Hi ladies, thought I’d start another thread as the original one is closed and don’t think anyone has started a new one yet? I’m sure there are more ladies I should tag!

@mayjane, as I was in over the weekend they just want to check? Dr basically said it was a box ticking exercise, but because technically my bmi is high they should do one once id had lack of movement over the weekend.

Thinking I might end up being induced too! Got the normal midwife for 36 weeks in the morning! Gonna see how it all goes.

Bunnybaubles · 13/06/2019 01:59

@Bellaphant 😂 Dont worry, baby is still happy where she is. What's a sling library? I need a sling cause my other baby is nearly 1 so will still be in her buggie.

@Mayjane5 we are both good 😊 I'm 34+2 now. Apparently tests done last month showed I had pre-eclampsia, nobody told me tho 🤔 Dr came to see me this morning and said it's still manageable with blood pressure tablets at this time so doubled my dose of methyldopa and introduced another called naphedapine, and if I'm happy to adjust my own medication when needed I can go home... so I got released this afternoon yayyyy! So no imminent delivery but I will be induced within the next 3 weeks or so if my blood pressure doesn't go out of control like last time.

Bloody hate the wards. Think 45 degree dry heat!! I recommend hot pants and a boob tube 😂

@PixieDust26 aww you'll do great, you'll have plenty pain relief options to choose from. Good thing about being induced is you know when baby will arrive.

Eeeeeek!! Getting close to meeting our babies now, so exciting 😆

Mayjane5 · 13/06/2019 20:49

@Bellaphant @Bunnybaubles happy you are both ok must be added stress though not needed at this time. I feel exhausted bump is getting very heavy and uncomfortable. I’ve read up about the elective sections and the say they do them at 39 weeks so I still have a few more to go not exactly sure what happens if I go into labour before though will find out Monday at next appointment ☺️

Bellaphant · 14/06/2019 14:51

Yesterday went well, but baby has moved back up and isn't engaged any more. They are head down, but wonky - legs out to the side - so they may want to move them manually at my next appt. We went for the scan and got told the gender that they didn't 100% confirm at the 20 week is wrong!!! So now we need a new name!!

Baby is also measuring over the 95 centile for everything, is already seven and a half pounds. Freaking out over it's head measurement, how is it getting out??

Mayjane5 · 15/06/2019 17:58

@Bunnybaubles what symptoms have you got with pre eclampsia? I had an episode of seeing stars yesterday but not sure if it was bending down too quickly? I’ll try and remember to get a little fan for the wards i imagine they get quite uncomfortable when it’s warm.

Bunnybaubles · 15/06/2019 20:13

@Mayjane5 definitely get a fan!! They dont mind you bringing your own in, I did last year. The wards are roasting!!

I've got essential hypertension outside of pregnancy. Last year I was hospitalised because my blood pressure would go dangerously high through the night, then come down during the day. I had awful headaches too. I started seeing stars a couple of weeks before I got admitted. Saw them whenever I strained myself, when I bent down, climbing the stairs but then I also saw them while standing doing my dishes... cause that is very hard work Grin. Only now and again I had +1 protein in my urine. Towards the end of my 2 weeks in hospital before being induced my hypertension turned into pre-eclampsia and I noticed my hands got quite swollen.

This time I've had +1 protein in most of my urine samples for months. My ankles are a bit swollen, not bad tho. I started seeing stars a few weeks ago. Optician said it's my blood pressure not my eyes. And I've had bouts of really high blood pressure again with headaches. But I'm still classed as the lower end of the pre-eclampsia spectrum. The higher end symptoms include more than +3 protein, pain under the top right of your ribs, possibly very swollen / puffy hands, feet, ankles or face, blurry or double vision and convulsions! I'm being monitored 2 to 3 times a week now so hopefully I dont get that far!!

I saw stars both times at least a week or so before noticing my blood pressure would go up. First time it was missed because midwife checked my blood pressure during the day so was always 140/94ish which is normal for me, but when I started checking on my home monitor at night it would exceed 160/110 and stay high till the morning. If you know someone with a monitor it might be worth checking before bed. Hopefully you just gave yourself a head rush tho!!

Mayjane5 · 15/06/2019 23:10

@Bunnybaubles wow that’s crazy what it does I didn’t realise how serious it can be. I’m hoping it was just a one off I’m seeing midwife on Monday so will check blood pressure and protein then, I’ve not seen her for a while now, my legs have been slightly swollen since the start presume that’s just a pregnancy thing though?

Mayjane5 · 16/06/2019 10:18

Wow I’m so tired today! Still lots to do, what is everyone putting in their hospital bags? x

Bunnybaubles · 16/06/2019 13:43

@Mayjane5 I was told swelling that comes and goes is normal pregnancy swelling, and swelling that doesnt go away is an indicator of pre-eclampsia.

I haven't packed my hospital bag yet, still trying to decorate my daughters bedroom. I want her cot moved before this baby arrives. Not looking hopeful 🙈

But I'll be packing 2 bags, one for me and one for baby. I did that last year, found it so much easier.

Mine will have:
Something comfy for the labour/birth.
Change of jammy's for after.
Clean clothes for leaving hospital.
Toiletries/makeup.
Breast pads
Sanitary towels
Phone charger
Painkillers

Baby's bag:
Vests newborn/tiny baby
Baby grows newborn/tiny baby
Blankets/shawls
Nappies
Nappie cream
Hats
Dummys

Extras I'm taking are my desk fan and a couple of pillows. Hospital pillows are like gold dust.

