Ooooh, can't wait to hear from Firsty - I'll go and check teh antenatal thread in a minute in case she's lurking on there... Hang on in there Babymad - it can be really frustrating can't it . Oooh, so much exciting times ahead...

And KITKAT - I had totally missed the post that you'd had your baby - what a total numpty I am!!! . That is such wonderful news and great that Joe is doing well. There seem to be a few recently that went 5 weeks early - there was a real spate of them on the due in july thead. I'm so pleased for you and can't wait to see the pic . How are things now?

Iampg - I hope things have settled down and DP is being a bit easier to live with

Wow, wierd dreams Fettle. Really good on you for the day off - dont think of it as skiving, just a way of relaxing and preventing yourself from having more time off. It sounds like DD is loving having your mum there.

Things are much better here today - I think I was just tired and hormonal. I had a much better night last night and the thrush seems to be on its way out - Hooorrray! so feeding is much more enjoyable. We went out today and got some real nappies to try - I hope DS2 likes them.

Hi to everyone else!!! We miss you Greedy - pop on when you can

Chooster · 02/08/2007 16:40

Hello MrsMc!!!!! Big wave to you too - you just finishing up at work?

MrsMcJnr · 02/08/2007 16:49

Hello 20 minutes to go today and couting ...also 20 weeks tomorrow and counting until mat leave

fettleandminifettle · 02/08/2007 18:16

Quiet on here today, the one day I can check and post all day!!!

Had a good day, but tired again now! - DD is just in the bath, so once she's in bed, think I'll go too - DH must be shattered after his really late/early night after travelling back from holland and being out and about most of the day.

Chooster - glad to hear you sounding better today - let us know how the nappies go, still contemplating doing my bit for the environment on the nappy-front!!

Bodders - sounds as if you need Honey's 7ft bed, if you're going to get all 4 of you asleep in your bed! not sure I would have got any sleep - would have just been cuddling them all night. I love sleeping with DD, but we had to stop it about a year ago, as none of us were getting any sleep at all. While DH was Iraq last summer, she came through to my bed in the middle of the night nearly every night and as I was lonely, I didn't really protest as I secretly really loved the company myself, as she did too. But when DH came back, he put a stop to it!. All for the best though really!

Right, time for stories.

No idea how that happened - only pressed the button once!!

Bodkin · 02/08/2007 18:25

Oooh Chooster - which nappies did you go for? I'm now on the washables, terries and when they are all dirty, some motherease which are sooooo huge on her atm - she looks like a dung-beetle in them! so far no major explosions..... fingers crossed. Its the constant stream of possit/projectile pukes coming out of her mouth that is creating the biggest mound of washing in the bodkin household!

Hi Fettle - hope you had a lovely day

fettleandminifettle · 02/08/2007 19:10

Hey Greeds - just read in the paper today that Peter Phillips is engaged to someone called Autumn. Don't know if that makes you like your choice more or not? Suppose it depends on your feelings of connection to Royalty!!!

BabyMadandBIGbump · 02/08/2007 19:11

Talking about nappies, we went to the "Babyshow" back in May, and tommee tippee's cotton bottoms were half price so we brought the "Birth to Potty pack" which was £250 we brought for £125, plus my local Council give you (a single payment for each child) £25 back when you spend over £50 on reuseable nappies, so in fact we brought 3 years worth of nappies for £100 which isn't bad at all!

Hi - we got a couple of bambeasy to try - at least I think thats what they are called. We wanted to try a couple first to see how we got on with them. They feel so so soft! Much nicer than the disposables. Its worth a try eh?

Chooster · 02/08/2007 21:05

You got a good deal there babymad - hopefully you'll be using them soon enough

BabyMadandBIGbump · 03/08/2007 08:24

Morning Ladies feel so very down and teary today, I had a bad dream that DS#2 died in an accident and I cant shake it off, every time think about it in any way I just burst into tears with deep sadness, I got up early and had a hot milky drink as I thought it might help but not seemed to have worked very well, DS#2 isn't even up yet I just hope that when I see him I don't bust into tears and upset him! back soon!

OP posts:
MrsMcJnr · 03/08/2007 09:40

Hey ladies weirdest thing just happened to me. I came into work to an email from a guy that was in my ?gang? of friends when I was 14! I haven?t spoken to him for nearly 20 years and he said he saw my picture on the firm?s website ? isn?t that odd? I don?t even use my maiden name. It wouldn?t be if this all happened here but I grew up in Spain, the guy was from Belfast and I live in Edinburgh! My colleagues are teasing me saying he is a stalker to be on the firm?s website! remember he was very good looking??.!

Fettle I hope you made the most of yesterday.

Feeling a bit low about the lack of interest in our house I got into a bit of a panic last night as no one came to our open viewing again and I started to worry that we wouldn?t have it sold before the baby and that I?d have to go back to work before I want to and that we?d never get to Spain and I was almost in tears. I know now is not a great time to sell but by the end of next month we will have had it on the market a year. I just don?t get it; it is a lovely house and perfect for commuters. The same thing happened to us with our flat 3 years ago ? guess we are just not lucky with property

Hello Bodkin listening with interest to the washable nappy chat. puke, don?t like puke!

Hey Babymad happy due date! sorry to hear you are feeling so low, sending you a huge hug. Sorry to hear about your awful dream x

Hello Chooster ? how are you feeling today?

Rainbowdays · 03/08/2007 09:53

Well ladies, looks like I might be back again!!!! I have finally gone from scared fear that something was going to go wrong, to scared excitement of what the heck have I gone and done now!!! My new edd is 8th April 2008. I have had a week of very faint positives and finally getting something other than very faint, so this suggests that the baby is getting stronger I hope, and that I am not going to m/c this one too.

