. I’m 8 weeks now, only 4 more to go before we can tell everyone and it all starts to feel real. And only 8 to go until we know the sex of this little one. It seems to be dragging though.

Mamabear12 · 24/04/2019 05:52

BeckyG86 , welcome! I think I responded to your other post, but fellow emetaphobia sufferer here. I have had it since I was 7/8. I would say wait to take the pills to the first signs of nausea. You might be lucky. My first two pregnancies felt great the whole time, even when giving birth. I am a bit scared third time around, but hoping I will have the same luck. At the moment, I am feeling a whole lot of nothing, so it seems like this pregnancy will be the same as my first two. Many of my friends were fine during pregnancy including my sister. I only had one friend who had morning sickness first 12 weeks and one who suffered the dreaded hypermensis. And I know a lot of women who have had babies!

My advice would be try not to worry, as it might not happen. Usually it starts 6 weeks (from research) and if you make it to 8 weeks with out suffering you will be fine. The reason is the hormone that causes rises until 8 weeks and then starts to lower when the placenta takes over. Prepare yourself with natural relief before taking tablets. Such as ginger ale, ginger tea in the house, crackers etc. Eat smaller lighter meals through out the day...I am eating as normal...and I never prepared really, but that is what I read to do to help cope with it.

I found out they make my midwife appointment when I am out of town...even though I let them know the days I will be out of country...grrr. So will need to call them today to change it.

@Emmilou82 ohhhh scan tomorrow!!! (I was asleep so early last night haha) That’s amazing you don’t have to wait long now! Will keep everything crossed that your baby is in the right place 🤞 xxx

Emmilou82 · 24/04/2019 07:41

Thank you @Losd problem is I need to tell my boss today so I'm a bit nervous even though she's a good friend Confused

She will be happy for us but still it's going to disrupt the workings of the office.

December2018 · 24/04/2019 07:45

@Emmilou82 I have to tell my boss I'm not returning to work after mat leave 😂 I'll only work a month and then I'll be off on mat leave again 😂.... not looking forward to that

Emmilou82 · 24/04/2019 08:27

@December2018 wow..... I'd love that lol. Good luck with that one x
