Chooster · 02/10/2007 21:37
  • I've just read that thread about parenting. Very interesting... I know what you mean Greedy about knowing the right way to go about it, but sometimes its really difficult to keep calm when DC's are playing up. My DH is the same as yours Fettle, he does really try but when he's tired or stressed it all collapses really. Which is how things are at the moment as he's doing a lot at the moment for setting up his company, learning new skills and worrying about income. All in all it's fine... I have strategically left out my 'Toddler Taming' book next to his bed a few times . Depending on his mood its either welcomed with a smile or a scowl .

So so so sorry about your day Greedy. Its awful when you dont feel the baby move. You did such the right thing getting it checked out and so good to hear Marcy was wriggling away. Fingers crossed she gets bored in the next day or two . How is yous DS? What are the hospital doing next in terms of assessing him? At least you had a good bit in there this morning - sounds lovely.

I've been helping DH out with something so missed the first part of the baby programme, but am recording it so my rant may be a little late.

Loving Honeypot too!!! . Hope you are not feeling too grim Honey.

Ahhh, little Isla and her singing . Fab... Theo is doing lovely little coo's now and it just melts me . How was Isla's sleeping last night. Forgot to mention it earlier but at 10 - 11 hours sleeps!!

honeyapple · 03/10/2007 10:38

Morning,

well still feeling sicky and crampy... was awake a lot of the night with cramp pains... lying in bed thinking how I should pack a hospital bag... however, I have not gone into labour, and dont think I will for a while yet, so dont worry Greedy- you will be before me i am sure .

I think all couples disagree sometimes about the best way to bring up kids/ deal with tantrums etc. My DP often tells me off for shouting , and I know he is right... just sometimes it gets hard doesnt it. I am always trying to be very positive with kids, but when you are tired etc it is hard to keep that ratty side away. I equally get cross with him for saying daft things to the kids and for over reacting to small issues... i think both sides need to look at their parenting and not critisise each other, but offer support. ha! easier typed than done! i have just read Steven Biddolph secret of happy children which is a really good book on this subject.

Anyway... sorry to hear you had a crap day Greedy, but good news that all is fine with LO and you are having good BHs, I'm sure it wont be long until bubs is in your arms .

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/10/2007 13:24

Just watching that parenting programme - OMG - thank goodness for Dr Spock, is all I'm saying!!! That's the way I was brought up (even though I'm a 70's child!!!) and that's how we brought up DD and how we're bringing up DS. I'm just thankful I'm not living in the 1950's - i'd have gone mad!

Honey - sorry you're still not feeling better, but good that little honey is staying firmly put for the time being - not long til Friday now!!

Greedy - how you doing? 3rd today, for your 3rd child!!

Got to take Toby back to hospital tomorrow for some blood tests to check on his jaundice - MW today thinks he looks perfectly well and happy, just yellow, so probably just breast-fed jaundice, but they need to check it out all the same.

Off for a nap now, while DH paints the bathroom. Love to all - especially the singing babies!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/10/2007 17:23

CRAP! still here!

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/10/2007 17:43

It was cold again today, Greeds - maybe Marcy likes the warm?! You got a sweep booked for Friday? is that right? How's the sex going, and the curries and the pineapple eating? Bet you're sick of the lot of it - not much we can do to help her come out, but support you mentally!!!

come on Marcy - we're bored waiting now!!!

xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/10/2007 17:58

even tried sex with a pineapple yesterday fettle and that didnt work!!...................sorry.......................used that joke on the oct thread too!.............. i am running out of anything interesting or original to say!!!

thoroughly pissed off and bored of being pg and in constant pain today! moan moan moan!!

honeyapple · 03/10/2007 18:27

Evening-

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit miserable greeds- i liked the pineapple joke though . Havent been near the october thread for yonks anyway. Are they all popping like mad?

I have decided that my sickiness is acid reflux/ indigestion so I bought some Gaviscon today- but MAN that is DISGUSTING stuff . Just gulped down a couple spoonfuls and was nearly sick . Hope it blooming works.

My neighbour has just gone off to a Boden clearance sale... she's going to let me know if it is worth the rugby scrum of Tunbridge wells mothers or not, it is happening tommorrow as well. I said if stuff was super cheap I might bother, but not otherwise. Gets a bit funny at those kind of events...women frothing at the mouth... elbows and nails sharpened, Actually I've never been to one but that's how I imagine it!

bought some raspberry leaf tea today- just had a cup, but it's given my tum a bit of jip...

seaside72 · 03/10/2007 19:58

Hang in there greedy - she is coming - she can't stay in there forever after all - but I am sure your days must be dragging - Just think - this time next week she will be in your arms ! I so hope she makes her entrance before I go away - totally selfish reasons of course!!

