Christmas babies

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

@lordofthefries lol!! So glad it's not just me! Such a glamorous time isn't it ha

lordofthefries · 21/04/2019 21:49

@Summersun8383 I’m having the worst time, I’m sick most days, if I’m not being sick then it’s the other end, my skin has gone crazy and my hormones are everywhere. But it’ll all be worth it in 32 weeks

Emmilou82 · 22/04/2019 05:12

Morning folks..... another early wake up for me! I'm sick of not sleeping.
I keep waking up at 4 and not getting back to sleep.

We decided to tell my mum and MIL yesterday.... they are absolutely over the moon but we aren't telling anyone else until we've had scans.

Felt a bit nauseous when I got up this morning which is a first but hopefully that will settle down.

Woke up starving too which is not like me....I'm not a breakfast person and can't normally face food until about 9.30.

Excited to go to the GP tomorrow to get referred etc. How does it work nowadays? Do they book online for scans or do they write to the midwife and we wait for an appointment? I'm a bit out of touch as my son is almost 12.... I'm excited and want a scan date Grin

Mamabear12 · 22/04/2019 06:30

Emmilou82 omg I am having the same early wake ups! I manage to sleep until 5am (I probably woke around 4am and got to sleep a little more). So frustrating as I would like to sleep until 6am a little more. I have 2 dc and a puppy - so 8 hours sleep is a must! But I am getting 7 every night because of the early waking.

I referred myself online, as in our area you can do that instead of going to the GP. My youngest is 5 so I feel out of touch with what goes on as well...but mumsnet helps me with this stuff.

I was going to wait to do scan at 10 weeks for harmony test, but now I think ill do one at 6 weeks.

@Mamabear12 ever since I found out it's as if a switch has been pressed and I can't sleep past 4am. I don't mind but I'm having to nap mid afternoon as I'm so exhausted. That's ok til I go back to work tomorrow lol..... I'll just put my head down in my desk and have 10 minutes lol
I decided to study instead of just sitting around, so I'm making use of my time luckily!!
I'm not sure if we can book online. I'll just see what the DR says tomorrow. Hoping we get the reassurance 6 week scan as suggested by the private hospital we had the reversal at. If not I'll book a private scan myself just to put my mind at rest x
Wow, little ones and a puppy..... you are a busy lady x

Mamabear12 · 22/04/2019 07:00

Emmilou82 And for the last hour I’ve had a random cat at my front window asking to come in! Lol. If my dh wasn’t allergic I would have! Lol. I’m not sure why the cat keep staring at me like it knows me. Maybe it’s confused and thinks I’m the owner.

I’ve been waking early and no naps! But kids return to school tomorrow so I’ll be able to sneak some naps in! Lol. I tried yesterday and within 30 mins my daughter came in twice and my son once!

I’m sure they will refer you for an early scan with the tube reversal. I will just go private for it, as I doubt they would refer me and I don’t want to go to the GP if I don’t have to!

Ahhh, that's the problem isn't it, little ones disturbing you?! Luckily my son being 12, I hardly see him as he's in his room either online with his mates or watching the iPad so I can get 10 minutes on the sofa. OH is noisy though which gets on my nerves lol.

Losd · 22/04/2019 07:31

I was waking at 4am too for a couple of weeks but it’s extended to 5:15-5:30 this week, I’m demented. I don’t have any kids so could nap but I’m steroid dependent so when I wake up I have to take a steroid and that means I physically can’t sleep til it wears off, it’s a nightmare but hopefully I’ll sleep til 6:30 by next week!

Emmilou82 · 22/04/2019 08:10

@Losd that's the time my alarm goes off for work 5.30 so I'd be happy with that lol.

Eliza9919 · 22/04/2019 08:38

How much roughly is it to have an extra/early scan?

Beaglemum93 · 22/04/2019 08:41

It's £79 where I've booked mine @Eliza9919

ELJ1502 · 22/04/2019 09:06

@Eliza9919 you can get Groupon deals for them. My friend only paid £40 for an early gender scan.

Eliza9919 · 22/04/2019 09:53

Ok, so not silly money. I might look into a 6 week one then.

Would they offer me one? My mum could only carry to around 6m and my sister has had 2 MC and a stillbirth, at 6m.

