Christmas babies

Mamabear12 · 14/04/2019 17:23

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

My scan is today too LOSD! Terrified! Good luck!

Mamabear12 · 23/04/2019 07:03

I just saw a tinge of spotting when I wiped, but it looked more like a tinge of old blood and the tiniest tinge, but still has be scared!! As I worry it could progress. :( I pray that everything is okay and it returns to just being clear discharge. Going to call today to find out when I can get a scan, wish I could get one today, but have a feeling it would be too early as I am not quite 6 weeks.

Thank you @Mamabear12 I’m an absolute nervous wreck 😫 Going to be a long day, appointment is at 3:15 but will have to be there around 2pm to find a parking space, it’s a terrible hospital for that.

@EmeraldRubyShark-good luck!! Keep us updated 🥰

@Emmilou82 my sister smoked throughout her pregnancy, her doctor told her to cut down but not to go through nicotine withdrawal etc as it would stress her out, she smoked about 5 a day (so she says, I think probably more) and he’s the healthiest 5 year old ever now. Obviously not advocating smoking but cutting down is a good start and the Gp should give you patches or something don’t worry. I have a close family member in palliative care just now and I smoke a 0% nicotine vape before and after visiting everyday, and at bedtime it’s like my emotional crutch. I get that I especially with my miscarriage history shouldn’t do it but it stops me having emotional breakdowns and I’ve discussed it with EPAS and Tommy’s midwives who can’t approve it but don’t disapprove it either 🤷🏻‍♀️ Xx

Losd · 23/04/2019 07:10

@Mamabear12 I was told that spots of old blood are normal don’t worry ❤️❤️ They might still be able to scan you before 6 weeks though or offer you an appointment in a few days to put your mind at rest xx

Mamabear12 · 23/04/2019 07:12

Losd thanks, that does make me feel better. Its just different from my first two pregnancies so I am a bit worried! But I understand not all pregnancies are the same etc. Just wish I did not worry so much! And yesterday I did a lot of walking, standing, up and down the stairs...was exhausted by end of day...could feel it in my body. So today I will try to make some more time for resting.

@Losd thank you..... I want to stop so that's a good thing I just need that bit of help.

Good luck with your scan today.... I'll think about you at 3.15 x

Nervousdave · 23/04/2019 08:31

I'm back at work today for the first time since we found out on Friday....and this morning my occasional waves of nausea turned into full blown morning sickness 🤢 im nibbling a cracker on the way to work, I have to take tablets every morning (safe for preggo, checked before ttc 😉) and I cant afford to throw them up! 6+3 today.

Summersun8383 · 23/04/2019 09:22

Morning everyone, how long did it take you all to get your booking appointments? I did my form at the GP but we literally have the worst doctors so I have no faith that it's been passed on at all! Just wondering how long I should wait before chasing it up?

EmeraldRubyShark · 23/04/2019 10:13

Hey!

The scan went great :) she said I’m only five weeks so she wouldn’t expect to see the baby, but we saw the sac and yolk and crucially it’s in the right location, so not ectopic! Which is a huge relief as that was a major risk for me. I’ve attached an image from my app, it’s not my picture but the scan I had was identical to this. The black bean shape is the sac and the little white ball the yolk. I thought I was 5+6 and she said I’m ‘only five weeks’ so not sure if that means I’m 5+0 or I’m only a few days off my estimate. Probably due to however long implantation took as I know my ovulation date. I go back in two weeks to check how baby is growing.

She started with an external scan over my belly and she couldn’t see anything, she said there was no sign of pregnancy in there and asked me if I’d been having any pains, which I immediately thought meant she suspected ectopic and was devastated. But then I went for a wee so we could do an internal scan, it was super easy, very dignified with the paper draped over my knees and she barely looked at me other than slipping the wand in. And then she could see it more clearly and I saw the screen. No baby but the sac and yolk. It was so emotional, so relieved it was in the uterus and to see some evidence someone is setting up home in there!

Hopefully in two weeks we might see the baby or even a little heartbeat as I know I’m still in danger zone so early and anything could happen between now and then.

In a nutshell she said she could see everything she needed and wanted to at this stage. So far so good though still extremely cautious. What a rollercoaster with the ‘no sign of pregnancy’ belly scan. God.