Honey- sorry you have been so uncomfortable too - IKWYM about gaviscon - I bought some as all my friends swore by it - but luckily I have not had too much heartburn - good job as I am not sure which is worse - def a pinch the nose and swallow quick one!

fettle - DH and I watched that prog last night and I agree - spock sounds best imo! However I do think in true crap telly fashion they are draging out all the contentious points and a lot of it seems to just play on the extremes. Good concept for a tv prog but the production company has made it crap!! It could have been a really interesting, documentary style/informative series! - Good luck with Toby tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is doing OK - I am sure DH and I are going to fall out abput parenting styles to some extent but hopefully we will find a happy medium fingers crossed!

Well I think I do have full blown thrush again - rubbish! Right before our hols as well - I am just hoping it clears up by next week and also trying to convince myslef it is not something more sinister - I think I have been so lucky to not have had any major scares/worries but I keep thinking it is too good to be true
Thanks everyone for the MA advice - I finally got through to someone on the phone who was helpful and it is a good job as she told me they are not accepting the internet forms only originals - so that was 39 pages printed for nothing!! - grrrr

Anyway - hope everyone else is doing OK as well as all the junior graduates too!!

Bodkin · 03/10/2007 22:03

at sex with a pineapple Greedy - man, that's gotta hurt.... Sorry to hear today was not the day. I felt sure it would be. Maybe it will be the 5th then. Or the 7th, to make it easy to rememeber (07/10/07)

Sorry, I've been to the pub. It is very difficult to type this after a pint of cider and a glass of wine. I f I wa s to stop using the dletee button I would statt ot look like a complett loon!!!! But hurah. Lovely night aout with the girls

Right. sensible typing again now. Better go now. Before I make a fool of myself

Will do proper post tomorrow.

Night all.xx

fettleandbabyfettle · 03/10/2007 22:04

Bodders is drunk!!!! or at least a bit tipsy!!! Just saw your response to the selfish, shellfish lobster thread! Glad you sound as if you're having a good night!

Seaside - great to hear from you - sorry to hear about the thrush. Glad you've got somewhere with your MA - I'm so grateful I work for a company that sorts this out for me, listening to you, Greedy and bodders trying to sort it all out.

Honey - gaviscon is evil stuff, but apparently quite effective!!! hope it is making you feel better.

Greedy, hang in there - won't be long now!

Night-night all
xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 03/10/2007 22:09

a pissed bodders! i love it!!! you have made me smile just before i go to bed and get REALLY depressed at not being in labour and not being able to turn over and not being able to sleep cos of heartburn......................why did i go back for more dinner hey??? what a piggy........i KNEW i would get heartburn too but it was so yummy.................i have truly lived up to my nickname tonight..................oh well......................hope all you lovely pg ladies have a good nights sleep and hope all you really annoying ladies with your new babies (not jealous of you all at all!) get woken up loads and sleep REALLY badly!!! ............s'pose i hope you all sleep well too really! i will no doubt lie awake listening to my dh snoring and dd coughing and imagine what my ickle one is going to look like!!!!

G'night!

Bodkin · 04/10/2007 11:40

Bleurgh. Cider and wine. what on earth made me think that would be a good idea . Tolerance to alcohol is clearly very low at the moment! As a result have been a very grumpy mummy this morning and have just sworn at Isla for screaming at me! Man can she scream when she wants to. I'm wondering if she might have reflux now, as she usually really screams out after she possetts and it takes her a good while to settle down again. Whaddya reckon Chooster, does that sound like reflux to you? Oh, and no need to feel at the marathon sleeps she was having - it's a dim and distant memory now... . So am coming round to the idea of a top-up at bedtime too.

Greedy - glad I made you smile through the heartburn! Hope you managed to get some sleep and your DH didn't snore too loudly.

Seaside - sorry to hear about the thrush - grrr. just what you don't need before you go on holiday. Sounds like you're getting closer to solving the mystery of MA anyway!

Honeyapple... mmmm Boden clearance sale Mind you, I think I'd give it a wide berth at 37 weeks pg too! Just had a parcel delivered from Next actually. Don't know why I rate Boden so much, Next kids stuff is really nice at the mo, and seems to be much cheaper than I remember it used to be - pack of 3 really nice t-shirts for DD1 for £12 - that is a barry bargain if you ask me. Groooh, gaviscon, it is particularly nasty stuff, but the relief is worth it!

The girl's night out I was on was for our friend who lost her baby at 20 weeks. It was so lovely to see her out and we had a good chat. She seemed very positive about things and that once she has got through this, they will keep trying. So nice to hear

Chooster · 04/10/2007 15:12

uurgh, sorry to hear about the thrush seaside. I was plagued by it in my pregnancy and its a right pain (no pun intended ). Hope it clears soon... Where are you going on holiday? Sorry if you've already said and I've missed it.

