I've started this thread to have somewhere for those of us who have been through the IVF/ ICSI journey and have finally got our BFP! For support, symptoms chat and whatever else anyway wants to chat about....

@womaninkent thank you. It's reassuring to hear others have/are experiencing the same. I just rang my sister who has a 2.5 year old to see if she had experienced it too. She said yes. I'm trying not to worry but you just can't help it when you don't know if anything you feel is normal.

Hi everyone! Just saw this new thread and great to see some familiar names 😊

@womaninkent and @Saltisford how lovely, must have been amazing to see the heartbeat! I'm currently 7+2 and have our first early scan next Tuesday...counting down the days!

@brighteye3986 hope your nausea isn't too bad! I've worked out now what I need to eat/drink etc to keep mine at bay!

Positivity86 · 08/03/2019 15:29

@brighteye3986 yes I get cramps all the time! Some days worse than others, freaks me out at times!

brighteye3986 · 08/03/2019 15:45

@Positivity86 nausea is not too bad at the moment. Seem to get it more in the evenings now but seems to have eased a fair bit. It will probably come back next week though.

I'm getting annoyed with my midwife now though. I haven't heard anything yet. I rang them yesterday to check they had received my referral which they had but I still haven't heard anything. Did anyone else take ages for their midwife appt??

OP posts:
womaninkent · 08/03/2019 16:37

@brighteye3986 I think it took a week or so. My midwifes are impossible to get hold of too!

brighteye3986 · 08/03/2019 16:47

@womaninkent my sister has warned me of that and has told me to keep on at them. I will ring them Monday if I don't have anything when I get home today. It will be 2 weeks Wednesday so hopefully I will hear something from them before then.

@brighteye3986 that's good. My nausea is worse in the evenings too! Especially when hungry.

Boboelephant · 08/03/2019 17:22

Hi everyone! Glad I found you. I have been looking for a BFP after IVF thread. I got my bfp on the 23rd after my first round of private IVF. I am 5 weeks 4 days today. I have my viability scan booked for the 19th and I had a scan on Tuesday at 5w1d because I've had an ectopic rupture before. Too early to see much but the gestational sac was well formed and most importantly in the right place! 😀 I've also had a MMC discovered at 9 weeks so the next few weeks are going to be a bit stressful but one day at a time. I'm extremely tired and a bit crampy but feeling ok.
@PhoenixBird82 I had two blood tests too. They said to me at 4 weeks-ish that as long as the number are in the range and over 25 the actual number isn't too important. They want to see that the number doubled in 48-72 hours.

Congratulations to all of you!!

brighteye3986 · 08/03/2019 17:28

Welcome @Boboelephant we must be due at the same time as I am also 5+4 today.

I've just got home from work to find a letter with my booking appointment for the 28th. Now just got to find the time to go and pick my pack up from them to fill in all the details they require before my appt!

brighteye3986 · 08/03/2019 17:30

@Positivity86 I'm not even hungry- it's just seems to come on all of a sudden. Been feeling a little light headed today with the cramps but I'm hoping everything is fine.

Thanks @brighteye3986. Looks like we are exactly the same! That's great that you have your first appointment booked. In my previous pregnancies they've never been so organised. I think they called me at 8 weeks to organise for that week. The referral says if I haven't heard by the 14th to call them so I'll do that.

Is anyone else having the experience from private to NHS that they don't know how to date an IVF pregnancy? Both my GP and the EPU have tried to date it from 2 weeks before my ET and not my EC. Which would make me 6 days behind as I had a 6dt and puts my EDD out. I'm surprised this keeps happening.

PhoenixBird82 · 09/03/2019 10:19

Hello everyone. Hope you are all doing well today! It’s great that we all can unwind here a bit.
As about me, I think until the moment I get to my first ultrasound appointment in 2 weeks time, it’s going to be a similarly anxious TWW. I haven’t got many syptoms, just being tired quicker then usual and having breasts issue 😉- but that can also be due to progesterone I‘m taking. I am glad I can afford to stay late in bed this Saturday morning, just watching Netflix and drinking my decaf.
@womaninkent and @boboelephant Hello friends and thank you for replies! In general I‘m trying to keep level headed in this whole new situation, except for these HCG numbers... That’s where it got me. I could hardly resist to go to the lab this morning, to see if my numbers grew. I don’t know why am I so obsessed with them, probably because at the moment that can be the single proof that everything is going well?! ☺️
I’ve also downloaded a Glow and What to Expect apps on my phone, just to keep track of where I am at and to read some tips, trying not to over obsess with it as well though.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! And isn’t it just wonderful that we all here finally got lucky and are starting this amazing journey towards our dream?! I am still in disbelief... ☀️🐥

PrayingandHoping · 09/03/2019 10:32

@Boboelephant I haven't had my first nhs appointment yet, waiting for the call having filled in paperwork. But you're def right, my private clinic says you date yourself as 2weeks at egg collection. 🤷‍♀️

Saltisford · 09/03/2019 11:12

I’m 9 weeks today and am just having my booking appointment yesterday and today. The midwife had to head off to a homebirth!!