Btw, not sure if you have a Bounty rep who goes around the wards where you are offering to take photos of your new baby. Do not waste your money!! They are not photographers, just a random with a camera and the quality is terrible! I bought the £200 package, out of 10 photos only 1 was any good for a photo frame. For that money you could get professional pics done. Our hospital had lovely baby photos hanging on the wall, I asked the bounty lady if they were her photos and she lied through her teeth lol, found out later they were done by a professional, not bounty.

Bellaphant · 16/06/2019 14:07

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pack-your-bag-for-birth/ plus a Mumsnet one was what I've used. Gone with the two bag strategy as well - all I need is some snacks and I kinda want a water spray bottle with a fan: I'm sure we used to take them on holiday as a kid!

My legs are really swollen this week! Nothing fits me properly all of a sudden :(

Bellaphant · 16/06/2019 14:08

Oh 'the bounty lady gets told to fuck off' is in my birth plan! Vile business.

Bunnybaubles · 20/06/2019 16:51

@Bellaphant I'm glad you posted that link, reminded me of stuff I need to add to my list for the hospital bags.

Apparently my pre-eclampsia is getting worse, now have +2 protein. If today's bloods come back ok then they are taking it day by day to see how things go but still hoping I reach 37 weeks. Then I'm getting induced, that's a week on Tuesday 😱 I'm still not ready!!

Jummynbean · 20/06/2019 18:24

Just got back from a scan, I'm 26 weeks and they have estimated baby to be 7lbs!!! I have to go for another gd test and im terrified now that I'll either have to be induced and denied a water birth or if I carry to full term, am I risking shoulder dystocia. I'm hoping that either I was measured wrong or I'm further along than I thought....I just feel lost

HayleyHaystack · 20/06/2019 23:05

Do you mean 36 weeks @Jummynbean Smile otherwise yes that’s massive for 26 weeks! I got told at 37 weeks that the estimated weight is 7lbs but no one was worried plus it’s not that accurate I don’t think?

Jummynbean · 20/06/2019 23:07

@HayleyHaystack hahahah yes I mean 36 🤦🏻‍♀️not sure if dieting will even make a difference. I haven't weighed myself at all during the pregnancy, but I'm certain I haven't put on much extra weight. I just really had my heart set on a water birth.....now it looks like that's not going to happen

Bellaphant · 20/06/2019 23:31

@jummynbean, a 36 weeks we were told 7'7, but in my trust they don't seem worried at all about size. Like you, i've not put much weight on at all: in fact, into my second trimester i was losing weight! i'm all baby.

had painful, regular contractions today and yesterday, but after about 4 hours they die off. i was in proper pain earlier, horrible cramps, but nothing. Even tried too find my own cervix earlier to see if anything fun was happening!!

FairyDust92 · 21/06/2019 00:09

36+1 got my next growth scan on Weds hoping baby isn't a porker 🥴
Should be getting induced the following week at 38 weeks. Been having some sharp pains down below which comes and go, baby feels like he/she is trying to escape out my stomach 😂. Could the sharp pains be a very early sign of labour is coming?

Bunnybaubles · 21/06/2019 14:13

@FairyDust92 the sharp pains are caused by your baby head butting your cervix, sometimes referred to as 'fanny daggers' lol. I've been getting them for weeks, makes me jump every time!!

@Jummynbean I got told at my last growth scan my baby is going to be big too - 9lb at full term. But I'm getting started off at 37 weeks so probably be around 7lb-ish. Growth scans are really unreliable tho, the way a baby is lying can really affect the measurements, hopefully it'll be better news at your next growth scan.
My sister-in-law gave birth to a 9lb 4 baby boy a few months ago, she had a natural birth so dont feel like you have to be pushed into induction.

FairyDust92 · 21/06/2019 14:16

@Bunnybaubles they've now gone down to my sides! 🥵

HayleyHaystack · 21/06/2019 14:41

Lightening crotch is the bane of my life. I can't walk more than a few steps without being taken down. It's like being electrocuted, on repeat!

Bunnybaubles · 21/06/2019 15:41

@FairyDust92 Oh noooo! My lightening pains are mostly just above my pubic area. Ironically clamping my legs tight together helps a little...sometimes 😂

@HayleyHaystack 😂😂 I usually suffer at night but for some reason my baby has decided to punish me all day today 😂

FairyDust92 · 21/06/2019 17:49

@Bunnybaubles I'll have to try that. Moving round to front of my tummy now so not sure if this is the start of something or I'm just having a rough ride today 😂

Mayjane5 · 21/06/2019 22:04

Wow so exciting nearly time for us all!! People keep saying I look ready now or is it twins!! 😆 but due right at end of July, I’m really not sure if he will come early, was induced early last time so don’t know how it feels to go naturally. How is it when waters break? Is there contractions usually before? Any other signs it’s about to start? Bump was hard this morning but soften up

Bellaphant · 21/06/2019 23:03

@bunnybaubles, being punished here too. three days of just....pain now, imagining if i go overdue and have five more weeks of throwing up and hurting and no sleep :S :S

Squeakybubbles26 · 22/06/2019 08:04

Hi all! I haven't been on in a while so thought I'd check in, can't believe it nearly time for us all! Sounds like a few of you can see the end in sight too!
Found out the other day I have ICP, so actually got to be induced on the 10th July @ just over 37 weeks! Bit anxious about being induced, anyone else experienced this in the past? My first labour was natural and even though I needed forceps in the end wasn't to bad (looking back)! However now dreading being induced and I hear it hurts more 😩! Hope your all well on this beautiful Saturday morning :) x
