Christmas babies

Just found out I’m expected a Christmas baby, well due 23 December according to online, which has been accurate in the past give or take a day! I know my cycle etc. Excited and nervous. Had some minor spotting the past few days, but AF never showed so took a test today and it was positive!

Anyone else due within days of Xmas? Might take a few days for people to find out if they are expecting a xmas baby. But thought I would start the thread now.

Losd As the others have said this can happen for some. My first pregnancy a missed period and slightly bigger boobs were my only symptom. A week or two after my positive test I felt my boobs going back to normal. Can’t beleive I actually waited until 12 weeks to get scanned! I was so worried there would be nothing in there. But all was well and she is now 7!

I’ve also been wondering now about my boobs not feeling as heavy as before. I have decided this time around I’ll get an early scan.

Morning all,

I have to admit, I keep pressing my boobs just to make sure they still hurt because I have no other symptoms. I don't feel sick or anything.... we have a drs appointment on Tuesday to get referred for an early reassurance scan. We need to check it's not ectopic due to my reversal. I think once we have that I will feel a bit better.

Losd · 21/04/2019 07:09

@Mamabear12 Yeah it’s so nervewracking when the symptoms come and go, I get nervous when I lose the fullness and pain but it normally just reduces a bit, disappearing altogether so quickly last night really rattled me. So far I don’t really have other symptoms, I’ve had 2 major nausea waves over past couple of days and some food aversions but nothing consistent, so Im really relying on my boobs 😂 I got my BFP at 11dpo, on Mother’s Day! I went straight to EPAS the next day and got booked in for scan as they advised 7 week scan due to previous losses.
I wasn’t paying attention to my symptoms with my first pregnancy and was happy to wait til 12 weeks so I don’t actually remember what happened to symptoms before losing it, but I’m hypersensitive to everything now. Don’t worry about your boobs being less full or sensitive, I don’t think that means anything at all but I’ll always advocate an early scan! Will you get it at an EPAS or private? If everything is ok at 7 weeks I’m asking for a scan at 9/10 weeks plus 12 weeks but if they won’t do it I’m going private for the 10 week one x

Losd · 21/04/2019 07:11

@Emmilou82 I’m genuinely obsessed with boob checking, haven’t told anyone and my friend asked me the other day why I was molesting myself 😳😳didn’t even realise I was doing it.
How far on are you? Hope you get scan soon x

Emmilou82 · 21/04/2019 07:16

@Losd that made me LOL....
I find I hold my tummy a lot already which my husband picked up on the other day so I need to watch that when I go back to work or people will get suspicious
I'm only 5+2 but the surgeon where I had my procedure says I'll need a 6 week reassurance scan so fingers crossed my DR has no issues referring me.
I'll go private if not I think just to be sure.

Losd · 21/04/2019 07:20

I’m managing to stay away from my tummy so far but obsessed with my boobs so I’ll need to watch that when I go back to work next month, yikes!
I’m sure your doctor will refer you don’t worry, we can both update on Tuesday. My scan is at 330pm, hopefully you can share your scan date and I can share a heartbeat x

Emmilou82 · 21/04/2019 07:23

We have our appointment at 7pm with DR so yes, I'll definitely let you know what goes on.....

OH is struggling to keep it to himself lol.... he's dying to tell his mum but I just want to wait until we have had a scan to make sure it's viable really.

My mum is a retired midwife and Id love to tell her but she will tell my sister and I don't want it coming out just yet so I need to keep it zipped! Confused

Losd · 21/04/2019 07:35

Aw God I know the feeling, it’s killing me keeping it to myself! I can’t tell my mum because I don’t want her worried or upset if I lose it so I’m telling nobody, although I’m pretty sure my big fat mouth will end up telling my best mate at some point soon if everything is ok on Tuesday. My aunt is a midwife at the hospital I’m attending though and I’m already raging at the thought of her finding out first!! She works in labour ward so hopefully can avoid her just now, got EPAS on Tuesday which is a different area to labour ward then day hospital on Friday for booking in, I’m not sure where that is but hopefully miles from aunts ward. She only started there 2 weeks ago, how typical is that?! 🤬
Bet your mum figures it out btw, mums are scary but a midwife mum will know even quicker 😂

Emmilou82 · 21/04/2019 08:25

Exactly, we just know that she will know lol

OMG, fancy that! 2 weeks ago! Patient confidentiality and all that so she can't say anything but yes, I think I'd be a bit miffed if she knew before your mum.

