I've started this thread to have somewhere for those of us who have been through the IVF/ ICSI journey and have finally got our BFP! For support, symptoms chat and whatever else anyway wants to chat about....

Hi @brighteye3986 I had a viability scan at 7 weeks and heard the heartbeat then. They didn't say why they wanted to do another scan at 9 weeks, I'm just presuming it's because of my MMC last year.

Boboelephant · 06/04/2019 20:46

@womaninkent congratulations on a positive scan! Great pic!!

I actually seem to be the opposite to most of you and have been losing weight. No idea how with twins and my constant carb cravings but I'm sure when the bump does start growing properly it'll be huge!!

@Summerloving17 I'm so pleased to hear that bubs is hanging on!

@ginandtonicformeplease welcome and congratulations! I'd call them and say that you'll be 14+2 and say you are supposed to be seen before 13+5. Someone has probably just made an error. Worth asking before paying for a private scan.

@brighteye3986 hope you get your scan appointment soon. I think mine will be late too. I'm the same as you and 10 weeks on Monday but don't even have my booking in appt until Wednesday. They said they'll organise scan after that so as much as I would like it before Easter I imagine it'll be more like 13 weeks.

womaninkent · 06/04/2019 23:02

@summerloving17 so pleased for you!

womaninkent · 07/04/2019 08:20

@brighteye3986 I have a bump going although I haven’t really put on any weight yet which is weird. I didn’t think the bump was too noticeable but apparently someone at the wedding I was at yesterday guessed i’m pregnant despite having carefully chosen an outfit I thought hid the bump! I’ve bought one maternity skirt because I happened to find it in a charity shop but really it’s way too big-it needs safety pins to hold it up. Luckily my sister has leant me a lot of clothes in the next size up from my normal size and that’s working a lot better for now. Good luck with the shopping for maternity clothes.

brighteye3986 · 07/04/2019 12:03

Successful shopping trip. 4 pairs of maternity jeans from new look... actually had to go a size down as my normal size were far too big. Might be as it's still early days but seems that I am all just bump at the moment. Went to primary and brought a load of tops in bigger sizes and are a little longer in length so I can wear them with jeans or leggings. I think I have enough for now....

Thanks everyone 😘 I am still so nervous! I think I will be spending all my money on private scans 🙈

@Brighteye, sounds like a great haul! Didn’t realise new look had a range, good to know! I think topshop do too!

I’m looking forward to having a bump as it will seem more real! Don’t think I’ve gained anything yet due to nausea and vomiting that has just started :(

brighteye3986 · 07/04/2019 12:32

@Summerloving17 check online before visiting stores though as only certain new looks stock maternity. It lists them on their website. Surprisingly a smaller one stocks maternity rather than a larger store.

I managed to get some new look maternity jeans, when they had a sale on, for a fiver. Also, I’ve found ASOS to be quite good and the clearance section of the Next website. I usually wear a 10/12 but carry weight around my middle and literally since the transfer, I’ve not been able to wear my usual trousers!

brighteye3986 · 08/04/2019 09:22

Just called up and found out my scan is booked for 24th April! I will be 12+2....

@brighteye3986 great news 😊

Saltisford · 09/04/2019 22:00

Hi everyone! I had my dating scan today and they put me forward from 13 weeks, 3 days to 13 weeks, 6 days! I’m not sure how they calculated this as I obviously know the date of fertilisation, transfer etc! Maybe the baby is just big!

Also, I wanted to ask some advice. The sonographer wanted to check my ovaries so automatically started looking for them. My right one was in the usual position and follicles had gone down a lot but still 3cm. My left one was harder to find - she was putting the probe higher and higher until it was above my belly button and then found it! It was 6cm! I’m wondering how this could be? She said something about if they are large, they will pop up from where they’re supposed to be to find a space - but isn’t this a bit weird! Will it stay there? I have no pain and she said OHSS would mean much bigger follicles. Nevertheless, she said she’d refer me to the consultant for it but I’m due to see one anyway as I had IVF. Would you be worried?

womaninkent · 10/04/2019 08:13

Hi @saltisford. I got moved forward by one day at my dating scan. It’s because they’re convinced that all babies grow at exactly the same rate in the first trimester but IVF cases where dates are known for sure are obviously showing that is not the case. I wouldn’t worry if it’s just a few days difference!

I’m afraid I don’t know about the ovaries-I don’t think she checked for mine or if she did she didn’t mention it to me. I’m sure it’s just a precaution and the consultant will say it’s all fine!

brighteye3986 · 10/04/2019 08:24

@Saltisford they had trouble finding my ovaries at every scan during IVF. I'm sure they are just being cautious and I'm sure you'd rather they raise their concerns rather than just leave it. As long as your baby is where it should be and everything is progressing well I'm sure you will be fine.

Positivity86 · 10/04/2019 10:58

@Saltisford great news about your scan! As the others have said, I wouldn't worry too much, as long as you're not in pain or discomfort. The body does crazy things when growing a baby!
For what it's worth, where I had OHSS, I swear I can still feel my ovaries sometimes when I sit down etc, so I'm sure mine are still big! I will get them check at my scan. I know that they can take weeks/months to return to normal after IVF so I'm sure you'll be fine 😊

Saltisford · 10/04/2019 22:09

Thanks everyone- I’m not in any pain but I suppose I’m confused where my ovaries will end up as the baby gets bigger?! I’m presuming she automatically scanned for my ovaries as she knew I’d had ivf and she measured them and made notes on them so I think you’d know if she did it. You couldn’t see the baby on the screen while she was doing it either. But when we looked at the baby it was amazing!!!! I’m still on cloud nine!! Xx

brighteye3986 · 11/04/2019 07:17

Question for anyone past the 12 weeks mark- when did you stop the cyclogest? Was it at 12 exactly or the end of 12 weeks? I was planning on continuing until my scan which is 12+2...

OP posts:
PrayingandHoping · 11/04/2019 07:31

@brighteye3986 my clinic have given me the dates of when to stop or start to reduce each drug. It's on the week marker, so my cyclogest starts to reduce at exactly 12 weeks

Am excited as am 10 weeks today so my progynova drops from 3 a day to 2 🥳

64632K · 11/04/2019 08:10

My clinic had me on a reduction plan of both Cyclogest and Progynova starting week 10, by the end of week 12 I was completely off both

womaninkent · 11/04/2019 09:13

@brighteye3986 the clinic didn’t say so I came off at the end of week 12 to be on the safe side.

brighteye3986 · 11/04/2019 09:29

Thanks guys. I think I will just continue until I get to the end. I'm sure I've got enough until around 12+5.

@womaninkent did you reduce the times you were doing them or stick to the 3 times a day?

OP posts:
womaninkent · 11/04/2019 09:32

@brighteye3986 I was told to reduce to 2 a day at my 8 week scan. I just stopped that without reducing it any further.

brighteye3986 · 11/04/2019 10:00

@womaninkent oh I was never told that. I might call them up and find out.

OP posts:
Positivity86 · 11/04/2019 11:18

@brighteye3986 I was told to stop mine at the end of week 8 but I had some left so carried on taking them until end of week 9 (nurse said that was fine). It's lovely being drug free!
