Hi ladies, thought I’d start another thread as the original one is closed and don’t think anyone has started a new one yet? I’m sure there are more ladies I should tag!

@Beckybutterfly yep I’m having a boy and the Weight has gone everywhere I’m hoping it will slow down a bit, I seem to be carrying quite low though at the moment definitely different to my first.

Mayjane5 · 22/04/2019 17:58

Hope everyone had a nice Easter it’s been so lovely with the weather and time off work 😎 have a diabetes test this week and see the midwife next week. Planning on stocking up with baby items this month I think the Asda baby event starts soon x

BeckyButterfly · 22/04/2019 18:33

@Mayjane5 it's definitely just pot luck I'm saying! Everyone said I was having a boy because of the way I'm carrying then she turned out to be a little lady.

I have my diabetes check this week too. I'm really hoping I don't have it but I haven't been eating the best lately.

I thought the Asda event started today but I've checked online and I can't seem to see anything. Lidl's starts today and Aldi's starts later this week sometime (I'm not certain of which day it starts on)
I saw a picture somewhere of which ones are on and when they start. I'll try to find it again to post on here.

BeckyButterfly · 22/04/2019 18:38

I found it!

@Beckybutterfly that’s really helpful didn’t realise they were all very soon. Just need to be sensible about what to buy and not get too carried away when all the things are so cute

BeckyButterfly · 22/04/2019 20:12

@Mayjane5 my husband keeps telling me off for buying stuff because we have a lot of family who will want to buy for her but I just want to get everything sorted now! 😂

Mayjane5 · 23/04/2019 18:50

@Beckybutterfly yes I can understand both, I think it’s good to stock up on the essentials and everyday things especially when these sales are on, saved us so much time and not having to worry about it as much with our daughter. Family will always want to buy the cutey things.

Bellaphant · 23/04/2019 19:25

@beckybutterfly and @mayjane5, good luck for the test, mine came back fine. Looking okay to give birth in the midwife led place in the hospital.

Been given a huge amount of 0-6 month clothing over the weekend in hand me downs! My brother and sister in law have a one year old and about to be four year old, so I'm getting a bunch of stuff like a baby bath and breast pump and things. I keep forgetting things for me, like maternity and breast pads!

The aldi Moses baskets are lovely, I put mine up already!

Loving seeing all the bumps.

Mayjane5 · 24/04/2019 19:55

@Bellaphant yes I’ve seen the Aldi event has some nice things will try go tomorrow. I love their wipes will stock up on those, the bedding looks nice too

rosyedith · 25/04/2019 17:45

How often would you say you feel baby move per day? I feel like I'm constantly worried that the baby isn't moving... Need some reassurance!

BeckyButterfly · 25/04/2019 17:47

@rosyedith as long as I feel her on a morning then again before I go to sleep, I'm happy. Some days I feel more than that but others, depending on her position, I will only feel any real movement when I'm in bed 😊

rosyedith · 25/04/2019 17:55

Thanks @BeckyButterfly that makes me feel better. I would say I at least feel big kicks twice a day and then little movements in between. I just need to stop worrying xx

BeckyButterfly · 25/04/2019 17:56

That's the same as me @rosyedith 😊 it's hard not to worry though!

Bellaphant · 25/04/2019 19:53

Yeah, baby tends to be awake for about twenty minutes in the morning, and then pretty quiet until after dinner: food does seem to wake it up! Then it's generally active in the middle of the night!

I've also only -seen- my stomach move with the kicks/baby a few times.

The midwife said to me that you had to know what was normal for baby, rather than a specific about of movement, etc.

What worries me is that baby sometimes almost feels like it's having fits??? I guess it's just hiccups, but the whole body seems to go crazy for a few seconds. Has anyone else had this?

Vicks82 · 25/04/2019 21:27

Hadn't been on for a few days and then read the latest comments and it's just what I was saying to my husband.
I usually feel a little movement in the morning and not much until after dinner. Tonight baby didn't seem to move as much, but suddenly he or she is awake now, just a bit later than normal.
How do I stop myself worrying so much?!

Bellaphant · 25/04/2019 21:48

My bump!