I'm going to have to tell work early too because my job can get stressful and can involve lifting heavy car exhaust parts, plus if I'm going to need early scans etc. I'm gonna have to take time off and I don't want to use holidays lol. We don't get many as it is. My boss is a very good friend so she won't say anything to anyone until I'm ready.

It's all very exciting but bloody scary too.

ELJ1502 · 21/04/2019 08:33

Need some advice.

I bled a little last night after sex, but then when I wiped there was barely anything there. I've checked this morning and I have dark brown watery discharge when wiping.

I googled last night and lots of thread mentioned it as something normal as long as there was no pain and no prolonged bleeding. There's no pain different to the normal aches.

Obviously with it being Easter weekend the number I have for a community midwife will be out of action and the GP will be closed.

Do I take the advice and just relax or is there something else I should do?

Emmilou82 · 21/04/2019 08:43

@ELJ1502 I'm not sure of the answer but I have heard that brown blood isn't a bad sign, it's when it's bright red but like I say I'm not sure.....
If you are concerned can you ring 111 for advice? Surly they have an out of hours pregnancy service.
Fingers crossed you get the reassurance you need x

frillyfarmer · 21/04/2019 08:55

@Losd I'm the same as you - after previous MC I just cannot relax at all. I need to sort my booking appt this week so I can try get an early scan, although organising stuff makes me think I will jinx it all.

RLI1105 · 21/04/2019 09:54

Hi everyone,

I took a bit of a backseat from this thread to just get to grips with all the changes. I'm not going to lie, I have found it all very stressful! The main thing has been my IBS going from 0-60. Obviously I had read about the gastric changes but the pain and cramping has been hideous. It's been better the last two days and I have started a few things to help me cope.

@peasando I took me last Clearblue digital yesterday morning and it said 3+ too! 😂 If it was accurate it should have said 2-3 but I'm not complaining! It's obviously going the right way!

@Emmilou82 I don't have any real symptoms yet either except the horribly slow digestion and tender boobs sometimes. No nausea yet! It's easy to compare but I'm trying not to worry! In a couple of weeks we'll probably be desperate for a life without nausea!😂

So I have a question about how far along everyone is and how you worked it out. Basically, do you take your luteal phase into account?
My period was due last Friday and I got a BFP on the Saturday. I ovulate late though (day 17 last cycle according to FF) and only have a 10 day luteal phase.
Does that make me 3 days behind? My app says I'm 5+1 but really an I only 4+5?

That was very wordy, sorry! 😂😂

lordofthefries · 21/04/2019 09:59

Morning all, it’s been so hot by me it’s lovely. It’s got me worrying though, I’ll be in the late teens to mid 20s (weeks pregnant) in July and August and if it’s going to be as hot as this I’m not sure how I’ll cope. I’m already starting to get a bump sort of thing and I can imagine I will be huge if I keep growing at this rate, I’m glad that I had my early scan because with the amount of symptoms and how big my bump is, I’d honestly be worried it’s twins.

I’m also sweating so much, I’m off to have a shower now because I’ve sweat that much in the night.

Eliza9919 · 21/04/2019 10:45

@RLI1105 it's worked out on day 1 being the first day of your last period.

RLI1105 · 21/04/2019 10:52

@Eliza9919 thanks for messaging back! So I am 5+1 then. 👍 It feels good to have cleared the 4 week mark

forevercurious · 21/04/2019 10:59

Hi everyone :) I’m glad I’m not the only one constantly pressing on my boobs to make sure they still hurt!