Love the pineapple joke - definately worth repeating it on the antenatl thread as well. I've had a few reads of our July post natal thread but they all seem to pally and are organinsing meet-ups and stuff. I reckon I've waited too long to say 'hello' . Not sure I could keep up with two threads anyway and I could never leave you ladies

So, a night out eh Bodders! Sounds just great! . I've got one coming up next weekend and am looking forward to it, I'll try not to mix cider and wine though .

It sounds like reflux Bodkin. Theo is not really a crying baby but he would grumble and cry after a feed in the early days, and it was nearly always accompanied by some milk coming back up. Its mainly passed now and the gaviscon did help but not so easy to give it when you are breastfeeding . Sorry to hear good nights are a thing of the past.. Theo was a right tinker last night - up at midnight, 2am, 4am and then 5.30am. Grrrrr.... Hope tonight is better

Ready · 04/10/2007 18:04

Any news from Greeds??

Rainbowdays · 04/10/2007 18:06

Greedy - currently in internet cafe in london logging in to check that you are still fed up.... whoops you are

But I am happy cause I got to see my wonderfully wriggly baby on the scan.... yep all is well and I am now 13.5 weeks.... yippy. phew, perhaps I can start to relax now and enjoy some of this pg!

Hi to all else.

Rainbowdays · 04/10/2007 18:12

PS - is anyone in the South of England? I am visiting here for a while with work and would love to meet up with anyone! It is lonely without my dh and kids around!

fettleandbabyfettle · 04/10/2007 18:54

Evening all - my money is on greeds being in labour now as she was arounf a lot this morning and then disappeared!!!!! Hope I'm right greedy-munchkin!!

We're just back from hosp. 3 hours we were there!! But Toby's bilirubin levels, although high are not high enough for treatment. They've taken urine and blood tests (he's got a huge yellow plaster on the back of his hand now - poor little boy, but he didn't even murmur when the needle went in and Dr was digging around to make the blood flow out). DD was fascinated by the blood and wanted to know what it was and did we all have it?! Anyway, hopefully as he is well other than being yellow, the tests will come back negative on a liver problem, so hopefully he'll just get less yellow with time now! He's gaining weight well, which is good - another 250 g in 4 days.

Anyway, enough of me, except, i'm wondering if he might have a bit of reflux too, as he is obviously in pain after feeding, but burps very easily, so don't think it is trapped wind - he also brings up small amounts of curdled milk quite frequently after feeding as well - thankfully, we've nto had a projectile vomit - still got that joy to come (but he pooed all over me this morning while changing his nappy - nice!!!! - don't remember DD doing that (got used to the fountains of wee with nearly everynappy change now!!).

Great to hear from you Rainbowy and to hear that your scan went well - hopefully you can start to relax and enjoy your pregnancy now, although after a mc, it is so difficult.

Bodders - I hope your hangover has subsided - I've still not had any alcohol - always feela bit bad while breast-feeding, but starting to really want a glass of wine, so maybe now we've been given some good news about his jaundine, we can have a small glass tonight! i've never tried Next children's clothes - should have a look - do they do all their range on-line?

Chooster - sorry to hear Theo is not sleeping well - we probably are all up at the same time, including Greedy!!! Hopefully it will get better - have you tried him on a bottle at all yet?

Honey - how you doing? how's the gaviscon going? Nearly there now, only just over 5 hours until your home birth window opens!!!!

right, better go and see what is happening upstairs - late night for DD, but she was such an angel at the hospital this afternoon - think she and DH are making water bombs with a balloon!! Dread to think what the state of my bathroom floor is!!!

take care all
xxx

Chooster · 04/10/2007 21:04

Ah, great news about the jaundice, fingers crosses everything comes back negative and his colour gets much better. What a brave boy eh!!! Such a lovely image of your DH and DD making water bombs . Am sure you should be able to celebrate with a glass of wine. I've had the odd glass (in face that open bottle of red wine is staring at me every time I go into the kitchen tonight ), but I haven't had more than one glass yet. Like you I feel a bit bad, but am sure its all fine. What do you reckon Bodders as our new resident boozer .

Great to hear more good news from you too Rainbowdays - brilliant that the scan went well. Really hope you can manage to relax a little too... If only I was still living down South - I'd have loved a meet-up! How long are you away from home for?

Mmmm, wonder where Greedy is? Either fed up sitting on the sofa or pushing hard!

All is good here - Theo has had a rotten cold (AGAIN!!!) so I think that what was what was keeping him awake a bit last night. We both had a lovely snooze this morning as DS1 was at nursery.... Ahhh, it was heaven .

Anyway, hope this cold clears up soon as we are off to Centreparcs on Monday for 4 nights! hoorrrrayy! Looking forward to it, but I really hope its not too much hard work with the two kids and that it will be a holiday .