Jummynbean · 25/04/2019 22:45

Went to 28week scan today and they think I might have Gd. Have to go for a rest on Tuesday, what's that like? What happens?

BeckyButterfly · 26/04/2019 08:15

@Jummynbean I had mine yesterday and it was fine. You have to fast for 10 hours before hand which isn't easy at this point in pregnancy! They take your blood then give you a sugary drink. Then you have to wait for 2 hours and they'll take your blood again. And that's it. I did feel a bit woozy afterwards which I was surprised about but I reckon it was because I hadn't eaten for over 10 hours then I stuffed my face as fast and as soon as I possibly could!

Jummynbean · 26/04/2019 08:32

@BeckyButterfly, thanks for that, I don't really do well around needles anyway, and felt really feint and sick at my last one so really not looking forward to that. Plus I need to take another half day off work. How did yours turn out?

BeckyButterfly · 26/04/2019 17:07

@Jummynbean aw I'm sorry 🙁 I don't mind needles at all so it didn't bother me. You can ask them to take it from the back of your hand if you find that easier to manage. My step mum has a severe phobia of needles so always gets them to use the back of her hand because she just finds that less invasive I think.
I don't have the results yet, they said that if everything comes back clear then I'll just get a call from my midwife in 2 weeks time. I'll find out before then if there is something wrong though.

Mayjane5 · 26/04/2019 23:09

@Jummynbean I had my diabetes test yesterday it’s not bad at all the waiting around is the hard part, find out results in a few days.

Mayjane5 · 26/04/2019 23:12

Went to Aldi today and boots for baby things, got boxes of wipes/bath/blankets in Aldi and buy one get one free nappies/half price Tommie tippie bottles in boots. Trying to stock up a bit now whilst I’m still at work.

Bunnybaubles · 27/04/2019 00:05

@Jummynbean @BeckyButterfly @Mayjane5 hopefully you are all clear for GD. I'm now on 4 metformin tablets a day plus 8 units of lantus slow release injections and about to have novo rapid quick release insulin injections included. I'm 27 + 3 now, the diabetes nurse said this is when my glucose levels will shoot up fast ☹ Suppose on the plus side I have my 28 week growth scan next week. Might find out if my wee girl has lots of hair like her sister 😍

I don't know if you have one in your area, but Costco is amazing for large packs of nappies and big boxes of baby wipes. My mum is making me a baby box lol, she adds a box of wipes, or pack of nappies or cotton buds etc to it every time she goes shopping. DD's baby box lasted nearly 8 months 😂

Jummynbean · 27/04/2019 06:18

@BeckyButterfly luckily it's not too bad for me, not too bad with the needle it's self, it's more the fact that I know info woozy afterward and it's the anxiety caused by that. Hope all goes well for you X you too @Mayjane5, glad to know your getting sorted :)

@Bunnybaubles, just had my scan, everything is good, just measuring a little on the big side (which is great but I was hoping to push out a little one haha). I'm amazed you are on so many meds. I thought I'd just have to watch what I'm eating. I'm cutting as much sugar from my diet as I can ATM, hopefully that could help fingers crossed (can't hurt right?).

Going shopping myself today, going to see what deals are on. Any recommendations as to what size and how many nappies I should be looking to get?

Mayjane5 · 27/04/2019 07:29

@Jummynbean have a look on all the shop website for the best deals, and pick the best from each. With my first I think I had approx 4 boxes of the jumbo boxes (70 ish in a box) of size 1, then maybe 4 of size 2 to start? They do grow quick but the sizes do overlap I think I had only a few packs of newborn but depends on baby size which we won’t know till a bit nearer. I found it easy to have a supply for the first few months especially after having a section and not being able to get out, although internet shopping is so good now you can get anything next day. @Bunnybaubles wow that’s a lot to take for the gd I didn’t realise I’m crossing my fingers I don’t have it, I do eat a lot of sugary stuff that is my usual downfall. I do have a Costco card and used to pick up the big boxes of nappies they are a good price, we also got ready made formula from macro they do a large pack in there. I discovered the ready made stuff a few months in and it made such a difference for those tired nights ☺️ It’s getting so real now isn’t it!!!
