Morning all - finally done it, I'm taking a sicky! Well actually I'm utterly shattered and feel really sick, so my Mum persuaded me (by making me cry!!) that I really should take the day off. DD had already decided she wasn't going to nursery and wanted a day at home with my mum. DH has the day off as he got home at 230am. Really feel like I'm skivving, but DH and DM say that I'm not. It's the first sick day I've had all pregnancy, which isn't too bad! Shame the nice sunny weather doesn't seem to be around today though. Anyway, i'm cuddled up on the sofa watching rubbish daytime TV, listening to happy noise from the kitchen, where DD and DM are happily doing "arts & crafts!!" - why are grandparents so much more fun than parents?!! Poor DH has rushed off to our new house to let the builder in with his 7 foot RSJ for our wall knocking down - looking like it will be starting today! Bit scary - what happens if whole house falls down!!
Firsty, I do so hope your silence is good news - been thinking about you lots.
Babymad, I would think it's time for you to have yours now too! When did you say you had a sweep booked - next week? hope it happens before then!
Honey, hope you're still enjoying your hols - can't remember if you're away for 1 or 2 weeks.
Greedy - got your e-mail and replied - hope you got it!! How are your thoughts for mat leave going? Have you managed to sort anything? I really feel for you, my biggest worry is whether I'm going to last until end August, as I definitely beginning to feel my 50 mile round daily commute (goes up to 60 miles after we move!). Perhaps Chooster's DS1 could hook up with your DD1 and Bodders DD1 (or mine in fact!!) could hook up with your DS1!! See lots of match-making possible on-line!!
Chooster - sorry to hear you having some baby-blues - i'd say totally normal. To even be planning on taking them both to the zoo, I take it alone, this early after birth is fantastically ambitious - I'm very jealous! i hope I take to being a mother to two as well as you have. I cried buckets at times for no reason after DD's birth. And your DH sounds lovely!
MrsMc - great news on the HB and kicks - bet you're feeling loads more relaxed now. You'll definitely start to feel some movements in next few weeks, which will also be reassuring to feel. PMSL at you and student patient! Really bad that they didn't tell you up front who she was though. Glad to hear your migraines are slightly better while pg albeit still bad - interesting that they think they are related to your blood issues. I know what you mean about preferring to do work yourself, rather than have incompetent people do it - I had a definite if you want something done properly, do it yourself day yesterday!! I hope you find competent replacements for them quickly, who make your life easier. Yes, DH does have a very unusual name - his father studied ancient english at university. I think DH got the better deal than his brother though! Once you know DH's name though, I think our anonymity is pretty well destroyed, as there really aren't that many people with the same name in the world! (you're very welcome to borrow it for your little one, if you like it and you have a boy (obviously!!)). [you pronounce the 'C', like a 'Q', in case you want to know!!]
Seaside - how you doing? Shopping trip sounds great - I still worry now about buying things for baby, so i think it is perfectly normal to feel a bit strange doing it. When pg with DD, it took us about 4-5 trips to mothercare, before we actually bought anything [too scared and overwhelmed by the whole thing at first!]. Definitely go with the advisor thing at John Lewis - we thought about it, but never did in the end. They obviously won't have the full range of everything available, but have a very good start! hope your dog is ok?
Bodkin - how's the beautiful Isla today? keep meaning to ask you, how's DD1s sleeping? I remember you saying she'd become a bit unsettled in the weeks before Isla was born. Our DD has been up 5 times for 2 nights in a row now, not sure if it is because DH has been away, or whether she was hot, or whether she's just generally unsettled with lots of thoughts of new house, new school, new baby and the fact that her favourite nursery teacher is leaving the nursery tomorrow as well. But it's really reminding me, how much I hate disturbed nights!!
Hello everyone else - Iampg, hope you're feeling a bit better, Kitkat, hope early motherhood is treating you well! Who else, I know I've forgotten someone?
Right, better go - really feel like I'm skivving, but I'd better enjoy it. Mum says I'd just be more ill next week, if I don't rest today - but i've always been rubbish at taking sick days off - normally have to be sent home!
Just wanted to share my bizarre pregnancy dreams with you all - I take it is normal to have such vivid weird dreams about your baby? First one was that I'd had my growth scan and they estimated that baby was already 8lb 15oz, therefore, if they put on average of 1lb a week from now on, I'm due to have a 15lb 15oz-er!!! Pretty scary thought!!!!
The other was that instead of feeling a head, bottom or leg poking through my tummy, a proper hand shape appeared poking through under the skin of my bump. I touched it and like all new born babies, it grabbed my finger really tightly and wouldn't let go! I just thought what do I do now, my hand can't go through my skin into my bump and he'll have to move his hand at some point! - very bizzare!!!
anyway, hope you all have great days.
take care