Emmilou82 · 23/04/2019 10:25

@EmeraldRubyShark that's great news.... I bet you're so pleased. I know I would be x

Summersun8383 · 23/04/2019 10:27

@EmeraldRubyShark aww lovely news! Bet you're so pleased

Losd · 23/04/2019 10:35

@EmeraldRubyShark amazing news!! Congratulations you must be absolutely ecstatic ❤️
@NervousDave good luck back at work today x
@Summersun8383 I self referred to midwife at 4 weeks and was given an appointment date straight away but it’s not til Friday so 7 and a half weeks pregnant, I’m in Scotland so think we do things differently I’m afraid
@Mamabear12 you probably dislodged some old blood with all the moving around, apparently it’s not uncommon to bleed after an ultrasound because they squish old blood out haha gross, so try to relax today
@Emmilou82 thank you, I’m a state honestly I’ve totally convinced myself I’ll be told the sac is empty again, I’ll update as soon as I can xx

Comps83 · 23/04/2019 10:40

I know we all just want a healthy baby but what do you and DP prefer?
He wants a boy
I want twins. A boy and a girl! Grin

Summersun8383 · 23/04/2019 10:42

Thank you @Losd yeah I think it must be different unfortunately as I'm sure it would be more efficient that way. Can't even find a number for our local midwives so suppose I'll just have to sit tight and keep my fingers crossed I hear something soon

Summersun8383 · 23/04/2019 10:43

Good luck today too @Losd

EmeraldRubyShark · 23/04/2019 10:44

Thanks so much all! Still very nervous but hoping for a good result in a fortnight. And hoping the baby has grown by then. It’s hard cos it’s good news so far but still doesn’t mean something won’t go wrong. Roll on twelve weeks so I can finally relax (that feels like my own personal timeline where I’ll be more comfortable with the risks).

As for boy or girl, we’re both delighted with either but I think on the whole I’d prefer a girl and OH a boy. I noticed I’m only fantasising about girls names!

BeckyG86 · 23/04/2019 10:51

I got a positive test yesterday (very faint positive on Sunday but confirmed yesterday) and based on the first day of my last period I am due on Christmas Day.

Nervousdave · 23/04/2019 11:05

Good news @emerald!
Thanks @losd, I have a potentially risky job coming up so i had to have a chat with my supervisor this morning and tell him. He was over the moon and so happy for me! Feels so strange that a work person is the first person I've told Haha, but he needs to do risk assessments for me to work now.
I think I'd rather have a boy, because I have only had brothers not sisters so only know about raising boys, but I would also be blown away by a little girl xx

Emmilou82 · 23/04/2019 11:18

@Comps83 I'd like a girl. I have a boy already so would like a girl but I'm happy either way..... my hubby already has a boy and two girls so he's team blue lol x

Mamabear12 · 23/04/2019 12:03

EmeraldRubyShark congratulations on the positive scan!

Losd , thanks that makes me feel better and I think you are right! Nothing else since this morning and I did a clearable digital that says 3+ weeks so pregnancy is progressing (last week was 2-3 weeks).

peasando · 23/04/2019 12:26

@EmeraldRubyShark congrats on the positive scan, my early scan isnt until next Wednesday (I'll be 6+3) and the time is really dragging!

@Comps83 I know it's a cop out but I really don't mind either way! With my son I was 100% convinced I was having a girl and I suppose that's what I originally wanted if I'm honest, but I can't imagine not having a wee boy now. Now I'd be happy with a girl so I had one of each, or a boy so my son has a brother to play with - genuinely can't decide what I'd prefer.

Not twins though...😱

Losd · 23/04/2019 13:23

I genuinely just want a healthy baby but if someone had a gun to my head I would say I would love a little girl, I think that’s really just because I have a nephew who is my favourite human ever and think it would be amazing for my parents to have one of each, I want 2 kids though so a boy and a girl would be epic.

Summersun8383 · 23/04/2019 13:40

Well I was right to doubt my doctors....managed to get a number for the midwife so called this morning to chase up my form, they hadn't received it!Confused Luckily it was the same midwife as last time so she booked me in and now have my booking app for 9 May! Smile Feel like things are moving now lol

JGWelsh · 23/04/2019 15:51

I don't understand the process of booking a scan, I rang my doctors and they booked me a doc appointment for when I am around 8 weeks. Then do I have to wait for them to refer me to a midwife for my first scan? I'm in Wales if that makes a difference. Sorry, I just can't seem to make sense of things when I try to Google.

I can't even think about gender right now.... Time is going so slow and I still haven't told anyone :( I'm going crazy!