Once we reach far enough along I might look at getting a Doppler too. But I don't want to encourage anxiety about this. I'm not normally an anxious person at all.

frillyfarmer · 22/04/2019 11:17

@Losd yes I've looked at that a fair bit since finding out. I've been happily distracted as it's Easter and I have one chocolate mad DC. Anything to keep me off of the internet wildly googling stuff would be ideal. I'm still on the TTC after MC thread as I've found a lot of comfort in those - it's sometimes quite daunting on the pregnancy chat threads as I'm not quite in the excitement stage yet and realistically my anxiety is not going to subside until I've seen a heartbeat!

Emmilou82 · 22/04/2019 11:33

Anyone getting extreme hunger to the point that their blood sugar levels are dropping? This has happened 2 days running now and it's caused me to have a migraine! Just what I don't need

Losd · 22/04/2019 12:26

I don’t know about my blood sugar levels but I’m waking up so hungry I feel sick and dizzy, then because I feel sick it’s hard to eat! Eating so much absolute crap after eating so healthy when TTC, it’s awful! I’ve put on 4lbs in last 2 weeks from eating bagels and gingernuts!

Aims4488 · 22/04/2019 12:41

Hi all

Hope its ok to join you all, took a pregnancy test on Saturday and got my bfp Smile online it is giving me an edd of the 28th December. Got everything crossed this baby sticks as in 2017 unfortunately we had an early miscarriage at 5 weeks and have been trying with no success since.

Still in a bit of shock also as I only started a new job 2 weeks ago 😬 but big believer of everything happens for a reason and my OH has been so supportive.

Emmilou82 · 22/04/2019 15:01

Congratulations @Aims4488

@Losd I've not got sickness yet. I sometimes feel queezy but generally I'm good. It does unnerve me that so far I've nothing.

Just bought a jar of decaf coffee which makes me sad lol....I'm a huge coffee addict but know. I have to stop. It's actually not too bad (she says as she's takes her first sip!

I really must stop doing pregnancy tests too lol.... just been to Boots to buy some makeup and bought a CB digital cos I wanted to see it writing lol... like I've got money to waste now! Sure enough it says 'pregnant 3+'. Im happy now Grin

frillyfarmer · 22/04/2019 17:07

@Aims4488 that is my EDD as well! I think I'm going to head over to the main Dec thread soon as the month bus groups usually have a fb group which I find easier to follow if I get past 12 wk.

Losd · 22/04/2019 18:15

Congratulations @Aims4488 !!

@Emmilou82 I don’t have proper sickness, like I haven’t thrown up at all I’m just getting waves of nausea, I was 6 weeks and 2 days when it started and I was getting a bit worried about not feeling sick as well, but my friend had a baby 2 weeks ago and had zero symptoms the whole pregnancy except for lack of periods so don’t think it means anything x

Gettingonabitnow · 22/04/2019 18:46

Is it too late to join please?! Due date New Year’s Day 2020! Feeling a bit lost at having a due date around the holidays so some company would be great x

Emmilou82 · 22/04/2019 18:51

@Losd I could cope with having no sickness I guess I'm just wanting that extra reassurance lol

My husband has just said for the first time ever he's looking forward to going to the Drs tomorrow ha ha ha....I think we both just want to know what the next step is. The long weekend hasn't helped!

Losd · 22/04/2019 19:16

@Gettingonabitnow Congratulations! I’m due 11th December but will probably be nearer Christmas too as it’s my first 🙄 Wee Christmas
@Emmilou82 I’m so excited/scared for tomorrow, if it’s bad news I just want to know, but if it’s good then I’ll feel more confident about getting excited! My scan was meant to be today but it was an error in the system so they phoned and changed it to allow for the holiday, bet it’s a long day tomorrow for us both x

Emmilou82 · 23/04/2019 06:01

Urgh, back to work today..... I've still got a banging migraine and woke at 3am to pee! Dreading getting through today. Ah well, needs must

Not to cause a riot or anything but do we have any smokers? Are you finding it hard to quit? I have cut down by about half but hopefully when I see the dr tonight, he will tell me if I can use patches as I am struggling to stop altogether!

Mamabear12 · 23/04/2019 06:04

Losd good luck today! Keep us updated.

Its another 5am wake up for me, but I kind of enjoy the quiet time before everyone wakes up. Even the dog is still sleeping in her crate lol. Its the only time of day I am alone. When she wakes she is mostly my shadow through out the day. She even follows me into the toilet! :)

Today I am going to make a booking for a 6 week scan. I have decided to go ahead with it, as when I visit my mother I will tell her. I will be around 8 weeks when I tell her.