I’m so worried something is going to go wrong - can you request an early scan or do they not offer them to everyone?

Keep having little waves of nausea which is unpleasant but reassuring at the same time!

Going to be spending this afternoon with the in-laws and tomorrow with both of our families and it’s going to be so hard to not say anything. Although I really do want to wait until the 12 week mark :)

frillyfarmer · 21/04/2019 11:10

@forevercurious I'm having an early scan because of my history of MC and risk of ectopic but there are criteria on NHS. You can pay for an early private scan if you want.

I'm just trying not to stress out, I have quite a lot of nausea but it's not comforting because I had those symptoms last time after MC 😩

@lordofthefries my DC1 was a September baby so I was heavily pregnant in the summer. I started to work from home because I just couldn't cope with clothes and heat 😂 I did invest in a good paddling pool.

forevercurious · 21/04/2019 11:31

@frillyfarmer it’s so hard not to stress and overthink isn’t it! I haven’t even contacted a midwife yet as I only found out Thursday afternoon. Good luck for your early scan :)

Losd · 21/04/2019 11:49

@Emmilou82 that’s great that you’re friends with your boss, that will definitely make it easier. I’ve been off work for 18months due to being seriously ill, going back in May and then will have to say I’m pregnant and going to be off again!! Mortified 😳😂 I have a 25kg dog who’s 16 and a half years old and I have to lift him in and out of the car, he has a ramp but it’s heavier than him, I’m just trying to minimise car trips just now but that’s really the only heavy “thing” I need to lift, it’s good you found out early so you can stop lifting at work x
@Frillyfarmer I think the EPAS midwives must think I’m a miserable cow cos I slunk in there on 1st April and spoke to them about getting scan etc in the most depressed tone ever, but it’s my self defence mechanism to minimise my heartbreak if I lose another one. I’m doing all the right things to keep the baby healthy but don’t feel pregnant because I’m expecting to miscarry 24/7
Have you tried datayze.com? Miscarriage odds reassurer? I would recommend it to all of us in the early stages, it’s been such a reassuring tool x

Comps83 · 21/04/2019 17:05

So MIL now knows
DH freaked out when she told him she was going to get a date soon for a very high risk operation
Turns out she’d read the letter wrong and the risk is no where near what she thought
Oh well its out there now
I still don’t want to tell my dad until his 60th bd in June
No idea what to do about my mother
We went NC about nine months ago , but I still see her Mam so it will get back to my horrid mother eventually.

MamaGeordie · 21/04/2019 18:19

Tentatively posting after receiving my BFP today. EDD 29th December and it would be DC3. You'd think I'd know what I was doing by now but here I am, forum searching/googling every last detail! Last pregnancy ended in MC so I'm a tad anxious but hanging onto hope that this is meant to be.

As it happens I'm a Xmas baby and so is my son - we share our birthday on 16th. Imagine if this one came along on that date too!

Summersun8383 · 21/04/2019 20:10

Well we told the family today and they're over the moon! Definitely feels more real now! I've been reading about people having symptoms with bowel movements....well my word that has started today lolConfused Didn't have that with my first so its all new! To be honest though any symptom
I'm happy for at the min as it just puts your mind at rest a little during the very long wait for a first scan! Hope everyone has enjoyed the sunshine today xx

snowflakeeel · 21/04/2019 20:39

After lurking boards for the past two pregnancies I've taken the plunge and joined a forum but I seem to have gotten a little over excited this time around and i'm posting all over the place! it's hard to keep up!
Got my BFP yesterday, 17dpo, due date is Christmas day. Tested at 13dpo but nada so thought I was out. Had a glass of wine that night and two paracetamol a couple of days later as I was convinced AF was approaching. Happy Easter all and looking forward to this enjoying this little community. X

lordofthefries · 21/04/2019 21:01

@Summersun8383 I’ve had the trots for a week now, I don’t think there’s anything left in me!.
