I've started this thread to have somewhere for those of us who have been through the IVF/ ICSI journey and have finally got our BFP! For support, symptoms chat and whatever else anyway wants to chat about....

@brighteye3986 oh my goodness huge congratulations! Noah is just beautiful! ❤️
You must be over the moon...Hope you aren't feeling too sore and enjoying those lovely newborn cuddles.

Makes me quite emotional actually...knowing we started the IVF journey at the beginning of the year and now look!!!

I'm 38 weeks today and this has made me even more excited to meet my little one xx

KatnissMellark · 09/10/2019 10:02

Massive congratulations @brighteye3986. Quite the chunk for 36+1 💞

brighteye3986 · 10/10/2019 04:21

Thanks @Positivity86

We got to come home yesterday and that's when it all finally started to sink in.

I'm feeling a little sore this morning but have just dosed up on paracetamol and then will take some ibuprofen in a couple of hours to get a constant flow of pain relief. I have been prescribed codeine too but want to avoid taking that if I can!

I know- I can't believe how in January I was starting my journey through IVF and now I'm a mummy! There are no words to express that feeling! One thing that for all of us has been longed for, for so long and it's finally happening!

Hopefully you won't have too much longer until you meet your little one!

@KatnissMellark yep definitely a little chunk- although he doesn't look it too much in real life. We have been quite lucky in the fact he is quite content so far... mumma still needs to get some sleep but daddy got some last night so hopefully I can get some zzz's in today! I'm not sure if that's because he is early though or if that's just the baby he will be!

@brighteye3986 I hope you are feeling less sore today and managed to catch up on a bit of sleep. Enjoy these precious times with your little boy 🥰
My due date is in 12 days, but I guess she will come when she's ready! I'm sooo ready now!! I've been ball bouncing and eating pineapple 😂

brighteye3986 · 11/10/2019 19:03

@Positivity86 I'm not too bad. Pain is being managed at the moment still. The worst part is the lack of sleep... I am warning you now... be prepared! DH is getting a little more sleep than me at the moment but he is planning on staying up until around 2-3 in the morning so I can get some sleep. I think I have had around 8 hours in the last 3 days... hopefully we will manage some kind of routine in the next few days.

Hopefully you don't have too much longer to wait. 12 days will soon be here. Hopefully she won't make you wait much longer than that.

It is honestly the best feeling knowing that I am now a mummy... it's also still sinking in but I am so in love 😍

That good @brighteye3986, hope things are going well.

My little lady arrived 2 days early on Monday 21 October weighing 7Ib 14oz. I had a long labour and I'm very sore from forceps and an episiotomy. But it's all worth it. She's stolen my heart 💞

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

@Positivity86 congratulations! She's gorgeous! Hope you are settling in well and getting enough rest and recovering well?

I am recovering well and settling into being a mum. Noah isn't settling very well at night at the moment so DH and I are taking it in turns to get blocks of sleep whilst the other stays up with him. He is feeding every 2 hours but takes about an hour to feed... and we are bottle feeding... god knows what it would be like if I were breast feeding!

Lydia was born last Sunday by emergency C Section (after failed induction) at 37+3. I spiked a temperature after the c section (no cause found after lots of tests so I'm convinced it was caused by a health condition I have)

Finally discharged Wednesday after days waiting for blood results for both of us that temperature was nothing. Was a long few days in hospital. Thankfully I had a private room otherwise I would never have coped! The midwives etc and my husband were amazing!!!

Lydia is an amazing baby. Eats well, lost no weight at her 5 day check, sleeps between feeds and rarely cries! Long may that continue!

Oh and she was 4lbs9oz! She's tiny 💓

brighteye3986 · 26/10/2019 13:38

@PrayingandHoping congratulations! What a little cutie. And so tiny!

Hopefully you are recovering well from your section. I haven't found the recovery too bad but had an expensive dressing on my wound that I believe helped the healing process.

After the first few days of struggling to move it's not been too bad. Sometimes struggle to straighten at first when standing. Didn't take much morphine when offered at hospital which surprised them, so just on paracetamol and only taking when needed. Stitches came out yesterday

Thought of not being able to drive for next 6 weeks and do anything with my horse and dogs is a bummer. But can't be helped. I have Lydia. 🥰

brighteye3986 · 27/10/2019 19:59

@PrayingandHoping my trust only advise to avoid driving for 2 weeks... you need to be able to carry on driving after doing an emergency stop... not able to anything major for 4-6 weeks thought like hoovering and shopping etc.

Yes you are right... the not being able to do things is a small price to pay when you have your little one. In all fairness, I've not wanted to go out much since Noah arrived. I think I've been out 4 times in 3 weeks...

My trust said once I felt able to do an emergency stop, if before 6 weeks and had sign off from doctor, I should ring my car insurance company and ask if they would cover me.... tbh I reckon it will take 6 weeks.... i have a very strong core (so
much that the machines were struggling to pick up my contractions) so I have a lot of muscle to repair. If I do feel good though I will ring my insurers. We shall see.

PrayingandHoping · 27/10/2019 20:34

I went out for a 10 min walk this afternoon. After 5 mins my wound was sore and my legs were jelly (that's connected to my health condition). Seeing as I'm a fit person that was quite depressing. Planning on doing the same every day to build myself back up

brighteye3986 · 27/10/2019 21:17

@PrayingandHoping I felt like that after my section. We went to register Noah at a week old and it took everything out of me. Almost 3 weeks after having him I managed to go out twice this week- once to the supermarket and one to take him into work and then went to a few shops by work. As time goes on, it does get easier. I am feeling more myself now. I'm still not driving or doing anything major but just feel so much better. I am going to try and drive later this week if not early part of next week. I also need to try and put the pram up and down before DH goes back to work!

It's been a while... how is everyone doing?

Noah is 2 months old today! We had a little trip to hospital Friday evening as we took him to the Drs as he had a bit of a high temp who referred us to be seen at the hospital... they're pretty sure it's a viral infection and his temperature has been a bit better since... other than that he is growing and becoming a little chunk who now weighs 11lb 5oz!