Have done some work for my FIL and he said he was going to come over this evening to take a look - Not here yet - does he not know I go to my bed at 10pm at the latest!

greedygreedyguzzler · 04/10/2007 22:11

sorry ready - no news yet!!! and i have done so much stairmarching today!!!! (another one of those crap things that is supposed to bring labour on!!!)........i was lying in bed last night when dh suddenly said " i have just remembered, you are supposed to do that stairmarching sideways, HAVE you been doing it sideways?!!!!"..................like he expected me to suddenly get up and start doing it then!!!!! he can be annoying sometimes!!!
having fun at MILs? had sex on their bed yet then?????

rainbowdays! - so pleased your scan was good! can't believe how far along you are already!!! and i am in the south of england!!!! whereabouts are you? you can come and meet up with me and see my new arrival if she ever pops out!!! and how come you are down here and is it all the time? are you all here or is it just you? and can i ask anymore questions!!??

fettle - sorry to disappoint you!!! i was around this morning cos kids were at the childminders/ nursery!!! once i picked them up we were busy busy so i havent had a chance again till now!!! glad little Tony(!) is doing well and i am sure his yellowness will fade soon!!! and how can you NOT have bought any next kids clothes before???!!! some of them are SO cute!!! get shopping girl!!!.hows your boden dress looking? does it fit over your huge tits yet???!!! mine is NEVER going to fit me on 20th oct is it???!!! i will prob still be pg by then at this rate!!!

chooster - i am VERY jealous of you going to centerparcs. ds was only telling me yesterday when i asked him if he wanted to go back to st. lucia, that he would rather go to the place with all the water slides!!! ........good to know we didnt waste all our money taking them to the carribbean then!!!

ok...i have a rather grim confession to make!!! i got dh to try and give me a sweep this morning!!!! the whole thing was really funny actually and i couldn't stop laughing, but it was a bit odd too! obviously didnt work though cos i am still here!!! have got a mw appt tomorrwow and she will be doing a proper sweep then hopefully!!!!

night all!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 04/10/2007 22:21

hey i must be REALLY funny!!! they have used my pineapple joke as the thread title on the due in october thread!!! ........oh dear!

Ready · 04/10/2007 22:40

Not especially thanks Greedy - living here is, well, it's a challenge.
Haven't had sex at all yet Unlikely to conceive if this continues Sorry to hear that all the stairmarching hasn't proved fruitful. Keeping an eye on this thread for news.

Hope everyone else is doing ok? I miss you all

honeyapple · 05/10/2007 10:05

morning

Hi Ready, lovely to hear from you . Hope you manage some naughty business soon .

So Greedy, DIY sweep eh? that must have been entertaining . Hope the proper MW sweep is a little more productive today.

DP has dashed off to Spain for the weekend to help his dad who had all his money and cards stolen yesterday . So I am keeping my legs firmly crossed for the next few days and definately not doing any stair marching, or pineapple shagging either...

Fettle- glad to hear Toby is ok and the jaundice is getting better.

Bodders- you old lush! Wine and cider, good grief, someone call Supernanny .

Chooster- have a great time in centreparcs.. I am sure you will have a fantastic holiday, the more the merrier say I.

Rainbowdays- great news about the scan . What is taking you away from home? I'm in kent if you are near!

Hi to everyone else as always xx

fettleandbabyfettle · 05/10/2007 10:43

Happy temping due date Greedy!!! Hope the sweep today is not too uncomfortable and works!!!! Be thinking of you all day - what time is your appointment?

Honey - you keep those legs crossed and away from any errant pineapples!!! Your poor DP's father though - is he ok? Lovely that your DP could and did rush out there for him, but not great timing for you.

DH has had to go to work this morning for a meeting although technically he is on paternity leave this week - poey army! But hopefully he'll be back by lunchtime.

Must go and have a shower while little Toby is asleep - take care all and have a great day.
xxx

ps rainbowy, I'm in Wiltshire, so probably a little far for cup of coffee from London.

Ready [waves] - great to hear from you. Can quite understand the lack of action while staying at MILs - never really felt very confortable about that myself whenever we've stayed with mine!! Take care.xxx

greedygreedyguzzler · 05/10/2007 11:01

morning all! getting VERY pissed off with the due in oct thread and EVERYONE popping before me!!! AARRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!

just realised i have told dh this thread title and he will get VERY confused if he has to try and post on a new thread!!!! someone will have to think of a good title to catch his attention!!!!! something about rugby or the grandprix should do the trick!!!

sweep is at 1.10pm..........pinning all my hopes on it!!!

honeyapple · 05/10/2007 11:42

oh we have hit 1001!

greedy- will be thinking of you at 1.10 ... new thread title...