Saltisford · 09/03/2019 19:20

I thought I’d just let everyone know that I had a great private scan today at 9 weeks - heartbeat and perfect measurements despite the brown spotting I’ve been having. One tip - when you scan, ask to look at your ovaries. Mine are still huge from the IVF and explains twinges and cramps that I have. Just one follicle still measured 3cm - they look massive compared to the baby on the scan! I haven’t been monitored for OHSS or anything so they must be HUGE if you are!! X

brighteye3986 · 09/03/2019 19:32

@Saltisford that's great news- glad everything is fine.

That's interesting about the ovaries. Sometime my cramps feel quite intense so I wonder if it's due to this....

OP posts:
womaninkent · 09/03/2019 20:24

That’s great news @saltisford. Very interesting about the ovaries- I never thought of that!

brighteye3986 · 10/03/2019 12:39

Anyone else hating the wait for their viability scan?? I have been feeling crampy since Friday although I'm not sure if it's trapped wind as I keep feeling lots of bubbles too. I did some housework yesterday and had back ache but it eased as soon as I stopped and sat down.

It's so difficult not to read into every little twinge, cramp, ache etc. Emotions today are all over the place and all I want to do is cry but we have friends coming over this afternoon so I can't be doing that! I suppose that's a good sign though.

I also have no idea who decided to call it morning sickness. Today mine has kicked in at around 12.... normally I get it around 7 in the evening....

Tomorrow marks 6 weeks.... I have my fingers crossed everything is ok and when we go for our scan on 21st everything is confirmed as ok.

OP posts:
PrayingandHoping · 10/03/2019 12:47

@brighteye3986 yes it's awful isn't it? Mines on 21st which will be 7 weeks.

brighteye3986 · 10/03/2019 12:50

@PrayingandHoping I think this wait is actually worse than the 2ww to test.

Oh and after I posted my last post, I've been able to stop yawning. Might be nap time before my friends turn up!

OP posts:
PrayingandHoping · 10/03/2019 12:56

@brighteye3986 I completely agree!!!

womaninkent · 10/03/2019 13:08

@brighteye3986 I completely agree-the 2WW was a breeze compared with the wait for the viability scan!

Boboelephant · 10/03/2019 13:23

@PhoenixBird82 I totally understand. My first week was spent obsessing over the HCG numbers too. Did yours double? I have a slightly obsessive personality anyway so early pregnancy is tough!! So much better than the years of TTC though.

@PrayingandHoping thank you. It helps to know I'm right but not sure how I'll go telling the doctor they are wrong. Don't want to come across like a CF!

@Saltisford great news about your scan! The doc who did my 5 week one actually spent alot of time looking at my ovaries too and told me it's really important to check after IVF. He said they take a long time to go back to normal size and also fluid can be common which can cause pain so great tip.

@brighteye3986 totally agree! I am counting down the days- 9 to go!!! Cramps and back pain etc are really common in early pregnancy but I donunderstand the anxiety! I had bad cramps yesterday too although the sheer exhaustion is definitely my biggest symptom. 6 weeks tomorrow for me too- woohoo!

Saltisford · 10/03/2019 14:10

Hi everyone, I definitely think twinges, cramps etc are due to our ovaries! That and our growing uteruses etc. Another thing to think about - I got the chance to look round the new birthing facility in my home town when I went for my booking appointment with the midwife (she wasn’t available so I met a nurse but that’s another story) but you have to be low risk to birth there. I’ve since read online that IVF pregnancies are automatically classed as high risk. Have you heard this too? X

PhoenixBird82 · 10/03/2019 14:51

@Boboelephant mine numbers were growing: from 359 on 14th day after ET to 1641 on day 18. What’s confusing is that reference numbers in internet all differ so much!
And my questioning personality keeps asking, if they continue growing?! ☺️
Can’t wait for my scan on week 7 too. Other than that, today I am bloated more than usual, have recurring little cramps in my ovaries and stomach and being tired.

Eating more veggies and drinking more water with hydrolites to help minimise that.