MrsMc - sorry to hear that you are feeling low about the house, I hope that someone comes and snaps it up soon for you .

Babymad- oh poor you with the horrible dream, hope you are able to distract yourself with things today. Pg dreams feel so so real, not nice.

fettle - well done on taking a sicky, hope you are feelimng better today?

Congrats to all those who have given birth since I was last here. Hope you are all enjoying the newbaby days.

Chooster · 03/08/2007 12:37

i dont think i will EVER be moving back form my parents house at this rate............neither of my kids have a bedroom at the moment and my FIL is in our bedroom, and dh is on the sofa! i think i had better stay on the right side of my parents cos if they get fed up with us we are BUGGERED!!!!!!

fettleandminifettle · 04/08/2007 20:02

Oh Greedy - it will be ok - this is probably the worse time, when everything is a mess and you can't see the end in sight. It will be fine and it will be all finished in time. You will not fall out with your Mum, she loves you!!

Went to see our house today, bit of a shock too finding a big hole in the wall of the kitchen, but I think it looks good, now I'm over that shock.

Firsty - missing you - hope all ok.

DH just back with take away, so must go.

love and hugs to all

Chooster · 04/08/2007 21:02

Just a quicky firsty check..... Mmmmm, We are all mad keen to know how you are x

While I'm here, can I ask a "how long is a piece of string question"... How long should a newborn baby feed for? Theo is sometimes there for about 40mins, although to be fair some of that is swapping boobs and trying to wake him up. The other times he'll have a go for about 5 mins, maybe 10 and that seems to do it. Is this normal??? I dont remember with DS1. Also, when he has a wee 5 min snack, should I pop him back on that boob for the next meal? Or start again on the other... Sorry to be asking dense questions, but I really dont remember much about the early days with Max. By the way, he is always very very content and is not distressed so I'm presuming he's doing well.

fettleandminifettle · 04/08/2007 21:51

Back again.

Chooster, can't say I really remember either, but I think DD used to feed for up to an hour at times - and sometimes only a short amount of time. I would think it is the same way as our toddlers sometimes eat as if there is going to be no food left in the world and at others aren't even tempted by a tasty chocolate biscuit (well at least that's the extremes my DD has, is she weird?). But newborns probably too have times when they are more hungry than not. I think technically you are supposed to restart on the previous boob, if you feel that you didn't finish it last time, but unless I get a marker pen out, how on earth am I going to remember which was used last!!! I never could with DD and she didn't suffer. Sounds as if you have the right attitude, as long as he seems happy when finished feeding and isn't grizzling for more, I'd say he is getting enough. How's his sleeping at night? Also is he having enough really alert, awake times, as that is also a sign that he is doing well and not underfed. HTH

Can I know ask a question? Is it normal for it to really hurt when little one moves inside you? I can't work out if there isn't enough room for him to move, so he is really kicking hard, as my bump is too small for his long legs and arms. Or whether I just have some really long-standing trapped wind (definitely trapped as not much coming out, due to iron tablets!), which he is kicking painfully. Also been having loads of pretty painless BH over the last couple of days - just not sure i can last another 8 weeks, of pretty constant pain in my stomach (although it is taking my mind off my pelvic pain!!).

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weather, if you finally have it (Mrs/Chooster, not sure what the weather is like with you, but Mum who just flew home, sent a text message saying she was going straight out to cut the grass, so it can't be too bad and it made me jealous of your really late light evenings!!!

Babymad - how you doing? i think we can safely say that Firsty is off somewhere, hopefully everything has gone well. But it means you're up next, chick!!

take care all
xxx

Chooster · 05/08/2007 16:25

Thanks Fettle - yes he has his really alert times so I reckon he must be doing well. I think I'll take him to be weighed this week to be sure.

The weather is AWFUL here today!!!! cloudy / rainy - yuk!!!! Enjoy the sun for us and try to send some up!!

fettleandminifettle · 05/08/2007 21:24

More than enough heat and sunshine to send your's and Mrs' way! Nice breeze though with it, so not too unbearable, although it is 28 deg outside!

Spent the day being ruthless with stuff we've accumulated over the last 9 months before we move out on Friday - think I've been more ruthless than ever before with my clothes - just hope I have some that fit me in the interim between maternity clothes and that svelt size 12 i'm going to become again!! (just don't think I'm going to get there much this side of next Easter!! - took about 6 months last time I tried to lose a serious amount of weight, but i'm determined to lose this babyweight and that which i've gained with DD's pregnancy and during the mc - I WILL BE SKINNY AGAIN!!!!)

Thought I'd lost this post earlier, but DH just found it!! bout 4 hours later now and we've been attacking drawers in the sitting-room and hall - all those places you just stuff paper, pens, drawing pins etc!! All nicely organised (well nearly there anyway!) Think it helps that I'm assisting with my nesting pregnancy hormones, as we are being much more ruthless than we were last 2 times we moved!! If it's not come out the drawer in 2 years (complete with moving, straight out, straight back in, then it's in the bin or charity box!!).

Anyway, pains are a bit better today, in case anyone was worried!

hope everyone enjoyed their weekends and have a good week ahead - I don't particularly want to go to work tomorrow, but our last 2 starters arrive tomorrow, so need to train them up this week, so can't really skive all week, but got antenatal appointment on Thurs afternoon and half-day on Friday, so not really a full week ahead of me!

take care all
